An absolutely stunning log home set in a surrounding that is surreal. Creek beside is music to the ears and acreage surrounding you is beautiful. This is certainly a nature lover’s paradise. Our dogs absolutely loved it. Will definitely return as well as recommend to friends and family that cherish the great outdoors.

If you want to relax and reconnect with nature this us the place to be. We had such an amazing time with our fur baby hiking and listening to the beautiful music from the creek. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful and peaceful but very remote.
The negative comments would be bedroom carpet was soiled and needs replaced. Cabin is very dark. Fireplace chimney needs cleaned. Silverware in kitchen is very cheap. Soap provided for bathrooms was inadequate. Too remote for us. Signage to air plane crash, etc. needs improvement.
Positive comments would be beautiful, peaceful property. Loved all the waterfalls and beautiful flowering bushes.

Just perfect!
We had such a fabulous New Year's and 1st anniversary get away in this cabin!!! The cabin was simple and just perfect for us and the property couldn't have been more gorgeous -- listening to Huffman Creek tumble below, watching the wind in the trees, hiking the beautiful trails on the property. We absolutely loved our stay and can't wait to come back!

Rejuvenating
The property was absolutely amazing and the views/hikes were breath taking. We met one of the keepers, Frank, and the owner, Robin, while out walking our dog. They were so kind and friendly. We could tell by the way they spoke of property how much they loved it. I could not have asked for a more peaceful and perfect vacation spot.

The most beautiful location!
We loved this cabin. So inviting and the property was gorgeous. A few things people should be prepared for: it is hard to find your way around at first. Recommend getting there in daylight. The roads are bumpy and 129 is very difficult to stomach if it's on your route😂. The wifi internet situation is not great. HOWEVER, this place is totally worth it if you're looking for beauty and seclusion. We wanted to stay forever. Frank the caretaker was very helpful and kind.

Nice Getaway Cabin
This is a nice little getaway cabin. I loved the sound of the creek on the property and the comfortable bed upstairs. It’s away from everything which I enjoyed. The only drawback was the fact that the fireplace, which is listed under amenities, doesn’t come with firewood. I contacted the owner and he was willing to have some sent over for a fee. I payed PLENTY of money for the rental so I felt like that wasn’t very awesome. Other than that it’s a great cabin.

Little cabin in the woods!
This lovely cabin was a delightful retreat for us. We love to hike in the Joyce Kilmer/ Slickrock Wilderness, and it was easily accessible from this very remote cabin. The land is thoughtfully developed by a family, with several cabins of different sizes. We retraced some of our favorite hikes (Hangover Lead, Naked Ground trail) and discovered new hikes-including Shuckstack Mountain and the fire tower-up from Fontana Dam. We explored some of the hikes off of the Cherohala Skyway, too. The property itself also has trails.

OFF THE GRID
If you want to be Off The Grid this is the place for you. Very Remote. No Cell service. No Internet service. Difficult road to the house. Cleanliness was sub par. However, if you want to be off the grid that might be ok with you. Pay attention to RETREAT in the name!! We stayed one night of our scheduled 6.

Gorgeous environment
We enjoyed the location of this cabin. Great area to hike and a beautiful creek right out the front door. I was a bit disappointed with the cleanliness of the cabin. The upstairs carpet was filthy and the furniture smelled of smoke from the wood fire place. The smell penetrated our clothing upon return home -even after washing while at cabin. Location was beautiful but would expect a bit cleaner environment for the money we paid

Our new annual location
Unexpected, unreal, unparalleled. We were blown away. As we drove further and further into the woods down a clearly less used gravel road, we were unsure if we had made the right decision. Coming into the final turn, we found ourselves on a blind hill and a bit panicked, but clearly that hill, we found ourselves in a secret, hidden hide away with the most beautiful views. There are a few cabins, but none impede the other privacy. The Hemlock is up a very steep hill and we were thankful to have four wheel drive.
The cabin was very very clean for a cabin in the woods. There are heaters, but we preferred the fireplace and the cast iron cook stove. They warm the house nicely and cooking on the cast iron was a delight. There is tons of hot water and a huge tub and a lovely shower.
Frank was a huge surprise. He is the on site property manager and the uncle you wish you had. Super nice and accommodating and a wonderful conversation. He has his sweet dog Nelly by his side at all times.
The hiking and falls were great but playing in the creeks was our families choice for cooling off and collecting rocks.
We hope to return soon with family and book a lodge.

We had a fantastic time in the Hemlock cabin. The incredible sound of the creek lulled us into sleep at night and helped us relax during the day. The cabin was cozy and full of modern conveniences and totally charming. Between the wood stove range and the fireplace we stayed cozy even in the snow. Big thanks to Frank who helped keep us in firewood. The hiking trails were beautiful as is the entire property. It is a lovely oasis away from the world, and we will for sure be back in the spring to see a new side of it.Totally reccomend this lovely place of respite.

Cozy Cabin
Huffman Creek Retreat is a beautiful place off the beaten path. So secluded and quiet, it would be impossible to not relax, especially with the trance of the creek. We really enjoyed our week at Hemlock Cabin.

