Quaint private cottage on Great Pond

Ma place est bonne pour les couples.
Construit en 2011 avec le poteau et la construction de la poutre. Le chalet est très privé situé dans les bois avec une grande terrasse donnant sur le lac.

This cute cottage was just perfect for our stay. It was clean and thoughtfully furnished. The hosts were kind and very helpful. It was so fun to be right on the water for family canoe/kayak time and the porch has such peaceful views. We loved our stay and made many fun family memories!

Great view from large porch. Comfy beds. Well equipped kitchen. Short drive to grocery stores, including seafood market. Nature trails for our morning walks. We took day trips to Bar Harbor and Castine for lunch and the sights. The host was always available and helpful.

Had a great time at this cabin. It’s not often you find a place that is private and quiet like this one. The pond being so close makes it perfect. Loved fishing and caught some bass right off the dock. Our dog had fun running around in the water as well. Host was accommodating and always available. Close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Most days we just wanted to hang out at the cabin and take it all in.

This place was exactly what we needed! We loved the extremely quiet atmosphere! It was a dream vacation for our dog as well! Beautiful place! Looking forward to returning some day!

Scenic view of the pond, with access to water. Water in the pond a bit too murky for a swim but great for kayaking. We liked the quiet location with reasonable travel time to attractions. Cabin is sufficiently stocked, however more towels would be needed for longer stays. No internet connection during our stay, but who needs it with a view like this?;) Good place to unplug and relax away from it all.

What an adorable, quaint, little place to stay. If quiet and relaxation is what you are looking for, this is the place for you. Sit by the water and let Mother Nature calm you. Just about an hour away from downtown Bar Harbor so plenty of opportunity to shop, eat, hike, but return to the quiet.

Amazing find on VRBO. Loved our stay at the cabin. My kids enjoyed fishing and swimming. Very quiet and secluded area, exactly as they described. The main only negative thing I would have to say is there are a ton of mosquitoes at night, but that is no one’s fault! During the day they weren’t as bad. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your cabin!

Wonderful place to stay, away from the craziness of Bar Harbor

This place rules!!! Couldn't have asked for a more perfect location during the most beautiful time of year (mid-Oct).
Visiting Maine and going to Acadia NP during fall was on my bucket list. I'm so thankful that we were able to call this place home while we were out there.

I knew that we would love the location as soon as we turned onto the one lane gravel road leading to the cabin. It is secluded and quiet, but within a short drive of restaurants and attractions. The last night of out stay the sky was clear and we were able to see the Milky Way from the pier on the property.

Fantastic from start to finish.
Everything was clean and the property was well supplied with everything you need to relax and enjoy.
Loved canoeing/kayaking and swimming in the pond.
The deck was wonderful and the location was prime for accessing the Downeast trail for bike rides as well as short drives to Donnell Public lands for great hikes.
Acadia MDI/Schoodic we’re only 35-40 minutes away.
15-20 minutes into Ellsworth for any groceries/services.
Pleasantly surprised that late August in the woods on a lake in Maine and very little issues with bugs.
We have more mosquitoes in our back yard back in Maryland.
We live Maine and would highly recommend a stay at Loon Landing for anyone looking to explore the Acadia National Park area or just relax on Great Pond.
Aaron & Jennifer were great hosts.

Beautiful Remote Cottage
The Cottage was exactly as described in the listing. It was well furnished and supplied. We found the pamphlets and guide books supplied to be especially helpful as we explored the area.
The only downside was that it was extremely buggy. This of course can’t be helped at a cottage in the woods by a pond in early summer. We would just recommend bringing lots of bug spray.
We were able to take full advantage of the kayaks and canoe as well as the fire ring. We had a great time and would stay again.

Peaceful getaway spot!
Loon Landing was the perfect spot for our anniversary getaway! The pictures and description were very accurate. The cabin was comfortable and equipped with all we needed! We enjoyed time on the lake and some delightful nearby restaurants and hikes! Hoping to return again!

