We are repeat vacationers at this lovely Orrs Island property. It’s quiet and peaceful with a beautiful large yard which makes it very private. It’s a quaint old maine home like those of my childhood but it has been updated & furnished for the comforts of a larger group. The location is perfect with many favorite haunts nearby. We love the proximity of the ocean and smell of salt air. You can’t go wrong in making this your base for a stay in the state of Maine.

Orr House is an absolute gem ! It is comfortable, spacious, and well outfitted with everything you might possibly need. The property is serene and rolls along to the water. Sunsets are gorgeous right from the backyard. We felt surrounded by nature, and enjoyed watching a turkey family, deer, dicks, and many birds.
It was a joy for us to stay in this historic home, and our hosts Mallory and her mother Joan made our week complete!

We had the perfect week at this spacious, unique house! Prime location with plenty of room for our family of four to relax, play in the yard, and outfitted with everything we needed. Great showers, comfortable beds, tons of room to spread out, and perfect cool breezes through the windows overnight and every morning. Spotlessly clean, well stocked kitchen supplies, and fans and ACs for the few times the temps felt a little too hot. We hope to come back again next year! Thank you!

The house was very clean and spacious with a well stocked kitchen and comfortable beds. The uneven floors and steep staircase do require good mobility, but doable. The setting is very quiet and it was easy to get to many sights. Nearby restaurants and galleries/artisans were a plus. The Wi-Fi was strong which was great since cell coverage was spotty. It was humid the week we were there and the ACs and fans helped out. The hydrangeas and the reading book were added bonuses. We would return!

The listing said norhing about stairs to 2nd floor which were very dangerous.
There was no access to beach and it was more than a 1 minute walk.
2nd floor was very hot.

The property was exactly as described and more. It had lots of spices, condiments, coffee & filters (drip coffeemaker). The large living groom had plenty of sitting areas. It also had a cute reading nook with tons of books and another TV. Be sure to walk down the back at sunset!

We really enjoyed this property. It had all of the charm and flavor of the area that we were hoping for. It is an upgraded home from the 1800s, so it's not the cookie cutter box that so many VRBOs are. We spent time in the huge back yard, where we saw a wild turkey and a deer come meandering by. Then we took a long walk on the property, down by the bay. It was beautiful. Being an older two story home with some unevenness in the floors, if someone has serios mobility issues, it might not be a perfect fit, but if you want an authentic New England coastal house in a beautiful area, this is great. We would stay again for sure.

This was a lovely place to stay. I felt right at home in the old house (we live in a 1911 bungalow in Tulsa, so I'm familiar with old house quirks). Being able to walk down to the water was a lovely surprise as well.

Impessive antique farmhouse. All needs met plus more.

Beautiful and charming vintage cottage where the grounds roll down to the water. Abundant charm, super clean, close to town, restaurants and trails. We couldn’t ask for anything better. Loved everything.

Stayed for a few days with friends. Mal was easy to work with and was so great to our group. House was perfect for our needs...a place to stay and hang out. We were able cook meals and get around.

The house was a nice place to stay at. Everything was clean when we arrived. We didn't experience any issues during our stay. They had provided everything that you needed for your stay.
They have a nice walkway down to the water.
I would recommend to others and would stay there again the next time we visit.

Our family really enjoyed our stay here—so nice to see the Maine coast on the drive in, and then experience this quaint home. We were very close to outdoor activities, good restaurants, and the Bailey Island general store, which had a nice cafe within. The house had all the amenities we needed, and the property was wonderful, too, with a great backyard. Excellent communication with our host. House is on the main island road, but we had no issues with ingress/egress from the driveway, and it was not noisy. We were there in early June and still needed to use the furnace a bit. The upstairs landing could pose a problem for some; exercising caution will help. I wish we’d stayed an extra night or two.

We had a great stay in Harpswell. The home is very clean and a nice, unique departure from cookie-cutter condos. Plenty of space to spread out.

We enjoyed our stay at this property. The host is very nice and very responsive. The house is spacious and rustic with a big beautiful piece of property. Having rented in the area for many years, the size factor is an unusual plus for a rental property. The place is thoughtfully supplied and will have everything you need. It is well located in terms of proximity to beaches, vistas and shopping. One should be aware that rusticity is an accurate descriptor both in terms of charm and the practical realities of a very old house that needs work. The house seems to have foundation issues which not only makes the floor uneven in spots (not a big deal) but also adds a bit of a damp feeling which is not a huge problem but may bother some. Overall, I recommend this property.

We loved this cottage. The backyard space and the sunset views from there were amazing! The location is great and we were able to explore Harpswell without feeling rushed. Mallory had great suggestions for things to do. It was a great stay!

The house is certainly quirky! For those with mobility issues, the floors can be a challenge and there are some steps to navigate, but overall, the house was extremely clean and comfortable for our family, ages 86-17. Really appreciated the living room and bedroom air cons, upgraded tv and extra pillows and towels. Mal is a great host, super quick to respond and very helpful.
We loved the Orr’s Island Library book sale, sunsets at Land’s End, and ice cream at Island’s.

