Cottage on Historic Gentleman's Farm
Situés au cœur du comté historique de Chester, peu d'endroits aux États-Unis offrent autant de choses à voir et à faire. Certaines des plus belles créations de l'homme ou de la nature sont à proximité (1h). Le chalet est situé sur un domaine de 70 acres (vers 1797) avec des champs et des sentiers, entouré de plus de 2000 acres de terres privées. Pourtant, il y a des restaurants gastronomiques, du tennis et des sites historiques à distance de marche ou à vélo. À la fin des années 1990, le comté de Chester figurait parmi les dix premiers comtés où vivre, en raison de sa beauté, de son importance historique et de la sophistication générale de ses habitants. Les calèches et les montgolfières ne sont que quelques-uns des sites d'intérêt communs. Le chalet est situé sur une voie privée, juste à côté d'une route de campagne calme et pittoresque qui est un favori des cyclistes, des joggeurs et des cavaliers. Had a great 6 night stay at the cottage… The property was beautiful , quiet and was just what we were looking for!

Very enjoyable stay at the cottage. Very nice accommodations and very quiet. Loved the spring. Sorry to have missed the owners, would have loved to tour the farm house and barn. Almost brought Tin Tin home with us.

Over the years, I have never written a negative VRBO review. However, the disappointing experience at this property needs to be addressed because the property was dirty. We arrived shortly after the check-in time of 4:00. The unit was unlocked (per the owner) so no problem with the check-in. The unit was not clean. We walked into dirty towels, sheets, dishes, bathroom, etc. There was an extremely musty odor. The tables and floor had crumbs, etc. We immediately sent a message through VRBO and left messages on TWO different telephone numbers for the owner. We left to attend a family event 30 minutes away.
After an hour or so without a reply, we called VRBO. VRBO called the owner twice and the owner hung up on VRBO. VRBO asked us for pictures. Then instructed us to return to the property to pick up our bags ASAP.
As we approached the property, VRBO advised us that they had finally connected with the owner and the room would be clean. Upon entering, he was cleaning the house and burning incense to eliminate the odor. He apologized.
While I appreciate that the sheets were changed, the soiled towels removed and the vacuum run in parts of the house. The house could use a thorough cleaning; dust, dirt under the end tables, cobwebs on the bed, conditioner build-up in the shower. I am sorry but this house did not meet the high standards of other properties that we have enjoyed through VRBO.

Beautiful historic cottage on tranquil property. This cottage is located near lots of sightseeing options. You can experience the coolness of the morning on the porch as the sun rises over the tree line. Interior is gorgeous with historic features! Bed is very comfortable!!

Can't write enough nice things about how beautiful the location is. If you like to start your day with a quiet walk among picturesque landscape and horses, this is ideal. Chris makes everything super easy and laid back. I look forward to a third visit next year.

This was my first VRBO rental and I was not disappointed. The guest cottage was beautiful and there was music playing and fresh cut flowers to add to the welcome ambience. Everything was perfect except for perhaps some difficulty navigating the TV electronics that we were not interested in watching anyway.
It was very pet friendly without additional charges. We would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I loved staying here! The property was beautiful. We hiked on the adjoining trails, and our 2 dogs were excited to be there. Open fields and streams are their favorites!
The cottage was cute, clean, and comfortable. We had a wonderful weekend visiting with our grandchildren and family. Thank you, Chris!

The cottage was not clean and we suspect the sheets were not changed. We bought an inexpensive set and put them on the bed. We strongly suggest that the host use a professional cleaning service, Merry Maids?Some lights didn’t work, host tried to fix, but poor result. Fireplace in sun room was set on low and could be turned high but there was a strong smell of gas so to be safe we turned it off. Cabinets in the bathroom need to be fixed, doors did not open or close properly. The oven door did not open. Washer reported as not draining so we couldn’t use it. Overall we had a pleasant stay. The cottage is charming and cozy, but needs TLC. The visitors instructions also need to be re-written.

