Our group of 6 had a lovely week at East Ledge! Carol met us at the house when we arrived and provided a tour and some useful information about the house. The area is quiet but a short walk from fresh lobster and ice cream and a short drive from the perfect town of Bath. We would highly recommend this stay!

We enjoyed our stay at this home which is located right on the water. It is a great place to read some books, relax and gaze out towards the water. We saw a lot of birds, seals, dolphins and more. Please note that there are 1,200 gallon water tanks for showering and cooking.

The view of the cove is wonderful, the kitchen is well stocked, and the hosts are very responsive. The state park pass is a nice bonus. No washer/dryer on site, which could be clearer in the description. Also, with steep stairs this cottage is not for anyone with mobility issues. Still, a lovely location.

We stayed at East Ledge for a month and just loved it. We decided to rent for a month during our son’s last college soccer season. A great location, 5 minutes from Reid State Park, close to Bath with all its amenities. Can’t recommend it more highly!!!

Hurricane Lee hit just as we were heading up but that did not deter us. The owner was amazing at communicating every step of the way. The area lost power but the backup generator allow the refrigerator and some key lights to work so we were good! We had power by 1pm Sunday after we returned from a day trip to Bath. The place is amazing!! Very comfortable, we lacked nothing, and the views were nothing less than amazing!! My husbands family took care of the property when it was a camp. What stands there now is absolutely incredible. If you are looking for a place to unwind, this is the place. Thanks to Carol and Mike for making oit stay an amazing memory filled and memory making week!!

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at a cottage in a quiet little cove in Georgetown. The cottage was clean and supplied everything we needed. There was an excellent view of the water and pine trees with lobster boats gliding back and forth. Beautifully scenic. The Five Islands Lobster Pier was a walk away for a fresh seafood meal. We also enjoyed a lovely meal at Blue restaurant located in Greyhaven Inn on the water. The owner supplied a pass to Reid State park, another gem in the area. All in all a wonderfully tranquil time on the water. Hope to go back. Thank you Michael and Carol.

I was looking for a peaceful retreat with a view of the water - and that is exactly what I experienced at this comfy home. Watching the light on the water, walking to Five Islands Libster Co for dinner, and strolling at Reid State Park were highlights!

The owner of this property was extremely helpful, kind, and ensured our stay was absolutely perfect. The property itself is in tip-top shape and in a perfect location for a getaway. We're already looking forward to returning to this spot for years to come.

We are originally from New England, and we now reside in a more financially friendly state 900+ miles south of this location. Every June we get back to this mid-coast Maine area to enjoy the weather & the cold-water seafood, the Boothbay activities and the piece & quiet of coastal Maine in June.
The house was extremely well equipped and very comfortable.
Thank you, Carol & Biscuit, for your visits and welcoming us to your special neighborhood.
Attn: Michael - If you put this property on the market, we would appreciate a head's up on making an offer!

If you want incredible views, access to the freshest seafood less than a five minute walk away, the most perfect Maine beach a five minute drive away and the cleanest, most comfortable house to retire to in the evening....look no further than Michael's place here. It truly is incredible.

East Ledge was a wonderful place to stay when visiting mid-coast Maine. Michael, Carol, and her very welcoming dog Biscuit were gracious hosts, who helped us settle in quickly and were quickly attentive to a couple of minor needs during our stay. The house was immaculate, comfortable, and fully stocked, with gorgeous water views and comfortable decks to watch the tide rise and fall and the many boats passing by. A park pass to nearby Reid State Park was included, providing easy access to spectacular ocean beaches. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return.

Wonderful stay
This home was lovely in every way. It’s very quiet and secluded, which was exactly what we’d hoped for. We alternated between sitting on the deck and enjoying the water and sitting in the comfortable rockers in front of the sliding glass door. We saw a seal, lots of cormorants, osprey, a loon, ducks, kayakers and a few lobster boats. Overall the river in front of the house is very quiet. The house is gorgeous and in incredibly clean. The kitchen was about like ours at home in terms of what was in it — dishes, pots and pans, baking dishes, even a roasting pan. The Five Island Lobster Shack is not to be missed, as it is on a commercial dock and the lobsters come straight off the boat into the pot. We hope to be back next year for a longer stay.

Wonderful woodsy cottage on Gotts Cove and Sheepscot River
Very roomy cottage, well equipped with everything we needed (and more). Delightful location nestled in the woods, yet right on the water with lobster boats, terns, seals and all we could ask for in a Maine getaway! Michael was very accommodating, making sure we were comfortable, bringing wood for the fire pit, and even quickly responded to fix a water heater issue. Carol is just delightful and met our every need. Really enjoyed having the pass to Reid St Park! Thanks loads!

