Fantastic location, serene property, adorable cottage, property manager, Matt, was a truly magnificent host; very friendly, knowledgeable, gave us a tour of the property, just super nice and accommodating. House was clean, all the amenities were there, just what our family needed to relax and get away from our usual hustle. Truly can't wait to come back!

The cottage is just so charming. Amenities and the property manager where excellent made sure we had everything. Close to wineries and trail hikes, gift stores and restaurants. The chickens, rooster and cows are adorable. We had fun feeding them and walking some trails right on the property!! We will be back this was our second time staying on the Ramsey Estate.

The home and location were even better than described. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well stocked, and the whole place thoughtfully decorated. We especially loved cool fall evenings by the rustic outdoor fireplace and morning coffee on the screen porch. Beyond the cottage itself, we also enjoyed exploring the rest of the estate, visiting the chickens and cows, and walking in the vineyard. We will definitely stay here again when we are back in Charlottesville.

Our family was able to spend the weekend of UVA graduation in this lovely home on the historic Ramsey Estate. It was a peaceful, dreamy retreat and the perfect place to celebrate an important event. The living room and porch and outside areas were perfect for gathering. The kitchen was well-supplied and the manager was friendly and generous. The interior was absolutely adorable and beyond comfortable. We can't wait to return.

This house was set on a beautiful estate close to many wineries. The view from the screened in back porch was amazing. We loved the house although the kitchen did not have some of the basics that I’m accustomed to seeing: basic spices like salt and pepper, sugar, olive oil. So be prepared if you plan to cook. The bed in the king sized room was really two twins put together in an off way that made the middle arch up. Really though, other than those two things, it was the perfect house for our group. Highly recommend!

An experience without equal and one for which I shall always pine. One which lacked even the slightest inkling of something about which to complain, yet if under durress, I had to lodge any, my quips would be that our stay was far too short and that I couldn't buy the Ramsay Cottage. Regardless, Matt, the property's exceptional overseer, was fantastic. He had everything ship shape and bristol fashion upon our arrival and communicated splendldly throughout our stay. We wanted for nothing at all, save more time at this truly grand and beautiful place, one to which I know we shall return again.

The house was beautiful and better than described. It's a quaint older farmhouse that's been updated and very well decorated. The scenery was beautiful and we had the run of the entire estate. The farm manager even built us a fire in the outdoor fireplace. We plan to come back.

This is not a cookie-cutter property. The house is beautifully decorated with high-quality fabrics and lots of unique touches. The views are amazing and the property extremely well-maintained with a great outdoor firepit space. UVA Graduation
Great place for UVA graduation weekend. Less than 20 minutes from campus and near a bunch of great wineries gave us great options. The house is spacious and has a breathtaking view of the Blue Ridge Mountains from its screened in porch. Fully air conditioned and comfortable. Cows and roosters on the estate adds to the charm, including a new addition Lily the Calf. Great spot!

Really charming but….
Can’t beat the location - great wineries and restaurants near by and the house is located on a beautiful property with privacy and an amazing view. The house is decorated gorgeously with very high quality fabrics and the beds are really comfortable. On the downside, the house is in need of some tlc- the hall bath sink drips constantly, the paint is peeling in several spots and the porch lights don’t work and the kitchen needs a deep cleaning. More expensive than it should be for the shape it is in but lots to like anyway. If you go, eat at the green leaf grill - amazing.

Charming Stay
Perfect place to share the holiday with friends and family. Close proximity to everything, clean, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy the views and amenities. The only problem, the king bed broke and made for an uncomfortable night’s sleep.

We stayed for a week family mountain retreat and had the best time! The home is cozy, well supplied and in the prettiest setting. The property is gorgeous with lots of acres to walk and explore. We will be back!

Beautiful Property and Great Location
The cottage is lovely and was the perfect location for our weekend getaway. We especially enjoyed the beautiful views, the screened porch area, and the short distance to many of the areas wineries. Caretaker Whit was very responsive even though he had to be away during our stay. Highly recommended.

Family overflow for event
I got the home for a event in North Garden. It housed my adult children and one child. All were happy with home and especially kindness and responsiveness of Whit (on property manager). It was close to grocery stores and such for my grandson’s needs.