We arrived well after dark, so it was lovely to arrive to a cottage with twinkle lights shining inside and soft music playing upstairs (although Hubby couldn't figure out how to turn it off because it's in a cupboard and he was too tired to look in the house binder).
As others have said, the screened-in porch is magical, especially with the new swivel rockers and double chaise lounge. Watching the swallow family feed their chicks in the nest built in the eaves was the icing on the cake of this experience!
The bed was very comfy, and all the high-touch surfaces were very clean. It was the other areas that seem like they haven't been cleaned in awhile, especially the bedroom carpet, which would benefit from more frequent shampooing.
The a/c unit in the bedroom also gave off a tangy smell when turned on, so we were delighted when the humidity eased off and we could keep the windows open and use the new (and powerful!) table fan to keep air moving. I very much appreciated that fan!
Even though the listing says "pets allowed," when I asked for clarification about where we should keep our cat's litter, I got the impression that "pets" meant dogs after reading Chris's response to my message. I had only even thought to ask about my cat after reading a review about small dogs. The screened-in porch turned out to be the perfect place to keep her litter, so it all worked out.

The place was really nice and really comfortable. So close to Pheonixville where we were hanging out for the weekend. We will be back next year.

Chris was super accommodating and such a friendly Host! His cottage and the entire property are absolutely beautiful-- so peaceful, relaxing-- such a welcoming and laid back place to spend a few quiet, restorative days! The cottage pictures, listing and the entire experience were even better in person than as shown on VRBO! Chris grew up on the historic property and has a wealth of historical information to share if you're interested in knowing more about the Chester Springs area. We LOVED THE SCREENED IN PORCH!! It was such an enjoyable stay-- we'd definitely stay with Chris again! Can only imagine how beautiful the property is blanketed with snow! Thanks for making us feel so welcome, Chris!

This is a lovely country setting. Remote from the hustle and bustle of traffic and shopping centers. I am from the area and was so happy to be able to go back and enjoy staying in a cottage rather than a hotel.

If you want to be out of town a little so you can enjoy walks in this beautiful area, I highly recommend this place. Just walking up some roads from the property, you will come up on nature paths and amazing views. The enclosed porch looks into a relaxing picture of green foliage, flowers, etc. A really peaceful place.

When reading that dogs were allowed but not on the furniture I drove from Maine to Pennsylvania to stay here with the hopes for extended stay over the winter with my dog but was disappointed when I read in the book at the cottage that all dogs were only allowed on the porch.

This was the most interesting vacation rental we've tried. Learning the history of the farm from the records available at the cottage--the before and after renovation photos, family information, and especially the excellent memoir by the owner's father--made this stay most special. Having grown up on a farm myself particularly helped me appreciate the impressive renovation and maintenance required for this very pretty place. Our dog also enjoyed the strolls along the pasture, creek, pond and woods--very nice indeed. Highly recommended!

This was just what we needed for our quick stop in the Chester Springs area to visit with our family. The property was beautiful and the cottage fully met our needs with everything from a comfy bed to wonderful enclosed porch with a great view to sit in the sun and enjoy coffee. We already have made plans to return.

Such a beautiful cottage on a quiet road settled on gorgeous grounds. Perfect for a couple. Cozy furniture from the sofas, bed, patio chairs and lounge. The cottage is extremely well kept and very clean. Our favorite time of the day was sitting on the patio having our coffee listening to nature. Kitchen is supplied with everything you need. I highly recommend this cottage and we'll certainly be returning. We did not want to leave :)

The Solitude We Needed
This property provided us with the quiet solitude we were seeking in a beautiful setting. Our brief interactions with the few people we saw were pleasant and friendly, including the canine variety!
For those who appreciate historic ambiance and are attracted to natural beauty, we highly recommend this location. In fact, we want to return for a longer stay ourselves!

Peaceful Cottage
This cottage was comfortable and the location was peaceful and quiet. There are 2 other residences on the property and 4-5 cars in the parking lot but I never saw another person during my 2 day stay. I loved being able to take my dog out into the back field and let her run.
