We all really enjoyed everything, even the lashings of rain! The Big Broom Cupboard exceeded our expectations, as did the stunning views, garden and surrounding area. Rob made a brilliant cake and was very helpful with any questions we had. There were lots of extras in the property which were very appreciated. It would definitely be a property we would return to if we were in the area again.

The Big Broom Cupboard did not disapppoint. It's situated in a lovely setting in Devon. Robert and Sylvia were great hosts. We arrived to a welcome home made cake, that was delicious. The property is lught, airy, well equipped and felt homely and comfortable with fabulous views of the Devon countryside. Would definately return.

Robert is a great host. Everything was better than expected. Everything was clean and really everything we could imagine was available. We enjoyed our stay so much. It was so quiet there, besides the sheeps and singing birds. A really lovely place to stay. Robert is so kind, we even got a vegan cake and vegan icecream on arrival. Just because we asked for restaurants with vegan options a week before our stay. That’s amazing. Thanks for the great time.

We rented this for our wedding party and it was perfect. Ample parking and easy to come and go. The space was lovely for getting ready and the garden was really lovely. The sheep were a real treat. Thank you!

Stunning views, thoughtfully decorated with a little wink to the 60's which gives the space a bit of history. Luxury touches which give it a hotel feel. A space filled with good ideas, flowers, pantry donations, cake, dressing gowns some things you don't normally see in a holiday let. We had a very restful stay and would love to return.

A beautiful home with stunning views. The owners have put a lot of thought into this property as everything you might need is provided! It is furnished (and cleaned!) to a high standard. The location is great for walking, cycling and day trips. We had a great week here. Highly recommended!

The bathrooms are all very stylish, with hotel quality soaps, lotion and shampoo. Like a hotel but better! Excellent mattresses as well. We stayed during a warm and sunny week, and were really amazed at how cool the house got at night, due to the numerous windows, skylights and the floor to ceiling glass doors that really let the breeze flow through. It was delightful after the heat of the day. The entire property is landscaped and has colorful plants all around to enjoy from several different outside seating areas. It was tough to get motivated to leave the grounds! We had an amazing time and hated to leave. Thanks Robert for the hospitality and opening your delightful cottage to others to enjoy. Would definitely come back if our travel plans permit.

This property is outstanding with every thing inside is of a high standard. It is very quiet location, with the only things you can hear are the sheep and the cows in the distance.

Accommodation was fab, hosts were too, and the location was perfect, set in rolling farmlands the garden was lovely with a great view for the sunsets. Surrounded by a number of lovely villages, it seemed each with their own 500 year old gastro pub! It’s a great base to explore Devon and Cornwall

My wife and I stayed at the Big Broom Cupboard for a week and were so impressed with both the property and location. The house is so comfortable with top notch furnishings a real home from home. set in beautiful countryside we felt so relaxed. Robert the owner made us very welcome, but without being intrusive we even had the added bonus of a lovely welcome each day from Sukie his gorgeous dog. If you are looking for a comfortable countryside cottage in a central location with good access to explore Devon then this is the place to stay. thank you Robert for a great week regards Mark & Karen Whittingham

The house is everything as shown on the website and more!! Downstairs there is an exceptionally clean kitchen, full of everything you may need, a lovely lounge with a wonderful view and a king sized bedroom with a lovely wet room with a shower you never want to leave!! Upstairs there are two further double bedrooms and a large bathroom. There were so many personal touches which added to our stay, including a delicious homemade cake and flowers in each room. We were unable to sit outside because of the constant rain but the house is set up to really appreciate the sunset each evening. Robert is on hand to answer any questions you may have and to help with ideas for places to visit. Suki, his labradoodle, is a beautiful and friendly dog that I really wanted to take home with me!! Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will not hesitate to rebook if we are ever in the area again!

Had a fantastic time staying at the Big Broom Cupboard! Robert and Sylvia were wonderful hosts who were so lovely and friendly and were always around if we needed anything. The house was easy enough to find and spotlessly clean and even arrived to a freshly baked cake which was delicious! Great location overlooking the farmland and in to the distance with some lovely sunsets. So peaceful and secluded with only the occasional mooing of cows. Gorgeous gardens to enjoy too. The house have everything we needed for our weeks stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend and hope to return in the future. Thank you for a lovely stay.

If 5 star is top rating this was 6 star. Exactly as advertised, owners superb and as this was for granddaughters wedding everything was perfect could not have wished for more.

