You can see the ocean from the living room and dining room, or go out to the backyard for an even better view. We spent quite a bit of time at the bench just watching the waves from the backyard. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. The street the house is on is quiet and we didn't see/hear any neighbors. The house is located along the nice stretch of sandy beach between Yachats and Waldport, but the beach access from the house is difficult for older folks like us. So we drove down to Governor Patterson state park just a few minutes away with easy beach access. The cottage itself could use some TLC. The carpets are badly stained and the living room smelled like wet dog our entire stay. (we don't have a dog) There were ants in the kitchen as soon as we arrived, and maintenance brought an ant bait the next day but we still had to deal with ants. The king bed was very firm and not comfortable and the TV remote wasn't working. We were happy to see decent weather in early October, plenty of sun. On the day we checked out, it was 80 degrees by 11am (crazy) so we hung out at the state park and enjoyed the beach. We drove to Florence to eat at Mo's one day, and enjoyed fish and chips from Luna Sea Fish House in Yachats another day. C&K Market in Yachats has everything you need including a large variety of fresh produce. We also took a drive to find the Yachats covered bridge.

Very comfortable with a great view and semi-easy access down to the beach. The only thing that was disappointing was that the king size bed was made but obviously the bedding had not been cleaned. The sheets were littered with sand and food crumbs, and the awful smell of patchouli was overwhelming. The dishes appeared to have just been put away by the cleaning crew as many of the dishes and pans were wet, and the silverware had crusted food on them. I know that the turn around time is tight between guests, but better care in cleaning should be given when the owner and the guests are paying for this service. I would still rent this cottage again as it was perfect otherwise. Hopefully someone can speak to the cleaning staff about this.

The view of the ocean cannot be beat, and the fenced back yard is great for the kids. While the property is not spotless and not without a few warts, you'll be hard-pressed to find an oceanfront property that is perfect--especially one that accepts pets. This one checks A LOT of boxes and we will not hesitate to stay again. As others note, beach access is a bit tricky having to navigate rocks/boulders at the bottom of the stairs, probably a hazard for the elderly. But, the cottage itself is accessible with no noted safety hazards from our last visit (though the stove top is not fully functional--right side burners do not operate if memory serves . . . no matter, we used the gas grill almost exclusively anyway).

There were stains on ALL carpets. Paint pealing off the wall. Dings and dents on the walls. Bathroom floor was gross. Not cleaned very well. We found a "magic eraser" sponge on the bedroom floor. Ants crawling around. Even the baseboards were bad, one pulling away from the wall. In the VRBO post, there was a picture of a hot tub, when we got there, the motor was on, we looked for the lock box code only to find out it was unavailable for use.

Beautiful view and location. The first thing we were greeted with to when entering the front door into the laundry room was a ceiling peeling apart and the carpets are pretty stained, the front right burner doesn't work on the stove and most things in the kitchen seemed mismatched but things were clean except the frying pans, they had cooked on food in them, but the scouring pad worked fine for the ones we wanted to use. We also couldn't get the tv to work, there is no CBL button on the remotes as described in the instructions. The house definitely needs some upgrading and the slider track could use some cleaning, it's very difficult to open and close, but again I will say that the location and the view were phenomenal and we took great advantage of the bench in the back yard to watch the waves and sunsets.

Updated kitchen and amazing views. A great comfortable place to stay on the Oregon Coast. Could use some updates like new carpet or floorcoverings and a coat of paint throughout but comfortable and clean. A working lock on the bathroom door would be a nice addition too.I would stay again because the location and viiews can't be beat.

Couldn't put items on the counters, had to wipe the ants off the toilet seat, you'd sit on the couch and the ants would be crawling on you and we couldn't eat at the dining table the ants would be crawling on your arms, hands and plates.

We were all quite disappointed that there was no access from the house or neighborhood, that we could find, down to the beach. The house was well stocked although we all thought it is in need of a deep cleaning and it could be ready soon for a remodel. A investment that would pay off! In its current condition we thought it was overpriced. But the queen bed was sooo comfortable! I slept like a baby!

Upon first entering the house and opened door was met with terrible smell (burnt oil smell and rancid best guess), went to store and bought two Febreze cans and candles and opened windows and turned-on fans. Smell was something hard to get over and lasted most of stay. Stove only had one side that worked. ripped screens and back door slider was rough to open with broken handle. Pots were dirty and found dishwasher would work but soap put in was still there after cycle so hand washed. Amazing view but home definitely needs some maintenance. Rented because of hot tub but then was told we could not use it, door was locked but could hear hot tub running so uncertain of reason. We love the area and go yearly if not several times/year but will not rent this unit again, or at least until some maintenance is done.

Even going as far as giving us one night’s refund for the inconveniences we encountered. The house, as often happens, is not quite as nice as the photos online. But still very liveable. Our issue was that the carpets had just been cleaned and were still very wet. The were few screens on the windows or sliding glass doors. One burner on the range did not work and the coffee pot carafe broke when filling with water.Again Ocean Odyssey was very responsive and brought a new coffee maker over the same morning

You cannot beat the view and the short walk to the beach. I am sorry to report that each year we are watching it become more and more worn down. I reported several items to property mgmt during our stay in 2021 and when we arrived in 2022 they not taken care of and there were more issues. Hopefully someone will take this property under their wing and give it some love.

The house seems to be a work in progress and is a little funky, but that is what we like. Updated kitchen was very nice. The beach access is just 3 houses down. For us it was an easy access but for some, climbing over the large boulders at the bottom might not be. Wonderful sunset views and lot's of outdoor furniture to relax on. Dogs enjoyed the partially fenced in yard. The description says that the property does not provide coffee filters, but there are probably 500 of them that others have left! For the life of me I couldn't figure out the remote for the TV very well. Maybe some better instructions? Garbage trucks on Monday morning were a bit loud as they backed up and stopped to empty cans right outside the bedroom wall. We would love to rent this home again.

Absolutely a beautiful view, and whether your sitting in the yard or down at the beach, which is just a few steps away, it just does not get any better than that (well, unless your in the hot tub). Those sunsets are memorizing and it's definitely a memorable and a feel good moment. This cute cottage was very comfortable and very relaxing, and a definite place I'd return for vacation with my family. There are lots of close towns to visit for sightseeing, but Yachatz being our favorite is a must see, and is a very dog friendly town. It is only a quick 5 minute drive away with great shopping and great places to eat. Enjoy

Great. Only one issue. The bottom step on the front porch is broken and I believe dangerous. It needs to be replaced.

Though a bit small for a family of 5, the location is outstanding (minimal highway noise and vast ocean views) and the kids like the opportunity to use their sleeping bags anyway. The cottage was clean enough—could use some new carpet, but the coastal whether and rotating guests are understandably hard on things. We look forward to staying again in the future.

It was wonderful. The only complaints might be the missing bbq? We were shown pictures and given explicit instructions about the bbq and no bbq anywhere?? The screens need to be new and replaced and many are missing. The hot tub was fine but the lights didn’t work and looks like they haven’t for awhile. Nice house and great hot tub. We did not care for the neighborhood and it was a little difficult to get to the beach.

House was very clean. Kitchen was well stocked. Small fenced backyard with green grass. Hot tub was cleaned and sanitized before our arrival. The view was beautiful! Beach access was just a couple of doors down. Wish the weather would have cooperated. Major storm with hail and high winds. Cons: hot tub was nice but would have been better if all the Jets worked and the lights worked. Stained carpets in the bedroom need replaced. And as everybody else has mentioned, the handle on the sliding glass door is broke. Management is next to impossible to get a hold of. Had to get VRBO to help me contact them.
