Wish I could give more stars! I consider Glenn a friend now - he was so helpful in making this trip perfect (other than we needed to stay longer than a week!). Our kids and husband and myself all say this was one of favorite vacays ever. Just wish we’d scheduled more time just to stay at property. Next time! The kids are already talking bout when we can go back. Don’t hesitate to book this one!

Glenn was very helpful and sent us lots of information before the trip to help us plan. The house is beautiful and plenty of room for our 8 adults and 2 children. Everyone loved the water slide which we even did at night (there are lights). We saw howler monkeys and lots of birds including the peacocks that roam the grounds. We went into La Fortuna for a fun chocolate plantation tour but spent our other two full days enjoying the house, pool, grounds, waterfall, and golf course. Having air conditioning in the bedrooms was great. Wear insect repellent when down by the river.

First off, Glenn is a beautiful human being that will help you every step of the way! The love and hard work for this beautiful place shows. The flora and fauna there is incredible. The pool and slide are absolutely fabulous and fun. Our whole family loved it. The slide is super fast. The hiking trails are nicely manicured. It was super fun swimming in the river and sitting by the waterfalls.The patio is so lovely and enjoyable to hang out at. There’s really cute restaurants within 10-20 minutes. We did alot of adventures and Glenn was super to work with. He made reservations for everything we wanted to do and also told us how to do a few other ones we were thinking about doing. It was such a great, memorable vacation. Great host, great house, great property, great location. Pura vida!

We loved our stay here! The pool, slide, roaming peacocks and birds were a hit with the kids. We loved sitting outside and watching the birds in the morning, looking out over the lake, and hiking the trails. We had two different chefs come to cook who were both amazing. The location was a way from the hustle of Fortuna, but close enough for us to take a few day trips there. The beds were all comfy, which allowed us to wake well rested for our days. Glenn answered all of our questions promptly and was full of knowledge. Thank you for this lovely stay, we can't wait to come back!

We loved our stay at Villa Encantada. The whole family loved the water slide and we also enjoyed the fishing, hiking and golfing. Nuevo Arenal is about 10 minutes away and has plenty of dining options. Glenn was an amazing host and truly cared about our experience.

We visited Costa Rica for the first time, and Glenn made this trip the best experience! The property and house were unlike anything we have ever experienced, and I doubt there is another property like it in the world. The amount of care that has gone into and continues to go into this property is off the charts! Glenn goes above and beyond to make sure his guests are comfortable, happy, and enjoying a once in a lifetime vacation. We loved the trails, the pool and slide, the golf course, and all the many other amenities at the house. The chef and his staff were amazing with fantastic food. My friends and I had a fun filled week exploring Villa Encantada, Nuevo Arenal and La Fortuna. Between the landscape, hiking, lake, kayaks, pool, waterslide, and golf course there is enough to keep you entertained for a week without leaving the property. We did venture out on a few day trips to La Fortuna to do river rafting, the hanging bridge tour, Tabacon hot springs and sloth tour. Glenn arranged the tours for us and gave us great guidance! The rafting tour is a particularly great value as it includes lunch and sugar cane demonstration too! Be sure to visit Chocolate Fusion cafe across from the church when in La Fortuna.
Our favorite dining spots in Nuevo Arenal were Los Platillos Voladores (Italian), Tom Pan German bakery, and Gingerbread restaurant for amazing dinners!
We also cannot say enough things about Glenn’s kindness and expert guidance. You are in good hands with Glenn!

This was our first time in CR, and if I return I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Nuevo Arenal is a quiet little town that was perfect for a home base while traveling around the country. This home is amazing for all ages with plenty to do in your down time. Glenn is a great host and was also helpful in lining up many of our activities.

This is an absolutely beautiful property and exceeded our expectations. It was perfect for our needs. We saw monkeys iguanas and red dart frogs right from the yard not to mention so many different and beautiful birds including toucans. A bird watchers paradise. The pool is fresh water no chemicals and refreshing. Waterside was a hit though might be a bit fast for little ones. Pond is stocked with lots of easy to catch fish and fun for young and old. House has everything you need and essentials are close by. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and is obvious that the home and property has been a true labour of love by our host. This property has no words. It is breathtaking in everyway. The owner is absolutely fabulous and attended to all our needs including booking rides and excursions. Its a dream property to say the least. There is only one restaurant that is walkable but has a beautiful view and great food. If you like hustle and bustle this is not the place for you, but if you want some serenity and beauty this place does not fail to deliver.