My wife and I chose the property to take my mother who is in her 80s away for a Christmas break. We liked the fact that the property had recently been constructed and had a downstairs bedroom with ensuite bathroom that included a walk in shower, and was recently constructed and had under floor heating. The owners themselves were away at the same time as our visit but made arrangements for us to be welcomed by their friends that were staying in the main building to show us around the property, which has wonderful views of the countryside with a picture postcard pond and stream. The lounge had a Christmas tree with some presents and notwithstanding the wet weather outside the underfloor heating made the property feel warm and cosy throughout our stay. In advance of the booking we communicated several times with the owner in order to ensure that the kitchen had equipment and utensils that would cope with cooking the Christmas dinner. The kitchen did not disappoint including an excellent oven and a dish washer and table for 6. The kitchen was open plan with the lounge which meant that we could cook whilst watching the telly. The utility room, fridge and freezer were well stocked in case you had forgotten anything. We stayed for 4 nights. Fortunately on Christmas day the clouds broke and we had a beautiful bright sunny day. We visited Buckland Abbey, less than 1 mile away, which was the residence of Sir Francis Drake for 15 years, as well as the market town of Tavistock which had a lovely riverside walk. On Boxing Day we also walked part of Drake's trail near Yelverton and returned to the property soaking wet. We would definitely recommend the property and its location. We had a wonderful Christmas and look forward to perhaps returning some day.

We stayed at The Big Barn for two weeks and loved every minute. It is a short drive to the village shops in Yelverton, but you feel like you're tucked away in an idyllic retreat, far from the madding crowds! The barn, itself, is equipped with top quality appliances and finishing touches and the views over the farmland give the added treat of an abundance of birds, wildlife, cows and sheep. Ron and Sylvia are absolutely lovely - they left us to our own devices, but it was great to know they were there if we needed to ask them anything. The homemade sponge and extras awaiting out arrival were greatly appreciated as well. In short, five stars are not good enough for this holiday home - it deserves 10 at least! In fact, we've decided to delay returning home on the planned date and have booked another week at The Big Broom Cupboard!

Beautiful, new and clean property with quality fixtures and fittings. Great WiFi, smart TV’s and appliances. I can’t think of any items this property is lacking, the owners have thought of every possible item you could need on holiday. Wonderful views, and skies. Quiet and peaceful but quickly into the village for shops, petrol, pubs etc. On arrival we were greeted and made to feel welcome. Amazed by fresh flowers from the garden arranged in nearly all the rooms, along with some chocolates and provisions in the fridge. The most amazing homemade fresh cream Victoria sponge was waiting for us along with teacups etc out ready for us. We had privacy but also the reassurance of the owners close by. This all made for a perfect holiday in beautiful Devon. I would highly recommend this property.

Sometimes life allows us little wins. Booking the Broom cupboard was one of those wins. We had already found a suitable property and were all ready to book it. I don't know why, but something made me have one last look. That’s when I found the Broom. As we were the first to book, we had no reviews to read but It looked great and a quick search around the internet showed that at least it did exist. We decided to take the plunge! The Broom cupboard is as you see in the pictures, but more. Although informative, they can't really convey the feel of the property. How could they? All of the properties we’ve rented, and there have been a few, have looked good on a laptop screen. However, this property delivered. Robert and Sylvia met us outside the property and I relaxed immediately. Reviews? Who needs them? This, I felt, was going to be a good week. Entering the property through a small lobby and into the combined Living/dining area we were all taken by the light freshness of the space and the homemade cake with fresh cream and homegrown fruit. I thought I’d mention that. It was outstanding! The floor to ceiling windows, about half of which are folding, cover one wall and fill the room with light. This also affords great views over the countryside towards the distant hills. We had a couple of spectacular rain storms which were quite impressive from inside. First job is always to allocate sleeping quarters. Pops gets the downstairs ensuite room. The facilities for those with limited mobility are good and met his needs completely. My wife and I had the double room upstairs, which I absolutely loved. I really liked the two sitting chairs, where I could spend time reading and pretending to be Ian Fleming. Our ten-year-old had the double room, again complete with some fabulous furniture. Which he completely ignored, obviously. As well as full facilities in the downstairs ensuite shower room, upstairs there is a well specified bathroom with over bath shower and another toilet downstairs. All in all, everything we could have asked for and very clean too. This is a truly lovely property, which we all highly recommend. We wish Robert and Sylvia all the best with their new venture. Oh, one last thing. We weren’t expecting the wifi to be very good as it's often poor in the southwest and I think the description mentions that it’s poor. However, if you want to know how good the wifi is, ask a ten-year-old. ‘Decent’ was the response. We certainly had no complaints

We had a great time in the 'Broom Cupboard', it's very well equipped and very comfortable. The surrounding countryside is beautiful. The hosts are very welcoming and helpful. We highly recommend this property and would love to return here in the future!
