Great stay in Narbonne! Excellent and extra-ordinary town house.

Absolutely great place to stay, comfortable and spacious and the host Denis is an absolute gentleman. Took the trains to Bezier, Carcasonne, Toulouse and Aix-en-Provence. Liked them all but still prefer Narbonne for the laid back atmosphere. Definitely be back.

We are 2 couples, one from Australia the other from Canada.
Denis met us at exit 37 Narbonne, and guided us to the house.
The house was everything as displayed on VRBO website.
It was clean, comfortable & well equipped with all necessities provided.
In the heart of Narbonne, easy to walk to all attractions.
The pool was very inviting, temps in mid 30’s for October unusually high.
The bedding was clean and very comfortable.
Denis was a great host, easy to communicate with via Google translate( he doesn’t speak English & I don’t speak French).
The parking was a little tight for a larger car but doable and we were grateful for the use of the garage.
A wonderful week was had by all.
Merci Denis.

We intended to spend a week in Narbonne, using it as a base. Our goal was to find a property that was very comfortable, had good cooking facilities and which was in easy reach of the town centre. The property met all these, in addition to having a pool and dining outside.
The downstairs floor is large and like someone's home. Everything you need - very generous. We used the downstairs bedroom and didn't have to go upstairs. The downstairs bathroom is modern; the toilet though is along a passage way.
Upstairs, however, is somewhat problematic, with three bedrooms and an assortment of bathroom and toilet options. The internal stairwell is narrow and steep but our friends coped fine with it. The parking is a challenge. There are a couple of other apartments in the complex but we felt we had the place to ourselves.
The photos on the website are quite accurate. The owner provided quick responses to our questions. The apartment is easily large enough for two or more couples.
Narbonne itself is great. The market is sensational. Within a couple of minutes of closing the door to the street you can be out in the main square or walking under the avenue of plane trees.
If you want an example of quintessential southern France accommodation right in the middle of a lovely town, this might well be it.

Nice place with a good location. Very special!

The communication from Denis, our host, was great. The historic property had a large open plan reception room leading to the kitchen. Four bedrooms all with shower or bath. Two bedrooms had a WC and the other two share a toilet on the ground floor. The property was quirky and charming with a narrow staircase to the first floor. The central courtyard with pool was stunning. Under cover table tennis and table football too. On site parking. Two minutes walk from the centre of Narbonne with boulangeries and cafés just around the corner. We loved every minute and would recommend this unique property. We hope to return.

We stayed for two weeks at this very special location with two families, each consisting of two parents and a young adult. It was like staying in the house of friends: very well decorated with a personal touch with plenty of room for each. The kitchen is well equiped for serious cooking, but we barbecued as well. Bathrooms are spacious and comfortable. Of course the pool is literally the centre of the house. All in all, this house feels like a home away from home. I'm sure we will come back to enjoy this city palace and everything Narbonne have to offer.

Traumwohnung

Beautiful property in the historic centre
A beautiful property in the heart of the medieval city just 100m from the main square, cathedral, restaurants and canal. The property is beautiful with fantastic high ceilings and comfortable beds, sofas, swimming pool furniture. Well equipped. This is not chic (the photographs give a realistic picture), but a real pleasure to stay in such a beautiful building, so perfectly placed. We went sightseeing around the region and beaches every day, enjoyed the refreshing pool on our return and found some excellent restaurants in Narbonne or bought from the closed food market (delicious). The staircase to get upstairs is very precarious and despite 3 bathrooms upstairs there is only one loo in one of the bedrooms.
A warm welcome reserved from the host.
We certainly recommend.

Outstanding character property in the heart of Narbonne
Great place in a great location, this was a wonderful property and perfect location. I wish it had been warmer, so that we could have used the pool. Altogether, a great wayto see Narbonne and the surrounding area.

Fabulous huge apartment right in center of town
Loved this place. Great location, extremely well equipped and very comfortable. Easy walking distance to Les Halles the fantastic daily indoor market, as well as many stores, restaurants and bars along the Canal du Midi. Access to parking on site with anything more than a very small car is not a great idea...but the public parking is convenient and inexpensive. Our stay here was just delightful. Denis the owner met us at the apartment and was also very helpful. Highly recommend.

Perfect site for an active family vacation
Our family enjoyed our stay tremendously. The hotel is beautifully designed & furnished, very well stocked with supplies and very clean. All amenities were included. Our 8-year-old enjoyed the spaciousness & sports equipment. His grandparents were easily able to navigate the historic spiral staircase. The kitchen was amazing with enough dishes for a banquet. It's just around the corner from shops, a supermarket & the city center. Our day trips included Carcassonne, Brisson & Roquefort. The owner provided transportation to & from the train station. Narbonne is an historic city. It was exciting to see the beautiful restoration of this building, with its painted ceilings dating to 1640. The hotel was perfect for a family vacation. We had everything we needed, and more. We highly recommend it.

