The house was very spacious and had lots of amenities. The yard was perfect for our dog. We enjoyed our stay very much.
The only negatives we encountered were the mosquitoes, bring lots of mosquito repellent and candles or thermacells. They are massive and numerous beyond count. The heat wave didn’t help, I’m sure the lack of ac at any other time of year wouldn’t be a big deal but it was 100 the days we stayed so we felt it. Also, a WiFi extender would be helpful staying in the back bedroom, wouldn’t be a bad idea to have one in my travel bag for such cases. All in all we loved the house and would highly recommend.

Close to Warner Valley for hiking. Terrific kitchen set up with all the needed accessories. Cute little brook in the back garden.

We loved this house. All the amenities you could want. We were very impressed with the well-stocked kitchen! Very family friendly. Great location, close to Lake Almanor and Lassen National Park.

We loved waking up, making a cup of coffee in the beautifully stocked kitchen and heading out on to the front patio to listen to the birds and the sounds of the creek that runs through the front yard. The two downstairs bathrooms are spacious and new, large living room to relax, play games, read and the property is walking distance to Chester and just a short drive to the lake. Also, huge plus, it's a dog friendly spot. We loved staying here. Thank you so much!

Delightfully quirky and comfy
Very well furnished with everything we needed. The children loved exploring the creek. We had a lovely picnic outside.

Great Option
We normally try to stay in a rental on Lake Almanor but that wasn't possible with my brother's dog. We really appreciate the owner's (Ted) flexibility on this as other dog-friendly rentals were much father away from Almanor.
The house was on a block close to downtown Chester, so supermarkets like Holiday and restaurants were nearby. We were a little nervous about the RV park across the street but they were quiet and respectful.
The interior of the house was thoughtfully laid out and came with many amenities in the kitchen and bathrooms. Also some very nice remodeling to the bathrooms including 2 shower heads in the master. The couches in the family/living rooms were very comfortable and easy to fall asleep on! Plus it really felt like a cabin with the knotty pine walls and comfy wood stove (which we only used 1 night).
Also enjoyed the back yard with the small running creek and great panoramic view of the sky. So easy to read a book all afternoon in this serene environment!
Lastly, Ted was an ideal host/owner. Very communicative and helpful when needed which was only a couple of times. Ideal VRBO rental overall.

The house is decorated so eclectic with a cozy cabin feel but with tons of space! My husband and I enjoyed the wood burning fireplace the entire weekend! Can't wait to have another weekend getaway here, maybe when the snow is gone!😊

Cool, funky cabin
Well-appointed house. Close to lake almanor and lassen park. Wi-fi in the house was quite spotty but could just be the area. Lots of the town is closed down in the winter, obviously not the owner’s fault. Just plan on eating in for the most part. Holiday Market is a good place to stock up. The cabin is the nicest on the street. Across the street is an RV park and the house next door is a bit run down. The neighborhood seemed very safe and locals were all very friendly.

Lovely house for a gathering
Beautiful, cozy, charming house. Very clean and comfortable. Great for a family gathering. We appreciated how the kitchen is very well-stocked with all kinds of dishes, utensils, cookware, small appliances, etc. The wood stove does a great job of warming up the house.
Host is very courteous and provided lots of good information about the property.
We had a great time and hope to visit again!

Comfortable and well stocked!
We were very pleased with our winter stay at this comfortable property. Great communication from the owner. Lots of room, a very well stocked kitchen with extra supplies. Plenty of wood is provided for the wood stove. Many games, books and DVD’s to keep us occupied. Reliable wireless internet. Nice quiet streets for walking and a great location close to town. There is a coffee shop and a pizza restaurant just down the street. Beds are very comfortable and there is plenty of comfortable seating for all. We highly recommend this property!

Lovely Home for our Thanksgiving week
This home was warm, comfortable and perfected located near all the hiking trails we needed for our Thanksgiving stay. It also had a well equipped kitchen so we had no problems making a full Thanksgiving meal - needed to bring a few things from home (likes pie pan) but great communications with the owner ahead of time meant we had all we needed. Although the house is located in the midst of a local Chester neighborhood, our neighbors were all friendly/welcoming and we were just a short walk away from a cafe where we got coffee and pastries then could walk with our dogs to a beautiful open field that stretched for miles along the Feather River to the edge of Lake Almanor. Evenings spent relaxing together with the stove going which warmed the entire house (it was in the 20's and 30's) and catching up on Netflix - perfect. We also joined the town on Black Friday evening to welcome Santa in his red fire truck, which our 12 year old loved. Beds were very comfortable, and owner extremely accommodating. A perfect time!!

