The couple’s retreat is a charming getaway. Immaculately clean. Private outdoor shower, grill, hot tub and gazebo. Beach chairs, umbrella and bikes provided. We loved being within walking and biking distance from the beach, Currituck Sound and Duck! We highly recommend staying here!!!

Again for the owner- We had to change our vacation plans when we were in route. I think it would have been appropriate to give a reduced rate because in incurred additional expenses.

This place lives up to its reviews! Beautifully decorated, gorgeous outdoor patio and private hot tub. There is also beach access and it’s close to some great dining and shops in Duck. Some reviews mentioned the mattress was uncomfortable but we found it to be just fine. We hope to be back next year.

Overall, we were pleased with the property except for the mattress. The mattress is extremely soft, so much so that when you get into the bed, you sink down six inches or more, almost all the way to the bed frame. Sleeping was very uncomfortable, especially because we're 32 weeks pregnant. Reading the guest book, many other couples have commented that the mattress needs to be replaced. If the mattress were better, we would have given this place 5 stars. It was exceptionally clean, the shower was excellent. There's also an outdoor shower to rinse off after being at the beach. The property is located midway between the sound side and ocean side. The hot tub and outdoor area are not shared with anyone else, which was a nice surprise, although we did not use the hot tub. There's no oven or stove, but there is a two burner hot plate, toaster oven, toaster, blender, etc. One amenity we would have appreciated is a welcome binder with recommendations for places to eat (only a few places do take-out food, and hardly any offer online ordering -- something to consider during the pandemic), things to do, etc. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and we'd consider coming back but only if the mattress is replaced.

Perfecto!
We really enjoyed our first time in Duck! Can’t wait to return. Couples retreat was perfect for just me and my husband. We loved that bikes were included as well as the hot tub and took much advantage! The only thing that I can say we didn’t love was the bed. It was uncomfortable but not a deal breaker. Thnx again for letting us stay.

Couples Retreat is a wonderful spot for an Outer Banks getaway. The apartment has everything you need. The beach and sound access is very easy and convienient. And it's close to the heart of Duck and some terrific restaurants.

Hot tub under the stars
One of the highlights of our trip to Duck (on a trip filled with highlights) was our stay at the "couples retreat". We loved the hot tub under the stars at night!

Like the other reviews have said great place, super clean and great hosts. We enjoyed our 3 night getaway. Perfect place for a couple. This place is close to downtown Duck. This was our first time to the area. It is well worth the visit.
I can say enough about the place. Everything is well maintained, host communication was awesome. You can’t go wrong staying here!

It is close enough to town to bike (two provided) or even walk (20 minutes). You can walk to the sound within five minutes and to the ocean within 10. Two beach chairs and an umbrella are provided. While the apartment is small, it is immaculately clean and tastefully decorated. The outdoor space, complete with covered seating area and bar, in addition to a hot tub and two chaise lounge, is a delightful for breakfast and en evening drink or dinner. While the kitchen has no oven or stovetop, there is a two-element hot plate that is more than adequate, as well as a gas bbq. All in all, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better place in which to escape the hustle and bustle of Duck.

We had a lovely stay at the Couple's Retreat. It had everything you'd need - bicycles, beach chairs, beach umbrella, tennis rackets, hot tub. The small kitchen had a coffee machine (keurig), hot plate, microwave, and toaster oven - so, while it doesn't have an oven or stovetop, you can still prepare meals as needed. There were plastic cups, as well - handy for the hot tub. And the TVs had Netflix (and Hulu, I believe). Side note: I recommend checking to see if the movie Brainstorm, with Christopher Walken, is available to stream - it was filmed in NC, including at the Wrights Brothers Memorial!

Usually, outdoor showers at beach houses are a bit rusty and have cobwebs in the corners, but not this one! It must've been recently powerwashed, because it was super clean. The entire outside area was very clean, as well.
The only thing the place could use is more hooks for towels, swimsuits, and the occasional clothing item to air out. But other than that small detail, the place was perfect. Can't wait to go back!

This was our first time visiting the outer banks and we stayed at the cleanest place on the island. Very nicely decorated and the patio area was lovely. Hot tub provided some much needed relaxation. I do wish this rental would relocate to the ocean side of Hwy 12. Thank you, Janis, for offering this place, which allowed us a wonderful vacation.

This was our first time visiting the outer banks and we stayed at the cleanest place on the island. Very nicely decorated and the patio area was lovely. Hot tub provided some much needed relaxation. I do wish this rental would relocate to the ocean side of Hwy 12. Thank you, Janis, for offering this place, which allowed us a wonderful vacation.

Really beautiful, simple and stylish set up. The hot tub, outdoor area and shower are amazing. The dock you have access to in the neighborhood is a huge bonus, perfect for sunsets. Great deal for those that don't need much and just want to relax, explore on some bikes, hang out.

This was the cleanest place I’ve ever rented. Very updated and has all the amenities you could want. The hot tub was fantastic. Easy walk to beach and sound and pleasant longer walk to Duck shops The only downside was the foot traffic noise from the owner and family upstairs. This was probably worse during the pandemic because everyone is working and schooling from home. And it wouldn’t prevent me from staying again. Really great place overall.
