À propos de cette location de vacances
Great Location and Fun For Everyone!

Enjoyed our stay. The location and cottage is as advertised. 5 min paddle to Port carling and right across from Hanna beach. Great big dock and while it’s quite busy travel way for boats it was still easy enough to find times to swim.

Our recent week-long stay at River Cottage left much to be desired. Despite the property’s potential and scenic location, its placement on a particularly busy section of the lake detracted from the tranquility we had anticipated.
The issues we encountered were numerous and significant:
1. Cleanliness: The cottage was not properly cleaned prior to our arrival; we found dirty dishes left in the oven, and all windowsills were full of bugs and spiderwebs.
2. Electrical Issues: The electrical outlets in the bedroom and on the exterior of the cottage were not functional.
3. Odor and Vermin Problem: A pervasive and unpleasant smell permeated the cottage, which was later identified as coming from a dead rodent in the walls. The property owner acknowledged that vermin frequently enter the walls and die. Although a maintenance person provided us with four air fresheners, this was insufficient to address the underlying problem. We also observed mice entering and exiting the building throughout the week, which was concerning and unpleasant.
4. Laundry machine broke. We fixed it.
5. Structurally this building is falling apart inside and out.
OVERALL misleading property HOW it has over 4 Stars is seriously questionable.

Amy communicated with us about the property when we had any questions. We enjoyed our time on the large dock, around the fire pit, and around the kitchen table. So close to Port Carling and other attractions. Thank you Amy.

Our stay at the property was fantastic. Amy was very helpful in communicating with us about what to expect and remained responsive throughout. The property gave the kids plenty to keep busy with and the huge dock space gave everyone a great place to swim, sunbathe, fish and just have fun.
Thank you for sharing your place with the world - a wonderful place to relax!

Great location with lots to do. Unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side so we didn't get to swim in the lake however we got some fishing in and some nibbles. The cottage has everything you need, just bring some linens and food. Lots of great small businesses in town as well.

The property was beautiful, great view of lake with privacy. The hot tub was a great addition, everything you could need was supplied. Definitely will be booking for a longer stay next summer. Thank you very much.

Amy's location with the property jutting out on the lake was by far the best of all the cottages there. You really could enjoy the lake and the dock being so far out on the lake was a really cool experience. The views were spectacular, and there were even some leaves turning adding to the colour. The hot tub given the temperatures were a bit on the cool side was put to good use. Our family was very comfortable there and being so close to Port Carling was so convenient.

Our family had a very nice stay at this property. It has everything you need. The location is great, it is right across the beach, it has an amazing dock where you can sit and watch boats go by and it’s very quite and peaceful.
We had a small boat that fit perfect on the dock, we were able to take it into Port Carling on a 5 minute ride to go shopping and to restaurants. It was very convenient.
It has plenty of chairs to sit on the dock, as well as around the campfire.
We hope to return.

Jennifer was very responsive to messages. I lost the email with the instructions and she quickly resent when we were on the way. No problems at all with the place. A great, relaxing getaway. I love that it isn't so far from Toronto.

Great week at the cottage. Terrific dock to relax on and watch the river activity.
Exactly as described. Pleasant experience.

Great Lake access and property
The cottage has a run down exterior and lovely up to date interior. It was perfect for our get away. Kitchen is bigger than it looks in the pictures and yard was very ample. Lots of parking and bed options if you have bigger group and located close to lots of interesting attractions.

Perfect Summer Getaway
This rental property was the perfect summer getaway for a group of adults. The kitchen has everything you need. The cottage itself is everything we were looking for. Nothing fancy, but was everything we needed. Large bathroom, tight squeeze in the room with the queen bed. But the room with the twin beds give space for turning the twin into a queen. Large fridge/freezer. Three doors lead to the outside. All windows work with ease.
Outside the cottage there is huge amounts of space for any lawn games. Outside you have a fire pit, BBQ, very large dock with the opportunity to jump off and swim and a fantastic hot tub. The cottage is located about 5 mins from the hub of Port Carling where there is a Foodland and LCBO. As well as a great taco restaurant on the water.
The host was great and responds quickly to any questions.
All who attended agreed it would be a great place to return to. Thanks for your hospitality.

