A propos de ce maisonrental
19th c. Barn in the Berkshires

Lovely location and renovated barn accommodations. Those sleeping in the common area must go through a bedroom to access the bathrooms. Sound carries easily from the common room to the small bedroom with new bath as it is not a fully enclosed space. Care must be exercised in leaving the large bedroom as the doorway is short and you might hit your head (this happened several times). Be aware of a step down into the living area from the entrance door, is not marked. One bathroom is very narrow if you are tall(6ft or more), it is a little awkward to use the toilet. The shower is very nice, curbless, and has radiant floor heat.
No microwave but does have a toaster oven.

Beautifully refurbished barn. Retains plenty of rustic charm while still being comfortable. Super easy 20 minutes to Jiminy Peak ski resort. Kitchen has everything you could need except a microwave. Bathrooms with showers are adequate but not places to linger or luxuriate. Bathroom in front of house was very dark throughout our stay - could benefit from enhanced lighting. Nice bookshelf to browse. Wireless was hit or miss but Verizon cellular signal was decent. The hosts have curated a very thoughtful “off the grid” spot for guests who want to experience rustic - but not too rustic - charm.

We so enjoyed our stay in the barn. It was so comfortable and spacious - we ended up just hanging out more than we thought we would. There were many cute and thoughtful details - the lighting, decorations and, of course, a 1/2 dozen eggs from the farm. It's a quick drive to Mt. Greylock, North Adams, Mass MOCA and many restaurants. Couple things to know - there are no curtains on the windows so it's very bright, no TV and the bathrooms are located in each of the bedrooms. While this was not an issue for our family, it's just good to understand the layout. Would definitely recommend and hoping to get back there in the near future...

This meticulously renovated barn is beautiful, cozy, and fun to stay in! The beds and leather furniture are very comfy, towels fluffy and the overall property lovely. Enjoyed visiting the sheep (especially sweet Eloise!) and having freshly laid eggs from Mason Hill’s own hens for breakfast. The brook and waterfalls are soothing to see and hear and the cemetery next door provided a peaceful place to walk daily. The hosts, Jane and Ian, are friendly and helpful, yet totally unobtrusive. Would highly recommend!

We loved this visit! Very cute house with plenty of space for our group. We loved being able to explore the creek and say hello to the animals. Would definitely recommend!

6 adults in our family and one 18 month old. Plenty of room for all of us. Adorable setting and outdoor space. We ate outside the 1st 2 nights after taking long local hikes. The kitchen table with benches is huge; so we all fit to eat and play card games. Besides the sheep out the window, my granddaughter saw a turkey walk by. A well stocked kitchen area made it easy for us to take turns preparing the food we brought. The kitchen sink and stove are much nicer than I have at home. 2 full bathrooms made it easy for us to get all our turns in quickly. The bed I slept in was very comfortable; we did not even need to use the bunch beds. Our hostess was very nice and did an adorable job on decorating the barn. My grown girls and I would all want it for our own house!

It was more than I could have hoped for. Absolutely beautiful peaceful setting. Loved going to sleep listening to the waterfalls. Comfortable beds and wonderful spaces and outdoor deck. I wish I lived here.

My wife and I stayed here for the 2nd time the past weekend, and loved it every bit as the first. The house/barn is very cozy, we were looking for a relaxing weekend for the 2 of us away from our toddler (although the house can serve much more than just 2 people), the house has everything you need, we used the wood stove a good bit, and Jane is super responsive to any questions. While we didn't use the grounds as much as the first time due to the season, we look forward to coming back again and seeing the area more. Would recommend to anyone.

A charming property that was perfect for our family! Plenty of space for a family of 4 or more. Adorable launch pad for exploring the Berkshires. The rental had everything we needed and my kids loved visiting the sheep and chickens. Cannot recommend highly enough if you are visiting the area!
3.0
This barn was overall nice and true to its photographs, but had some disappointments. One significant misrepresentation is that it claims to have two full bathrooms, and it only had one. The other downsides were that there was no coffee-maker (a very simple and necessary add-on, particularly for a "fully-equipped, gourmet kitchen"), and there were no toiletries (should have mentioned that ahead of time). The house is very close to the owner's home, so the description of private acreage was not really accurate. FInally, the "trout stocked" brook was more like a small stream, and was not easy to access. Disappointment overall, particularly for the rates charged.

