This property was perfect for me, my husband and my sister. The house was the perfect size. 2 large bedrooms and 2 updated baths. A large open living area and well equipped kitchen. Our son and his family visited us daily and there was plenty of room. Katie the host was always available and very helpful before and during our stay. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Oakland because our accommodations were so wonderful!

We loved this place, it was truly perfect. Its in a very cute neighborhood but is just a couple clocks to all the cool spots on College. One of the rare times a rental was better than the pictures!

My Hubs & I stayed there to visit Kids & Grandkids. What… a… fantastic… location. The “little house” was close to anywhere you want to go and was perfect for having family visit. Great neighbors & neighborhood … that SURRRIOUSLY know how to do Halloween! Our Grands absolutely loved it! We spent 6 days…and loved every minute of it! The house was really roomy and comfortable… and some great weather came with it the entire time we were there! It was nice to have the lovely outdoor space. We loved our stay in Rockridge! Perfectly located we walked to the grocery at Market Hall, enjoyed dinner at Southie, and had a wonderfully comfortable stay. Such a special neighborhood, close to family and access to SanFrancisco was a breeze! Thank you!

Lovely little house in a nice neighborhood. Very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. If you have more than one vehicle, parking would be challenging. Fortunately, we had just one vehicle so no problem. Recommend this property.

Such a great place in a great location - highly recommended!

We have stayed at the Private Retreat at least six times, since before Covid. We love the place both inside and outside. The location makes it an easy walk to College Ave. where we do a lot of shopping. A+

A relatively straightforward property with off street parking that served our purpose to explore the greater Bay Area by car. Area was nice with a very short walk to coffee/bread/groceries. Great shower! The only real issue (for us) was that the second bedroom has a skylight with an ineffective shade, which made it less than ideal for toddler nap time.

This little house sits behind a bigger home in Rockridge. The home is well equipped and in walking/shirt drive distance to anything you would need. Great neighborhood! We loved our stay!

The home was quiet, nestled in a lovely neighborhood and we enjoyed the comfort of the bed, the amenities and it really felt cozy and like we were staying at a friends house. I would stay here every time I’m in in Oakland/Berkley area.

Amazing location

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at this lovely home. It's clean, spacious, and comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet, the neighbors are friendly, it's near wonderful shops and restaurants, and the free parking in the driveway is an added bonus. BART is a short walk away if you want to visit San Francisco. We will definitely be staying here again!

All vacation/business rentals should try to be like this house. Clean, well appointed, modern, extremely livable space. We live in the South Bay, but i had a conference to attend in San Francisco and wanted an easier commute. This house is a 10 minute walk to BART, then a 20 minute train ride to Union Square in SF. The neighborhood is upscale and hip. The furnishings in the home are high quality, and the owner is super easy to communicate with. We couldn't ask for a better VRBO experience.

The house was extremely comfortable for our family over the holidays and more spacious than I expected! The small yard was great for our dogs and the neighborhood had a ton of great food, shopping, and transportation options. We would definitely stay here again.

After leaving the property in what we assumed was reasonable cleanliness for staying the weekend at a property with our dog, we were sent text messages outside the app with a request for an additional cleaning cost payment outside the app. This was unnerving, upsetting, frustrating, and sketchy since the owner immediately assumed the worst of us and was rude despite our best efforts to keep emotion out of it and it occurred outside the app, which we later found out is against VRBO policy. The property was in a great location! And a really nice layout for entertaining friends and family and baking cookies and cupcakes like we did. Beds and bedding were very comfortable. The yard is NOT enclosed, but was generally pretty private. And there were some quirks - like a broken sink stopper and shower handle and some scuffs on the walls, but nothing that made the stay unpleasant - it all felt standard for a rental. But beware of our poor experience with the owner and I would not recommend bringing pets even though it is allowed and I would also recommend bringing your own cleaning supplies. The owner was very upset with nose marks that are easily cleaned off of windows and minimal dog hair left on the floor - we believed these are reasonable issues to cover with the cleaning fee paid at booking, but the owner clearly did not.

Rare find indeed. Lovely place and lovely host. Felt safe and able to relax during our stay, especially with our young child being able to do his dinosaur stomps without worry. If we’re lucky enough, our preferred place to stay.

Second bedroom was small and no closet as the dresser was in it.

We were in the Bay Area for a few days - a combination of work and play - and decided to rent a house that would accept dogs so that the whole family could come. Katie's house is great. She was very responsive to questions and provided excellent directions/information. We loved walking around the neighborhood, and found the location convenient to both Berkeley and the City. Highly recommend.

We had a magical stay at this little house! I was getting married and I wanted to have a "home base" closer to the venue. This house was perfect! It's clean and bright with lots of natural light! We had our rehearsal Friday night and brought the wedding party back to the verbo and we had a relaxing evening together before the big day. There is a little yard out front with beautiful morning glories that gives privacy from the house in front and there is enough space to comfortably hold a small gathering of 30 people. We just sat on the lawn and enjoyed the night together. This location is great! It's a quiet neighborhood with ample street parking. It is 2 hour parking on the week days, but over the weekend, you're solid. The neighbors are all friendly and we were close enough to get Catering delivered with no issue! We really loved this house! Thank you for letting us stay!