Beautiful property
Awesome house on beautiful property. Very clean and kitchen is well outfitted. Would stay here again and again! One note: the floors (especially the kitchen) are very slippery. Yes this is a weird comment but I almost fell hard multiple times because of it. Also, if you want to build a fire, they have plenty of wood but bring your own kindling or starter log.

Amazing family getaway
We just spent 5 days here with our three young kids had had a incredible time. The property is GORGEOUS and the cottage was perfect for our family. The property manager was on site and incredibly helpful. We loved the outdoor fireplace each evening and waking up to the beautiful sunrise over the blue ridge mountains. We will definitely be back!! Very close to wineries and breweries and just 20 min to Charlottesville restaurants.

Lovely stay! Great location.
We celebrated my Mom's retirement during COVID and the spot was prefect. Plenty of privacy. The property manager was on the property if you needed anything including chopped wood, etc, but it's a vast property so no running into anyone. Super cute decor and a quaint atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor fireplaces. Close to many of the best wineries, ciders and breweries. We even hit some antique stores, which made Mom very happy! We would absolutely return.

History and Beauty
My wife's birthday weekend was a complete success. We had things planned throughout the long weekend, but the stay at the Ramsay Estate was what tied everything together. From the cleanliness of the house to the welcoming caretaker, our group kept mentioning how much they enjoyed the house and the weekend. The outdoor fireplace is one key spot that my group thoroughly enjoyed on the cool fall nights. This is a perfect spot for the wineries in the region. I would definitely stay here again.

My parents, partner, and I had a wonderful long weekend at Ramsay during beautiful October weather. The home is comfortable, impeccably clean, and welcoming - and the views are so outstanding we didn't leave the property at all one day. Stephen is a very helpful and welcoming point of contact and went the extra mile to mail an article of clothing we'd inadvertently left behind. I highly recommend this home for groups of friends or family - the set-up allows everyone privacy (3 bathrooms! plenty of space for early birds to be up and about without disturbing those sleeping in!) with wonderful communal spaces to relax (outdoor fireplace! comfortable living room!), all within minutes of Skyline Drive, wineries and restaurants in/near Crozet, and an easy hop down 64 to Charlottesville itself.

Great stay at the Cottage at Ramsay
Three of my friends and I rented the cottage for a long weekend of enjoying the fall foliage and touring the area's historic sites and wineries. We hated leaving the cottage, which was spotlessly clean, thoughtfully decorated, and very welcoming. So we spent much more time at the cottage than we planned! There was also excellent communication from Stephen, who manages the estate, and many special touches such as muffins and coffee (and more) for our breakfast, plenty of firewood, and a tour. We would highly recommend the cottage to those visiting the area!

Had a wonderful relaxing enjoyable experience at Ramsey House. The perfect vacation Steven was the perfect caretaker loaded with information regarding the history of the property. We visited Charlottesville, Crozet and Schuyler. The view was spectacular. We built a fire in the fireplace and ate breakfast every morning either on the porch or the front room with big windows.

Great stay in lovely cottage
We had a great family experience. The view from the back porch is breathtaking and the grounds are lovely. Enjoyed sitting out by the old fireplace and cooking on the outdoor grill. 2 year old grandson had a ball as did all 3 generations that were there.

Wonderful stay for our family
We had an excellent stay at Ramsay Cottage. Despite the fact that it was raining we still enjoyed the views and tranquility. Stephen, the groundskeeper, was over the top helpful and really made our stay feel welcoming and easy. The house was stocked with fruit and light snacks, which was perfect for our family with small children. The beds were comfortable, the linens all so soft, the showers had great water pressure (esp. for an old house!) everything was basically perfect. And there was lots of room for us. The screened-in porch was a great touch. I would love to have another excuse to visit again!

Ramsay Cottage great in every way!
We chose the Ramsay Cottage for our son's UVA graduation weekend...WOW! Ramsay is beautiful, peaceful, gracious and historic-breathtaking! The "cottage" was 5 star, comfy beds, great linens and impeccably clean. The sun porch overlooking the estate was the perfect setting for our graduation dinner. The hospitality and knowledge of the estate provided by Stephen, the property manager added to the enjoyment. We did not want to leave.
