We didn’t actually end up staying at the property. We were there for a total of 5 minutes and decided to find a hotel instead. The house does not look like the photos online. The yard was unkept and the nearby homes were as well. The primary issue was the very strong smell in the house (stale and old). The owner refused to refund our money. This was our first bad vrbo experience.

A lovely old home and was nice to spend the night at. Loved learning the history of the home as well. We went to Bryans on 290 for dinner and it was in walking distance from this home.

It was very nice. Older home but did not know about the historical background until after arrival and it was even more charming.

The home itself is definitely historic, however we enjoyed all of the memorabilia and character. Homes location is great and easy to get to other places, check in process was easy. The beds are comfortable.

The house was as described and accommodating. Lots of history and info on LBJ and his brother. Front bedroom bed was very comfortable. Kitchen had plenty of what we need to make meals when we didn’t eat out. Owner made checking and checked out easy.

3 girls on a wine weekend! Our driver from Open Range Tours picked us up! It was wonderful. Then we walked to downtown to get some dinner. So many things within walking distance.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The location is in a great location 3 blocks from the Court House in Johnson City. It was very convenient for our plans to get out and explore the winerys around Johnson City and a short walk to the restaurants in downtown. The road noise at night is not too bad. Them only time I noticed noise from 290 is when a 18 wheeler would go by, but it wasn't too bad. We had planty of room for us (2 adults & 1 child). The property manager, Wilma, was very responsive and great to deal with. There are some things that kept us from giving a higher rating. With an older home you need to expect that it needs a little more TLC. The other issue we had was that the listing states in the description that it has a King bed and double bed. Actually has a queen bed and a double bed.

We loved our stay in this beautifully appointed and cozy home. 3-block walk to town to enjoy shopping, dining and Christmas lights. We’re hoping to return with our kids next year.

Property seemed uncared for and showed no pride of ownership: carpets stained and dirty, house had an unpleasant odor, bathtub was chiipped and the surround moldy, a mere drizzle of water out of the lavatory, and more.

House was just what I needed and very comfortable. I would rent it again if necessary. Easy to communicate with owner.

Charming Stay!
Charming little house perfect for a weekend in the hill country. Close to everything in Johnson City and a short drive to all the wineries in Hye and Fredericksburg.

The inside was clean but the porch and steps were filthy. We could not sit outside. The pots and pans were unusable. The mattress in the master bedroom was very uncomfortable. The place was quaint and quiet. However we would not book the place again. Consuelo R. Hughes

Johnson City
We certainly enjoyed our stay in Johnson City in this stone house. Wonderful display of LBJ. Host was very attentive and helped us when we needed it. We did have a small issue with toilet flushing, but let Wilma know and I’m sure she will take care of it promptly.

Vintage & cozy
Cute little old house perfectly located in JC near town square, shops, and great restaurants…. Only 30 minutesish to Fredericksburg and Dripping Springs. Communication great! It’s an old house, but has historical charm and perfect for some game time after exploring and a good night of rest. Thank you for a nice stay!

Step Back in History
This is a fantastic cottage if you want to get a sense of history. It's a few minutes walk to the LBJ boyhood home and the 1870's ranch where his grandparents settled. The cottage itself is 1936 and is decorated to honor that time period. Johnson City is rare in that it doesn't seem like it has changed too, too much over the years. I felt a few times like I had stepped back in time. Johnson City is also such a central location. I visited Blanco, Fredericksburg, the William Chris winery in Hye, the LBJ ranch in Stonewall, and Pedernales Falls State Park, all within thirty minutes. The cottage is clean and comfortable and welcoming as is the town. The square has a few awesome restaurants and shops and friendly owners and service people.

Cottage Stay
We enjoyed our stay at this cozy cottage. My only complaint is that it says “there is a luxurious king size bed in the master bedroom” but there is a queen size bed, not king.

Great location for Johnson City visit, with a nice touch of history.
This was a convenient and easy rental. Location was easy to find and easy to park and access. It was perfect for our quick stay-over to see the big holiday light display.

Great place to stay in Johnson City
I surprised my wife with a weekend in Johnson City, and when we got there I found out that I happened to book her favorite place to stay! This is a historic, well-maintained, comfy spot to stay, an easy walk from the city center with all of its restaurants, art, and more.

First: there is no wifi, please be sure you don't need it.There are no dishwasher, or laundry appliances. However, for a small house, there was lots of comfortable seating and very nice beds. The stove and fridge worked great. Plenty of linens and towels were provided for our 4 night stay.

This property met our needs. The Vrbo contact was accommodating and graciously met our need to leave late on Sunday. :)

Quaint Cottage
Quaint cottage. Good location in walking distance to the sites of Johnson City.
To be clear for visitors, this cottage is “lightly” updated - no WiFi, no dishwasher, no ice maker, unupdated bathroom. All ok if you come in with those expectations. Don’t expect shiny and new.

Charming!
The house is charming, the location is charming, and that back porch/sunroom: completely charming! We enjoyed our stay at the Historic Hill Country Cottage, learned much about the Johnson family, loved all the wildflowers, and really appreciated coming "home" each day to our own comfortable cottage. We had everything we needed in the house. And quilting on that back porch: Charming! Thank you for sharing this lovely home with us.
