Great location, beautiful scenery on the lake with privacy. Fishing was great!

We loved it! the house was perfect, neat and clean and great windows to look out on the lake. The property manager was super easy to work with and gave us some great recommendations. If i'm ever back in this area, this is where I will stay!

This was a lovely and spacious home in a beautiful waterfront setting! A perfect place for our family trip to nearby bucolic Norfolk CT wear my grandparents once lived and my mom grew up (hiking Haystack Mountain and Campbell Falls is highly recommended). And this house is close to Great Barrington (excellent Thai restaurant in GB) and everything GB and the Berkshires have to offer. We also enjoyed the Frog restaurant just a few minutes from the house in Sheffield (excellent food!). And the house was a comfortable place to land after our day trips. House has everything you need. The setting on the lake is just beautiful. And one of us had the marvelous experience kayaking on the lake one morning and a hot air balloon descended over the lake and seemed to almost touch down in the water before ascending again, just stunning! (We looked online and apparently there is a nearby hot air balloon business, very cool). Sunrises over the pond we’re stunning, and sitting for breakfast with the view of the lake was perfect. Check-in and out was easy, and owner was very communicative. We loved this place and we will be back!

These are the things we loved about this property but there were so many more - comfy beds , lots of little spaces to hang , light filled rooms , and the nicest homeowner . We loved our stay and we will be back!

This home has plenty of space for relaxation as well as being well equipped.

My stay on Bow Wow Road was such a WOW that I found myself missing it like home when I got home. From start to finish the communication with Gillian was prompt, pleasant and exceedingly helpful. It was obvious she cared about the experience of her guests and comforting to know that she was on hand should anything arise... but of course, nothing did, because she has thought of everything. I walked into a warm, welcoming space with a beautiful view and several cozy rooms and outdoor spaces to enjoy, including boats to explore the lake! Such a charming and ideal location to check out a lovely, interesting part of the country. My only complaint is that I intended to rent a spot to tackle some writing goals, but that was hopeless considering the endless options for entertainment in the area! A memorable stay. I hope I can return some day, because I barely scratched the surface of the Berkshires and cannot think of a more pleasant place or thoughtful host.

We had a fantastic time staying in the home. Very clean a well stocked. Very serene and private. Just a beautiful setting. We leave it k forward to returning.

Gillian was great at communicating, she was so kind to leave a bottle of wine for my husband’s birthday. The place was very clean and included everything you may need .. plenty of towels , blankets , toiletries, teas etc. the kitchen was a good size and the living room cute and cozy. We loved the inclosed porch and plenty of outdoor seating. We used th canoe, the pond has lots of plants growing and can be very thick at spots , but we saw turtles and fish. The house has a cottage feel and it was a relaxing getaway

A peaceful and delightful home and yard, with fire pit and ever changing views of the pond. Eagles, heron, geese, wood ducks, and a bluebird, were some of the outdoor guests this year. If you prefer activity, there's a canoe and kayak, many, many places to hike, walk on the road, close to theater, events, shopping in unique stores, and restaurants of every taste. Gillian is a gem. We've already booked for our third year (2024) :)

Had a family weekend here and could not be happier! The property is absolutely gorgeous, perfect for a long weekend of relaxation. The view of the water is beautiful, and we had a lovely time watching the resident eagle and listening to all the songbirds. Gillian is a phenomenal host and gave us amazing recommendations for food. She was also wonderful to talk to when we had questions. She made our stay fun and easy, and we’re so appreciative of all her tips! I can’t wait to come back, either with family again, or with a small group of friends to enjoy the lakeside view. This has quickly become one of my new favorite places, and I’ll be thinking about it until I can return 😊

What a great little spot just outside of Sheffield along Miller Pond! The house was cozy and met our needs. We only stayed the weekend, so didn't do much in the way of cooking. And with unfriendly weather, we didn't do much in the way of outdoors activity, of which there is plenty! But we used the time to relax, play cards, visit GB and friends and just rest. Nice place. Nice hosts. We will return!

Clean 🧽 older property well maintained with a living and family room

My family had a wonderful stay at this lovely property. There are beautiful views of the lake from every room. We spent many hours sitting on the screened porch watching the autumn leaves fall. The house is located close to many good restaurants and hiking trails. The house was very clean and the beds were comfortable. We didn’t cook but the kitchen looked well equipped. Looking forward to another visit

My sister and I stayed in April this year and then this October. It's becoming our comforting beloved peaceful retreat. Gillian is a sweetheart of a host. The location is quiet, yet close to nearly whatever you'd like or need. For those with bad knees like me, it has 2 small steps into the house, then 2 more small steps inside between the garage side and the main house. Its a doable single floor ranch. We love the eclectic decor indoors and the pond's activity outdoors. We'll be back next April.

