Paul and Wanda are excellent hosts! My parents and I had a great time and would definitely stay in this location again! It was so nice to have a quiet, cozy, home to come back to after touring the tourist attractions.
The home has everything you might need when traveling and then some. The hosts are very thoughtful!
I will be telling my students back in Kansas all about my trip when school starts back up. This was a relaxing way to end summer!

We stayed at Wanda and Paul’s condo for 4 nights and would have loved to stay longer! The condo was extremely comfortable and was the cleanest I have ever booked. We received a warm welcome from Wanda when we arrived and she gave us the details and even brought a complimentary bottle of wine for the adults and sparkling grape juice for our son. It was very hot when we stayed and she had the air conditioner all set and fans available for extra comfort.
The condo was in a gated community with spaced out homes and condos situated around a beautiful lake.it was so peaceful, and still very close to area attractions such as Mount Rushmore, Wind Cave, Newel Cave, Crazy Horse and much more.Hill City was an easy 15 minute drive.
The condo had absolutely everything we needed and more. The beds were comfortable and the washer/dryer was a life saver! There were lots of games (inside and outside) and even our own paddle boat to use with life jackets of all sizes. The water was a little chilly but our son still managed to get in some swimming.
The back deck overlooked the lake and has a large gas grill and fire pit along with table and chairs for outdoor dining. I had coffee on it every morning enjoying the peace and beauty of the lake.
Perhaps the most special was the fishing pole and worms that Wanda and Paul left for us to use because they knew how badly our son wanted to fish.
If you are coming to the Black Hills area you should absolutely consider this location.

We had a wonderful experience with this rental! It is about 15 minutes from the downtown of Hill City and very remote, but we enjoyed the privacy and serenity! Our kids loved the pond - fishing and paddle boating. We loved the back patio and view. Wanda and Paul were awesome hosts (they live in the condo right next store to this rental). We were welcomed to the very homey rental with a welcome message for our family on the chalk board. Also Paul brought over a bottle of wine and sparkling wine for our kids. All of the little touches were so nice, such as candy filled in the dish, all soaps/shampoos, laundry/dishwasher soap, garbage bags, etc. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a private, beautiful setting!

The place was amazing and host couple did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. The only thing that site could communicate more clearly is that 2nd bedroom is not really a room but space at top of stairs. Otherwise, the condo was clean and the setting was absolutely beautiful. I will return if I ever plan another trip to Black Hills area.

This property is lovely. It’s off the beaten path and away from town. For us that are used to country living, it was perfect. The kids loved the pond. All the games that are provided were an excellent way to spend time as a family. Thank you for a wonderful week!

My family and I had a fabulous stay! Wanda and Paul were very welcoming and the house was clean and cozy. Our favorite feature was the absolutely stunning lake and view. There was so much space for my kids to play and explore. They especially loved the lake and seeing so much wildlife! We can't wait to go back.

This property was just what my family needed. It’s tucked away in a private area and we were able to fish each evening. The space was clean and had everything we needed plus some extras like games and the fixings for smores. We were very happy!

We had an epic vacation with our family of four (two kids 8 & 9). This home was the perfect home base, centrally located and still off-the-beaten-path. They were great hosts and very responsive. The house was fully stocked and we cooked some great meals in their kitchen and on the grill. The kids loved playing by the lake. The scenery was beautiful.
The one thing that we were disappointed by when we first arrived is that it wasn’t as secluded as the pictures made it seem. The owners live in an attached rental unit and there are a number of other similar town homes in the culdesac. This ended up being a plus for us, because our kids had a ton of fun fishing with other kids staying in a different rental unit. And the hosts were not intrusive at all. It ended up feeling pretty private. But it’s something worth noting just in case you are looking for something totally private. Even with our surprise, we were happy we stayed there because it really was the perfect home base.

If you want to get away from it all this is the place. It is a little bit of a drive from Hill City but well worth it for the view along with the peace and quite. There were geese every morning and even some deer across the little lake in the evening. Although we did not get to spend as much time here as we had wished we are considering this place for our next trip to the hills. Wanda was very kind and our place was clean and comfortable!

Our family of five, including two teenagers and one elementary-age child, found the condo cozy, well stocked, and clean. Everyone enjoyed the lake, fishing, paddle boating, and geese watching. The location near Hill City provided easy access to Black Hills’ top attractions. Wanda and Paul were wonderful hosts, accommodating yet respectful of guests’ privacy.

We had a wonderful stay. The condo is amazing the property very relaxing. Our 2 grandsons had a blast fishing and even took a cold dip in the lake. Everything in the Blackhills is close for sightseeing. We would recommend this property.

The beautiful sunrises and view from our back deck were amazing! We had a fun time riding the trails and doing a little sight seeing. Our hosts were very kind the house was cozy and clean. We would definitely come back.

