Historic "Wilbur Morse" Friendship Maine Ocean Home

We had 6 adults (3 generations) staying in this beautiful house in Friendship, ME. It was so clean and so spacious. Everything we could have possibly needed was there. The water access was amazing. We saw fireworks over the harbor our first and last nights. We visited several nearby towns and ate lobster every day. Gil and Sharon were fabulous hosts. The only thing I can say about the listing is that it was even better than the pictures.

We had such an amazing week over the 4th with my family and friends to celebrate a birthday. The owners are so kind and happy to accommodate needs. They even tracked down a pack n play and a couple youth life jackets for us. Sharon suggested a few activities for the kids which they loved. Especially the 4th of July parade. Thanks for an amazing week!

This property and landlords were amazing. The women of our family vacation together every several years and this place made this trip a winner for all of us. We love the house and wharf! Many hours were spent around the fire pit. Now everyone has to get a kyack after playing in the ones here. A outstanding setting and host and hostess. They are fantastic ambassadors for the state of Maine. Gil and Sharon thanks for the wonderful memories we made at your lovely house.

Sharon & Gil greeted us upon arrival to go through the house and explained how things worked, and how to steam all the live lobsters they furnished for us! The home is amazing, wonderful bedding, great views of the water and our private dock!! Definitely would love to come back and stay there again!!

We love the location.... apparently since we stayed here 4 our 5 times.
We had lobster delivered to the dock! Kayaks are a great way to see the harbor and ocean.
Sharon and Gil are always gracious hosts. Thank you for making this home available to rent.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had the best time just hanging out at the house with our kids and enjoying Maine life. The house was great and the views were amazing. Friendship was a great location for us. We enjoyed the Market and Jamesons and would highly recommend staying here. The owners were wonderful and very helpful and easy to contact and work with.

True Maine experience: well provisioned local store and seafood restaurant short walk; working lobster boats in/out all day/night; pleasant neighbors; scenic local walk with views of sunrise/sunset. House, grounds, dock are spacious. Note to those unfamiliar with Maine -- a/c isn't a thing. Luckily window units in all bedrooms. We chose to kayak through lobster boats, but didn't swim off the dock. Beach excursions require driving, which was expected. We played whiffle ball in large front yard nightly.

We really enjoyed this house and property! Sharon was really helpful and kind. We had everything we needed, and the area of Friendship and the surrounding towns had plenty to do as well.
Our only wish was for a few more fans—it was a humid week when we stayed!

Our Friendship home was a perfect place to set up as a home base for daily exploration of some of the most scenic Maine coast. After a long day of photography, a relaxing kayak ride right of the beach or just sitting on the porch with a nice view of the water was just what we needed. Plenty of space for friends to relax and unwind indoor or outdoor. A magical experience waking up to the sounds of the lobsterman starting their day. Walking out on the dock with a cup of coffee to watch the sunrise. Hard to beat. Thanks to our hosts for coordinating a large order of lobster. Yum. Enjoyed many meals in the dining room. Perfect week in Maine. Looking forward to coming back in the future.

Have never been to Friendship before and this home was a wonderful introduction. Gil and Sharon could not have been better hosts and the property itself was extremely clean and a wonderful location. Friendship not really a ‘town’ per se, but the wonderful Wallace’s store had just about everything packed into a relatively small place. It also had a terrific wine selection! The home has so much history and character; an historic building itself which is lovingly maintained by the hosts/owners.

As always we had a great time in Maine but I must say that we really loved this house above all others. The location is in mid Maine which is great because going south and north is an easy trip. This house has the best view we have ever had while staying in Maine. We loved going down by the water and having bon-fires every night. The kayaks that Gil and Sharon provided was lots of fun. We love to eat Lobster and Gil and Sharon provided those for us at a very very reasonable price. Right down the street from the house is Jameson Lobster co.... so convenient and the food is outstanding. We would love to stay in this home again someday. Thanks Gil and Sharon for being available to us and all the information you gave us when we first arrived.

We've rented from Gil & Sharon multiple times and always love it here. Great view in a great location.... close to a lot of area attractions. Kayaking out in the ocean is relaxing and gives a whole different perspective. I'm sure we'll be renting again.
Thank you Gil & Sharon for sharing your home!