Although it rained most of our stay, we loved the location and the surrounding area. Everything you need is here and the host couldn’t have been any nicer.

This property is beautifully, and privately, situated right on a lake. We visited at the height of foliage season and looking out across the lake at all the glorious colors was amazing (especially when you can see all that reflected in the lake). Gillian was a delight to deal with and her tastefully decorated home was welcoming and comfortable. She also supplied helpful information about the area - activities, restaurants, etc. All in all this was a wonderful experience.

Everything was as advertised. Gillian was very responsive. Her place was spotless, quiet, friendly neighbors, great fishing, a birders paradise, quality shopping close by and a definite place we will return to. What a perfect weekend!

We loved sitting on the screened porch, talking and reading. We're of a certain age, and so did not try out the boats or the bicycles or the ping-pong table, but they were there to be enjoyed. Right on a beautiful pond for fishing and boating, but not swimming. A great place for a country visit, very close to all the pleasures of the Berkshire Hills.

Fabulous cottage on the lake, enjoyed canoeing and enjoying the outdoors. Super close to both downtown Sheffield and Great Barrington. Dr Gillian was a fabulous host!

The huge hornet's nest made it impossible to enjoy the backyard and all lake activities. We had to leave early due to several stings.

We really enjoyed the thoughtful details in this home. The screened-in porch overlooking the lake was just the perfect setting for us to sit in the quiet beauty of the land. The short path to the lake where the dock and boats are was crafted as a natural trail within the property. Inside the home, charming decor and comfortable furnishings give just the right balance between modern conveniences and country style. Even indoors, the sliding doors and massive windows all look over the lake-side of the property, giving gorgeous views at any angle. A short drive away are supermarkets, restaurants, and nature trails. Before checking in, we had excellent amd responsive communication with our host. She was very accommodating and helpful. We couldn't have asked for a better getaway with a lovely, attentive host.

Went there to fish and relax and accomplished both. Very quiet location. Rooms were comfortable. I may have to go back and do this again next year.

my husband and i try to come stay at elterwater cottage at least once or twice a year. we love the location of the house on the lake, being able to kayak on mill pond, and we’ve discovered the sheffield and immediate surroundings by bike. we had the best weather last week and we will be back again soon. gillian is a fantastic host and is very approachable and responsive, thank you!!

The property was accurately represented by the listing. The area is quiet and peaceful with a wonderful private view of the lake. We enjoyed the kayaks, ping pong table, and hammock. This is not a fancy place, but is much more than a cabin....like a comfortable family home. The owner went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend.

This house is located on a nice and quiet street, with quiet neighbors and all around a nice change of pace for a city dweller like myself. I found it just far enough from town for peace, but also just close enough to everything you need! There are so many things to do in the area, and honestly I found everything I needed within a 30 minute drive from the house. The house itself was very very cozy, clean and had everything you could need like: pots, pans, appliances, washer dryer, extra linens, towels, all I need to bring was clothes and food (and there's a huge marketplace not even 10 minutes away for food shopping!). I joked around with the owner that I could have worked remotely from there as the internet connection was more than capable (wifi included with stay), also the cellular connection is also great for those on T-Mobile, so staying in contact with the outside world is not a problem if you choose to. I absolutely enjoyed my stay and I am planning to go back to the berkshires and stay at this very same home, maybe put some more use to the canoes the owner keeps on the property next time. For those who want a relaxing retreat, this is it! It's also located right around plenty of great hiking trails as well for the adventurists. And for those traveling with family, I was able to do many activities with small children myself, very family friendly house and location (careful around the water out back for kids who can't swim though). Gillian is a fantastic host, and she will make sure you have everything you need, she is an 11 out of 10, an absolute superhost. I hope this review helps someone make their decision, if it's a peaceful trip you are looking for, or an outdoor adventure, you will find it in this house and in the Berkshires!

The house is very comfortable and the pond makes for some amazing bird watching. We saw several types of birds of prey fishing, including a bald eagle! I also did some work there and the wifi was excellent. Gill is a great host and was very accommodating and helpful.

We absolutely loved our stay here! It's a wonderful place in a serene environment. The property is well cared for and the check-in process and communication with Gillian were excellent. A perfect spot to unwind and slow down. We can't wait to come back!