It provided cozy warmth and the kids loved sitting in front of it and staring into the flames for long periods of time. You would have thought it was a TV with how quiet and still they got.The kids spent at least an hour each day playing in the stream that cuts through the property, which was another great distraction when we weren’t out hiking. While you could stay more central to Lassen Park, we were quite happy being only 30-90 minutes away from all of our day trips. All of the amenities and offerings of the house worked great and we didn’t have any problems. We will definitely consider staying again!

Great family stay
The house is charming and had more than enough space to comfortably accommodate 3 adults and 4 kids. The kitchen has just about every tool you can imagine. The kids loved playing in the side yard with the creek and got a hoot out of turkeys visiting from next door. We stayed in mid-August and the upper bedrooms did get quite stuffy; however, we were able to utilize the provided fans to help cool the rooms. Ted, the host, promptly responds to communications and also gave us advance notice that the power might be shut off due to rolling blackouts (thankfully, it wasn't). We primarily used the home as a base for exploring Lassen Volcanic National Park. The house is closest to the SE park entrance near Juniper Lake.

Rental outside of lassen
Close proximity (30 minutes) to Lassen park. Juniper Lake was a beautiful place to visit but careful as it’s a rough unpaved road to access. Lake Almanor was 15 minutes away for boat / jet ski rental but look into in advance as limited availability with 24 hour notice. Nice time for family get away with great backyard for bocce or croquet. Beds very comfortable and house has nice layout and space.

Quintessential Cabin
Mike, a neighbor with local Chester charm greeted us when we arrived. He was putting the finishing touches on the yard. He lives a few houses down and showed us the bikes we could borrow anytime before I even entered the house. My boy got busy playing with toys on the vast side yard lawn, the Water running through provided him with hours of entertainment. The furnishings inside make you feel like vacation has begun and we all relaxed right away. The master with bathroom en suite is downstairs. The three other bedrooms and half bath are upstairs. The first night my children slept with me in the master. The second night I stayed upstairs until they fell asleep. Be prepared for that, if you travel with kids. Although, I enjoyed the kids in my bed.

Cozy house in a cute town
The house was inviting and cozy with a variety of places to sit, talk, and enjoy the fire. Beds were very comfy and made up perfectly for the cold nights. The middle upstairs bedroom was the cutest thing ever! Highly recommend! The hosts always resonded quickly and they had goodie bags for our pups.

Weekend Getaway
This property was the perfect size and location for my family to attend a weekend wedding in the area. Although we didn’t get to spend much time there, we also loved the little stream running through the yard, and we found the kitchen to be well stocked for those who might be doing some cooking while there. I also found the owner to be very responsive to all emailed questions.

A charming place to stay! Great for the whole family and more!
Ted, the property owner was super accommodating. Due to the weather he allowed us to check in early to beat the terrible roads at night. The house was fully stocked and once the fire was going became super cozy. It’s defnitiy not a modern house. It has a nice rustic charm and history. We all had a great time and hope to come back in the future!

Charming cabin in sleepy town.
We enjoyed some quiet time in snow. The cabin was very clean and orderly with plenty of cooking implements. A short trip to Lk. Almanor and Mt. Lassen. We will stay again.

Wonderful Vacation spot, even in the winter!
We wanted a low key holiday without the fuss and possibly snow. This house was a great home away from home! The kitchen is well-stocked with most every kind of utensil and cooking instruments you could need for a short (or long) vacation. The wood stove worked wonderfully to heat the house, no issues at all with regard to heat in the upstairs bedrooms. The close proximity to Lassen National Park provided us with the deep banks of snow to go sledding with the kids. Would love to spend a summer here to enjoy the Lake and hiking the Volcanic park. The only slight reservation I would have is that it is across the street from a small RV park, not sure how busy/noisy it would get in the summer time. Otherwise, a very well-kept, well-loved home, definitely worth it!

Great vacation rental!
This was the cutest house with a gorgeous back yard with a little stream running through it. Pleanty of space. The kitchen had literally everything you could ask for. Perfect for cooking family dinners. We would definitely book here again.
