We had a great time. Property and lake was very private and quiet. Jon who lives next door was available for information and was very helpful. The kids loved the lake and took advantage of the kayaks and canoe. There was a enough room for our family and there was enough living room for everyone to relax.

Beautiful house, warm, spacious, and inviting. Jon was friendly with communications and greeting.
Great location for day trips to Tahquamenon, Pictured Rocks, and Mackinac Island. We lucked out with 5 days of blue skies and high 70's, all in all a wonderful stay.

Our stay was awesome, the cabin is larger than the pictures show it’s very clean and secluded! You do need to supply your own toilet paper and toiletries but you won’t mind!
This property does have a dock so getting in and out of the lake is a breeze!
If you are looking to recreate those old family vacation memories THIS IS THE SPOT! We Loved the entire stay! Hope to stay again next summer!

The property is on large and quiet Brevort Lake with hard packed sandy bottom and shallow depth; great for jet skis, kayaking, swimming, and fishing. It’s within one mile of access to the North Country Trail, ATV trails are practically across the street, Lake Michigan is a 10 minute drive away, St Ignace is about 20 miles away, and Tahquamenon/Sault St Marie within an hour’s drive. Jon and Teri are very kind, and available without being intrusive.
The deck area provides a fantastic view and a great place to hang out, while the inside is open and bright. Our large family had a wonderful time and we appreciate the fact that Jon and Teri were willing to accommodate us.
(Be aware that there are 21 steps to get upstairs to the actual unit. Paper products are not provided and be sure to bring any spices or condiments you might need.)

A lovely place in a great location with caring owners and would rent again.
Things done well: good communication w/ owner, clean, in good condition, comfortable and great location/property.
Things needed (in our opinion): mattresses (a couple of them need replacing), paper goods (IE, they don't provide toilet paper/paper towels, which to us was unusual).
Other then the beds, it was an overall wonderful place to stay.

Eagles flew past almost close enough to touch several times from the wonderful front balcony.
The space was clean, comfortable, and spacious!

Beautiful home! Pictures don’t do it justice. Perfect for large groups. Secluded location but within close proximity to many points of interest in the UP.

Great location. Cottage is just as described. Everything you might need is provided. Beach is sandy as is the lake bottom. Very suitable for small children. The lake is very large with very little boat traffic. A very relaxing place to stay and the host is out to make your stay enjoyable.

Beautiful view, very quiet - heard loons at night and saw the bald eagles fly by during the day. Size was as advertised, and well supplied for all water activities. Owner lives next door and does use downstairs for storage and workshop; very responsive with any and all issues we had, including a forgotten much loved stuffy that he sent with haste to our young kiddo. The bedding and towels could do with a refresh, but all were clean and serviceable. Overall a very relaxing spot, thank you for having us!

A beautiful home with a great view and yard. Kitchen has all you need. Just needs a deep clean and maybe some updated linens. The host was excellent at communicating everything we needed to know. I recommend this property!

We used this as 'home base' for a hiking trip in the Upper Peninsula. Easy access to all the great sites. Comfortable house that is very easy to feel like home.

Jon was so very helpful and kind! We put in 400 miles of buggy riding and coming back to a comfortable, clean place was great. The flight of stairs was a little tough at the end of the day for a couple of “seniors” in the group ;)

Thanks for being such great hosts. It was so easy asking questions and booking. This is a beautiful and clean home with lots of space for cooking, board games, and a cozy stay inside with a great dock for boating and an awesome spacious third story porch. The lake has great fishing for small mouth bass, pike, and perch. I love the seclusion of the location.

Eagles nest was a beautiful lake home with all the amenities you’ll need on a beautiful, peaceful lake. Jon the owner was great with communication and making sure we had everything we needed. Would recommend this property to anyone.

The Eagles Nest was a beautiful place for our little family vacation. A quiet (minus our kids lol) place with a beautiful view day and night. Listening to the loons was the topping on the cake. Jon was a great host and very friendly. The accommodations were wonderful. I can't say enough how much we loved the place. It truely had a homely feeling. We were extremely appreciative of Jon and families hospitality. We would highly recommend The Eagles Nest and cannot wait to be back.

Wonderful place
We had a great time staying in this cabin. It was very clean and there was plenty of room for the ten of us.
The yard was fantastic, the view amazing.we loved having the kayaks and canoe to use.it was nice that Jon was next door, he checked with us a few times to see if we needed anything.
We would love to stay there again someday.