Excellent stay for one week
This property was lovely and peaceful. We had four adults who stayed very comfortably in this home in Five Islands on Sheepscot Bay. Among other things, we spent time wandering around the rocks and beach at Reid State Park and visited the Five Islands Farm. A short walk to the pier. Carol, our host, was very helpful. We didn't have to ask her for anything because it was already there! Would stay again if the opportunity arises.

Awesome Stay
The house and property are exactly as listed. The views of the water in the morning watching the lobster boats pass by and collect their catch was beyond describable. Highly recommend the property. And working with the home owner was so easy, very responsive and met us at the house and explained everything. Highly recommend this site for a relaxing vacation.

Peaceful and beautiful
My husband and I had the privilege of staying at East Ledge the last week of July. The property is even more beautiful than the pictures allow. We felt immediately at home and relaxed. There was so much room to spread out and enjoy. I couldn't wait to get up every morning just to sit on the deck and take in the view. Carol greeted us upon our arrival and checked in with us a couple of times. She even helped out my husband who was having some joint pain. We felt like family. And, we fell in love with Biscuit immediately!!
If you are looking for a quiet place, where you feel taken care of in every way, this is it. We ventured into Bath a bit, which is such a cool place. We loved Reid State Park, which we were provided a pass for- another warm touch. The overall area of Georgetown is quaint and quiet, but still close to places with more "action". Truthfully, we didn't want or need to leave the house. Just stop at Shaw's in Bath for some provisions and come and relax!! Time truly does slow down at East Ledge. Thank you Michael and Carol! We cannot wait to return💗 Pam and Craig Lapoint. West Warren, Ma.

Amazingly peaceful getaway on the Maine coast
Time slowed down while at East ledge - a sign of a great vacation. Enjoyed the peace and quiet with a lovely view. The ability to easily walk to 5 Island Lobster and make a quick drive to Reid State Park make this an excellent location. Also took under an hour to get to Damariscotta, Pemaquid point and the Botanical Gardens. Can't wait to go back - maybe next time we will bring a kayak.

North Atlantic Paradise
East Ledge cottage weds the the most perfect accommodations with the most picturesque vista you can imagine about Maine. The tide floods and ebbs just feet from the front porch. The living room furniture is extremely comfortable; the bedrooms are perfectly sized and well closeted; the three bathrooms provide maximum privacy; the front and side decks are perfect spaces to watch the sunrise in the morning and the gloaming of the early evening. It's all perfect.

Spectacular Maine Waterfront Getaway
This is a lovely waterfront home on a small inlet on the Maine coast. The amenities were very nice. There is the wharf area and Reid State Park very nearby along with some hiking trails. Bath is 15-20 minutes away and we went to Boothbay several times during our stay. All in all, quite lovely.

Beautiful stay in Five Islands
Our family absolutely loved the stay at East Ledge in Five Islands. You just can’t beat the location and the amazing view that we gazed at all day long. The property was gorgeous inside and out and everything we could possibly need was available. Carroll was very helpful when we arrived and was available if we needed anything at all. An excellent vacation for all of us and we fully expect to return soon!

Amazing August Getaway!
We had such a great time during our stay. The friendliest host came by to give us info on the house and the area.
The house itself was clean which was very important to us due to the pandemic.
The view from the house and from the deck was refreshing, and it was really cool to see the tide go in and out of our cove.
There is a gas grill and a fire pit which we used every day.
The house is located in a walking distance from Five Islands where you can see lobsters being loaded off boats and order food in the same place.
We highly recommend this house!

Beautiful Cottage
We stayed at East Ledge Cottage for 2 weeks in August. It was exactly as described and we were happily surprised that anything we desired was available to us. Beautiful location, sunset/sunrise, wildlife viewing, beach closeby, hiking, kayaking, firepit to make smores (even wood was provided), gas grill, any kitchen appliance you would ever need (we made bread with the automatic breadmaker). Kids had a great time too (ages 1-10). I wish we had more time to do puzzles and read some of the great books! We loved the selection of Maine destination books and maps of the islands. Michael and Carol are great hosts - we enjoyed learning some of the local history from Carol. They were close by but respected our privacy. Would love to come back!

