We stayed here for a month and loved this place. The location was convenient for us to get to all parts of the city. The owner was very responsive to any questions or issues. We enjoyed shopping at Robert Fresh nearby and joined the gym a few blocks away.
4.7
A fun place to stay. Enjoyed the funky decor, old architecture, interesting pictures. It was great to have a private back yard to enjoy the weather Main living areas were clean enough. A deep clean of cupboards, window sills, behind furniture, etcetera would enhance the stay.

Great location and such a cute home. Really great value and would highly recommend

OVerall I enjoyed the house. Location was excellent. I was able to enjoy several Mardi Gras parades that passed by within a few blocks. It was near the quarter and close to public transportation through the quarter and to the Algiers ferry. The hostess was very responsive to any questions. There were just a few items that kept me from giving it a 5 star rating.
First I'll say that I was there for a full month and it was a cold one so I spent more time in the house than usual. The important areas were clean for my arrival - bathroom and kitchen. THere was a lot of decor, pictures and knick knacs. It's very hard to keep that much decor truly clean. But one cleaning item that really detracted from the stay was the amount of disinfectant or cleaning spray that was put on the carpet in the living room and probably also on the couch. Pets are allowed so I understand using the sprays. But the smell was overwhelming. The carpet seriously needed cleaning - that probably would have made a big difference. We ended up covering the couch in sheets for about a week until some of the smell dissipated. The other negative thing was that they had placed small plastic roach traps under the furniture. My small dog found 7 of them and they were toxic. No harm done but scary. These are really the only 2 negatives and both can easily be fixed by the hostess. So I would encourage others to rent there as long as they are addressed. Also could use more table lamps in living rm.

We visited last year in this neighborhood and liked it. We decided to stay in the same area this year. We communicated with the owner and checked in to our home away from home. It was as described. A lovely 2 bedroom shotgun home near numerous restaurants and a grocery store. We walked everywhere! The house had a funky, artistic vibe. It had a nice enclosed patio which did enjoy on warmer days. There were plenty of supplies and accoutrements. It was a lovely home. Hope to stay there again!

Love this house and the neighborhood, the contact person is always so awesome and helpful, we're return guests for a while, bring my Grands to show them around NOLA, this past summer was blazin hot, but we'll be back come July 😀😉😎

I thought the location was perfect for me.
The house was comfortable

Loved staying here. Very large and long shotgun home in the center of the Marigny. Comfortable, charming, and quirky, just like NOLA. I recommend.

We loved it here! Great location, great and quick communication with the owner, lovely historic home. I could go on and on. This will now be our place to stay on our New Orleans trips, it holds a special place to my now fiancée and I, especially since we got engaged this weekend and stayed in this home. 10 out of 10 recommend.

We rented this cute "shotgun" cottage in the Marigny neighborhood, which is just south of the French Quarter. The decor was fun and functional (comfy sofa in the living room, well appointed kitchen, nice hot shower, lovely bedrooms). We enjoyed the patio out back.
The very best thing about this property is its location. Just a few blocks from Frenchmen Street, and another few blocks from the French Quarter. We were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go, and Ubers were readily available for longer trips. The neighborhood is residential, so we could enjoy the music on Frenchmen St. without the noise late at night.
Our host was super-responsive! We had a question one day about the Wifi, and she literally responded within one minute! I'm sure that Samantha has a life, so I don't want one minute to be her standard, but I was really impressed by her attention, especially since we had already been checked in for a couple of days.
In other news, Paladar 511, an Italian restaurant a couple of blocks down Marigny Street, was just listed by the New York Times as one of the 25 Best Restaurants in New Orleans. We managed to get in before they became famous!
We loved our stay, and would totally stay again!
One warning for hotel lovers: The beds are Old South gorgeous, but the mattresses are a bit soft. So if the mattress is a major factor for you, versus everything you've read above, just go Marriott. (However, you will miss a major NOLA travel experience....just sayin')