Our hosts were wonderful people. We were located close to Rapid City, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Custer State Park. The setting was very tranquil, hills were beautiful. After a long day of seeing the sights , it was nice to get back and unwind. Definitely a hidden gem with this property. Hopefully its available when we return in the future

From the minute we arrived we knew the extra driving to get to this beautiful lake-side property would be worth it. Wanda greeted us warmly and gave us a little tour and explained things we might like to know.
The kitchen was thoughtfully stocked, the sheets were silky, and the outdoor living space was heaven. We grilled and ate outside almost every night.
My kids loved paddle boating and fishing. They also liked hanging out on the deck outside playing games and giggling our mornings and evenings away.
We weren't at the property much in the middle of the day as we were sight-seeing. If that's what your trip includes, I would say the extra driving amounted to about half an hour total each day, as the property is located outside of Hill City in the opposite direction of most of our activities. But man...was it a beautiful place to come "home" to each day.

Wanda & Paul are wonderful hosts. The condo itself was very clean, organized and had all the basic essentials. The location is "off the beaten path" -- it is beautiful, peaceful and the perfect spot to land after a busy day of sightseeing. We enjoyed fishing the private lake, paddleboat rides and s’mores around the fire pit. The kids had so much fun reeling in (and releasing) the trout. Our family loved watching the deer play in and around the lake as well as spotting the osprey and herons. Would, without a doubt, stay again.

This place is truly a hidden gem! The first trip to the property left us wondering if the extra travel was worth it, as it's another 20+ mins up the hill from Hill City. When we arrived and saw the property, with the most peaceful view and little mountain lake you've ever seen, all concerns evaporated into thin air.
The owners instantly felt like family, and are very available for anything you might need.
Our kids thoroughly enjoyed the private access to the lake - fishing, paddle boats, swimming - and rolling down the hills : )
We even witnessed an osprey diving for a fish! That's how peaceful and relaxing of an environment this place is.
Cell service is limited, but that was a bonus for us. They do offer free wifi connection.
This place made our SoDak summer trip into one of those incredible summer adventures our kids will never forget.

This was our first VRBO experience. Wanda and Paul are great hosts. All of the positive reviews are accurate. We enjoyed fishing along the dam. We caught some nice fish using Panther Martin spinners. We saw deer, turkey, blue herons and ospreys fishing.
This is a great base to enjoy Jewel Cave, Mt. Rushmore and all that Custer State Park has to offer.
We highly recommend this property!! I wish we could have stayed longer.

Perfect in every way! The hosts Paul and Wanda are wonderful people that have left no detail unturned. Our family of 5 enjoyed a fun week of paddle boating on the lake and and also utilizing the UTV trails that are near the entrance of the home. The home was perfect and had all the amenities we needed and more. Close to all the major attractions but also secluded to simply get away. A great place to stay!

This was the first vacation with our best friends WITHOUT children! The condo and location was so much more than advertised! Wanda had every little detail covered and more! So peaceful and breathtaking! The guys were like kids in a candy store with the outstanding fish they caught! It was such a wonderful place to reconnect as spouses and friends! We saw wildlife watering at the lake over morning coffee and wine time in the evening! This is the best stocked vacation home we have ever stayed. Cooked every dinner here. Grilling was fun! We own timeshare all over the world and us VRBO for places we can't use our timeshare! Best furnished vacation home ever.
Our hosts Wanda and Paul were wonderful! So many great parks within easy driving distance. Make sure you do Custer State Park and Crazy Horse.

Beautiful setting. The property was a bit off the beaten path but it was very nice. Each morning we watch the sunrise over the hill and the lake. Most mornings we saw deer, elk or other animals. One morning I walked out the front door and there was literally a deer right outside the door. If you’re Verizon customer you will have no service unless you use Wi-Fi. Overall great experience.

The place was beautifully decorated, & super clean.
The house had everything we needed.
Considering the area had a terrible hail storm, with baseball size hail, the week before. The owners went out & bought items that were destroyed by the storm just so our visit was comfortable.
Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to visit this beautiful area of South Dakota.

We loved this place and our stay here! It is even more cute and comfortable than the pictures can convey. It has been so thoughtfully appointed and decorated, is in excellent condition and is spotlessly clean. The deck and view are just two of the highlights. We enjoyed meals, games and just lounging and relaxing here, as well as peaceful nights' sleep. It was a wonderful place to return to after long hikes, paddles and day trips to sights in the Black Hills. Wanda and Paul are amazing hosts and made us feel at home in this little paradise.

Our family (5 total) had a great stay at this beautiful property. Everything we needed was on site, even had condiments in the fridge. So lovely to watch deer every morning from the outside deck. Located about 15 min outside of Hill City, so remote enough to feel like you are out of the touristy area. Comfortable beds too. Would definitely recommend!

This vacation was a family event... We all rode our motorcycles (4)...Paul & Wanda are amazing!!!! They made us feel right at home!!!
