We stayed at Ponderosa for a week and had a wonderful time. The location is very convenient to everything and you can easily walk down to the lake and downtown. The home is well equipped and very comfortable. I would definitely stay there again in the future.

The Ponderosa is awesome!! Clean, well stocked, located close to Evergreen lake and shops, and we cannot forget our Premier Guests…our precious wildlife! What a treat to see elk, deer, beavers and a rare glimpse of a coyote.
This is our 4th visit to this cabin and we will always consider this our second home. The hosts are superb in every way.

My stay was excellent and everything was clean and tidy. It had everything I needed.
The cabin was fantastic, the location great and the Elk and deer walking by every morning was a bonus.
Would recommend it for any in wanting to stay in the mountains.

Spike and Diane are fantastic hosts! Diane has managed to renovate an old property in need of repairs and updates and turned it into a wonderful vacation destination. She maintained the integrity and charm of the old rustic cabin, yet made some changes that provide modern amenities without losing the “cabin-charm”. We loved the property and they attend to every concern immediately. A 5 Star stay!

The pictures don’t do this place justice! A wonderful cabin with great amenities. You’re at the top of the hill and can walk down to the lake and then right into the picturesque town of Evergreen. Go enjoy the mountains and stay here - you’ll be glad you did!

Great location. Close to downtown Evergreen and many hiking trails. Not too far from denver to visit family. Deer commonly sat in yard. Property well taken care of. Was a great getaway for the month.

We enjoyed our stay. The home is comfortable and was well equipped for our month long stay. Much nicer than average. We noticed that one item hadn’t been replenished for an extended visit and it was delivered promptly. The neighborhood is quiet but the home is near the town, which is charming. My husband and I were easily able to secure daily admission to the beautiful local rec center. Be aware this home may not be suitable for the elderly or disabled, or even young children as the stairs going up to the two bedrooms upstairs are quite steep and there is no upstairs bath. Otherwise, I highly recommend this property.

Staying at the Ponderosa House was a great way to start the New Year. It was clean, cozy, and complete. Spike was a wonderful host. Evergreen is an ideal location to several places, including ski resorts. The wildlife (deer) was always a pleasure to see in the mornings. Thank you!

We stayed in Evergreen for a family wedding but would definitely return. The town is cute and full of unique establishments. Lots of great hiking/biking in the area. The property was terrific and has a great location. Sitting on the deck and watching the Elk meander through the yard was a highlight.

The cabin is everything they say it is. Very comfortable and supplied well in the kitchen. The area around the cabin is beautiful and there’s a nice deck to enjoy the outdoors. The owner is very available for emergency type things!! I hope we stay there next year on our trip!!

We Loved the Ponderosa Mountain Home
Ponderosa Mountain Home is beautiful. Spotless with an airy modern kitchen, rooms are comfortable and spacious, charming, and outfitted with every amenity. The cabin is ideally located and served as home-base for day trips to Vail and Golden. We appreciated the proximity to Red Rocks - the night drive after a concert was definitely exhilarating along Upper Bear Creek Road.
There are countless things to do in Evergreen and nearby Golden. On the few rainy days we had during our stay, the cabin had games, a large flatscreen to watch movies, and covered areas of the wraparound porch from which to view the passing elk.
We appreciated Spike’s super quick friendly responses to our questions and can’t wait until our next stay!

Mountain Cabin Extraordinaire
The Ponderosa is everything anyone could want in a mountain cabin getaway! Clean, cozy, comfortable, full of amenities, and an ideal location in Evergreen. Early one morning looking through the windows, we counted over 70 elk passing through the yard....what an awesome experience!
Spike is a super host! His attention to details and thoughtfulness was much appreciated. We highly recommend staying at the Ponderosa, and look forward to returning on one of our next trips to Colorado.

Lots of elk viewing opportunities!
My stay at the Ponderosa was amazing! I spent a lot of time relaxing on the deck. Most evenings and some mornings, a beautiful 6 point bull elk walked through the yard, stopping to bugle. On one evening, I also got a visit from a mama elk and her baby. And I saw a small herd down the hill at the back of the property. The Ponderosa is tucked away in a small neighborhood not too far from the lake and the downtown area but still feels secluded and peaceful. It took about 5 minutes to pop downtown to pick up food or 10 to get to the nearest grocery store. There are several trailheads 5-10 minutes away. The house was warm and cozy, very clean, well supplied, and had lots of windows to let the mountain sunshine in. Spike (the owner) was flexible, responsive, and very friendly. I loved my stay there and plan to return for another visit in the future.

