What a beautiful home and gracious host. We truly enjoyed this getaway. Thank you Chris!

We take an annual family trip to this general area of Mt. Hood each summer. There are 14 of us ranging from age 6-82! Out of all the houses we have stayed at over the years this one has been our favorite by far! There were so many activities to do within the neighborhood, and lots of hiking and other outings near by. The river was very accessible, even for the oldest in our group. The house was very clean and with a well stocked kitchen. We would definitely stay again!

My husband and I renewed our vows on Mt. Hood with our closest friends and their families, after getting married under Covid restrictions in 2021. We stayed in Chris' cabin with a big group that included eight adults and four young children/babies and fit very comfortably. The cabin was perfect in every way -- fully stocked with everything you could ever need, with spacious living and dining spaces, and a huge deck with an incredible view of the mountains and access to the Sandy River just below. The VHS machine and collection of old cassette tapes in the kids' bunk room was a great touch, as was the jacuzzi on the deck! Chris was such a kind and generous host who responded quickly and went out of his way to accommodate us. This home is truly perfect for a family vacation. I recommend it to everyone and am already planning the next group trip here!

Great house, older cabin feel. Easy access to the river with beach area. It was great to sit on the deck and hear the roaring river. New carpet was nice.

My 4 siblings and I along with our families had a 5 day celebration of life and family reunion at this gorgeous location in the Sandy River. The house was perfect with lots of room for people to spread out either inside or outside. The bedrooms were amazingly quiet from the rest of the house; all you could hear was the river from your open windows.

Thank you for the lovely stay! We had our annual girl's cousins weekend and had two little ones under 1 with us. It was perfect for such a large group and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Everyone loved the house and it was well stocked!

We booked this house because of it's proximity to the river and the ability to house THREE families (6 adults, 6 kids). When we got there, we were even more impressed with the neighborhood itself- the pool, the swings, and the proximity to fishing/hiking/swimming for the kids. We never ran out of things to do! My favorite part of the house was the huge dining table, which we sat around each night and really enjoyed some fabulous family dinners- plus the massage chair was a nice added bonus. We would've loved a slightly earlier check in time (with young kiddos) but recognize that Ms. Linda (the wonderful woman who cleans the house) has a ton of work to do in order to get it ready. That was really the ONLY thing I would improve. Thank you for such a wonderful stay! We would love to visit again :)

Can't beat the location--right on the river. So many amenities, so cozy. We love it here.

We lived. We laughed. And we loved. Just a group of fellas who enjoyed the cozy and spacious accommodations. Grillin’, hot tubbin’, and enjoyin’ the fabulous view of the river were just what we needed after strenuous days of hiking the bodacious trails of Mt. Hood National Forest. Bathroom facilities were fabulous. The plethora of kitchen appliances were top notch. And there were ample craft supplies. Chris’ communication was fast and cheerful. Just wish the N64 wasn’t missing the TV connection cable ;)

Lovely property! It had everything that we needed except we had some difficulty with WiFi. However since we did not miss it too much we did not check in with owner about it so could be user error.
There were some meandering trails within the neighbourhood but if you want a longer hiking trail, you will need to drive a bit.
The home was well looked after and has a spectacular view!

We really enjoyed our stay! We planned to do a lot of activities in the area, but the property was so nice and relaxing that we ended up spending more time there just hanging out with the kids and relaxing. The river access, the views, and the sound of the rushing water were amazing. Connectivity was slow in general, but that was very helpful in getting the kids off their devices!

Everything was clean and they thought of everything in the cupboards for our stay.
Helpful property manager and owner.

“This place is perfect”… I heard that phrase several times as our group of 9 enjoyed a visioning retreat in this well provisioned, well cared for Lodge. The Host and Caretaker were attentive to our inquiries and needs, clearly communicative and friendly. The setting is powerful, with the Sandy River a steady inspiring presence, conveying a sense of natural wonder. We are grateful for the experiences we enjoyed in the sanctuary of the Lodge.

