I found this rental when planning a somewhat last minute summer vacation. The family requests were a beach and seafood. This location met all of our needs and more. Communication with the host was simple and prompt. He answered all of our questions as well as gave suggestions for things to do and places to eat nearby. The home was just as described, a home in a beach community. The amenities were more than sufficient with a well stocked kitchen, AC, comfortable beds, front porch, outdoor shower, grill, convenient parking and very friendly neighbors. There were two beach options just a block away, many restaurants were within easy driving distance, plus within about 30 minutes of driving we were able to get to several “tourist” destinations that we enjoyed. I would definitely stay at this rental again if I was traveling in the area with my family.

Location is perfect for a quick weekend getaway for our filimy of 6 ages from 16 to 68. Close to Mystic Seaport Museum and the Aquarium, we also when to Hammonasset Beach Park, have a great time. One recommendation is to upgrade the upstairs TV and please provide towels.

The house was great - really convenient to the beach, the house has great accommodations. We had 6 people and we were comfortable there. We were able to bring food and keep it in the fridge. And the street was nice and quiet. It was probably a 5 minute walk to a nice, quiet beach. We had a great time!

Stayed there for my son's wedding. Great little house right near the beach. Everything we needed. Adorable street.

This beach house was the perfect size for our group: a family with 2 kids, plus two couples. The family was upstairs in the suite area and the couples each had double beds downstairs. The kitchen had the equipment to bake + serve a quiche. A great spot for families who want to go to the beach and on pretty walks. A rare hurricane evacuation shortened our stay but Tom was very kind to adjust the reservation for us and checking in to make sure we were ok.

The only thing I would change is would have made it a little bit longer we thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet would book again

Great little property I’d recommend to friends! Only a short walk to the private or public beach snd only a short drive to the center of town. We’ll definitely go again!!

Great for a few nights away. The three bedrooms and AC made our stay very comfortable and we enjoyed the property. Host responsive and friendly.

We had a great weekend at the beach. We brought a paddle board, which was perfect in the sound. It was just as expected.

Short walk to the beach, and ice cold AC. A quaint cottage that feels bigger on the inside. Kitchen was well stocked and place was nice and clean when we arrived. Not great for little kids but great location. I especially like the loft bedroom with extra seating area to get some space when needed. Not much freezer room (two mini-friges) so don't bring a bunch of ice cream like we did! Living room couch was a bit worn out and could be replaced.

We stayed 5 nights while visiting our family in Old Saybrook. We found the house clean, comfortable and nicely airconditioned. Though we did not cook while there, we noted the kitchen was well stocked. Take note that the bathroom is rather small and you will need to bring your own towels. We recommend you bring some cash to try the smoked meats from the food purveyor at the beach. Overall the property served our needs well.

We really enjoyed our time in Westbrook. This property was exactly what we wanted. Quiet neighborhood … 5 min walk max from the beach and easy to get to food and drink options. I really appreciated how attentive Tom was. He responded quickly and worked with us to make sure everything was handled timely. Would love to come back!

The house was clean and cozy, and we appreciated small things like the free weights and scrabble which we ended up using and enjoying. The outdoor shower was also very convenient. Tom was kind enough to let us check-in early. This is a very quiet and nice, family-friendly beach neighborhood and I would definitely come back and would be happy to stay at Tom's cottage again. A few things to note: You will need to bring your own towels. The beds aren't the most comfy (they have some plastic covering underneath that feels awkward), but they were good enough for our short stay. Also note that the top floor is a large attic/loft space--two flights of stairs lead up to it but there is no door, so privacy could be an issue, depending on the guests (but the first floor bedrooms do have doors). All in all, a great stay. Thank you!

We enjoyed an extended weekend stay at the beach house. The house was a quick walk to the beach. The house is small but we had enough space for my family of six. The kitchen was really well stocked. The owner happened to stop by as we arrived and helped to orient us to various features of the house.

We had a wonderful stay at Thomas’s beach bungalow. Everything was great. Property was clean and just as the pictures showed. It was a stones throw from the beach. Can’t beat the location! Thank you for having us!

We enjoyed a weekend at the beach house with its quiet neighborhood and easy walk to the beach. We appreciated the owner accommodating a special request. The house is compact but has plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen is well stocked.

The beach cottage was lovely and perfect for my family getaway.

My husband and I along with our daughters and their boyfriends stayed. The area was perfect. So close to both the town beach and private beach. The neighbors on the street were very nice and I see why Tom has the house there. You can see the beach from the front deck and it was a quick walk to the beach to watch the sunrise every morning. Tom was very accommodating with our requests and the house had everything you need including a kayak! We are hoping to stay there again in the future. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone!!!!

We had a wonderful vacation at Tom's cottage. The house was exactly as described- vintage elements coupled with modern upgrades- beautiful kitchen and powerful air conditioning. This home had everything we needed. There was enough room for our family to spread out, the porch was comfortable to sit on at night, and the outdoor shower was perfect after a day at the beach. The beds were comfortable and I appreciated that my husband and I could sleep upstairs, somewhat away from our kids. I loved that the beach was so close that my tweens could bike home when they were ready. We enjoyed walking on the private beach at night (amazing sandbar at low tide!) and spending the days on quiet West beach. I appreciated the little touches- hand soap and extra TP in the bathroom, plenty of dish soap in the sink- that some rental houses lack. Tom's communication was excellent and he even made sure our car would be safe during a storm. Tom's restaurant suggestions were on point as well! Thanks for a fantastic trip.

Perfect location for a long weekend beach vacation. Short walk to the beach To private beach and town beach. From the town beach you can go for a nice long walk on the beach. The weather was hot so the AC was great, nice and cool in the house. So glad we rented this cottage!