Loon Landing
We enjoyed our stay at Loon Landing. The hosts were very helpful. The place was very private. One of our primary goals for the trip was to see and hear loons. The very first morning at 6:10 am, a loon drifted in right at the end of our pier and demonstrated his vocal talents! It was nice having our own canoe and kayaks to use for exploring. It was just a short drive to Acadia, which we explored thoroughly. Thanks so much Aaron and Jennifer!

Beautiful secluded location.
Traveled to Maine for a destination wedding. My date changed plans at the last moment and I had to travel alone and chose to stay a few less days. The owners were very understanding, allowing my dogs and only charging the extra fee for the days that I was actually going to be there. I would've loved to be able to just change the dates of my stay to enjoy the property with my boyfriend but I knew it was much too late for that. Although I was staying alone, I felt very safe and close enough to other houses if there were any issues. The composting toilet wasn't any problem and that was something I was initially concerned about. Also I wish the wifi was a little better but I probably should've just been enjoying the view more instead of watching TV and answering emails. I would definitely recommend.

Very Peaceful Stay -plan to do it again!
Can't say enough good things about this place. About a 1 mile drive down a dirt road to a very peaceful and quiet location. Only noises to be heard are the loons. Like someone else mentioned in another review most of the time we were the only people in the lake swimming and kayaking. Occasionally we would see someone else fishing and just get a friendly wave of the hand.
There is a sharp drop off in depth in the water about 30-40 yards from shore and the stairs leading to the loft are steep - not a big deal but just be mindful if you have small children.
About 30-40 minutes to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The more immediate local locations are also great (i.e. Timber Tina's, Ruth and Wimpy's, Jordan's Snack Bar, etc.) Grocery stores/Box stores only about 10 min ride away if need be
Internet can be fickle but not really a determining factor for us.
No issues with the composting toilet at all. It operates like and above ground septic system with the tank being under the house. Never had any issues with flushing, smell, or anything else. Also no emptying it - the owners take care of that.
Only suggestion we had are you may want to bring a fan bc it can get stuffy in there (you are in the woods surrounded by trees) and just relax.....

A Magical Forest Setting
Ah tranquility. It is so peaceful and serene at Loon Landing. We took advantage of the canoe and kayaks and were usually the only ones out on the pond. It is very quiet and secluded as others have stated. You can see one other cottage through the woods, but it is far enough away that you can’t see or hear anyone. My dog loved it there, so much for her to explore. The ferns were so huge she could get lost in them. We found a series of trails at the end of the road. You go up this wooded trail and come out on these trails that are owned by a logger (at least that’s what a local told me). My dog and I had a great time out there. It was nice to come back to the quiet woods after the hubbub of Bar Harbor and Acadia. We were expecting lots of mosquitoes and came prepared but never really needed any repellent as they weren’t bad. The compost toilet is fine. If you’ve ever used a camper or an airplane bathroom it is very similar. I was not cleaning it all the time as someone posted, just squirted some stuff in it as needed, which was hardly at all. The internet was fickle for us which affected AppleTV streaming but who needs TV in paradise? Go and enjoy. You won’t regret it!

Beautiful place but I would have liked to know a few things before I got here.
The cottage is immaculate and the pond is gorgeous. However … we were really looking forward to using the pond to fish and that wasn’t possible. We couldn’t get the boats in the water without standing in ankle deep muck and fishing from the land was difficult at best. The pictures showed a nice dock which was not in the water yet. Also, the description didn’t say anything about a compost toilet. It worked fine but i didn’t like having to clean it all the time. Lastly, we brought food to cook in the oven which didn’t work.

