Lovely older home with great views of the harbor. Very tastefully decorated. Each bedroom had its own bathroom wich was great for our extended family vacation. Definitely recommended.

It was a wonderful experience. The home was extremely nice, rooms and bathrooms for everyone. We had plenty of room to cook in the kitchen. It was wonderful having a washer and dryer. It was an easy walk to town and close to Arcade. The small towns with charm were very close. Our whole family had a wonderful vacation.

Great location and the property was what you would expect from an elderly home on the Maine coast. The property owners were terrific.

This property was very comfortable for 4 couples. It was nice to be so close to downtown. Southwest Harbor was much easier to navigate compared to Bar Harbor.
We loved working with the home owners who were very accommodating.
Loved Maine and loved this home as our base!

Our group of 11 (age 2-70) stayed here last week and it was great!
It was so convenient to have a bathroom in each bedroom. Some previous reviews mention that the showers in the bedrooms are small. While they definitely are if you are taller, they work just fine! There is a larger bathroom with a taller shower/bath in the hall for anyone who needs more room.
The kitchen has every dish/utensil/pot/pan that you could ever imagine. My only heads up for people with small children, the dishes are all real porcelain/glass. There are a few larger plastic cups but maybe bring some children’s plates with you if your toddler likes to break real ones. The dining area on the porch is massive and fits everyone comfortably.
There is a large laundry room in the basement which was great with so many people and a week of messy outdoor adventures.
This was our family’s second time renting this house, and it will absolutely not be our last. If you are looking for a comfortable, spacious, home away from home for your vacation, this is your place!

There was plenty of space for our party of 11. Kitchen supplies were excellent. Location was tough with a dog because the main street was so busy with cars and no sidewalks. Had a great family vacation.

We were there for a family reunion. Fourteen of us stayed at the property, which had plenty of room for everyone, and 7 bathrooms, which was amazing!

This year 11 of us gathered in Southwest Harbor for our annual family vacation. We want to thank Bob & Karen for sharing their home with us. Plenty of space, well stocked kitchen & very accommodating. We were there the first week of July. Did need the A/C from Wednesday on. My favorite room of the house was the back porch with the large kitchen table. Plenty of space for eating together. Also spent plenty of time there at night playing games. Very short walk to downtown shops. Showers were somewhat small (6 of our guys over 6 ft) but manageable. Small front yard fenced in. No backyard but nice deck with plenty of seating & gas grill. Bob hooked us up with the lobster man. Bob had all the supplies we needed to have our first lobster boil! Great fun & yummy! Overall, great house, great location (convenient to everything) - just a fantastic week of making more family memories!! Thanks again Bob & Karen - The Coffey’s

Our large group of kids, teens, and adults had a fantastic stay at Harbor Watch in Southwest Harbor. The home is just a couple of blocks from the center of town so we could walk in for lunch, dinner, or just ice cream. It's very close to the island's "quiet side" activities like Echo Lake, Bass Harbor, and Wonderland, and just a 20-30 min drive to Bar Harbor and all of the Acadia NP attractions. The owners were very nice, responsive, and helpful. Great time!

What a perfect home for my husband and I to book for a wonderful week in Maine with our 3 children and their families! There was plenty of room for all of us including our 6 grandchildren. We made many happy memories last week in this well-stocked home. Thank you Bob & Karen for making this possible. You were a pleasure to deal with.

Harbor Watch was the perfect size for our family of 13, and a great value considering the number of beds and baths, and the amazing views of the harbor. The dining area offered refreshing breezes and beautiful views, was big enough to comfortably accommodate our large group for meals, with enough room left over for a separate puzzle table.
We loved assembling on the spacious deck for late afternoon cocktails.
The kitchen is well stocked with every possible cooking accroutrement you would ever need - almost to a fault as cupboards and shelves are stocked with dishes and utensils and there isn't a lot of designated area for food storage.
Bob and Karen are a pleasure to work with and were extremely responsive to questions, both before and during our visit.

We fell in love with the place when we say the listing a year ago and signed up immediately. We were not disappointed. The location is ideal, in the midst of a lovely New England town which is not only quaint, but has lots of shops and restaurants, and with a water view. Acadia National Park is all around and is truly magnificent. We had 6 adults and 5 children and there was plenty of room and bathrooms for everyone.

