Anchors Aweigh was the perfect beach house getaway, with a clean and inviting atmosphere. The hosts are wonderful and a joy to know.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and all expectations were met or exceeded. The property was perfect for our stay scuba diving in the area. Situated near Moorehead City, area resturants, and Waterfront/Dive Shops. Property was clean with every ammenity we could have needed and the hosts went above and beyond and were gracious hosts. Outside area with sink, shower, and bathroom were perfect after a day of diving and scuba gear rinsing/drying. Highly recommend and looking forward to a return visit.

Wonderful location to the water front. House was clean and accommodating. Seeing the original key to the house added to the houses nostalgia. Great location to visit Shackleford Banks and Cape Lookout. The owners were out of town during our visit but still made sure we enjoyed some shrimp. Shout out to Dace for helping with our questions and his food recommendations while his parents were out of town. Hope to return next year.

The location of this house makes it perfect for walks to Front Street with our dogs, going out to dinner and anything else you may want to do in “downtown” Beaufort. It is extremely well stocked and if you are missing anything the hosts are willing to help in every way. Highly recommend their fresh seafood business - Darden’s Seafood- even if you aren’t staying in the house. Great place to unwind and relax with family.

It was perfect from beginning to end. We were celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary and it couldn’t have been better. The Darden’s are kind and friendly and will help in anyway you need. Close to beaches boating and scuba diving. Really great places downtown within walking distance. We will be back next October!

This house impressed. Immaculately clean, very well equipped and well located. The owners were friendly, even dropped in to say hi and leave a basket of the freshest shrimp and oysters from their seafood business. Those Salty Dog's sure tasted great, Darden's!

Joe and Sue are sweet as pie--like the pumpking pie they brought me (best I ever had!). They stock the house with every sort of item, including food items, so you can save on groceries. You think you are at home with all the thoughtful extras. There is no better day than to walk down for breakfast at the Turner Street Market, sit by the water in the park, investigate the amazing cemetery with a live oak for every grave (check out the little rum girl), and be sure to have Joe's seafood extraordinaire. The shrimp is like candy. The beaches are FABULOUS!

The hosts are very accommodating. There were three beds, but basically two bedrooms so if you want it, three bedrooms, three beds, this may not work. hostess provided, delicious, shrimp, and snacks, including snacks for our little dog. Very thoughtful.

We walked to Front St every night.
The neighborhood seemed very safe. The house was exactly as advertised. It was perfect for us! The house was very well stocked and very secure for our doggos. I would be interested in returning in the future if we ever marks it back that way!

What a perfect home in a perfect location! We saw wild horses, wild cattle, collected many shells, ate great seafood and walked to Front Street to shop many times. We had a perfect time! Loved the home! All as described...

We adapted after much disappointment in learning second bathroom was outdoors. Was a stunner. The downstairs bedroom desperately needs new mattress. The owners were very helpful & overall we were pleased. The bathroom location must be noted in the description of the property.

We had a wonderful time in Beaufort! The house was very comfortable and the location was perfect to walk to downtown. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch to read and the kitchen was well appointed for cooking. Thank you for sharing this historical home with us!

It was great. Easy access to all we needed. Our middle son is stationed at Atlantic Beach so it was convenient for us. This is southern hospitality at its finest!

It’s a big help when you don’t have to hunt for a parking place. Walk to lots of good restaurants, island tour embarkation sites, museum, shops. Our host and hostess were gracious and helpful, checkin was easy, and the little house is well stocked with pretty much everything you need including coffee and filters, snacks, toilet paper and paper towels, etc. All we needed were a few groceries. Downstairs bedroom can sometimes be noisy with traffic; upstairs bedroom accessed with short, tight original staircase — but these were minor issues for us. We had a great time and I would recommend for two old lady friends like us or for a couple with two or three kids who would like the upstairs: Plenty of room. . We would be glad to stay there again.

Wonderful bungalow home that feels like the small waterman homes where I grew up. The kitchen is well stocked, beds are good, and it feels like you live there.
The indoor bath is tight...but there is plenty of hot water and good pressure. The second bath is attached to the storage building in the yard. It would be nice for cleaning up after a beach visit or working on the boat all day but is impractical for daily use.
We have already recommended this home to friends and will return to it again.

Adorable yet spacious cottage within very easy walking distance to restaurants, the water front, shops, museum, and everything a visitor to Beaufort wants to see or do. The house was fully stocked with everything you need to cook (including nice sized crab/shrimp boil pots), not to mention bathroom things people often forget to pack such as sunscreen and hand lotion. When we checked in, the owners, who run a seafood market, brought us the freshest tastiest shrimp we’ve ever had. The house was very comfortable and we enjoyed sitting out on the front porch, with a nice evening summer breeze after a long day of romping around town.

Four fabulous nights with Joe and Sue. Our group was 3 55+ aged working moms and wives. We appreciate all the hospitality and attention we were given. And shrimp and hard shell crabs. This cottage has everything you need. Just pack your bathing suit and toothbrush. You are 2 blocks from restaurants, shopsand the water front. The Saturday morning Farmers Market right across the street. Thank you for a great stay.

Easy walk to downtown Beaufort and an easy location to get to any public beach access with driving time around 20 minutes. The owners are very sweet and accommodating. Saturdays they have a farmers market 9-1pm across the street. Very cool.

This house was a great place to stay. Plenty of room for 4 and quite comfortable. The owners were great and communicated well with us. Very friendly and provided us with shrimp for a meal. The location is perfect as it’s only a couple blocks from the waterfront. We would love to stay here again. It truly is a perfect place to make it an annual vacation place. Thanks again to the Dardens for their hospitality and providing a great place to stay!

Southern Historic Charm
Sue and Joe are amazing hosts. They were both born and raised in Beaufort, and it shows in the pride they have for their home and community. They are very welcoming and attentive to any questions or concerns about the house. Joe owns and operates a seafood company on the adjoining property. The benefit to that, Joe was always offering fresh caught shrimp for us to eat. Southern hospitality at its best!
The house has that historic charm my wife and I were looking for in a coastal community. Everything was clean and in good working order. We enjoyed our visit to Beaufort, NC and hope to return soon.