Lovely Loon Landing!
Loon Landing was absolutely amazing! The owners made booking simple and clear, and were quick to answer any and all questions, including being accommodating to a minor change in our plans. Both check-in and -out were simple and clear, and the property was exactly as described! We absolutely loved having some seclusion, while also being a reasonable drive to Bar Harbor for some day trips. The kids especially loved swimming and taking out the canoe and kayaks, and we loved our nights by the fire pit, making s’mores. The house was cozy and extremely clean and well cared for. It was actually even a bit more secluded than we anticipated, which was so nice. The road to the house isn’t paved for about a mile and a bit bumpy, but not an issue at all (we just had a normal car and were fine). The only extremely minor change we would have liked is a couple more chairs by the fire pit, but even without them, we had an absolutely blast and would definitely love to return one day! Thank you for opening your home to others and allowing us to visit!

Tons of privacy
This sweet little house was immaculate, had plenty of staples in the kitchen, and everything one could need for outdoor play. On Great Pond, which is warm and clean; we swam and paddled in the kayaks(provided by property owner!) each day. Bring bicycles, as this is near a bike path that we took all the way into Hancock to swim in yet another fantastic pond(Donnell Pond). Stock up groceries in Ellsworth first, as once you get to this house you won't want to leave for anything. We did not start the car our entire 4 day stay, and the local market is just off the bike trail, which had the mandatory S'mores supplies we had forgotten. Fire pit-- wonderful. Somehow this woodsy place was not overwrought with mosquitos, so that was a plus. Blueberries along the roadside also a bonus.

Comfortable cottage. We'll appointed. Convenient to Acadia. Needs better instructions for TV.
Had a great time. Take note that stairs to loft may be too step for children, older adults, and pets.

Absolutely wonderful little cabin
Peaceful, quiet, and private. A perfect getaway for my boyfriend and I. The dogs enjoyed it too. The cabin was clean and stocked with plenty of supplies to cook. We enjoyed taking the canoe and kayaks out on the pond. Bring your pole if you like to fish! About 45 min to Acadia, but plenty of other places hikes close by. Would defiantly recommend for couples or small family.

A great find
Wow, what a wonderful stay. Communication with Aaron and Jennifer was quick and piece of cake. Check in was simple. Cabin is a true oasis of Maine lake getaway. Comfortable beds, very clean, appointed with kitchen condiments and utensils, BBQ so you do not need feel the need to bring ‘ the grocery store and the kitchen sink’. Shower was hot, comfortable despite small cabin living. Porch is ‘in the trees’ and covered for rainy weather. Porch is not in direct sun, so bring a sweat shirt. We stayed in early spring, so swimming was not an option. But easy in and out of provided canoe (kayaks available too). 5 min drive to ocean and sea glass hunting with our dog. 10 min drive to Ellsworth and Fogtown Brewery (a great find). I may sound like an endorsed review, but I am really not. This was a great find

Quaint and Peaceful
The cottage was immaculate. We were impressed with the cleanliness, condition and the stocked kitchen (appliances, pots/pans, pantry items, etc) The area is very peaceful. The canoe was in excellent condition and the heat worked wonderfully! Proximity to Acadia was great, as well. We had an awesome time. If you're looking for a quiet retreat for some down time from the busy thing we all call life then this is it!!!

Total Gem!
Arriving in the dark of night made for an interesting little drive off of the main road, but boy what a spectacular view to wake up to as the sun rose! This place is everything you could want in a cabin getaway on a lake! While we enjoyed a couple adult only days, we sure do plan to come back with our children to share this special place!

THE PERFECT GETAWAY!
Loon's Landing is clean, comfortable & well stocked. There was nothing lacking. The silence was deafening. The morning loons were wonderful to hear. Coffee on the dock was a great way to start the day. Acadia is about 30 minutes away so it was good to leave the traffic & craziness behind at the end of the day. A glass of wine on the dock was a great way to end the day. The only thing missing was a moose sighting!