P
My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at East Ledge Cottage for a week. The home met all of our needs, and exceeded our expectations. It is in a private and quiet location with a great view overlooking the Sheepscot River. It is conveniently just a short walk (½ mile) from the Five Islands Lobster Co. where you can enjoy whole Maine lobster, lobster rolls, or other seafood offerings. The owner lives just down the road, less than 1/10 of a mile. She is a wealth of information on not only all of the features of the house, but also of the area. She can give recommendations on places to visit, restaurants, etc. If you have any problems or questions regarding the house, which we did not, there would be no problem in resolving the issue I'm sure.
The home was spotlessly clean and is very well maintained. Beds and other furnishings were comfortable. The full kitchen is very well equipped with plenty of dinnerware, utensils, appliances, etc. Although we did not prepare large meals, there really is nothing wanting in that regard.
The bedrooms and associated closets are quite large and comfortable. The master bedroom on the ground floor has an in suite bathroom and large walk in closet. A half bath on the first floor is an added convenience. The two upstairs bedrooms are quite large, and share a full bathroom with shower. There was an ample supply of bed linens and towels of excellent quality. It should be noted that like most homes in coastal Maine, there is no air conditioning. The first three days of our stay it was unseasonably hot, with temps in the 80's during the day. There were fans in each bedroom, and a ceilng fan in the living room. We did not find it uncomfortable, in spite of the heat. The rest of the week was cooler, and the fans were not needed at all.
All in all, we would highly recommend East Ledge as an ideal rental if you are staying in the Georgetown area. We have no complaints at all, and feel that it was not only perfect for our needs, but an excellent value as well. The only caveat is that if you plan to prepare meals and eat at the house, you would be well advised to stop in Bath at one of the grocery stores before heading into Georgetown. Options for purchasing groceries are quite limited even in normal times, and during the COVID pandemic, the options are even fewer in the area around Georgetown.

Lovely getaway for those who love the sea and quiet
We enjoyed our time at East Ledge. The house was clean and totally serviceable. The owner, Michael and his parents, were kind and accommodating. We enjoyed watching the lobster boats working their traps and the sailboat further out from the cove. My parents spent many hours on the deck watching the water. No easy place to launch our kayaks (although Michael says he has plans for a float in the future), we were still able to take them down over the rocks and enjoyed exploring the harbor nearby. The owner provided a pass to Reid State Park -- only 10 minutes away -- and we spent several days playing in the waves and sand, climbing the rocks and kayaking in the lagoon there. A wonderful chance to getaway during the pandemic and maintain social distancing.

Another great week
Once again we had a wonderful family week at East Ledge Cottage. Despite the limitations imposed by the pandemic, since crowds were smaller, we found we were able to enjoy the same beaches, hike the same trails and best of all, just hang about the house, watching the kids fish off the rocks out front. Kayaking is limited to high tides, but hopefully the dock will be installed by next summer!

Quiet and nature
This is a very nice house in a great location. We especially
enjoyed the space in front of the house overlooking the water under the trees. We went on several excursions,
and I particularly recommend Reid State Park (a 10 minutes
drive from the house), the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta, the Pemaquid point and the La Verna preserve (all within one hour drive)

Relaxing
This was our 2nd time at East Ledge and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. We love the view and the grounds. The kids love to explore and sit by the campfire in the evening. It’s a place we can’t wait to get to and hate to leave.

A visit to wonderland
Stunning views indeed! Whether watching the lobster fishermen haul in their catch, or the full moon cast its reflection over the water, we had it all. And then some! Kitchen was amazing, toys and games for the kids, plenty of shaded yard for playing and relaxing...a really wonderful place for our family vacation. Thank you Carol and Ritchie for being so welcoming and available!

Beautiful, peaceful, and comfortable with unforgettable views
We had a wonderful week staying at East Ledge. The house is extremely comfortable, and the location can't be beat! Water on both sides of the house meant gorgeous views in every direction, and incredible sunsets and moon rises. We had coffee on the deck, saw what we think was the same heron almost every day, and roasted s'mores by the fire at night. Our only regret was the lack of a dock made it difficult to put in our canoe, but that would not prevent us from returning to this lovely house in the future.

Truly, a retreat away from it all!
This wonderful home is the perfect place to retreat to if you are looking to remove yourself from the stressors of life and just relax into being. The house has been beautifully remodeled and has everything you need to make your stay feel like a like a second home. The surroundings are peaceful, tranquil, and serene. The only sounds you will hear are birds ( osprey, gulls, kingfisher, and eagles), and the lumbering sound of the lobster boats as they collect from their traps and bring them to the nearby pound. We also saw porpoise, loons, and seals while sitting on the outside deck. There is plenty to do if you venture out and lots of good restaurants only a short drive away.
We had all the privacy we were looking for, even though our delightful hosts Carol and Rich were close by if we needed anything. We fell in love with Five Islands and are grateful that for us, it is only a few hours away from home. Without a doubt we will return again and again.

Exceptional cottage on Maine coast
My family of 5 felt as if we were staying at a home and not a cottage. The location is phenomenal with so many coastal activities close by from kayaking right from the property, Reid State Park (a family favorite), hiking nearby Nature Conservancy trails, or just simply watching the rise and fall of the ocean and the lobster boats coming and going. Enjoyed momma deer and two babies frequenting the cottage grounds! Would stay here again (thinking 2 weeks in the future); the cottage is well stocked with everything needed to cook meals, linens for an entire week's stay, and exceptionally clean.