Great stay on MDI’s quiet side
We had a family reunion with seven adults, one ten year old, and a one year old. We loved the location of the property since it was on the quiet side of Mount Desert Island but also within a very short walking distance to Southwest Harbor’s shops and restaurants. We loved the views from the deck and the combination of common and private space. There was plenty of room for us, and having en suite bathrooms in each bedroom helped. The bedrooms were large and most had sitting areas. The kitchen was also well provisioned with appliances, cookware, dishes, and utensils. We would definitely come back!

Lovely Acadian Oasis
I picked this property because of its location on the quiet side of the island and it’s proximity to restaurants and other village amenities. My family loved it! We toured the popular sights in the park on the busy side of the island and returned in the evening to this comfortable oasis. The home contains everything needed for a wonderful family vacation.

Great place to stay in Southwest Harbor
The house was exactly as advertised. There was plenty of space for the family to relax and enjoy time together! Only a short walk from downtown southwest harbor or a 20-30 minute drive to Acadia and many other attractions. The owners were awesome to work with and easy to contact at any point. Overall we had a great stay and would highly recommend!

Great Vacay!
We really enjoyed this property! The house had everything we needed to prepare meals. The layout provided for privacy and togetherness. The view of the harbor was beautiful, although direct access to the water was not allowed. Location to all the area sights was in close proximity. We liked being able to walk to town, but the downside is there is a lot of noise from the traffic if you are a light sleeper. The owners went above and beyond making sure everything was perfect for our stay. We appreciated the small touches they provided like t.p., paper towels, hand soap, foil, syran wrap, trash bags, and a cooler for our daily excursions to Acadia! We loved having a bathroom in each room, but I will mention that the showers are small for a large person. I highly recommend this rental. Thanks, Bob and Karen

Great place for a family vacation
This rental was great for a large extended family. Everyone had their own bed and bath. The dining table seats 12, which enabled us all to eat together as well. We liked staying on the "quiet side", and the ability to walk to some local places (e.g. stores and the marina). Overall a fantastic week in Maine. It would be an improvement to have a better electronic locking system in place to eliminate the key coordination.

Excellent property
The property was very comfortable and even better than we expected. We were seven adults and three children, and everyone in our group from the one year old to the 85 year old found everything that they needed and more. The owners were also extremely welcoming and helpful during the check-in process.

Fabulous location
The property is in a great location, the only downfall is that the common area is not air conditioned, but it’s only needed on those really humid days…however, I noticed no one really has AC in Acadia. The rooms were comfortable otherwise and fit everyone perfectly. Very conveniently located a short walk in town and 30 min drive to Bar Harbor. Robert& Karen were wonderful hosts and very responsive with any needs we had.

Family Trip to Acadia
Loved our stay in SW Harbor. Comfortable beds, lots of bathrooms, cooking in the kitchen with the ocean breezes and view was special. Enjoyed walking to town and access to so many great hikes, restaurants, shops on the quiet side. More yard space for kids to play would have been nice but we did love the playground we found at the school in town and that was great.

Awesome family vacation
At the last minutes, we finally found this house available for the week we planned to have a vacation at Acadia National Park. Since it indicates the house can have 16 people and our family only have 6 in total, it seems too large to us. But we still decided to take it before it’s gone. So we had a wonderful time there. The house is nice and clean. Can oversee the Harbor. The house owners Bob and Karen were so nice to give us all the details before we got there. They also sent the umbrellas to us on the first raining day since we forgot to bring any and didn’t know where to buy it. This is the first time we have been in southwest Harbor. It’s much quieter and relaxing than Bar Harbor . It’s also very close to Acadia national park. We love it. Thanks a lot to Karen and Bob for letting us rent the house. We will definitely consider to rent it again in the future if we plan to visit Maine again.

Southwest Harbor Family Vacation
Bob and Karen were a pleasure to work with. Their home is spacious and well-appointed. They are a wealth of knowledge about the area. The home is located close to Acadia. We had easy access to hiking, swimming, and, of course, sunrise at Cadillac Mountain! It was the perfect family vacation!

Great place by bar harbor
This property was great. We came with teenage kids, moms and everyone had their own space. Being in southwest harbor was a treat too. Walkable to the town, shops and restaurants. You can rent bikes and ride around. It was really great. The kitchen was great for cooking with the family. And loved the porch, we could eat as a family and play games. Bob and Karen were great hosts and reached out multiple times if we needed anything and to confirm we were enjoying our stay. Great place!!!

This is a great house with plenty of room for everybody. Bob and Karen were readily accessible and very helpful during our stay. Great location in Southwest Harbor and much more relaxing than the very busy and chaotic Bar Harbor.