Beautiful log cabin like home, spacious, well stocked and incredible deck and view with the sound and sight of the gushing river right off the deck of the house.
Owner very responsive.
Hope to be back during warmer and dryer weather.

This past weekend, we had 12 people, adults and kids, enjoy a wonderful three days at this property. This house sits in a wonderful location and the view of the Sandy River is gorgeous. The house is in a very quiet neighborhood and is very secure. We enjoyed all of the space and multiple bedrooms for all the families. This house is equipped with everything you need in the kitchen and linen closets. We would love to enjoy this house in the summer season too. The communication with the owners and House Cleaner were very prompt and supportive.

We had our first "friends giving" in a handful of years here. First time with kids ranging from 4-11.
The place was large and spacious, including the kitchen and dining area, perfect for the 5 adults and 3 kids that were there.
The access down to the river was great to let the kids run and play and explore the river bank.
Will definitely plan on coming back!

Great property! It was a perfect place for a couple of families to gather for a weekend on the mountain. The kids loved the bunkbed room, and the parents all loved having their own bedrooms without the kids! The hot tub has a particularly exquisite view of the river and surrounding forest. The house itself was perfect. Great soft carpets and even a massage chair! Would stay here again!

The cabin was beautiful. Everything worked like expected and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed and then some. The microwave is top of the line as is the toaster oven. The beds were comfortable and the cabin was spacious enough for everyone. We will be back.

Despite some unfortunate, unpreventable experiences we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this house to others!
We had 8 adults and 8 children staying with us, so we had a challenging time finding a space large enough. We're thankful we found this Sandy River house. It was exactly what we wanted - enough space and bathrooms for all 16 of us, amazing view, close to the mountain for sledding and large common areas. We could fit 8-10 at the table easily and the living room has two large couches. Three of the four bedroom are large and while one is smaller, it was not too small. There were 7 twin size beds available in the bunk room. That bunk room also had a tv and vcr with vintage kids movies.
While we were there the ice storm hit (on our first day) so we had a treacherous drive. Chris kindly allowed us an earlier check-in so we didn't have to drive in the dark during the storm. Unfortunately, the next morning the power went out and stayed off the entirety of our stay so we had no electricity, no hot water, no WIFI, etc. We used the wood stove to heat the house and it worked beautifully! The wood stove gets hot. Caution to all - don't touch! We made due with all the flashlights they had at the house and got creative with heating food on the wood stove. A few notes: there is sufficient parking for 4 cars, the trail from the house leads down to the river where there is a "beach" which during the snow, was a great place to have a snowball fight.

Stayed a weekend with friends and spouse and a great time. The view of the river is breathtaking and I love listening to the water. The cabin was just like the pictures and had plenty of room for 6 people. It was the perfect place to have a quiet getaway and still super close by local shops and restaurants. Would definitely come back again!

We definitely hope to come back here. This home was spectacular. The home was very clean and well appointed. The kitchen had everything we needed for Thanksgiving. The location on the river was literally breath taking. I want to go back in the summer time when we can be outside more. Love this place!

This was the perfect location for our tiny wedding reception. The deck alone is reason enough, lots of seating and space with an unbeatable view of the river. Guests kept commenting on what a great find the place was, and making comments on how we’d have to have a friends weekend and rent it again. The owner, Chris, was very quick to respond and helpful. We absolutely would recommend the location.

This house - the location, the amenities - were absolutely perfect for our friend group of 14. Everyone had a bed to sleep on, the kitchen was extremely well stocked and there was plenty of common space between the living room, dining area and the amazing deck for everyone to spread out. The view and access to the river is just as great as it looks in the photos, and everyone kept commenting that we had picked the perfect place for a relaxing mountain weekend. Thanks, Chris and Melanie!

Awesome place to stay for our extended family. Kids loved the beach and the river, as well as the community pool. Kitchen is very well stocked.