Charm Character & Beauty
This house is fantastic, we loved it.
The history, the character & warmth of this 1640s convent was remarkable.
The swimming pool was well maintained & regularly used.
The owner Denis greeted us with warmth & was very informative and helpful
There were 3 couples in our group with 2 cars & although it was challenging to negotiate the narrow streets, we were able to have our cars garaged at the property which is a rarity.
Thank you Denis for allowing us to stay in your home as it made our one weeks stay in Narbonne very special.
We would highly recommend this home to those who appreciate the beauty & character of an aged home and decorated with a very homely style.

Upon arrival we were met by Deniss son, Arnaud, as Denis himself was away. Arnaud spoke excellent English and explained everything to us very well.Communication with Denis before our stay was easy despite my limited French and he was very prompt in responding to any queries that we had. In addition to the charm and the location, the accommodation had everything we needed. We were in Narbonne in March when the Tramontane was gusting at 60mph and was bitterly cold. The house was always lovely and warm and a welcome haven to return to in the evening. Everything worked well and the kitchen was very well equipped. There was a generous dining table between the kitchen and living area and overall, it was a very attractive space. The main living area in particular was spacious with a lovely atmosphere. As to the courtyard and swimming pool: no matter that it was a cold March, it was still a delight to look out on from the three huge sets of French windows in the living room.My only word of caution and the reason for 4 rather than 5 stars was that the staircase was rather difficult to negotiate carrying a full suitcase as it is narrow, it curves at the top and the individual steps themselves are not very wide. This isnt a problem for the able-bodied but anyone with mobility problems could well struggle.Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay in this house and would definitely recommend it.

Quirky fun stay in the heart of the Historical city
The villa is part of a larger compound, all sharing a common courtyard and garage. It is large and comfortable though not luxurious. It has every tool needed to prepare meals of any size. It has washer and dryer which we used and appreciated. The beds were comfortable. We were uncomfortable parking our rented minivan in the garage due to the very tight road and approach to the garage itself. We parked in a very nearby 24 hour parking garage. We were warmly welcomed by the owners son. If you need space to spread out and want to be in the center of town, this charming historical villa is for you !

Great location
We loved our weeklong stay at this Narbonne apartment. It is in an historic mansion that is right in the center of the old town. We could walk minutes to great restaurants and shopping, or drive minutes to beaches. It's a great home base for exploring the south of France. The house itself is incredibly spacious, a bit quirky and full of character. We really loved it.

A jewel! A great home base for touring the area or relaxing and having a great vacation by the pool
We loved it for our family - lots of space and close to many wonderful places to visit. A little oasis in an already lovely town. If you want to relax and enjoy the south of France and Languedoc I can think of no better place to be.

Beautiful house
Just returned from a 2 week stay at this delightful house. Perfect location, so close to the heart of Narbonne. House is spotless and extremely comfortable and a great place to relax at the end of the day. Great pool which was very welcome as weather was very hot. We arrived by train and Denis very kindly picked us up from the train station. We visited Bezier, Pezenas( incl the fabulous Saturday market), Cascasone and Perpignan which are all easily accessible on the train. Would definitely return

Perfect location, large and well outfitted home--great for families.
This is a very nice home with large, light-filled rooms, a garage, pool and terrace. The kitchen has a US-sized fridge, many dishes/glasses, all the modern appliances, pots and pans, etc. The location is superb--a 5 minute walk to the center square, canal, cafes, shops and restaurant. The garage fits 2 cars but the street leading to the garage is very, very narrow and small cars are recommended. A few notes: the pool is unheated and shared, the game tables need maintenance but are functional, and the washing machine is finicky. The owner is very kind and helpful but speaks limited English. The outdoor terrace is large and lovely. The home is quiet and secure. I recommend this home without reservations.

Beautiful home in a beautiful town
What a delight to spend a week in this lovely home! As noted in other reviews, the property is situated just steps from the very center of town, on a charmingly narrow street. We spent two days just exploring Narbonne on foot, and loved going to the market and buying fresh food for our meals. Other days, we drove to Carcassonne, or the Canal du Midi or the beach. It's a rich area to explore and this rental property is the perfect home base. It's spacious and welcoming, warm and relaxing. Sit by the pool or on the balcony or on one of the very comfortable sofas feel all your stress disappear. Denis is a wonderful host! He was kind enough to meet us at the highway and have us follow him to the house so we wouldn't get lost, even though we were quite delayed by traffic leaving Barcelona and didn't get in until late. All in all, this is a spectacular place to rent and we highly recommend it!

We spent a wonderful week
Five of us spent a wonderful week here right in the center of beautiful, fascinating Narbonne. You walk around the corner from the main square into a narrow street, open the door, and there you are in the beautiful courtyard shown in the picture. This is an interesting 17th century house, clean, roomy, and well-equipped. We especially enjoyed sitting outdoors in the courtyard, where we had most of our meals. Denis is an efficient, accessible and friendly host.