Southwest Harbor ME
Convenient location but also on a very busy road. Well stocked kitchen and all appliances were in working order. Air conditioning from window units only in the bedrooms so unfortunately the rest of house gets quite warm. Nice back deck that accommodated 8-10 easily and was away from road noise offering the main water view. Some of the beds were quite hard. Upholstered furniture in the main sitting area was quite old and no longer supportive. Nice washer and dryer in the basement. The area was amazing and we had a great stay overall.

An Amazing Place for Family to Enjoy Maine!
This was all of our first time to Maine - a family of 14 ages three years to 65! First, I can't say enough about Rob and Karen - they answered my questions beforehand as we wondered where to shop, what COVID restrictions were, etc. They were great! As we drove onto the island, and got closer to Southwest Harbor, we were delighted with the New England charm; the bays, the little shops, the villages. Southwest Harbor is small, but has a few restaurants, several gift shops that were really nice (not junky tourist), coffee shops and an ice cream shop! It is only a block from the house, and when weather permitted the teenagers loved walking into town for a coffee - we felt very comfortable with the safety!
The house is not directly on water, but we did not find that to be a problem - we sat outside on the raised porch with tea and watched the tide come in and out. From Florida, we are familiar with tides but these were so dramatic it was amazing!
Each of our four grown children and their spouses loved having a quaintly decorated bedroom and private bathroom (and my husband and I enjoyed the Captain's Quarters on the main floor). The teenage girls were ecstatic to take over the trundle beds directly off the kitchen, and close to the snacks! At first we thought we might be a bit crowded, but as it turned out we all felt it was perfectly cozy for the family to be together, and we had no problem in the well stocked kitchen with movable islands preparing meals!
Great big washers and dryers in the basement, and more room to spread out but we didn't feel the need.
The long tables in the back dining area seated all of us at the same time, and the large windows gave us unobstructed views of the harbor! We ate meals, enjoyed coffee and facetime, and played a lot of family games!
We didn't need much when we were there, but the couple of calls we made to the hosts were answered promptly - and they were super friendly!
Re: COVID travel - almost everywhere we went masks are not required if fully vaccinated. I would strongly suggest calling ahead before going out to eat, we ran across several places that had closed :(
Loved wandering Bar Harbor - the bookstore is the oldest in Maines and delightful, high marks for Geddys for seafood (and all food). Definitely Cadillac Mountain and Thunder Hole; and visit Jordan's Pond for dining on the back lawn with an incredible view!!!
Thanks for sharing this terrific place with us - we highly recommend it!

Friends adventure trip
Home owners are wonderful. They were quick to answer any questions that we had. The location was perfect. We could walk to restaurants and shops and the home had a well stocked kitchen where we did fix lobsters, fish chowder and baked a couple of pies. We went out to Thurstons near Bass Harbor for sea food as well. Sea kayaking at Maine State kayak right in Northwest Harbor. There are many trails close by and the scenery was spectacular. Would definitely recommend this property for your larger groups!

Perfect Fit
My family enjoyed a wonderful week in Southwest Harbor at Bob and Karen’s house. We loved being able to walk into town for groceries, bakery goods, rental bikes and dining out. The house was comfortable and spacious. We had plenty of room to play games, relax on the deck, prepare meals and sit and converse. The mattresses were great. The weather was just right for hiking and biking in the park. Bob and Karen were thoughtful, considerate hosts. They gave us good pre-trip advice and information. Overall it was a super visit....Just too short.

Lovely Home for Family Reunion Week
Our family of 10 had a wonderful family reunion in Maine with the charming, spacious and well-equipped Harbor House as our home base.
We especially appreciated the space and privacy the home affords while also having multiple rooms for gathering and relaxing together. We ate out on the deck or at the long dining table, gathered in the roomy kitchen while preparing meals (including baking a birthday cake!), and had fun watching movies together every evening in the comfortable living room. We also took advantage of the expansive laundry room in the basement.
The home’s location makes it easy to walk into town for a morning coffee and pastry or to one of the restaurants. We enjoyed the nearby walk down to Clark Point and Biel’s Lobster tour, and we took the free shuttle or drove into to Acadia, which we explored at least 4 or 5 of the seven days.
We took advantage of the great kayaking outfit only about a 15 min walk from the house (an amazing half day on the water seeing bald eagles soaring, porpoises leaping, and seals bobbing). We also walked to a nearby museum of bird carvings on the sole rainy morning of the week. The location is great - we were very happy not to be staying in touristy Bar Harbor.
The owners, Bob and Karen, were helpful, friendly, informative, organized and gracious. They went out of their way to make our week special, and we’ll remember this trip and home always.
