Overall we loved our stay and visiting with each other. There are 100+ steps to the dock, so some of our older folks couldn't go down to it which was disappointing - pictures don't really show the full amount of stairs. Those of us who went down to the dock really loved being so near the lake - some even did some paddle boarding.
There were plenty of beds - sometimes the beds overtook the room (ie. not much room for moving around in some of the rooms).
Though we knew going in, there isn't much dining seating inside for a large group (and we had rain). There were plenty of dishes and pots and pans for our crowd.
I contacted the 'property manager' via text and didn't get a reply. The upper bed of the bunk in the loft has no way to access it (unless you can lift a child up onto it). The property manager sent me an email/message indicated he never heard this before. Maybe others just didn't need to use it. But we had planned to use it, so one person was on the couch (instead of doubling up full size adults in a double bed). That upper bed needs a ladder to access from the side of the bed (as there is no room on the ends). Once in the top bunk anyone would not be able to even sit up (lie down only). Very deceiving in picture.
The upper bunk bed in the lower level was very wobbly so we had to move it against the wall to make sure it wouldn't wobble all night. It could use some 'tightening'.

Me and my family stayed here over the weekend August 22-26! The lake water was very warm to swim in! We all had a very good time and had plenty of space for the 10 of us! We would definitely stay again!

We had a lovely time at Jolly Mon 7/6-7/13/2024. Everything as described. Wonderful cabin and dock! Thank you!

The Jolly Mon was exactly as advertised and very clean! We had a great trip, plenty of space for 16 adults and had no issues with the property itself. Looking forward to booking again!

This is the 2nd time I’ve had the joy of staying at Jolly Mon. The house was as advertised, and there’s been some upgrades as well since the last time I was there. All the amenities worked well, had a very lovely week. Thank you!

We brought our family which included 9 adults and 7 grandkids under 7. We had plenty of room to spread out. We were able to cook meals and eat together when we used the outdoor seating as well as the indoor. We appreciated the covered dock and the quiet cove to swim and paddle board in. Boating on the lake is always amazing with great water-skiing water. The hot tub was a nightly event after all the kiddos were in bed. The owner was very responsive and even helped recover a computer cord that we accidently left behind. Overall a great place to stay. Many memories were made!

We enjoyed this property!! The lake off the dock is in the perfect location. The view from the house is spectacular. Clean and calm water, who could ask for more?
5.0
We loved the location of the house back in the cove, which allowed our kids to swim without being rocked by waves and to feel like we had a little private slice of the lake. The dock was great for our boats and for swimming and fishing from. The house had plenty of rooms and beds for our large group. Plenty of cookware for all of your meals and space to spread out. We loved being able to hang out on the decks in the morning for coffee and evening listening to the sounds of nature. There were a few of the deck chairs that were a bit unstable, so bringing some of your own chairs is not a bad idea. Also, LOTS of stairs (100+) which we don’t mind because we like the exercise but be aware that older or more unstable members of your party may need a golf cart (there’s a golf cart path and not sure if somewhere rents carts, but the path is perfect for a morning stroll). Would definitely stay again.

Great accommodations in house minus a few quirks.
We had a great time the space was there, the necessities were there. It was a short drive to town so that was good. A few things to change would definitely be the hot tub maintenance, it went out more times to count and in the cold weather we couldn't use the hot tub which was a big selling point. Also the trash situation was not ideal. We spent Christmas there and had way more trash then the allotted cans could aquire so there was alot of bags stacked. A couple of beds were rigged together and couldn't be used because they would fall through. Couches and carpets could use a cleaning but not to the point we couldnt use. I don't wanna harp on everything bad because overall we would stay again and had a wonderful time but coming blind with so many people we would've wanted it to be perfect as advertised. There was so many great qualities that made our trip wonderful but to improve for the next person I would focus on these things.

Great location and fun for family
Great cabin and renting the pontoon from Norris lake water was do coinciden convenient with the drop off and pick up delivery there! Furnishings are older but we knew that from the reviews. My family had a great time there. But heed all the reviews about the stairs they were a. Workout

Beautiful scenery
This was a family vacation; my husband and myself along with our three adult children their spouses and a total of eight grandchildren. The kids absolutely enjoyed the lake, boating and the JetSki. We had a few issues with in the house but reached out to John and he was able to fix one. The kitchen is well equipped for making large family meals. A few of the beds were broken that I did report. We had a wonderful time and made great memories, many of the kids went hiking, and visited different towns along with the zoo and the titanic. I will mention there are a lot of steps to get down to the lake. The steps are safe and secure just very long, and all of the lights are burned out so it is not safe to go down at night.

