The Nantahala River House was just what our family was looking for. It has a beautiful view of the river; cozy and comfortable accommodations; and a convenient location.

If you’re looking for a place “on the river” you won’t get closer than here. Breathtaking views and the peaceful surroundings make this a fantastic spot to unwind, and unplug. Our children 7,8, 9, spent the trip catching fireflies and playing in the river. There was no begging for a tablet, TV, or video game. The only negative to our visit was having to head home. Can’t wait to come back.

Up on arrival the place just look like a group of abandon buildings. (because all but this house are) The inside was not bad just not well kept. The property though was unusable. Down trees, brush and over growth was ridiculous. The deck was to the point of being dangerous to be on. The ice cream shop and barbecue restaurant that were on the property and next door were shutdown by the health department last May and were still not open.
Overall it just gave you the movie Deliverance feeling. We even got to see some guys getting high behind the ice cream shop one night. We really need to do more research on the rentals before we ever do this again.

This property is directly on the Nantahalla River with room to play at the rivers edge. their are very few homes on the river with this type of access. it is a real gem. Our host, Nolan, was very helpful. We will stay here again.

We came for my daughter to go to kayak camp at NOC and this was a great place to spend the week. Host was attentive and on top of anything we could have needed.

The perfect base camp to do so many wonderful things, or the perfect place to just chill and enjoy the beautiful Nantahala River. We had members of our party do both and everyone was happy.
River House is comfortable and well stocked with everything you need. For a long weekend we packed in a lot. We booked a guided trout fishing expedition and rafting trip through Endless River Adventures. They were excellent! We hiked, fished, went horseback riding, took a scenic ride to Highlands and saw some beautiful waterfalls along the way. Watching the rafters and fishermen drift by was awesome entertainment! The ice cream shop and BBQ places on the property were a plus! We ate at Boots in Sylva for dinner one night which was great. Had tasty breakfast and lunch one day at River's End at the NOC. It was a wonderful long weekend and everyone in our party is already talking about going back! Thank you to our host Nolan who was very easy to communicate with and helpful with recommendations.

This was the best cabin we have stayed in when visiting North Carolina. The balcony hangs right over the Nantahala River. Steps away is an ice cream shop and BBQ shack. We fished the river, went rafting, hiking, had camp fires, and the kids played along river banks, all without driving far. The cabin is clean and has all that you need. Waking up to the sound of the river flowing by was great! We will be back again for sure.

We really enjoyed being on the river. We cooked our favorite dishes & found everything we needed in the house. My favorite part was waking up & being able to watch the river from our bed. I wish we could’ve stayed longer.

The property was strategic to all the wonderful attractions, food, and hiking/watersports in the Nantahala, Bryson City and Cherokee, and Smokies National Park area. The cabin was clean and well appointed, private (in mid-Oct) and very relaxing. The glass wall and deck overlooking the river really made our stay perfect. We had the peak fall leaves in full view every morning and quiet murmuring of the river at night. It was all we had hoped!

They were everything they advertised. My fault for not looking closer at the map. We were there for the first cold snap so unable to enjoy the river proximity. Beautiful view from the windows. Must be awesome in season.

Riverhouse Vacation Stay
Loved the cabin and the location. Had a great time visiting Bryson City and The Strawberry 🍓 Festival at Darnell Farms. Shopped at the library, visited the Dam and at Pizza. Loved the seclusion of the cabin and the peacefulness of the area. Can't wait to visit again. The Smith's....

Mountain Escape
My family and I had a wonderful time celebrating my daughter's birthday and Thanksgiving in this darling cabin! The owners have thought about everything you might need, and were very communicative. One note - if you have T-Mobile, you won't have any signal, but I kind of enjoyed being offline for a week!

On the river!
Great stay for everyone from my 2 year old Grandson to 85 year old Dad. Great location on Nantahala River and easy access to Bryson City, Smokies, lakes, etc. Really good floor plan for a family crew. The surrounding properties a run-down a bit and some kitchen ware (pans, pots) could be replaced, but a very good stay!