Wow! We usually take our annual girls weekend to the beach but wanted to try somewhere new this time that could accommodate our group of seven. We did not regret our decision! Upon entering the property I immediately noticed it smelled and looked absolutely spotless and clean. The decor is rustic and beautiful, the view is stunning, the beds were warm and inviting and the house had everything we needed including a fully stocked kitchen. The hot tub was hot, relaxing and paired nicely with the blanket of stars and the sounds of the gorgous Sandy River racing below. We spent almost a full day down at the beachy access and small swimming hole, enjoyed home cooked meals, laughs and card games on the expansive deck, and slept like logs. We even saw a bald eagle on our last morning sipping our coffee on the deck. Highly recommend a stay at this beautiful cabin and we definitely plan to return again!

This was a great place to stay at, easily slept 9 adults and 6 little kids. The view from the back deck was great and had easy access to the river. The community pool access was a really nice bonus. Everything was as described in the listing! I wish the check-in time was a little earlier than 5PM, but this was otherwise an exceptional place to stay. We hope to be back again next year!

Three families gathered for a friend reunion. Plenty of space to spread out- both indoors and outdoors. Kids loved the bunk bed room and the hot tub. The house was a little more dated than expected but overall was a great layout for a big group! One thing that threw us off was, the cleaning lady was still at the house when we arrived (at 5:30pm) and didn’t leave until around 8pm…

We enjoyed our stay very much. Wish we could have stayed longer. Chris was a very responsive and welcoming host and went out of his way to make sure we were able to have a wonderful stay. Our party was able to swim in the river, tubed down the rapids although the currents got strong on our last day and caught a small trout. The hot tub was a big hit too. We needed two places to fit our big party and the A frame next to his was available and made the trip even more convenient. Highly recommend!

Our group of 14 loved our stay on the river. Although it was more rustic than our picky-non-paying teens wanted, it had everything we needed for a long weekend stay. Each couple had their own room and our kids enjoyed having their own twin beds in the bunk room. We were pleasantly surprised to see there were 6 twins in the kid room instead of 4, so the teens didn’t have to share the twin trundle. The swimming areas right in front of the property were perfect for our group since we were able to corral all the young ones into the little coves on the sandy shores. The community pool and basketball court were a close walk for the kids and our husbands were able to go golfing just a short drive away. Chris was very communicative so we felt like we were staying with an uncle instead of just a homeowner. We picked this place as a last minute stay but will definitely be back again if they’ll have us.

This home is suited to those who wish to spend quiet time with family. It is nestled into a quiet neighborhood with a great front porch and a full view of the river from the back deck. The deck is large and three-tiered with room for the BBQ, hot tub and sitting in a small group. Lots of chairs, tables and benches. The "misters" were a great surprise. Access to a small beach area requires stepping down a few boulders. There is a trail past the house that is an easier path. This section of the river is suitable for for wading rather than swimming. Having one bedroom on the main floor is great for those who wish to avoid stairs. All of the beds and linens were quality. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and utensils. Our host and housekeeper were attentive and very responsive. The check-in was easy and everything was in working order. We had a great time.

This property needs to be professional cleaned, There are rings in the toilets !. Had approval for early check-in for 4pm instead of 5pm but the cleaning person was their until 7pm and the house was vacant 2 days before our arrival. The cleaning woman lied to me saying the check-in was changed to 5pm when I arrived at 4:35; I assumed she would be gone by 5pm however she worked until 7pm. There was plenty of time for this house to be cleaned before we arrived. This was a family birthday surprise for my husband. While the location is beautiful the house was not as described and presented based on the website photos/ descriptions. Very disappointed spoke with owner when he arrived on time to clean the outside, all he offered was an apology saying he only cleans the outside, not the inside. In my mind the owner is responsible for all issues. The sliding glass door lock to the back porch has been broken so long it is described in their check-in book. Wifi was not available all of the time. I have rented many VRBOs and this one was the worst for being clean--but there is no excuse for the property not being ready when it was book 6 months in advance.

The house was spacious yet cozy. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds comfortable. The view is truly beautiful , surpassed our expectations.
Some constructive criticism:The toilets all had rings, dark ones. It is a very wrong impression from the get go. Pumice stone would help. The patchwork sofa is lumpy and uncomfortable and has seen better days . We all enjoyed our stay. Thank you for the hospitality. The Bells