Great unplugged family time
Jon, the host, was quick to respond to any questions and made sure I had all the information I needed for our stay. The house was in a beautiful setting. Very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. While this wasn’t an issue for me, but it was for our younger guests- the listing does say there is WiFi and there was not. And cell service was very spotty. The fish are huge, but bring a net if you hope to get them into the boat with you. Beds are firm, but comfortable. I would bring your own pillow though. Thank you for sharing your secluded, beautiful home with us. We really enjoyed it.

Beautiful & peaceful getaway!
Wonderful family getaway! Beautiful cabin on a lovely, secluded lake. Our hosts were gracious, friendly, and very accommodating! Everyone enjoyed watching the eagles, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and fishing, along with the nighttime campfires by the water.
Our week at the Eagles Nest went by much too quickly. We all enjoyed an amazing week full of relaxation and making wonderful family memories. We would absolutely recommend the Eagles Nest to everyone!
Thank you, Mattesons, for your gracious hospitality!

Beautiful and peaceful location close to many great attractions.
Good experience. Came a little early so we didn’t catch many fish. Lake is beautiful. Close to many attractions. Host was very friendly. Thank you for allowing us to use your place to reconnect with our family.

Secluded place with great views, pictures were as described
The place was easy to find especially when the owner gave direct instructions to us. Great home, secluded, very clean, beautiful view since it's by the lake, full kitchen and the owner is very accommodating. You do need to go up a flight of stairs to go to the main home but that didn't bother us. The only thing that we didn't like was that the beds were old and kinda uncomfortable. And make sure to bring your own toilet paper and paper towels.

Wonderful location! Super friendly host. Wonderful canoe and kayaks and shallow entry to lake that was safe for kids. Central to the many wonderful parks at the UP. Would love to come back. Made wonderful family memories! Thank you!

Peaceful and Relaxing
This cabin on the lake is absolutely beautiful. We had a campfire by the water and watched the sun set, while the moon and stars came to life. The hosts were gracious and very accommodating to our group. We would highly recommend this property for a family / friend get-together.

Peaceful and Beautiful
Great family place! It was a quiet lake with an amazing view. The cabin was really nice and was in good condition. The property owner lives next door and checked in on is regularly to see if we needed anything. The kids had a blast kayaking and canoeing on the lake. We had a campfire by the water and listened to the wildlife. It was a short drive to Taquannamon Falls or to a Mackinac Island ferry. There was a crib for the baby and a pack-n-play so that was very convenient. Only downside I would say is that the queen beds were old, springy and not super comfortable. I would recommend bringing bug spray, sharp knives or knife sharpening stone. If you have anyone very large in your family, you should bring your own life jackets because the ones they had were not very big. Overall, we would stay here again as we loved the quiet lake and the location.

Beautiful in every way
We loved our stay very much. It is a beautiful home and property. Jon was very friendly and accessible. The bunk room for the kids was amazing. This is a great property for one or (two or three depending on size) more families to stay.
The only negative was the adult beds, which we found pretty uncomfortable.

Great Getaway in the UP
We really enjoyed this property and the beautiful lake views from the balcony! It is within a shirt drive of many of the great places in the UP, a very convenient location and also very peaceful! There is a nice little dock and sandy beach area that was nice for the kids in our party. Beds were comfortable and plenty of space for our party of 8 to sit down in the evenings to relax. The kitchen had everything we needed, it was also nice to have AC on the warmer days while we were there. Our kids enjoyed fishing, tons of little perch that made it fun for them to catch and release for hours! The kayaks and canoe were great to have available as well. Our week went by too fast!

Trifecta
1), Great Lake (70 percent National forest) with sandy bottom and vast shallow swim area, 2) private yard area for yard games, fire pit etc 3) Beautiful woodwork inside, tastefully decorated and laid out very well with windows and balcony overlooking the lake. Had a great time!

Okay stay
The house was clean and the property owner was really nice and easy to talk with. We struggled getting comfortable in the house. The two queen beds were not comfortable and very worn. Our kids also complained that the bunk beds were difficult to get in and out of and there was only one ladder to do so. The living room furniture was also VERY uncomfortable. Combining these things and the not ideal weather that forced us to stay inside the stay did not go well.

We have a great time ! Everything we need was right there. Loved having kayaks and all the amenities. Wish we could have stayed longer. We’ll be back !

I can not say enough great things about The Eagles Nest. The pictures do not do this property justice. We loved our time at The Eagles Nest and the 10 of us (8 adults, 2 Children) had plenty of space. Jon stopped by shortly after we arrived to make sure we got settled and answer any questions we had. We spent one day exploring Mackinac Island, but the rest of our stay was spent on site enjoying the private beach, a little wiffle ball tournament in the back yard, and cruising around the lake on the provided kayaks and canoe. I would 100% recommend this property and will absolutely be staying here again.