Perfect for a 3 night summer getaway
We were lucky enough to discover this wonderful property when we were looking for a last-minute 3 day “getaway”. It was perfect for my girlfriend and I to relax in. Things we loved included: swimming off the dock, “boat watching” from the dock, a midnight soak in the hot tub, and watching the amazing sunset from the dock. As the town of Port Carling was easily accessible as well, we spent an afternoon that rain was forecasted for wandering through the shops (and found some great deals on summer clothing). Thanks again for your hopitality!

The cottage was not too big, but it was fully renovated and very clean. The cottage view was awesome.
The owner was very nice and cooperative and responded to all communication very quickly.
We would definitely love to go to this place in future again.

A cozy cottage in a great location
If you want to experience relaxed cottage life on a river, this is the place to come! The cottage has been totally renovated inside with modern and traditional cottage decor that is comfortable for adults, kids and pets. Outside, the large, level yard with freestanding fire pit is very private with beautiful rows of cedars and a generous grassy area extending along the shoreline for kids, or dogs, to play in. Having kayaks for an evening paddle along the river was fantastic. We also enjoyed watching the antique and pleasure boats go by and the Wenonah and the Peerless cruise boats. This is an excellent cottage and Amy, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. We plan to come back next summer.

Will book here again!
Booked this cottage with a few friends. We all loved it. Great spot by the water. Perfect girlfriends weekend getaway. The kitchen had everything we needed. Can't wait to come back (hopefully when it's a little warmer so we can enjoy swimming in the lake). Easy to find and nice and clean. Loved it.

Ideal location for discovering all that Muskoka has to offer, cottage needs some upgrades
We visited during Canada Day, two parents and two teenage sons.
If you have your own boat, there is public access right across the river and the cottage has plenty of dock space. We don't have a boat, so we made extenstive use of the the kayaks and paddle boat at the cottage, and swam and fished in the river. Our teenage sons loved watching boats go by from the hot tub, making smores in the fire pit, and playing games in the yard.
Nearby, we enjoyed the water skiing show in Bala, hiking Huckleberry Trail, fireworks over Lake Rosseau, ride on the Peerless II to Lake Muskoka, Port Carling Farmers Market, ice cream at Moosekoka in Port Carling, and the Muskoka Lakes museum.
The kitchen was well-stocked and the BBQ was in great condition. There are plenty of stores to get food and drink nearby, so we were able to prepare almost all of our meals at home.
The cottage itself needs updating on the exterior. There grass was freshly cut, but there are a lot of trees and tall plants that made it difficult to have a clear view of the river from the yard. Once out on the dock the view was great. There were tons of seagulls on the deck and they made a huge mess. A hose would be helpful to help keep it clean.
Inside the cottage, there are several small rooms but the available space and furniture wasn't condusive to hanging out as a group of 4. The beds were extremely hard - all of us had difficulty sleeping. Also, there weren't any dressers or cupboards for storing clothing and supplies, and the master room is so small that we had to keep our bags in the bathroom. With a few small changes (new mattresses, added storage, maybe opening up two sitting rooms into one large sitting room) this cottage would be perfect.
Muskoka Lakes area is breathtakingly beautiful and there are tons of things to do, so overall we enjoyed our vacation. This cottage is located in the heart of it all.

Awesome cottage
Location awesome. Cottage awesome.
Stayed at this place with 6 gents. Had an unreal time. Place is fully loaded with everything. Has everything you need.
Only negative was some of the beds are small for bigger dudes and a bit hard.
Will for sure be renting again

Small but cozy cottage close to Port Carling
This appears to be a new listing, given the fact that everything in the cottage seemed to be new or recently renovated. The building itself brings one back to an earlier era, though, when cottages weren't meant to lure people inside all the time. The cottage is small and cozy: although it can sleep a maximum of six people, a couple would find it cozy and four people would find they can just get around inside without bumping into each other. The main attraction of this property, in my opinion, is the central location. It's probably best for small groups (up to four adults or a family of up to six) who plan to spend much of their time during the day outside, either sitting on the (large) dock watching the boats go by (as it's on the narrows approaching Port Carling, you'll see every type of boat going past) or taking day trips into Port Carling (20 minutes by kayak or 10 by car) or other sights in the Muskoka/Parry Sound area. If you do plan to spend the time inside, the decor is light and clean and everything we needed was easy to find and, when we did have questions, the owners returned our email messages promptly. Overall, for us, it was a pleasant weekend of relaxing interspersed with sightseeing day trips and short kayaking excursions.