We stayed at Mason Hill Farm for a short family “girls getaway”. Communication with the owners was very easy and all questions were answered before the trip. Check in/out was simple. The barn is converted beautifully and is equipped with all you need. It’s obvious that much thought and care was put into the conversion and decoration. The semi-private sleeping spaces were not an issue for us, since we all wake early. However, if your going with a late sleeper, make sure they are put in the bedroom. The beds were firm, but comfortable. The barn had AC and was nice and cool when we arrived. The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed the sheep and chickens. I personally enjoyed doing yoga on the back deck (two yoga mats are supplied in the house). However, the grounds were steeper than expected, making it a little challenging for my elderly mom. Getting to the brook in the back is very steep (only two of us ventured down there). My only disappointment was, I thought the barn was more set back and further away from the street and the owners. Not a big deal, but traffic noice and close proximity to neighbors was not what I wanted. The area is very nice and with just a little car travel, many nice things to do. We drove to the top of Mt. Greystone and loved the view. I highly recommend this place for all types of travelers.

A few helpful comments
Interesting property but having the one, shared, bathroom inside the one enclosed bedroom was a bit of a logistical challenge.
Really needs to have a standard coffee maker-pour over carafe is not well suited to volume needed for more than one person.
Probably best for a couple or couple with young children.

Nice stay, inside was as described. A coffee maker and gas grill would be nice.
Good stay, nice inside. Good overall. I thought the grounds could be much better kept, trash and half burned fire left. Also exterior shower unclean and very messy, didn’t use but would have liked.

Amazing property!
We rented this property over 4th of July weekend. My kids loved their rooms that were converted horse stalls. The house had so much character and the property was amazing! Jane allowed my kids to help feed her sheep and to gather eggs from the chicken coop. We loved our stay and would absolutely come back!!

Wonderful for a quiet getaway
The barn is wonderful—exactly as advertised. We had a very pleasant and restful stay. Ideal for anyone wanting to get away and decompress for a couple nights or more.

Wonderful!
Our family of 6 loved our stay here! The barn was renovated so beautifully and you could tell they put great thought into the furnishings and decor. I have difficulty staying away from home, but this home was immaculate and very clean which made me feel much more comfortable. Our children enjoyed the chickens and sheep. We ate dinner out on the porch every night and have wonderful fires in the evening. My husband and boys are avid fly fisherman and they caught many beautiful brook trout (a few of them were huge!) in the brook in the back. My only suggestion would be to improve the lighting in the bathroom. We spent most of our days outside and checking for ticks in the evening was a bit of challenge. Such a wonderful place to stay. We definitely hope to be back!

Charming and Thoughtfully Decorated Barn with all the Updated Amenities
My sisters and I wanted to get away from it all and have a long weekend up in the Berkshire Mountains to reconnect and unwind from the pressures of life. We found this adorable barn that was converted into a living space and loved every single second of our experience. The check-in process was easy peasy! Jane our lovely host was available to answer any questions we had prior to check-in and left fresh eggs from the farm's chickens as a thoughtful hospitality gift. Jane even had a fire in the wood burning stove all set up for us. It made the experience of opening the door to our weekend home all the more special! The barn is tastefully decorated with period pieces, so every room had something for us to marvel at. The sheep and chickens were a highlight of our stay. Obviously, the animals are not lodging at the barn in which we stayed in but on the property itself. The home in which we stayed in was clean, bright and had a wonderful vibe to it. The only drawback we could find was that if someone in your party was a light sleeper, they be wakened by the rustling of someone using the kitchen in the morning hours as two of the bedrooms are off the living room and kitchen and it is an open floor plan. That particular component did not bother us, but it might be an issue for others. Would we rent this place again in the future? Yes, in a HEARTBEAT! If you want something totally different and charming, I advise you to rent this lovely home. It is great for children, older folks and everyone in between.

Great Place in the Berkshires
Such a fun and unique experience, the river, the animals, the building and the fresh air. I only traveled with one other person but this rental could easily house an entire family with room for everyone.
There is a bike trail nearby, Mass MoCA, The Clark, hiking, waterfalls and history. Everything I wanted to do was within an hour or less away.

Great place and great hosts!
We had such a great time! The place was clean, large enough for all of us, and had such a great lot with the chickens and sheep. I would definitely recommend it to anyone staying in the area

Fun!
A converted barn in the Berkshires. Sheep and chickens. You can visit the entire area and do day trips to Vermont and upstate New York. A great time.