Fun Family Getaway!
We can't say enough about this cute cabin! The cabin was the perfect size for our family of three and our dog. It is tastefully decorated and super cozy! The sound of the river in front of the house was amazing to listen to. We hiked during the day on the numerous trails that are all over the property. My 10 yr. old son played in the river on a daily basis and then we would have a fire in the fire pit every night. Frank, the retreats caretaker was very kind and helpful with anything that we needed. We suggest the hike in the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest. We hated to leave our cozy cabin in the woods!!!

Perfect western NC getaway!
This cabin exceeded our expectations, a truly lovely cabin in a beautiful location. Our family of three (plus two dogs) fit perfectly in the Hemlock Cabin. We enjoyed the front porch, the stream, campfires in the fire pit at night, and hiking the private trails. Easy communication with the owners. We would definitely stay here again!

Absolutely perfect!
This is a perfect cabin for a couple with a pooch! The property manager, Frank, was wonderful and super-smiley. The cabin is so darn cute! There is nothing we didn’t love. Our dog loved to go for walks off-leash with us. She never gets to do that at home. Other family members rented the large Creekside Lodge a five-minute walk away, so that added to the perfect vacation. Thank you!!!

Outstanding
I can't say enough to describe the beauty of this property. My wife, dog and I enjoyed exploring the beautiful creek and surrounding areas. Joyce Kilmer was a fantastic hike. I would highly recommend that you bring everything you need since Robbinsville was very underwhelming as far as towns are concerned. Wehrloom Honey is probably the only place worth visiting in the entire town. Ingles was a nice enough grocery store to pick up what we didn't bring with us. The creek and surrounding mountains of the property will more than make you want to stay on the retreat. The cabin was clean and the supplied firewood was a great touch. I would absolutely consider staying here again. Leaving was tremendously hard!

Exactly what I wanted!
I found this property by searching for a place that would allow me to bring my big dog and was fairly secluded. So peaceful and beautiful! The weather wasn’t the best while we were there but we still enjoyed the property. Living in Nashville, close to the interstate, and being married to a workaholic, you forget that you need to reset. We did hikes on the property, had a fire, put together a puzzle, and basically watched the day go by. It was fabulous!! We came prepared with food so we didn’t leave and check out local restaurants. After reading other reviews, we borrowed a friends crossover vehicle, neither my car or my husband’s old truck would of faired well getting up the driveway. I would definitely come back and extend the trip. My dog would of stayed there forever.

Cozy and comfortable in a beautiful and serene setting
Hemlock Cabin is “cozy rustic” with some luxury comforts (big bathtub, nice bed, comfy couch and chairs), but best of all is the amazing forest setting with 360 degree green views and the relaxing sound (and view) of the nearby stream. The front porch is a lovely place to sit and sip tea in the morning and the nearby fire pit is a great place for a sunset fire pit happy hour!
Frank and Robin welcomed us by helping to build a beautiful fire in the indoor fireplace and they are so friendly and helpful! The kitchen is mostly well equipped pots/pans/dishes-wise but we brought our own butter/seasonings etc. They did provide coffee and accessories. There’s no close place to eat so you will be cooking. We enjoyed it!
This is a wonderful property with responsive management and we would highly recommend it!

Little piece of heaven on earth
This place is wonderful! So secluded, relaxing and restful. The caretaker, Frank, is the kindest, most welcoming with that huge smile. The cleaning staff does an amazing job! We cannot wait to go back!

Amazing!
My husband and I had the most amazing time. It was so nice to just get away from the everyday hustle and bustle. We honestly spent most of our time sitting on the porch and listening to the creek that was right by the house. Out did, Titan, had the time of his life running around and enjoying his time. We will definitely be back!!!

Beautiful Cabin on Stunning Property
My wife and I stayed at the Hemlock Cabin at Huffman Creek this past weekend. It was a late honeymoon as we got married and started a small business earlier this summer and hadn't had a chance to get away. Also, it was very important for us to find a spot that would welcome our dogs... they needed to get away too!
This cabin, and the property it sits on, is absolutely stunning. The roar of the creek is a constant reminder that you are here to relax and enjoy nature. Unplug. Set the phone down. Take a hike (literally). The hiking trails are well kept with signage to keep you pointed in the right direction.
I can't say enough good things about this cabin, the property and the owners. We hope to be able to come back to this spot again in the future.

The cabin, the decor, the setting were 5 stars.
The odor, mostly coming from the down stairs bathroom was 0 stars. Due to the preponderance of rat poison found throughout the dwelling I think the smells were of dead mice in places you can not find them. We had to keep the door shut and the window open in that bathroom, and the smell still filtered into the living room. What should have been a perfectly enjoyable stay was instead diffused by putting up with the odors.