Woodsy, serene location
This property is just as advertised. It's a cozy, clean, comfortable and well stocked cabin. It's very rustic but has everything you might need for an enjoyable stay. Our lab loved romping in the woods and in and out of the pond. The mosquitos were bothersome but plenty of spray is provided but that is summer in Maine for ya. It was about 45 minutes to Bar Harbor and then nice to leave Acadia and get back to the solitude of the pond life.

All This and Loons Too
We stayed at Loon Landing for four nights while we toured Acadia National Park, visited Campbello, and went to local gardens. It was a lovely place to come back to each evening. The house is small and not well-suited for those with limited mobility, but if you're look for beauty, peace, and quiet, it is perfect. Each early morning and late afternoon we sat on the front porch, looked at the pond, and listened for the loons. They called to us every day. The kitchen is small but well supplied, and we cooked all of our dinners there. I was a bit concerned about the composting toilet, but it really wasn't an issue, not at all like an outhouse. You should make sure you are stocked with insect repellent. The mosquitoes are hungry. Overall a beautiful stay in a beautiful cabin.

Great cabin!
Had a great time in this private cabin. Just off the beaten path with great privacy! Loved the lake and canoe/kayaks! Drove to Acadia during the day and relaxed in evenings by the lake!

Peaceful getaway
We had a wonderful time at the great pond cabin. It was so quiet and peaceful. Our cockapoo loved it as well. We really felt like we got away. The only downside was that it was extremely buggy so we didn't get to enjoy the deck and fire pit as much as we would have liked, but it was July in the woods on a lake, so it'd be hard not to have bugs. Description of the property was spot on. There were no surprises to us. The bathroom is fine. It is not an outhouse whatsoever. This place is away from the town enough that you feel secluded yet stores are are only a short drive away. Check in and check out was super easy. Would love to check it out in the wintertime!

Not enough info provided
They always say Buyer Beware. I have never had ANY trouble with VRBO. This time was different and it really was not VRBO it was the owner of property not providing enough info and being honest after I had made contact with him. He was aware that it would be my sister and I traveling to Maine for her husbands memorial service and that we would be travelling with a small pet.
I just wanted a quiet place away for my sister and I at this very sad time. We were not aware that the cabin was way off the grid and not easy to access. Trying to find the cabin we had no cell service and there was not wi fi available when we did arrive at the cabin. Once we did arrive we discovered that there were extra restrictions for pets that had not been made available to us before. The loft where the extra bed was located was too steep for two 60 year old women to navigate. To top it all off the commode was a compost commode which basically is an "out house" inside. This info had not been provided to us either. We basically walked in, read instructions for pets and compost potty, tried to climb stairs to loft, looked at each other, cried a little and locked up and left. When I was able to get cell service I called owner and told him we would not be staying.
I blame myself for not asking more questions but once again "Buyer Beware".
Thankfully there were nice people in town who went out of their way to shuffle reservations around on a "Memorial Day"
weekend and accommodate us. So not all Maine locals are out just for themselves.
Unhappy form Texas Paula

Quaint, peaceful setting.
If you’re looking for a peaceful, tranquil, “get away from it all” setting, Loon Landing is the place for you. Loon Landing is a clean cottage with every
amenity imaginable. We visited in early fall when the leaves were just starting to turn. We arrived a few hours early and Jennifer and Aaron answered our phone calls immediately. As advertised, it is a 30-40 minute drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia and about 15 minutes from Ellsworth, the ll bean factory outlet and grocery stores.

Cozy cottage perfect for a lake-side getaway
We visited with our two corgis in early September. The cottage is near the end of a long dirt road, making it incredibly quiet and peaceful. The cottage is well appointed with everything one could need. There was already wood by the fire pit, life-vests for canoeing or kayaking, phone chargers, a smart TV with an Apple TV, and the all-important coffee maker.
What the pictures don't show, but we were delighted to find is that the area by the dock is a gentle slope into the water with a huge shallow area perfect for wading, and getting into a boat.
Loved our time here, wish we'd been able to stay longer!
