Sweet Hills Farm Guesthouse: A Rural Retreat Minutes from Town

It was an excellent choice and a great discovery! The hosts were wonderful - very responsive and easy to deal with. The directions were spot on...even with trying to find our way at 230am...lol
The cabin was perfect for the 4 of us and could have easily held more people! It was squeaky clean and the water pressure was amazing!!! (The beds wer comfortable also.)
I would definitely stay again - in fact, its certain since my boys decided on MU!

We had a great time. The house is very relaxing and peaceful. I loved all of the decor. There were trails we could walk on. We really just had a chance to soak up nature. The house was located off the main road it felt like you were a 100 miles from town, but in reality stores were only maybe 10-15 minutes away at the most. It was the perfect place to reconnect with my adult children for a Mother’s Day weekend. The host Amy was very accommodating and very easy to contact if we needed anything. I would for sure rent this property again.

You may only be 10 minutes from the CoMO Mall, but this is backwoods. A covered bridge, a gravel mega hill, slowing down for escaped chickens. It is WONDERFUL!!
House has great heat, a completely workable kitchen and a real bathroom. All kinda surprising for a cabin in the woods.

We came for family weekend at Mizzou. This was a great option and we enjoyed getting out of town. The house is very cozy and beds comfortable. Loved the quiet of the location to relax. Easy to get to from town.

Amy and Mike have created a sweet slice of heaven. Our experience at Sweet Hills Farm was filled with ease, attentive communication, and beautiful surroundings. In between family get-togethers and hangouts with old friends, my family and I spent time in the SHF guesthouse making dinners, playing games, exploring the property’s trails, and studying the birds, bugs, and butterflies we encountered. The home was fresh and clean, beautifully decorated, and equipped with all of our basic home comforts. This home is the perfect place to unplug from your usual routines, read a good book, slow down, settle in, and enjoy the view.

Very Quant
We had a wonderful time relaxing, talking, eating, playing games and doing crafts. It was just as expected. The coffee pot shut off a few times before finishing so we just turned it back on. I may have just done it wrong. The only trouble we had really was with the couch. It was difficult to get up from. We had an elderly one and a heavy lady that really struggled. I didn’t realize we. Resend to bring chairs to sit on the front porch but I should have thought of that. These are things we just dealt with because we had such a good time. I would love to go in the winter when there was snow!

A little place in heaven!
If you’re looking for a little getaway (but not too far away!), there’s a darling little cottage right next to a beautiful pecan grove, just 15 minutes north of Columbia. Plenty of hiking, a visit to a great farmer’s market (that furnished our Saturday night dinner), fire pit, Shakespeare’s takeout, Sequence, wine/charcuterie, reading, naps… a nice way to kick off the summer. We will be to back for the changing leaves in the fall!
Amy was very responsive and accommodating, the house was well-appointed and clean- it was exactly what we were looking for!
One quick, insignificant note- the house description noted that a French press was available, but it’s no longer in the house. We brewed coffee and were just fine; just wanted anybody who might be French press coffee drinkers like us to know to bring your own press!

Relaxing Getaway
This cabin was the cutest little place for our family to stay! It was tucked back in the woods, it was so quiet and perfectly decorated. I would highly recommend staying here if you love the outdoors and the peace and quiet!

Beautiful country setting
Beautiful country setting. Six family members stayed there. It would be a wonderful setting for a personal retreat. Quite remote. Driveway is very long. Interesting well tended property with chickens, sugar barn(for making maple syrup) and gardens. Was the perfect place for my family, including my parents who are in their 90's.

Quiet Country Location
Great little place away from the city. Very clean, plenty of space, very quiet. A small taste of farm life still within 15 minutes of all the amenities Columbia has to offer.

Fantastic!
The property was fantastic! Clean, cozy, and Amy was ultra responsive!
I was a bit concerned with a loft lay out, but with a bedroom upstairs, downstairs, and a shared sleeping space - it was great!
Highly recommend and definitely will be booking again for future tournaments at MU.

It’s easy to enjoy your stay
The house is in a lovely location with beautiful views and walks — including a great front porch for star gazing at night or listening to the owls. The house has a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and a nice spacious living room. It is easy to be comfortable and to enjoy your stay. Check-in and out were easy.