Great getaway
Such an amazing place to stay in Evergreen. My husband and I and our two dogs had the best time exploring the area and enjoying the lake. It was such a nice and cozy cabin to retreat home to after a day of outdoor adventures. Highly recommend.

This is a wonderful three bedroom cabin in Evergreen Colorado. It’s about a 45 minute ride to Denver. There are a lot of things to do near Evergreen if you don’t want to stay within the city. The cabin did not have air-conditioning, so it was a little warm during the day. Fans were provided which helped move the warm air through the cabin. Overall excellent stay highly recommend recommend

Our stay at the Ponderosa House was great. It was immaculate, the beds were very comfortable and the wildlife was truly amazing. We saw elk or deer on the property nearly every day of our month-long stay, and sometimes in large numbers. The owners have created a special home in a special town.

Perfect historic house
Cute historic log cabin type of home. All the amenities of home. Sometimes I need to bring my own toiletries, soap, etc but everything was supplied. Bed was a little small for my 6’6” husband and me so we split up. Saw a lot of elk in the yard over the past 4 days. Perfect location - near downtown Evergreen and the lake, and near great trails like Alderfer, Three Sisters. Our fave restaurant was the Switchback BBQ in Kittredge - need to get there before 1 or 2pm or else all the food is gone. We also loved Kalaka Mexican restaurant in the Bergen neighborhood. We went to a Rockies game one night - 30min drive. Wish the house had 2 Bathrooms but we survived. Spike was quick to reply. TV was a little tricky to figure out but we weren’t home much so that was ok - I don’t think there was the typical cable service we are used to but we were able to access Netflix. I would highly recommend this place and hope to come back.

Family time is the best time!
We enjoyed our stay at the Ponderosa so much. Beautiful, comfortable & with a great porch and TV. Spike was a great host. Kitchen had everything but could use a non stick pan for fried eggs & maybe a larger family sized skillet. Had a mule deer visit one morning. He was very curious about us bing on the porch. Will definitely recommend the Ponderosa to anyone. Thank you Spike

Great getaway close to Denver!
Loved this cabin, it was so well appointed and decorated so nicely! We got to experience both sunny warm weather and snow while there and it was perfect. The fireplace was wonderful and we loved the crank out windows to let some of the cool refreshing mountain air in during the evenings. There is a large smart TV in the living area that was actually really great whenever we got snowed in for a bit. Great location that you feel like you are away from it all up in the mountains, but still easy access to Denver/Golden/Boulder etc. Spike was great to work with and provided great information and helpful recommendations!

This is our second year staying at Spike’s amazing Ponderosa Mountain Cabin, and we didn’t want to leave! Every single comfort a guest could ask for is anticipated and provided for including luxurious bedding and bath towels, cozy throw blankets, beautiful kitchen appliances and dishware, and incredibly comfortable furnishings throughout the cabin. The fireplace put the perfect period on our evenings “back home” after a day exploring Evergreen and the neighboring communities. We LOVE Spike’s place and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a perfect mountain cabin escape. Thank you so much Spike and Diane for another stay, it was The Highlight of 2020!

A Perfect Vacation Stay
I absolutely loved this property, and the property manager. The property is beautiful. There was so much attention to detail which made us feel at home. I loved all the art, loved the design of the cabin, and loved the elk walking through the yard. It was close to the lake, so perfect for walking my dog, and perfect for walking or driving into town. Diane and Spike were wonderful and very, very responsive. I feel like they are friends now. I highly recommend this property and I am so thankful for Spike and Diane for making me feel like a welcome guest in their home. We had a wonderful vacation. Thanks!!!

Relaxing mountain cabin stay
Spike’s cabin is the perfect setting to kick back and relax in after a day of hiking, fishing and exploring the mountains. The cabin is very tastefully decorated and furnished. The wrap around deck is the perfect spot to have morning coffee and breathe in the crisp mountain air. We loved it and hope to get back.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Ponderosa! Perfect location for short day trips, not to mention all that Evergreen has to offer. We love to cook together as a family. Spike's kitchen had all the amenities that made it extra special. The herd of elk passing through the yard on a regular basis was the icing on the cake.

Beautiful mountain getaway
Situated in the small quiet town of Evergreen with plenty of outdoor activities to keep everyone engaged. Our family of 6 enjoyed hiking at the nearby 6 sisters trails, paddle boarding at Evergreen lake and horseback riding nearby. We sampled the local restaurants and enjoyed the frequent sightings of Elk nearby. The Ponderosa met all our family's expectations and more! Thank you Spike and hope to return soon!