Very disappointed; spent much of our vacation time addressing multiple issues with this unit
Let me start by saying we loved the lake and surrounding area, it was absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, our experience with Jolly Mon was very frustrating due to constant issues throughout our stay.
Within the first hour after check in, my nephew nearly fell down the steep stairs between the cabin and lower cart path when one of the stairs collapsed.
The stove sparked the first day we turned it on to make breakfast and blew out the electricity to the entire house. We were initially told to reset the fuse and use an electrical double burner to cook, which is completely unacceptable for a rental holding 19 people.
It was clear that no one vacuumed the upstairs rooms and one of the bunk beds had a pee stain on it.
Several bed frames were loose/broken.
The stove was replaced, the stair was fixed, and 2 bed frames were fixed fairly quickly, however this added stress to our trip as we had to continually contact the maintenance guy.
The most frustrating problem though was the air conditioners. The upstairs unit stopped working everyday, the first three days, then lower A/C unit broke on the fourth day. You cannot make this stuff up. We have stayed at many VRBO units and have never had so many issues.
We had over 50 text messages exchanged with Chad the maintenance guy related to all of the problems and our entire family of 19 knew his name.
There were only 9 towels available for a unit claiming to sleep 28, the Kuerig was broken, there were rotten boards on the deck, the carpet throughout is stained and filthy, three of the outdoor chairs were broken, and the handle on the sliding glass door from the dining room snapped off in my 10-year-old niece’s hand. Overall, the decks are very worn and in need of replacement boards, a good power washing, and fresh paint. We spent hours communicating about these problems including explaining in great detail what was going on… all while trying to enjoy our vacation.
The owner was responsive while this was all happening but when we summarized all of the problems after our stay we unfortunately had no response.

Location is everything!
This property was exactly as listed and reviews were spot on. This is an older house that needs a little TLC. The first floor bedroom and bathroom were very nice. The basement bedrooms were nice along with the bathroom. The upstairs rooms were hard to keep cool. My granddaughters took the top room with the bunks and ended up on the couches because it was to hot and musty smelling. The description says the house sleeps 23 but that would be pushing it. We had 13 and it was just right. There is room for 23 people to sleep but the rooms are small. The WIFI was great, the kitchen was well stocked , all appliances worked well. The bathtubs have slow drains. The dock and fire pit were awesome. The hot tub also awesome. Parking was no problem. The carpet definitely needs to be replaced. The house is priced right and it is a great location on the lake and very close to Sugar Hollow Marina. We would go back.

Family birthday
Property was sufficient for all our family. Lots of stairs, going to lake not a problem for us but could be for someone that had difficulty climbing stairs. Could use more bath and hand towels. Overall a nice place to stay.

Several beds needed repaired. Stove was a burner short. Could have use a good cleaning. Carpet needs replaced. No lights in back of house to get down steps.would have been nice to know a golf cart rental was available for elderly.overall house somewhat rundown. Would not rent again.

Christmas gifts to our parents, children & grandkids
We had a good time even though it rained every day. It was great to be together. Played games and watched movies together when we couldn’t be in the water. I asked the manager for the Adirondack chairs and he bought them and brought them to us that day -which was very kind.
The hot tub was amazing!
There were some questions that I could only get general answers to. I will list specifically for others who may be wondering.
There was a coffee pot AND a Keurig. There was a crockpot, 9x13 casserole dish, & a cutting mat for vegetables.
None of the showers had bathmats or rugs to get out on. We had to use our towels for that. It was scary for elderly to try to get out of a tub. That was the only improvement I could think of.
Enjoy your stay here. We had a great time and made many memories that will last the rest of our lives!

Thanksgiving
Our family lost our father this past year. Since we all live in different areas our goal at Thanksgiving was to "keep" us all together. This cabin was large enough that everyone had a bed (so that was great). The property manager was great. Every time I had a question I was promptly answered. Bedding was supplied, however we had to make all the beds up when we arrived. Sheets were just folded and in each room so that for sure took some time. If you are staying I would recommend that you take some extra towels. They do supply towels, however, not enough for a large group. I think the cabin would be a blast in the summer when you can enjoy the Lake. So.....take some family and friends this summer and have a great time!!

Long weekend with family
Property was very clean, easy to access. One issue is that the 6th "bedroom" was really more like a crows nest with bunkbeds, no door and it was very hot sleeping in there. Some of the beds needed some repair slats broken on ladder of bunk bed, 2 other beds the wood slats that supports the bed were broken so it sunk. Recliner leg rest was broken. Not enough towels says there were 5 per bathroom but that was not the case. Minor things, would stay there again location and cleanliness were a positive.

