The property couldn’t have more been perfect. We had all ages and everyone was happy with all the things that were available to entertain them. Bocce, baseball, ping pong, fire pit w s'mores were a few highlights. The house was well stocked and we were very comfortable. I highly recommend this property!

This was our second time to stay as we celebrated Mom's 85th birthday. Our small family LOVED the peacefulness and serenity all the while enjoying time together. The property is incredibly well landscaped and useful for multiple enjoyment.

Its hard to find a home with so many good amenities that can hold two families comfortably. The home has everything you need and more. We had such a wonderful stay playing games in the yard, bbqing dinners, and fire pit evenings. The beds were comfortable and the sheets luxurious.

During our stay in Twain Harte, we were fortunate to stay in the beautiful home(s) owned by Cathy and Mark Burket. During our stay from the 1st to the 6th of April, the weather was unseasonably cool with snow on the ground the entire time. However, we enjoyed the property, the ability to spread out in the house and cottage, and the many tourist destinations, restaurants in the area, and the excellent Twain Harte market. The house and cottage were well stocked with everything you need when staying for a few days. Items in the house were carefully marked so we could tell what switch belonged to which set of lights, where dishes were supposed to go, and how to operate equipment. Because of the cost of electricity, the heating was carefully controlled which makes sense for those of us who continue to enjoy affordable VRBO properties.
Owner support was excellent, from the best way to drive to the property, to answering questions as they came up. Checkout procedures included a detailed check out sheet which allowed us to identify issues so they could be fixed prior to the next tenant. We had two very minor issues, one of which was a light bulb that went out (and there were still plenty of other lights). Motion activated lights in the restrooms were a great, a very user-friendly safety feature.
I’ll sum it up this way, while we enjoyed features like the Big Trees state park, the llama ranch, gold mining, etc., in better weather, we would have been quite content to

This home is incredibly clean, spacious, organized and well equipped with opportunities to play and relax. We played basketball, whiffle ball, bocce and board games all with equipment found in the home. We drove a short way to tennis and pickleball as well. Hiking nearby was beautiful and the town of Twain Harte has a great grocery store, wine tasting and restaurant that we enjoyed.

In all of the years that our group (five couples) have been renting homes for long weekend getaways, we all agreed that we have never found one that fit our needs more perfectly than Mark & Kathy's "Mountain House".
From the moment you drive onto the property you notice how much care has been put into every square inch of the three acres and then you walk into the house! From the bedrooms to the kitchen, you can see the attention to detail everywhere you look...what a lovely and comfortable environment in which to spend time with friends and family.
We look forward to returning and spending time relaxing, playing bocce, and exploring more of the local area. Thanks Mark & Kathy for setting the standard and especially, to Kathy for sharing the great tips of places to see and where to eat.

We have stayed at this beautiful home both in the winter and summer and loved our stay each time. In the wintertime our kids enjoyed the large selection of board games and movies as well as the sleds that were supplied in the shed. In the summer we roasted smores at the fire pit and played wiffle ball on the expansive lawn. Both times we went to Dodge Ridge-- just a 20-30 minute car ride away-- to ski (in the winter) and mountain bike (summer). Pinecrest Lake is also close by, a beautiful family friendly lake with hiking, a marina and general store. Great family vacation no matter the season!

My extended family had a wonderful time staying at Cathy’s Twain Harte property on Labor Day Weekend. It is evident that this is not just a rental property, but her family’s second home by the way it has been painstakingly kept up. My family rented both the main house and cottage and it was the perfect amount of space for our large group of adults, teenagers and children. The property had every amenity you could think of, but we especially loved the gas firepit, game shed and porch for enjoying the beautiful location, including lots of wildlife such as deer, rabbits and even bears (although we just saw the tracks). We will absolutely consider staying here again for future trips!

The rental was clean and very organized. It was clear how the owner wanted check out completed which made it easy when getting ready to check out. The owner had a list of fun things to do around the area and places to eat. We had so much fun at the property, there was always something to do. Our large group of 10, consisting of 8 adults and 2 children (ages 6, 4) loved our 5 day stay at the Mountain House. The house and cottage were both clean and inviting and the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The entire home was well organized, the kitchen fully equipped, beds super comfortable, and the game shed offered a wide variety of fun outdoor activities. We enjoyed every meal outside on the beautiful patio and spent evenings under the stars gathered around the fire pit roasting marshmello's. The host Cathy was detailed and communicative from beginning to end and even shared details on local events during our stay. The surrounding area offers tons of activities year around; we enjoyed fishing/boating at Pinecrest Lake, Columbia State Historic Park, and horseback riding, just to name a few. Overall, we had a wonderful and relaxing time and would highly recommend this property to anyone considering a stay in the Twain Harte/Pinecrest area!! Thank you, Cathy for sharing your home with us!