Absolutely the best Maine experience! Beautiful historic house, gorgeous view, helpful owners, lovely town, close to Rockland and Damariscotta. We enjoyed kayaking in Friendship Harbor, whiffle ball in the yard, a lobster roast with fresh lobsters provided by Gil. The house was well appointed with everything we needed. Wallace’s Store is 1/2 mile down the road. Our week on the coast of Maine was awesome! Thank you Gil and Sharon!

Owners are lovely and caring; property is beautiful; neighborhood safe and quiet.
Enjoyed the spaciousness of the home; fresh caught lobster out of this world delicious and evenings on the beach by the fire cozy and relaxing. Plenty of sights to see, islands to kayak to and just being in the home with friends and family was great. We hope to come back soon as we all loved being in Friendship!

Relaxing getaway
We had an amazing stay at the historic harbor house. With the expansive lawns of the harbor house in the quiet town of Friendship situated near to other more bustling towns, this vacation proved to be the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. We had a fantastic stay!

Delightful!
In addition to being charming and well-equipped, the house is very clean and has everything you need. The views are spectacular 24/7 and we never got tired of watching the water. We cooked in the kitchen and outside on the grill. The weather is spectacular in July. The owners/managers are extremely helpful and gave me tips on everything from day trips to where to take our recycling - they are lovely. Everyone in the family agreed that we'd be glad to stay again in the future.
Things to keep in mind: (1) if you enjoy sleeping with the windows open (which we recommend), you'll be able to see and hear the lobster boats coming and going at all hours - we loved it, but if you are looking for silence, this may not be your place. (2) The nearest grocery store is about 10 miles away - it's a beautiful drive and we just stopped off on the way home from our day trips, so it was no trouble for us.
Overall, I'd give this house more than 5 stars if it were possible - just loved it!

Perfect family vacation!
This is our second year in a row staying at this beautiful historic home for the 4th of July week. Gil and Sharon are the ideal hosts. The house is so beautiful and well maintained! The kids enjoyed playing in the spacious yard and on the dock. The lobster from them on arrival was delicious and so fun for the whole family to prepare. During our stay we visited Owl Head Lighthouse and Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse. Both were unique and beautiful. We made a day trip up to Acadia National Park which was breathtaking! Jameson’s Lobster Company is right up the road and has great food with friendly staff. And Glendarragh Lavender Farm is only 20 minutes and a beautiful spot to visit. Thank you for hosting our family again, it was another wonderful time!

Gorgeous historical home
We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home in Friendship. The location was perfect for visiting Boothbay and Bar Harbor. Sharon made wonderful recommendations for places to visit (we loved Pemaquid beach). The kids had a great time exploring at low tide and watching the boats come and go. The house has been beautifully renovated and care was made to ensure our stay was as easy as possible. Plenty of cleaning supplies, towels AND cozy blankets everywhere!

A family getaway
The house was everything we expected and more. We explored all of the areas around, the location is quite but yet not far away from more attractions of Maine (harbor tours, shops, fishing). We had the best time and would recommend this house to all. We had family from 1yr to 75 yr old. When staying make sure to have Gil deliver the yummy lobsters right at the dock. They are sweet, fresh and the best when steamed right from the sea water! No matter your wants (quite and secluded or a short trip to a faster pace) this is the house to stay! Lister boats are coming and going right from the comforts of the house dock. Gil and Sharon are a warm, inviting, and accommodating couple! Loved getting to know them and working together to make our family trip a success for our 16 year old!

Beautiful home and location!!
Enjoyed our stay, the house listing was perfect for what we needed. Owners were very helpful and informative.
We enjoyed being between Boothbay and Bar Harbor so we were able to take in so many scenes of Maine.
The trip up the mountain at Camden had to be one of our favorite recommendations from Sharon and Gil.

