Such a little piece of heaven. Ethel is very welcoming and very knowledgeable about the area. Location is great as a jumping off place convenient to the airport and south shore. What a great property and host. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and only wish we could have stayed longer. The home is very comfortable and had every amenity we needed for us and our two dogs. Ethel was so hospitable and we appreciated her warm welcome, suggestions for places to eat and visit in the area and even the use of her bikes. The trail system right behind her home is fantastic and her property itself has a lot to offer. Would highly recommend staying here to anyone. Great location to access so much in the area!

My family and I had the best time!

Visited mid May 2022. The weather was beautiful, the accommodations were clean and the host, Ethel, was very nice. If you are looking to unwind, I highly recommend this place!

The lower flat was clean and very well equipped with almost everything imaginable ( though a battery operated radio might have been a good addition!). The beds were comfortable. The location was great, being close to lovely beaches and tourist destinations, as well as being an easy drive from Halifax. Everything was great until the arrival of a hurricane which knocked out power to the region. It left us without water, heat or functioning toilets. Since it was uncertain when power might resume, we left for home the day after the storm, 2 days before we planned. Unfortunately, circumstances meant that we left the flat in a messy condition that normally would have horrified us. Because of this, when Ethel offered us a refund, we agreed to accept only 50% to compensate her for having to clean up after us. If we have the opportunity, we would return to The Beach House and we would recommend it to others as a nice place to stay, but perhaps not in hurricane season!

We were looking for something central to some of the spots we wanted to see - Halifax, Lunenburg, Peggy’s Cove, etc. This little spot was perfect for the 4 of us. We didn’t use the “property” much...only to eat a couple of meals and sleep, but it worked great for us. Lots of stuff to use if we wanted (bikes, boogie boards, etc) but we were gone everyday. Ethel was pleasant and friendly - lovely lady! Although we were in the lower flat, we hardly heard her upstairs at all. A great, comfortable spot!

The property was great especially for family with small children. Access to water, with kayaks, canoes etc. The bathroom is on the small side, but has all that is needed.

This place was exactly as describe, and perfectly located for our trip. The place was clean and comfortable. I really appreciated the homey feel. I was able to make meals for the family and even got a couple loads of laundry done. Plenty of windows for a downstairs suite. The beds were comfortable. The host, Ethel was wonderfull. Very prompt on her emails, very helpful once we got there. I would definitely recommend this place.

Beautiful bright clean! Wonderful host! Beautiful setting! Of the 4 HomeAways we stayed at this was by far the best! Located very close to Peggy's Cove (30 min) . Host has kayaks avaliable for use. Badminton, bikes, with 35 k trail behind the house and so much more. Everything you need while away, she has! So many beaches near by! I can't say enough wonderful things about the host. She is such a happy bubby person and so approachable. The only negative was having to leave. This truly is a little piece of heaven!

The half basement apartment had windows all around making it very bright. We didn’t feel in a half basement at all. The kids appreciated the many toys put to their disposal and we appreciated the hosts suggestions for visits and restaurants. There were several beaches nearby.

We had a great time. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Great place for a holiday.

We spent 5 nights at this wonderful beach house lower flat. There were 4 of us - all adults and there was plenty of room. Great location for day trips - Mahone Bay, Hubbards, Peggy's Cove, Lunenberg etc. Great running hiking path right behind the flat. Well equipped- owner even had cofee, cream and sugar ready for us. Ethel was very accomodating of our increasing our time there with little notice . A great host. We hope to go back another time soon!

Great location to explore the south shores of NS and Halifax

We loved it. Ethel was an awesome hostess,, fully stocked rental with kayaks, life jackets bikes helmets everything needed for an awesome vacation, will definitely recommend to anyone,,, will be back for sure

From arrival to departure, we loved the beach house. Yes, it’s in the basement but you really never notice because there are so many windows and they have screens - so they ca be open. The location is great, the beaches are awesome, great trails for biking and walking/running, cute communities w yummy restaurants and interesting sights, and best of all, the homeowner is a gem. Awesome!

We were only there for 2 nights, and used the house as a home base for when we were touring Halifax, which was sad, because Ethel has SO MANY things for the kids (and adults) to do there!! One of the girls did take a sea kayak out, in the bay across the road, one evening, and she LOVED it!! Ethel was so very accommodating, and found us a single mattress when we realized that the cabin slept 5, and there were 6 of us (mom goofed when making the reservation!).....one of the kids slept very well on the mattress! We wandered along the Rocks, right across the street, and my girls each found a small handful of sea glass, which made their days!! I would HIGHLY recommend this cabin, and would highly recommend using it for more then a “home base”!!!

we had an amazing time, Ethel was wonderful and very accommodating, she even brought down smore supplies for our kids while we were having a campfire! The cabin is clean and was able to accommodate our family of five with ease. Our only complaint was that we had to leave! :) Thanks again Ethel!

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful week and felt instantly at home at this well equipped cottage. Ethel was very welcoming and the perfect host:) Great location and great for families, she has thought of everything...we didn't get to use a lot of the amenities this time around maybe next time. Thanks again for an amazing week!

Ethel was so very welcoming and accomodating. There was so much at our disposal that we regretted not having the time to take advantage of it all! We plan on coming back another time and will hopefully stay here again. Highly recommend!!

The location is terrifc, and the hostess was very pleasant and accommodating. The flat is generally clean and has just about everything you need other than your food. Wireless internet speed is decent, but there is no satellite or cable TV service. The only issue I had was related to noise. The hostess is perfectly quiet.... The problem was the water system. The property is on well water, so pumps are required to supply water to the house as well as drain waste water. These pumps happen to be just on the other side of a hallow door outside the bedrooms, and can be disruptive in the evening if someone in the house uses water. Other than that I had no reason to complain. Recommended, particularly if you are not bothered by some noise when sleeping.

We were NOT disappointed with our choice or our stay with Ethel. The space is larger than we anticipated, well stocked with everything needed to cook, clean, and relax. We were impressed with the beach themed decorations throughout the rooms. The location is convenient for many day trips east or west, south shore shopping, beach visits. Halifax and Peggy's Cove are within easy reach also. We can heartily recommend this Black Point property to others, and would not hesitate to return there--tho it is a long hike from Wisconsin !

Absolutely perfect! Exactly what we were looking for. Close to the ocean and beaches and shoreline views. Coffee each morning on the beach was beautiful. We are a family of four that were there for 6 nights Highly recommend this place - especially if you have children but also perfect for a couple. Ethel was so professional and made you feel like you were part of her family. She was very accommodating and also had all kinds of things to help make your stay enjoyable. She was even able to provide a tent trailer for 4 members of our family that ran into well issues at their own Halifax home so came to stay with us for a few days. The beach flat had all necessities needed - right down to beach toys for our 'unplanned' young family members that joined us!

We have had a wonderful week at Ethel's beach house. Although we didn't get to meet her in person, we felt very welcome from the get go and she was in touch constantly to check up on our stay and whether we needed anything. The home is located in a beautiful spot, 40 minutes to Halifax in one direction and 40 minutes to Lunenburg in the other. Both are absolutely lovely cities and well worth a visit each too. The home is well provisioned with everything you could possibly need and more! It was clean, cool and spacious. We loved having Netflix too! Our kids enjoyed playing on the play/swing set in the backyard and spent all their spare moments there. We would love to come back again one day...