Quiet cabin nestled north of Columbia
If need to unplug, this quiet cabin nestled in the country north of Columbia will be a good choice. More clarity is needed in the actual location since it is surrounded by pasture and requires traveling on gravel to rock roads in order to arrive to the home. The inside of the home is fairly accurate to the photos; but, the grounds and exterior have not been kept up. We did have a great night sleep as incredibly quiet and great area to unplug.

Perfect spot!
I was happy we arrived just before dark! The directions were spot on and helped immensely.
This is a beautiful, serene spot. The fall colors were spectacular. We had no issues during our stay and the owner was a joy to work with.
Highly recommend!

Short but sweet
We ended up having to cut our visit short for personal reasons but the one evening we stayed was lovely. Clean cabin and comfortable beds - amazing view out the windows.

Great getaway
This place was exactly what we were looking for. A nice private place close to town. We stayed 5 nights and 6 days. Wildlife was everywhere, fire pit, porches on both sides of the house to sit and enjoy. We spoke with one of the owners and another family member and they were great. If you're looking for a private getaway in the area, this is it

Great place to unplug!
The whole family enjoyed the remote feel of the property despite being only a few minutes from town. We made good use of the Columbia Farmer's Market, but otherwise were content to stay put for 3 days. The kitchen is well appointed and even prettier than the pictures. The owners were great at anticipating need and easy to reach if necessary. Highly recommended!

An Picturesque and Perfect Guesthouse near CoMo!
We enjoyed an absolutely perfect stay at the Sweet Hills Farm Guesthouse during my daughter's Mizzou graduation weekend! It's located in a picturesque rural setting with mature forests, hiking trails, wildlife, and a pecan grove... yet just minutes to Mizzou campus and downtown CoMo. (We thought it was the best of both worlds!) The guesthouse is beautifully outfitted with a great kitchen, updated bath, comfy beds and linens, and a fantastic open layout that gave our family room to gather, play cards, cook and relax. Great wrap-around deck, firepit and Weber charcoal grill too! Our host Amy was incredibly responsive and thoughtful. We look forward to returning for a fall football weekend, and recommend the Sweet Hills Farm Guesthouse 110% and without hesitation!

Beautiful wooded 70 acre property with 2 miles of trails!
My sister and I needed a change of scene during her spring break. Although Sweet Hills Farm Guesthouse is only 20 minutes from downtown Columbia, we felt like we were far removed from urban life. The house is spacious and very comfortable.

Quiet Getaway with plenty to do.
The property is exactly as listed. It is a refurbished cottage nestled among forested hills and rolling meadow. The hiking trails were rugged enough to be enjoyable, but not too difficult for even a beginner. We went fishing every day in the small pond a short walk from the house, and caught nice sized bluegill and bass.
The owners were easy to get ahold of and help with anything we needed. And the property itself is not far from town.
Things to note:
1)The property is not far from town; however, the roads to the property are winding country roads. Beautiful during the day; and little hairy at night if you’re not familiar with that sort of driving.
2) There is no T.V.. This fact is in the description of the property, I just wanted to remind you. If you need screen time, the wifi is very very fast.

Thanksgiving Trip
House has everything you need, fire pit, BBQ , hiking trails.
Close enough to town to do things downtown but far enough away where you don’t have people right on top of you. Would definitely use it again.

Amazing Getaway in Central Missouri
Our stay exceeded our expectations. The cabin and property were more beautiful that the pictures! The property was amazing. The trails in the woods were awesome. The proximity to Columbia and Jefferson City was just what we were looking for. We really enjoyed our stay!

Amazing property
The property is a piece of heaven in rural Missouri but located at only 15 minutes from everything in Columbia. The decoration is out of a magazine, the views are incredible, beds are comfortable, everything was squeaky clean, and owner is very responsive. Keep in mind that you need a solid car to do the last couple of miles on a steep rural road. My Subaru Legacy did great but I was happy I wasn't driving my son's small Toyota Corolla.

Great spot to get away
We had a great time, away from everything. Lots of hiking trails to explore, a pond, fire pit area and the hosts were great.