On The River House
This was a good place for us to stay with our brother and geriatric(16 YO) dog. The home is well-appointed-really could not think of anything more that could have been provided.
The area is located in a mountain, rustic fishing, rafting village that has the potential of being splendid if given the TLC treatment.
Property owner didn't leave anything to chance-great communication and care that we had a wonderful stay!
Thank you for allowing us to stay and we encourage others who like mountains, river, fishing, and a property manager who is thoughtful and caring to give it a try.

Awesome 60th Birthday Getaway
It was a fun surprise 60th birthday getaway for my husband...Some of his adult kids got to join us for a little while and we had a great time cooking together and watching the kayaker's and rafters go by...It was a memorable time for all us...The River House was just as it is depicted. Nolan was a conscientious host and we hope to comeback for another visit.in the near future....

Awesome place on the river
This was an awesome place. It is as shown. The only thing I didn’t love was the surrounding neighborhood and that could today be because we went in off season. There just wasn’t a good place to walk our dog. Other than that, I tank this place 10 stars. It is very clean. I loved opening the windows and hearing the river. It was fun sitting outside and watching people go down the river. It was close to restaurants and a few shops. Not too far from Cherokee and other small towns. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone looking for a mountain twin getaway.

Wow what an experience!
Words could never do justice to how amazing this property is. The views, the atmosphere, the hosts, the location - all perfect! Everything we could ever need was already provided for us. Information on area attractions and all different interests were right at our fingertips. The kitchen is stocked better than my own at home. Tons of movies, music, games and books were there for our down time. Super comfy beds and furnishings made for the perfect relaxing getaway. Nolan and Sudi were so accommodating! I felt at home instantly.

The house on the river was so relaxing. We had coffee on the deck every morning. The house had everything we needed to cook at home. The kitchen, while small, is well equipped with just about anything we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we’re disappointed that we had to leave earlier than planned. Sadly, our daughter needed the internet to finish some schoolwork. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

Nature at its finest
If you love the great outdoors then this river house is the place for you. Beautiful area and it’s completely off the grid. Located deep in the Nantahala gorge. Everything about the home was lovely.

From the moment we booked this place we had excellent communication with the host. Nolan was great at making sure we understood the special details of this unique place (on pillars, no internet/cable, possibly spotty phone reception etc... ). I appreciated the immediate communication and assistance with questions that we had. We arrived at dusk the first evening. It was easy to find with our GPS, but we also had the print out provided. The outside looked just like the picture. The inside did too... but honestly, was better than I expected. It was so cozy. It felt very sturdy :) and the view was spectacular!I was nervous knowing there would be rafters going by all day. I really wanted a secluded place to ourselves. I must admit that even I enjoyed going out in the afternoons that we stayed home and waving at the friendly rafters!! The water levels rose around 11 am and went down close to 6 pm each day? So we had all morning and all evening pretty much to ourselves and the afternoons, although filled with rafters, were very enjoyable and still peaceful. Most afternoons we were out venturing around ourselves! My husband and kids enjoyed trying their hand at fly fishing right next to our house. This property really was perfect for us!! We love to camp, we have stayed in very remote places in the US and in other countries and we were prepared for remote... we received remote, but were pleasantly surprised by the feeling of luxury at the same time. It was just what we were looking for. Nolan was very hospitable and responsive. We couldn't have asked for a better stay! We will definitely be back!P.S. We enjoyed tubing at Deep Creek (unique experience) and if you are gluten free, Bryson City has it going on!! Check out Mountain Perks and High Test Deli.. two of our favorites! Cardinal Coffee was also a delight on the way to town. And Rivers Edge in NOC has amazing Buffalo Cauliflower. :D

Property is exactly as described. The view from the deck is wonderful and the river is busy with kayaks and rafts during the day, but by 6 pm it’s all yours. We enjoyed the fire pit and the hiking and rafting all around.

Everything was as we expected. Even though the Cabin looks old from outside, it has been well maintained. We loved the location of the cabin and the surrounding. We will rent this property some time in the future for sure.