John was very helpful during our booking and stay. We had a great time with a large group of friends. Thanks

Great rental for large family
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was great for a large crowd and the kitchen was very well stocked and had enough dishes, utensils and cookware to easily cook for the large crew we had. Yes, the stairs are a bear. Consider it your exercise during your stay. If someone in your group has mobility issues, the stairs may prove too challenging. But we all did just fine.

Great property to rent from! Kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. Clean bedrooms. Nice dock. Fun time had by all.

Great for large family
Brought my large family of 22 together for a week of fun at the lake. House was as listed, very accommodating for our large crew of 6 families, dock was great. A few loud partying neighbors but can't control that. Would be careful about leaving things on the dock overnight. My son and son in law had about 8 fishing rods stolen out of their boat overnight but otherwise, everything was great!

Had a Great Time
Nice property. Well-furnished, great appliances and and very spacious. I read reviews about the number of steps, but found this property to be easy compared to others I have rented. They were not too steep, they are well-maintained and relatively few in number. Only thing I'd recommend is that the carpet could use a good cleaning in the high traffic areas but being the end of the season, I am sure it's in the works. Overall it was a great experience.

Labor Day Weekend
The property was well-suited to our needs. There was plenty of sleeping space and bathroom facilities. The pictures made the kitchen seem bigger than it actually was and we cook a lot so sometimes we had too many cooks and not enough kitchen. The nice adirondak chairs shown in the picture were not available but when we called, someone brought chairs in a timely manner. We had not brought but a couple since it looked like there were some there. The dock and swim area were very nice. The neighborhood was fine but parking was an issue so we used over-flow parking. One of our vans drug in the ruts in the road. This was not the property owner's fault, just a complication of being "in nature". The property was clean except for the living room carpet but it was nothing a good shampoo would not take care of. We had a great time and would come again. Some kind of lighting at the firepit would have been great but we did fine without it. The hot tub was clean and a big hit!

Lots of beds & steps!
Great family vacation at the Jolly Mon!! Loved swimming off the dock and the it was easy to find by road and by boat. We had 22 people, ages 18 months to 60 years, a couple of nights and everyone had a bed to sleep in. Kitchen space was limited so serving food for that many folks was a challenge. When booking we didn't realize just how many steps there were up from the dock to the house. Once you made it up, you really hesitated to go back down. Also found a lot of the outside lights had burned out so all the steps in the dark were dangerous.
AC unit for the upstairs quit working one night but the caretaker was there within minutes of our call. He got the AC working and replaced the burned out light bulbs.
Thanks for a great week at the lake and the countless family memories made!

Very comfortable space with lots to offer!
The property was very well managed! Everything was neat and clean and felt very welcoming/homey! We had 15 with us with plenty of room. Never felt cramped or on top of each other. Close enough to town if anything is forgotten, but secluded enough to feel like a movie. Would be great to visit in the summer. Recommend Jolly Mon cabin to everyone!

Such a fun place!
You definitely get a nice leg workout in from walking up and down the steps to the dock, but besides that we absolutely loved the Jolly Mon Lakefront cabin! It was plenty spacious enough for our crew of about 18 people and everything was very nice and comfortable for our weekend away. The location is perfect as well! Close to the "jumping bridge" and the dock is in a no wake zone letting you swim around the dock no problem! The dock was very spacious also so were were able to all hang around the water.
We were provided instructions, maps, tips and ideas from the owner that made our trip that much easier. I would gladly stay at Jolly Mon again anytime.

Restful and Fun
This is a nice property and very comfortable. A few minor improvements and this will be the perfect place. The Jacuzzi smelled like urine so it could not be used. The elements on the grill should be cleaned so that the grill works properly. Great place to relax and enjoy the lake.

Large home, great location and dock.
Wonderful week in TN. First time at Norris Lake and it was memorable. Great location to stay. Very few issues: The upstairs A/C was on the blink and maintenance man was VERY quick to respond. Also it would have been nice to have power at the dock. Last drawback to the rental, the internet is essentially unusable at this home. Texting is poor as well. So if work is necessary to get done while your on vacation, plan to go into La Follette and use the Coffee shop's WIFI. The boat ramp is very steep, but launching and loading went well. Overall, the week was great and I would highly recommend the home for rental.

Jolly Mon was an awesome place. We had 16 people staying here and had plenty of room. It is very cozy, warm an inviting place. The house was very well stocked with all you kitchen and bath needs. It was like being at your own home. It has a very nice covered dock for your use and a hot tub that our kids were in every night. Love this place!

I can't begin to say how much we enjoyed our visit! This beautiful home was spotless upon our arrival and with four adults and ten kids we had plenty of room to spread out and relax. Could not have asked for more! We would definitely recommend the Jolly Mon to anyone who wants to enjoy the beauty and quiet of Tennessee.