It really is a great property. We experienced a fair bit of rain during our stay, which is odd for February. The nice thing about the cooler weather was that we were able to enjoy all the outdoor activities, which would be harder in 30 C temperatures.

We had been in Tamarindo for a week, which was great, and where the temps were in the high 90's. This was a refreshing change of pace. My kids are young - and spent all their waking hours in the fresh water pool (!) and on the pond. They fished and they frolicked.
Glenn offered that we could check in early and stopped by a few times to ensure all was well. His restaurant recommendations were great.
It is a massive effort to keep the place in condition and so there is always some improvement underway, which is normal and wasn't an issue.

A wonderful slice of paradise! The property is as amazing as it looks. Many restaurants and a small grocery store within 10 minutes. Excursions about an hour away. Plenty to do, or just stay and relax.

Our introduction to beautiful Costa Rica was a tad challenging. Listen to Glenn when he advises you to avoid driving at night if possible. Due to flight delays and car rental issues, our drive to Villa Encantada was 60% in the dark; not recommended for first time visitors for sure. After our harrowing drive, we found the Villa and all the stress from the trip magically disappeared! The Villa is exactly as described and Glenn is a phenomenal host. He is proud of his property, deservedly so; it is a peace of heaven. A perfect place for rest, adventure and relaxation. We took advantage of the trails, pool/slide and golf course. Make sure you take some time to enjoy the property, a lot of thought, love and hard work went into developing it. Glenn is always available to answer questions, book excursions and follow-up with any concerns his guests may have. We will definitely return, next time armed with familiarity of roads and local drivers and less luggage! Thank you, Glenn, the best VRBO we have ever experienced!

The Villa is truly an enchanted paradise! My boys (15, 14, and 8) loved playing on the water slide, in the pool, and in the pond. I loved hearing all the different sounds of nature including howler monkeys and every type of bird imaginable. Glen was a phenomenal host and gave us excellent recommendations on what to visit, where to eat, and things to do. I cannot say enough good things about Villa Encantada.

The grounds and house are absolutely incredible. Pics don’t do it justice. Glenn was incredible in his communication and helpfulness. I’d recommend booking everything thru him for excursions. Also, I’d plan on at least a couple of days with “nothing” planned to enjoy the property.

It was amazing! All my friends loved it, Glenn the host was so welcoming,nice and very helpful with my stay. His communication was great. Answered all my questions and more. Went here for my 30th and he help set up the events/Itinerary, plus got a birthday banner to surprise me. My family and friends also felt glenn was amazing, and even felt like he was another family member. One friend said glenn is her guy and would trust him with her life. Lol
my little brother is 6 and loves the outdoors and fishing. He highly enjoyed the poud fishing, lake fishing and gorgeous trail. Will definitely be back!

A beautiful jungle retreat. This 40 acre property has so much to offer. A beautiful Costa Rican themed house with multiple decks. A pool with a fast and fun water slide. Jungle hiking. A fun little challenging par 3 golf course and so much more. But what made it extra special was our host, Glenn. My husband and I stayed here for a few days and wish we would have stayed longer. We absolutely loved everything about this place. Ot is a great place to escape and relax. The flora and fauna are amazing. The pool and trails are spectacular and fun. We explored all over the property, caught a couple fish, fed the iguana, read on the patios, went down the slide not enough times, and got massages. Glenn was so helpful and just an overall good human. Next time we are coming back with the family. Highly recommend a stay here.

Glen's property was better than we were expecting. Our family of 5 had the most wonderful time and the highlights were first having Glen as our host. He was so helpful with everything from organizing a fun filled day adventuring off the property, to giving us dinner recommendations and overall showing us the Costa Rican hospitality. True gem of a human. The grounds of the property are breathtaking. The pool/slide were the biggest highlight for our entire family and we spent most of days/evenings at. The pond was awesome for kids to fish at and we loved walking the trails. You can truly spend your entire day at the home and not be bored. Not to mention all the wildlife surrounding you. This property was definitely the highlight of our trip! We wish we could have stayed longer. The house was clean and beautiful! And the property had every kind of tree, flower, and plant imaginable and perfectly manicured. The entire family loved exploring the land every day and finding something new. The kids loved the pool/slide, golf course, hiking trails, and lake/kayaks. There is so much to do in the area, but so much to do at the house you never really need to leave. Glen, the owner, was so helpful and we really enjoyed talking with him and getting to know him. With regards to no AC: we are from Florida also and we felt very comfortable. It is cooler here than Florida and with the windows open and fans on, we didn’t have any issues. Plus you can just jump in the cool pool if needed:). Thank you for allowing us to stay at your amazing place! We will never forget it!