High ceilings, old furnishings evocative of a past era, and funky charm. Owner especially responsive and very nice. House located in Marigny area, near everything. Everywhere are historic, well-kept, colorful houses, but this house stands out with its sad facade and peeling paint, and two broken chairs on the porch, the only house on the block where the porch and sidewalk have not been swept. Garbage can right next to the porch, full of rotten garbage and buzzing with flies. The whole front porch stinks.
Four rooms in a row, pretty living room with TV, interesting dining room, then the bedrooms: one with a door with no door knob, a lamp with no lightbulb (we had to buy one), and a saggy old mattress. In the next room, a mattress so old that it has lumps and hollows and creaks when you touch it. The person sleeping there has developed chronic back pain! Between the bedrooms is a bathroom with two small cabinets full of someone else’s stuff. At one point, a pretentious, aggressive man came here to show us how the gas oven worked. He was frightening and rude.
House full of things that belong to someone else, clothes, junk, etc. The access to the unattractive deck also contains many huge, useless objects. The only effort made for customers is a vague cleaning between rentals. This house is a lost opportunity, lots of profit and very little investment, considering the price that we paid. This place could be so much more!

This was by far my favorite vacation rental. I have traveled a great deal and had some wonderful accomodations but this is the first time I felt like I was truly coming home every time I entered this quirky house. It is comfortable, fun and has all the conveniences you need. Perfect location to walk to all the fun but still far enough away for some quiet time too.

Excellent location and property.

Wonderful, quirky shotgun house in NOLA's best 'hood. Loved being walking distance to Frenchman St, Ayu Bakehouse, Confederacy of Cruisers bike tours, and so much more.

Samantha was a great host who was very communicative. The space is so unique and very authentic to New Orleans. I loved the decor and the experience of staying in a shotgun style home.

This property is very well located, no complaints there. I could say so many negative things, I’ll just list a few.
Kitchen and cupboards plus all dishes and utensils were filthy. Cupboards were full of other peoples half used crap food. Couldn’t even use the pots and pans as they were disgusting even after washing them. Had to go and buy a Scotch Brite as the one that was there looked like they clean the floor with it. No other dish clothes to be found. We got locked out of the kitchen three times as the door knob locks on you when you close it. The stove had so much animal hair under the gas grills. The bathroom shower is full of mold, toilet runs on. The back deck was filthy as was the entrance to it. Ok I’ll quit. Oh ya, there isn’t even slip covers over the pillows to keep them clean under a pillow case the pillows had so many yellow stains we had to buy new ones. This place could be great if someone went in a gutted all the clutter and crap everywhere. Laundry room was almost dangerous on entering for the crap on every shelf. Put some TLC Into this property and let your guest live in their own mess not others.

We loved staying at this shotgun house. It was full of character and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the location can't be beat. A quick walk to get coffee and Frenchman Street is a 6 minute walk. Full of restaurants and great music. It was quiet too, great neighborhood to explore. We would stay here again.

Authentic shotgun house. Great location.
No issues.

Very convenient to everything. The place is nice and comfortable. Couple things could use addressing: 1) lack of trash cans outside of kitchen or bathroom. Long shotgun house so it is a long walk just to toss a tissue. 2) The dish drying rack is rusted and needs to be replaced. Not so much complaints, just suggestions to owner to make things a little better very cheaply. Overall, you will like this place and the proximity to Frenchman St, Quarter, Bywater, and all the restaurants and music places.

Excellent house walking distance from everything
A clean place with a big living room, comfy beds, a lovely back deck, and central air (!). The layout of a classic shotgun house may take a little getting used to, but at the same time was a great introduction to the style of New Orleans. the fact that we were a 10 minute walk to almost anywhere in the core was such an important element. We had a wonderful stay.

This house was charming, and decorated for NOLA lovers, full of eccentric and whimsical art. Yet all the conveniences were there, and it had a lovely closed in back yard. We could walk to Frenchmen in 10 minutes. A grocery store two blocks away. Great place to stay when visiting New Orleans.