Just listen...
Our family loves to hike and we wanted to find a place that was secluded, peaceful, and beautiful. Hemlock cabin was perfect! Right now as I type this message I can hear the roaring creek from the rainfall and see the sun just starting to peek between the trees. We enjoyed this cabin so much but the setting is the icing on the cake. Every morning we would take a walk on one of the many hikes right outside the cabin. Your eyes are filled with lush greenery surrounding a gorgeous creek. Joyce Kilmer Forest is where we wanted to go to see the big poplars and they were impressive. We really enjoyed Cherohala Skyway and the amazing hikes off of it. Our favorite hikes were Huckleberry and Mud Gap because of the surprises at the top...amazingly beautiful. Thank you for this perfect getaway to recharge, reflect, and fully engage with my family.

Revisit the "Land of the Lost"
Watch your favorite Thomas Kincaid painting come to life. My two girls (14/10) and I really liked escaping to a land forgotten, void of all the hustle. We slept so good with the absence of any unnatural sounds. Good distance from town, so bring your food to cook some vittles. I'd guess the elevation was around 2500, but between some ridges and plenty of tree canopy where it doesn't get too hot during the day. A little humid when we were there, while on hikes. Hiking trails around camp are actually pretty challenging. Fire at night with fireflies. Wish all families could experience, but I'd rather keep it a secret for more adventures in the future. The creek was loud which we liked especially at night; not very deep, but if you have children they will like it - very crisp. Temp range while there in latter June was 65-78. Get to sunny area and maybe 80 on hike. The city was experiencing mid to upper 80S during the same period. Can't wait to save up and maybe go back....:( I've already recommended to other family members and they will probably try it out

Incredible property, much a pleasant surprise to find all the modern amenities in a rustic looking cabin. The solitude and sounds of nature were amazing. Only issues were that the master mattress is too soft for my liking. The road is difficult in a Mini Cooper, but has ample warning about this. The directions were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

Fabulous Location and Property!
Chestnut Cabin is spectacular! Comfortable, cozy, and very clean ( thank you Jesse!) The mountains were wonderful and the trails the Retreat created made hiking awesome. Wendy and Dave will be back!

Perfect retreat
This cabin was an absolutely perfect location to get away from it all and enjoy nature.
The views of the stream are spectacular and the surrounding area is amazing.
The drive in is beautiful and I wouldn't want to try the drive after dark partly because you would miss the beauty but mostly because of the winding, narrow, unpaved roads are challenging enough when you can see. We were in a small SUV and had no trouble managing the unpaved trails. Cell service for navigation really can't be counted on when heading in or out, so be prepared with the directions provided by the owner with the check in info.
When we arrived were pleasantly surprised by the perfectly decorated cabin. So much thoughtful detail went in to making the cabin feel like a cozy retreat.
We stayed over Thanksgiving weekend and took full advantage of the kitchen making a meal for two. There is a full sized refrigerator, dishwasher, and stove top. The oven itself seemed a little smaller than full sized, but worked perfectly. There is a wood burning oven too, but we weren't adventurous enough to try that out. There are dishes, cups, wine glasses, silverware, kitchen knives, bowls, pots, pans, casserole dishes and more than the basics.
Outside the kitchen the owners provided the basics and then some - hand soap, dish soap, paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, firewood, kindling, tv with cable and a DVD player, working wi-fi, and I had limited cell services with AT&T. The only items I wished we brought were camping chairs and a lighter for the fires.
There isn't central heat or air, but there were plenty of space heaters and the fireplace downstairs heated the place perfectly. There were also plenty of blankets to keep warm.
We used the fire pit outside and roasted s'mores. We used the porch rocking chairs to sit next to the fire, but I wish I had brought our camping chairs.
There are other cabins in view from the front of the cabin, but far enough away to make it feel secluded.
There are miles of hiking trails around the cabin too. We enjoyed hours of adventuring on the trails with our dog. The trails are very steep, but with going slow and taking breaks we were able to enjoy them.
I can't recommend this place enough - and we can't wait to book our next visit.

Awesome Cabin
This is one of the nicest cabins you can imagine. The location is gorgeous; set deep into the woods with a fast running stream right in front of the cabin, and walking trails all around the area. The cabin itself is beautifully decorated and clean, and the owners put a lot of effort into making it incredibly comfortable for their guests. If you need to get away from the stresses of everyday life this is the place to go. The driveway is a challenge for a regular car (we have an AWD pickup), and you must come prepared with all the food and drink you will need. That said, this is a rental you will want to visit again and again.

Excellent location, beautiful cabin
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hemlock cabin. The gravel road leading to the cabin also makes it a great place. The stream below the cabin, the hiking trails were spectacular. The cabin is close to joyce kilmer, an excellent hiking area. We traveled to cataloochee valley to see the elk (early morning, need to be there by 9 or you will miss them). It is about a 2 hour drive, but well worth it. The cabin has comfortable furniture, a well stocked kitchen, outdoor firepit, outdoor grilling. The nights were cold enough to have a fire each night in the fireplace. BJ, the cabin concierge, brought firewood promptly when we ran out. He was also handy when we needed him and a chainsaw to clear a downed tree after the remnants of hurricane nate made his appearance and brought heavy rains and winds and knocked out power. The owners made it clear to us that they were available to us at any time. We would definitely recommend this cabin. The craftsmanship inside the cabin was so nice, it felt like the outdoors were brought inside. We can't think of any negative with this property, perfect for 2, 3 people at the max.