Love the game shed and all the options for adult and kid entertainment. Also loved the huge arrange of dvd’s to choose from. Marvelous Mountain Retreat
What a beautiful, well taken care of, clean, fun place to visit. The property, home and cottage are exactly as described. Check in was easy and all of the instructions provided were very helpful. There was plenty of room for 11 of us (9 adults and two kids under 3). The property is park-like and there are so many games to play we barely left to do other things. The gas fire ring was perfect for an evening under the stars. We very much enjoyed seeing the wild turkeys, deer and squirrels roam through the property as well. I would highly recommend the home and cottage to anyone wanting a mountain get-a-way with family and/or friends.

Mountain Home Getaway
We had a memorable and wonderful experience. We celebrated our grandson’s 2nd birthday. We stayed in the cottage and the rest of our family stayed in the main house. Relaxing family cabin
Our large family recently stayed at this beautiful house in Twain Harte. We were so pleased with how the owners had thought of every detail! From the comfy furniture, to the large selection of movies and games, there was plenty to do for our kids of all ages. The outdoor game shed was stocked with so many fun activities that we ran out of time before we could use them all!
The separate cottage was amazing and was well worth adding to have space for all of our kids and grandkids to come along on this trip.
The area is beautiful for taking walks and is really close to restaurants and groceries if needed.

Fantastic stay!
I highly recommend this home. It’s a beautiful home on a lovely plot of land. There is so much to do! The owner provides a huge variety of outdoor games and a large fire pit with cozy chairs. Inside there is an enormous DVD library. We watched some old favorites! The neighborhood is beautiful and wonderful to walk around. Downtown Twain Harte is nearby and so cute. Sonora is a short drive away and has a variety or shops and restaurants. We went to the snow park which was a total blast and an easy drive due to no snow on the roads. This place would be excellent to stay any time of the year. The owner was communicative and detail oriented. The home is kept in immaculate condition. Great trip!

More than I could have imagined in a vacation weekend
This property is incredible! Our group ranges from 10 to 16 or more and we have gotten together every year for the last 9 years and I think this is the property that has best fit our group and our groups needs (we were 11 people this year). There is everything you need to entertain on property. Amazing outdoor options like bocce ball, corn hole, you name it it was probably there. The kitchen provided more than I expected to have access to with two full stove/ovens and any appliance you could possibly need. 3 of the rooms having king beds was a great bonus. We did go out to local Sonora for one day but the next day we had enough entertainment at the house that we didn't need to go anywhere, but stayed and played games and chatted. We also rented the cottage house and it is awesome as well. Thank you owners for an incredible extended weekend!

Our group was a small women's retreat. What an amazing property! We loved everything about it! The house and grounds are spacious, clean, so well organized and stocked with all necessities plus many other things! The property is so well maintained and includes wonderful outdoor game areas, along with many games. Everything is so well marked and organized. What a truly wonderful place to stay! Great Mountain House!
What a special property! It was great to watch the foothills become mountains on our drive up. The drive is easy and a short downhill drive from 108. We had a 6 night stay with 6 adults and 3 kids ages 1-80 in the main house and cottage. There is great space to gather and enough room to do your own thing. The beds are very comfortable and the area is very quiet. We opted to keep on AT&T’s network for our phones. We had 1 bar of 5G on our iPhone 12’s, which was fast enough for normal cell phone browsing. The house Wifi was good to do the emailing needed for work requests. We did not push the limits on the WiFi. We saved the must have emergency kid entertainment to the iPad before coming just in case. Communication from the owner was great! Thanks for sharing your mountain house with our family.

Excellent House for Getting Away
The description of the house is very accurate. The game shed is amazing. We spent much of the day (when not at Pinecrest or at other lakes in the area) playing table tennis, bocce, badminton and the other games. Nights were very pleasant, wine and smores by the fire pit, etc. Would highly recommend Cathy's house! She is a very helpful and kind host.

The house and property were perfect for our family. The house was clean and well equipped. Beds were comfortable. The house is spacious and the furniture is comfortable. Our favorite part for both adults and kids was the yard. A huge lawn to play on with every game provided. A fire pit for the evening marshmallows roasting.
We also rented the cottage which was as lovely as the main house.
Working with Cathy was a pleasure. All directions and instructions provided were easy to follow and made the stay a breeze. We shall return again.

Beautiful Cabin Getaway
The Mountain House is a beautiful refuge. It is meticulously maintained and full of activities to keep everyone engaged and happy. Our granddaughter passed on visiting Pinecrest Lake so that the family could stay at the house and play together.