Almost perfect
One of my favorite things to do when I first arrive at a vacation property is to unpack and make myself at home. In this house, which is otherwise lovely, there are no dressers. No closets. No hangers. We had to live out of our suitcases, which were on the floor as there was no other surface to put them on. It’s an unfortunate downside to a property that I would like to visit again, but only if they buy some dressers or armoirs.

Cool place for the family
Kids liked that they were sleeping in a barn (we did too) and visiting with the sheep. Open floor plan and single story was good for a toddler. We had everything we needed for cooking and even found a book about Bigfoot that the kids loved!

Wonderful experience!
We really enjoyed staying at the barn, visiting the sheep and chickens, hiking the grounds and playing in the brook. The scenery is gorgeous. Loved it!

Heat broken and no doors
There were no doors between the rooms which was not exactly clear but the real issue was the fact that the heat did not work. We had to move all the mattresses out of one room so the kids didn’t freeze to death.

Interesting refurbished barn with awesome sheep & chickens on the property. Central location to many historical attractions and outdoor activities.Rooms were rustic but very enjoyable. Beds were super comfortable and the stable bed was a special treat. Water pressure and hot water were great, towels were plush and the claw tub was cool.Contactless check in was easy and owners gave us plenty of privacy. The time of season we went, the carpenter bees are very active but they are mostly on the other side of the barn so they didn't bother us at all expect when a couple bees & wasps got inside. I quickly removed them so it wasn't really that big of a deal. The owners provided plenty of dishes, cookware, paper goods, and cleaning supplies. The 2 big floor fans were a plus for the few warmer days. The living room furniture could be more comfortable but we didn't spend much of the day sitting inside.Water pressure and hot water were great, towels were plush and the claw tub was cool.Definitely worth booking. :)

Stunning location and accommodations.
The barn was beyond beautiful and it was a treat for our family to stay in such an interesting and comfortable space. It was spotless, had very comfortable beds, a well appointed kitchen, great books and was perfect for a relaxing long weekend. Great hiking at Greylock is just down a dirt road and it was less than 30 minutes to Mass MoCA and onto Williamstown. While available if there are questions, Jane and Ian seem to allow guests to enjoy the space uninterrupted which is really nice. Overall great experience!

A Gem In The Berkshires
My husband and I headed to the Berkshires for a few days of cross-county skiing and snowshoeing before the arrival of spring. The accommodations were perfect! The renovated barn is welcoming and hearth-centered. The craftsmanship on the restoration is detailed and the furnishings quite comfortable. The property has wi-if but no TV which was such a gift. We felt like we were on a retreat! And, the fresh eggs left as a welcome gift were delicious! Such a nice touch. I highly recommend staying at Jane’s place. We look forward to returning to this oasis.

Magical getaway
Our stay at Mason Hill Farm was nothing short of magical. The barn can be best described as rustic luxury. It was the perfect change of scenery for our family during a pandemic winter. We spent the majority of our time right on the property, meeting the animals, hiking, exploring the frozen brook and sledding down the hills. Thank you so much, we will be back for sure!

Wonderful Stay on a Snowy Weekend
This barn was a great, adventurous spot for our family of five (kids ages 13, 10, and 6). Very clean, comfortable beds, and fun layout for the kids. Our youngest slept on the bunk beds with us in the bedroom so that she could go to bed earlier, so just be aware that if you will be using the "semi-private" beds, they are open to the rest of the house and lights. Wasn't an issue for our older kids, who loved it. The property itself is great, with an accessible creek and some hiking trails through the woods. The only reason I'm giving it four stars is because we would have liked a more comfortable spot to relax in together after a day out; while the couch and chairs look great in the space, they are pretty stiff and there's no place to "put your feet up," so to speak. Replacing the current leather chairs with some recliners, or adding ottomans or a cozier couch might solve it. But otherwise, it's a great spot and we may try to return during the summer to enjoy the fire pit and swimming in the creek! Jane was very responsive and helpful - thanks for a great stay.

Very charming barn on a beautiful farm!
The barn is a unique property. There are lots of sleeping nooks in the adorable rustic barn. The grounds are beautiful. I quickly popped out to check out the chickens and sheep, but didn’t check out the property due to the temperature. The owners provided a lot of amenities. Jane left some complimentary eggs from the hens which was greatly appreciated! This is a great getaway spot!

We couldn’t have had a better time, it was exactly what we needed.
Our toddler enjoyed feeding the sheep and seeing the chickens. Each day we walk down to the brook, it’s a beautiful property. Hosts were helpful with all questions, the rental was clean and ready. Could not have asked for more.
