This is our second time renting from Michael and Gail. They are the most hospitable hosts we’ve ever had very responsive. Their house manager was great. The location is perfect. Amazing to be able to wake up every morning and drink our coffee sitting outside hearing the ocean, we can’t wait to return again.

Five of us stayed at the house for a week. The house was clean and very comfortable! There is very easy access to the beach and a beautiful view from the patio in the yard. There are beach chairs and a cooler at the house as well as a bbq grill. There are lots of games and puzzles at the house if it rains while you’re there. The beach in front of the house is great for snorkeling, and if you go around the little point to the right, there’s a nice spot to gather sea glass. The hosts are the most responsive I have ever dealt with! They have a property manager if you need anything during your stay but if you need to reach the owners, they will get back to you pretty quickly!!!! We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay there again!

The location is great, I really liked listening to the ocean waves it was so relaxing. The pool is nice and private. The living room and bedrooms were ok, the extra linens and towels were just thrown in a closet on top of some house hold supplies. The kitchen is in need of some organizing The pans, dishes and utensils were just kind of placed here and there. The convection oven made some loud nosies and the gas grill knobs were very difficult to turn when lighting and adjusting the flame. We still had a great vacation.

What a treat it was to fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves. The deck was the perfect place for sipping morning coffee. Hated to leave this lovely spot! Thank you!

The bungalow was just what I’d hoped for, and had everything that we could need, from beach chairs to a new coffee pot. Elizabeth who I assume is the property manager was a delight! She was very helpful, kind and informative about the area. 10 out of 10 would stay here again! The welcome basket that was left for us was a very pleasant surprise.

We loved this house & location! We have stayed in Vieques many times & this is our favorite place. The host was lovely & charming & made us feel at home immediately upon arrival. The house was cozy & comfortable with everything needed for our 10 day stay. We like to cook and the kitchen had everything we needed. We loved grilling fresh fish & eating outside by the ocean. Beds were comfortable and the house was IMMACULATELY clean. Wi-Fi works great. What really shines is the location & grounds! The house is very private & just steps from a beautiful beach on the Atlantic side. The beach is essentially private- we only saw one other couple the whole time we were there. We could hear the ocean from our bedroom and slept with the curtains open to wake up to glorious sunrises. The front yard is beautiful and peaceful with spectacular ocean views and a hammock perfect for lazy afternoon naps. The pool on the backside of the house was great for afternoon swims after the beach. It was magical to walk by the ocean at night under a canopy of stars. For us, The front yard was a calm space for reading and relaxing and the pool was the “party” zone with beach music and frozen drinks. This property is exactly as it is represented in the pictures. It is just minutes to Isabel Segunda (the main town), grocery stores, restaurants and shops. About a 10 minute drive to our favorite beaches Sunbay and Media Luna. We would love to return to this sweet place again and again. ☀️🏝️🌊

The beach front location is amazing. Walk right out front yard to a quiet beach, good for waking but a little rocky for swimming. Ocean waves lull you to sleep. But the house is dated and needs updating. The couches had broken springs, a couple window fixtures were broken, the kitchen has old appliances, the place needs TLC to live up to its potential.

The bungalow was beautiful and well kept, especially in the tropics where I know it can be challenging. It was clean and had everything we needed from the kitchen to the bedrooms, bathrooms, and living space.
It was a very quiet neighborhood not a far drive from Isabel. A car/vehicle was definitely needed so I am glad we had a rental.
We enjoyed walking the beach right out front every morning, found a ton of beach glass and shells. The pool was lovely at the end of the day to cool off after a long day at the beach.
A few bits of feedback: the two-seater love seat has a spring that is poking up. It hasn’t broken the fabric but it is a bit sharp for anyone who sits on that seat.
The toaster seemed to be stuck in “bagel” mode and would only toast on one side. We just flipped our bread to toast both sides which worked fine.
The outside porch area overlooking the ocean would have been more enjoyable if the bushes had been trimmed down so we could see the water while sitting. But I also understand that they may have just overgrown over time, they kind of looked like the type of plant that grows fast.

we had an incredible week long stay at this lovely cottage. Elizabeth was lovely and a great manager who communicated with us very well and answered any questions we had. The cottage is a little more dated than the profile photos but it really was a joy to be there. The house had everything we needed to cook and be really comfortable and relaxed. Having the beach right there and the pool for our kids to play in after a long day exploring other parts of the island. We enjoyed making our own pina coladas in the kitchen and drinking them in the front yard while playing with the hermit crabs and lizards that visit everyday. I was initially unsure if the location on the north side compared to Esparanza but it was so peaceful. I would book here again in a heartbeat.

Comminication with the owners and on location manager was exceptional. The property was clean and as advertised. It was clear that the owners took extra steps to make certain those who stay feel welcome and at home. The kitchen was very well stocked as was the house. Our family had everything we needed. The beach, view and pool were such a delight. There wasn't a day that went by that we weren't enjoying them all. The island was easily accessible and we enjoyed exploring all that Vieques had to offer.