Older house but very quaint, clean, comfortable, lots of space, well equipped, large lot with good space. House location is pretty secluded from most everything. You need to drive a ways to get to anything in the area. There are a few local restaurants in the vicinity that were very good. All in all you get a lot for the money.

A thoughtfully laid out and charmingly decorated home-lots of seating in living room for extended family visits. Lovely large yard with table & lots of chairs for dining outdoors or just sitting & taking it all in. Excellent notes on specifics of the property to help during your stay and great suggestions on what to do/what to see. Thank you, Mallory-our family will be back!

We had a very relaxing stay at this quaint cottage. All of our needs were met. It was very beautifully furnished! The only thing that was concerning is the strong mildew smell that took a few days to calm down. Also anyone with mobility issues may find it hard to get in and out of entrance door. The house being older and settled has uneven flooring. The stairs going to cute second floor is also not for anyone that has mobility issues and the tub downstairs is deep and no handrail so difficult to get in and out of. On the island some phone carriers do not have reception and you may get wifi at the house but no internet. Other than that we enjoyed having the deer come up to see us in the morning and evening and nice to enjoy what Maine has to offer!

We really enjoyed staying at "quaint antique" home. It was very spacious, well decorated with a modern and vintage mix, and comfortable. A good location on Orr's Island and about two minutes by car from Bailey Island. It fit the bill as a home away from home.

We felt that warmness a being in a home rather than a manufactured feeling of a hotel !
The dinning room was just the right size for all of us to enjoy our meals together!
Much laugher and fond memories from our visit at the Orr House Thank you

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Orr's House.
The home is spacious, comfortable and the property is beautiful. Our grandchildren loved the great outdoors and walks to the shore. Lovely gardens & beautiful wildflowers in the field and gorgeous views! Loads of wildlife, deer, turkeys, ground hogs and many birds.

We enjoyed staying at this beautiful, historical home and enjoyed easy access to many different attractions, shopping and restaurants. The space was very comfortable and sweet. The floors are uneven but I was surprised how quickly I adjusted to that. The amenities were great and the hosts felt very available to us.

House was just as we expected. Very comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. Very convenient home base to tour Maine. Can’t say enough about the great restaurants, farmers markets and of course the fall scenery.

We visited Maine for my daughter’s wedding on September 17th and our stay at 1610 Harpswell Island, Orr’s Island, Maine and the cottage was amazing and it made our stay here so great! We loved the quaintness of the cottage and the location was perfect!
We will definitely recommend this to our other friends and family!
Mallory Richter was a pleasure to work with and she was so incredibly helpful and accommodating before and during our stay!!
Thanks so much for your hospitality,

This house was perfect for our girls trip to Maine. We were able to have our own rooms and bathrooms. Enjoyed watching tv in the evening. The host Mal was very easy to communicate with and very attentive if we had any needs. We would definitely stay here again when in this area.

It was a bit hard to see the house number. It would be helpfull if there was a number at the end of the drive.
We had to be a careful of the floors in the house since it was an old house and they were not level. The side entrance was a bit inconvient as well. But, other than those few inconveniences it was cozy and had a lot of character. We enjoyed our stay!!

Our family really enjoyed our time on Orr's Island. The house is comfortable and spacious to house much more than just the 5 of us. The home is well appointed with everything you would need to include plenty of linens, kitchen items, cleaning supplies. The only drawback of the home is that it is located on the busy main roadway for the Island and there are no actual sidewalks, so walking is cautionary but doable. The bay is also a very good distance from the home, but also means that the property has a very large amount of land to walk behind it to get to the water. All in all, the home worked out great for us due to location, comfort and it was also special due to it's age and history.

Such a well-stocked, quaint and spacious home within twenty minute drives of everything in the Harpswell area (less than an hour to Portland, Boothbay Harbor or several state parks). Take your binoculars to view wildlife that frequent the property! We visited four lobster ponds from Georgetown to Wiscasset to Harpswell, and, hands down , Erica’s in Harpswell is the best!
While we had the utmost privacy on the second floor, I would not recommend this home for young families with preschoolers who wake at night for the bathroom or looking for mommy or for older folks with balance issues due to steep stairs to the upstairs bedrooms and an odd split landing at the top. The shower stall in the second floor bathroom is also small, even for my average build husband.
We loved the laid-back Orr’s and Bailey’s Islands; Fishnet Cafe, Salt Cod Cafe and the General Store will meet your immediate needs and a short trip to Brunswick will take care of the rest! Browse through the guest book Mallory has available for recommendations other guests have noted (there’s just too many to mention here!).
There’s surely a lot of history in this home, if only the walls could talk! Thank you, Mallory, for sharing your little piece of Maine with us.