Very cool, unique house. Great for all ages. Kids and adults loved the slide, golfing, hiking and fishing! The cooler temps were such a pleasant surprise. Rain everyday but not enough to hamper. We would book here again. Glenn was great to work with!

My family (46, 43, 18, 13 & 73) and I just returned from an eight night stay at Villa Encantada and it exceeded our expectations. Our host, Glen, met us at arrival and gave us a personal tour of key elements of the property and house. The 40-acre property is meticulously maintained and more than just a rental for Glen, it is a labor of love. Glen graciously scheduled all of our excursion prior to arrival. We highly recommend all three of the excursions; they were ATVing, Class 3 & 4 whitewater rafting, and the hanging bridges. When at the house my mom loved the bird watching, my sons lived on the water slide, my daughter became a critter photographer, my husband used the guitar provided and I treasured the time with family. One of my favorite moments was when we arrived home one evening and realized that there are huge toads and frogs that come out at night; we used our cellphone flashlights and went on a toad hunt. I would be remiss if I didn't mention Chef Tyron. Oh my goodness, he is awesome. We had him come cook for us four nights. It was such delicious food and more than we could eat. Our favorite meals were the Costa Rican affair. I think you can tell from my review that we loved our trip. If you are looking for a great family spot for all ages then this is it. It provided the perfect combination of relaxation and fun activities.

I loved seeing so many different types of animals around the house. We saw monkeys, iguanas, frogs, toads, and so many kinds of birds! The house itself was beautiful and the host was incredibly welcoming. 10/10. (Piper) My favorite part of the place was definitely the slide.(Castle). Glen made check in and out easy. He helped us find a delicious restaurant for sunset. The gardens were beautiful. The bugs and birds and frogs were so cool- not like the ones in Florida. My husband and I chose Villa Encantada to be a place where we could just relax and take in the beauty around us. From bird watching in the early morning (the bird chorus starts around 4:30); kayaking on the pond or Lake Arenal after breakfast (Glenn arranged for the groundskeepers to take a kayak down for us, and we didn't see another soul on the lake for two hours); zooming down the waterslide in the heat of the midday sun; hiking the trails, golfing/putting, or playing horseshoes in the late afternoon; quietly watching the sunset or stargazing while listening to howler monkeys at the end of the day; you can't help but feel that all is right with the world. With all there is to do and see right on the grounds, there was no reason for us to leave except to go to the store or grab dinner at a local restaurant. (We loved the restaurant Tinejas Arenal -- the view is stunning, especially at sunset.)
The flora and fauna are so diverse, we noticed something different every time we stepped outside. Some of my favorite sightings were toucans, herons, blue jeans frogs, a large iguana, and Glenn's pet peacocks. The grounds are so very beautiful with tons of gorgeous flowers. One thing we did't see -- mosquitoes!
Glenn is a GREAT host. He will be as present or as distant as you'd like, but I encourage you to spend some time with him. He has great stories and lots of recommendations about the area.

Glenn’s property is simply magic. From the expansive grounds to Glenn’s communication and willingness to help with anything, this is a unique destination and well worth the cost per night. I actually think Glenn could easily charge more for the property per night.
If I had to give one piece of advice to travelers it would be this: If you come during the summer and in the hotter parts of the year, be aware it’s going to take a few days to get used to having no AC in the house. The spring is great to cool off in and numerous fans are provided, but we’re just so used to air conditioning (being from Florida) that a few people in our party were uncomfortable for the first night.
I would stay at the villa again with no hesitation.
Things to do: definitely the horseback ride at Don Tobias and go to the Baldi hot springs after. Definitely have chef Nixon or Tyron come and cook a meal for you at the Villa. Also the Pontoon boat ride on lake Arenal is very relaxing. The German bakery in town is great and the Hotel La Rana serves German classic dinner and other options. Cafe Macadamia is great for lunch as is Equus BBQ.

I stayed here with 5 other friends for a friend's 40th birthday vacation. This place is amazing! The activities available on the site for you and your guests alone are amazing. It was unbelievable that we had a water slide, pool, pond, hiking trail, golf course, waterfalls and kayaks all to ourselves. Glen was great with the communication. The property is just fantastic and we could have stayed so much longer! BUT, one thing that I missed in the listing was that there is no air conditioning. At first, we were all shocked and very warm, but there are many, many fans in the rooms. And, once the windows and doors (with necessary screens) were opened, we were actually comfortable and sometimes cool at night. All in all, this was a wonderful stay!