The Barefoot Bungalow is a sweet cottage in a perfect location. Being able to watch and listen to the ocean from anywhere on the property - inside and out - was amazing! Especially relaxing in the afternoon or going to sleep. Communication with the owners was easy and prompt, and meeting Elizabeth - the house manager - was an absolute delight!

We had such a great time in Vieques! The property was really sweet; it is exactly as described on the beach with a private yard. The pool was great, I thought maybe it would be too small but it was perfect for the four of us. The yard was great, and I loved having my coffee on the deck that overlooked the ocean. The inside of the house was clean and the beds were comfy. Listening to the ocean at night was amazing. Overall this was a great home base to come back to and chill after exploring the many things to see and experience in Vieques.

The Barefoot Bungalow is a beautiful little home that has everything you need. Very well stocked with the standards and much more! Sheets are soft and fresh, bath and beach towels are fluffy and plentiful. We enjoyed the brand new beach chairs and hammock. The A/C is super cool and the hot water worked well. Brand new washer and dryer were a great amenity.
The property manager, Elizabeth, was super responsive and extremely kind. We felt like family for the week we stayed.
It’s a quiet location off the beaten path so a rental car is a must. But wow, the view and the sound of the surf - totally worth it. The beach is great for walking and searching for shells. The pool is very nice although we mostly enjoyed all the incredible Vieques beaches.

We had an amazing and relaxing stay at Barefoot Bungalow. The location is absolutely fabulous - there’s nothing better than listening to the ocean while you lie in bed, and sitting outdoors looking at the stars or watching the waves while sipping coffee - it was unbelievable. The house is just minutes from town and both the neighbor and property manager are very friendly and helpful. It’s a rustic cottage but comfortable and my family loved our stay. Great snorkeling out front and we spent many happy afternoons down the road collecting sea glass at Bastimento beach. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

Overall, it was good. The location was great. The pool was great for the adults and the two grandkids. Maintenance of the property could be better. There were parts of the fence falling apart and by the washer/dryer they were in bad shape. House was well stocked with utensils, plates, glasses and pots/ pans.

Perfect house for 4 girls to reconnect and recharge. Our favorite thing was having morning coffee just steps from the ocean (we recommend adding a little coffee-infused rum locally made on Vieques). Elizabeth was wonderful and so helpful! Really quiet location—I think we were the loud ones on the block this week :-) everything was as described and the house was very clean and comfortable. The house was better than imagined! You couldn't get closer to the ocean if you tried. It was amazing to watch the wave brush onto the property at high tide and the sound was so relaxing. The house is comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked for meals at home. It's about a 15 minute walk into town and convenient for trips around the island. Hope to visit again in the future!

We just completed a week's stay and the place was outstanding. We are adventurous and we found plenty to do every traveling from end to end beach to beach. A car is necessary and driving around is easy as long as you are cautious and used to island drivers. Groceries and supplies were readily available and kind of pricey but not too bad....meat and vegetables were available most days,,, as was fresh fish as long as the boats went out.....insects were no problem as they are on most islands...construction at nearby cottages was barely noticeable...we loved it!

The property was perfect for our family vacation in terms of location, amenities, and indoor and outdoor space. The welcome basket was a special touch. The pool was very clean and we enjoyed it daily (the adults with our pina coladas poolside as well). We appreciated having beach towels and chairs to bring to the beach. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. It was good to see area reconstruction. With a few fixes/updates the property would be perfect (very dusty bedside lights, missing lightbulb in master bedroom main lights, uncomfortable couches, and outdated, torn binder with property and local information). Overall, we were very happy with our stay!

We had an amazing time, the house was perfect for the 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids. We rented a Jeep to visit all of the amazing beaches on the island and enjoyed the pool and walks on the beach in the afternoon. We have visited Vieques many times, but this was our first time bringing our children and the house was perfect for our stay. It is very breezy by the ocean and the only concern I had was coconuts falling from the palm trees. About 4-5 fell during the length of our stay so we were nervous to hang out in some areas of the yard and on one the side of the pool. Otherwise it was perfect and we were grateful for the beach towels, chairs, umbrella and pool toys.

We stayed in July 2022. It was the first time we selected a cabin tipe house instead of the luxurious and expensive villas of Vieques. We dint miss anithing about them because it was well furnisshed with everything you could need and much more. Every detail well thought out, beach chairs. Towels, table games sun protector towels, bedding and many other amenities. The manager met us at the property and offered us a basket with some goodies and the ingredients to enjoy a Delicious Piña Colada a typical and refreshing drink from the island. So we start the party. . . Hope you can enjoy the visit to Vieques as well as we enjoy it.

We loved Vieques!
We had a wonderful time in Vieques! The house was exactly what we expected at this price point. The hosts were great with communication and the house manager was excellent once we arrived. The house is in a great location to town, beautiful and relaxing setting right on the beach. We didn’t think we would use the pool, but turned out we used it everyday and loved it! The house was clean, very safe, and comfortable for our group of 5. The property itself felt large and everyone had enough space to spread out. Would love to visit again one day!