Harbor House was lovely
The Harbor House is a peaceful and homey place with a perfect location. We were warmly greeted by the hosts who offered ideas, suggestions and allowed texts if we had any questions or needs that they promptly responded to.
The home is comfortable and has everything you may need.
There is a spacious lawn area outside down to the dock in the bay! Sunrises are gorgeous and the sights and sounds of harbor boats and birds with a gentle breeze made it a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy. We especially appreciated the chance to order fresh lobsters delivered to the dock that we could cook up ourselves on the outdoor stove! Mmmm! Afterwards, we had a campfire by the water’s edge enjoying the full moon and night sky. You are also near many popular sights and towns to visit while staying in this little quiet town. A perfect spot, in a spacious home, with friendly, kind hosts, where you can enjoy the Maine vibe and relax!

Magical stay in Friendship
We had a wonderful stay at the Friendship property. The pictures don’t do justice on how beautiful this place is . From the kayaks , watching the lobster boats and fishing off the dock . Ending our evening with a fire on the ocean side or watching the ocean on the beautiful deck . Gil and Sharon the owners were so kind and available for any questions . Gil even delivered fresh lobsters on our dock for one of our evening meals. The house was located around other fun things to do in Maine ! You won’t regret staying here .

A great family location on the water
This wonderful house accommodated a family: grandparents, children and grand babies. We were able to bring our Freedom 40 sailboat to the mooring so we went sailing, kayaking, motor boating. It was idyllic. Sharon and Gill were incredible hosts. Totally available to help us navigate getting lobsters, extra needs at the house & mooring, interesting places to go in the area. They were just lovely.

Room for the whole family
A lovely historic home that was big enough to accommodate our family reunion of 6 adults and 4 small children. Everyone had their own space and the living and eating areas were great meeting places.
A wonderful big yard where the kids could run around that sloped out to the dock. Beautiful views everywhere of the harbor. We enjoyed a relaxing vacation of family outdoor fishing, games and activities. The kayaks were easy to handle and fun to tour around the harbor. Martin’s swimming beach was 4 miles away and we spent much time there with kids 4-9. Loved the quaintness of Friendship and it’s little store and arts shop. Only a mile to town so it made a nice walk.
Gil and Sharon are wonderful attentive hosts, helpful for every need. The most memorable event was pulling up the lobster crate from the dock, filled with live lobsters Gil had caught that day for our dinner.
A real Maine Vacation!

True Maine waterfront cottage
This property gives you the feeling of being in an old ocean front cottage. Loved to hear the lobster boats leaving the harbor in the early hours. Can’t beat the view and water access. Gil and Sharon met us at the house, gave us an overview of the area and checked in during the week to make sure we were all set.

Beautiful setting with water access. Had a great time hanging out on dock, fishing, kayaking, and relaxing by the water’s edge and fire pit in the evenings. Enjoyed seeing all the boats and beautiful scenery. Home was lovely. Vintage charm with modern updates in bathrooms and kitchen with all necessities. Owners were super helpful and friendly. Order fresh lobster from them - amazing! Wallace’s market had everything we needed. Jameson Point Lobster restaurant right up the street had delicious food and fresh blueberry pie. Other towns with more shopping and restaurants within 15-30 mins drive. Great summer vacation!

Our First experience of Maine was a great one.
Our group (3 couples) was very pleased with your home on the bay/cove. We all loved the history of the home and all the modern updates. We especially enjoyed our fresh lobster dinner. Thank you Gil and Sharon for having them floating in the water on our dock. The fire pit was also a great treat to end our day with and reminisce of our adventures of the day. one other thing that was nice was the 3-ring binder with all kinds of information about Maine. Hats off to the two other nearby businesses that we frequented. 1. Jameson Point Lobster Company- fresh lobster and fish restaurant and great homemade blueberry pie. 2. Wallace's Market- the little grocery store. We would have loved to stay longer since we didn't have enough time to enjoy the three kayaks.

A very happy new year in Friendship Harbor
What a lovely spot, even in the winter! The view was just spectacular - watching lobster boats go in and out of the harbor and seeing the sunrise. A really comfortable home for our two families. We had a great dinner, with lobsters (purchased through Sharon and Gil) cooked on the backyard grill. Lots of hikes and lighthouses to explore nearby. We even enjoyed the record collection. Wonderful trip!
