The reviews led us to expect an outstanding experience, but sadly this was not the case. There was no mention in the description of the steepness of the driveway - we left our car at the top, not wanting to reverse up a hill with a sharp bend in it! - only to find the same thing applied to the staircase, which was steep and narrow, difficult to carry cases up. The “equipped” kitchen had just a toaster oven and two hot plates to cook on, with a rather warm refrigerator. The washer and dryer worked fine on first use, but subsequently the washer did not empty. There was no privacy in the bathroom as the toilet was as “open plan” as the tub and shower, and, most inconvenient of all, the house had no WiFi. No complaints about the location or the views, and, in fairness, the owner has agreed to refund us a portion of the rent for the nights we didn’t stay. On re-reading the description on VRBO, it seems that all the glowing reviews were written in 2017 or earlier - perhaps the place hasn’t been updated since? Would not recommend.

This is our second stay at Pirongia Villa and once again it did not disappoint. Lovely villa, up in the tree tops with gorgeous golfcourse views. Equipped with everything you need and more. Relaxing ambience, perfect for a couples getaway. Hosts Christine and Tom are friendly, prompt and accommodating. Highly recommend.

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Villa for a much needed retreat celebrating our wedding anniversary. The privacy, views, outdoor spaces, huge spa bath and shower, super comfy leather couch, king bed with flat screen tv (we Netflixed and chilled lots) were wonderful. Downstairs tv could do with updating but overall we enjoyed our weekend stay.

This is a cute one bedroom cottage with amazing views of St Andrew’s golf course, from the upstairs balcony. It has a huge shower with good water pressure. Downstairs in a tiny kitchen, lounge area and small dining table. I was slightly disappointed with the fact that the images on Stayz had a gas hot plate & oven but this was missing and instead there was a 2 burner electric tiny oven. The balcony off from the first floor was great. I would recommend reaching this destination during day light hours as the drive way is quite steep but then flattens out. Basic necessities were available. Upstairs king size bed was comfortable.

Our stay was great

A perfect spot for a couple to have some R&R! It was wonderful for our couple of days away and close to many Peninsula attractions. There is a great view from the upstairs bedroom and sitting on the deck for afternoon and morning tea was lovely. We would be happy to stay again.

A quiet, cosy, simple but quirky getaway with great views from upstears, and so near to the best back-beaches and all that the Peninsula has to offer.

We had a lovely time at this property. A 5 minute walk to a beautiful beach and short drives to all attractions on the peninsula. A pretty view of the golf course from the bedroom, and glorious sunrises that insist you have great days ahead. The owner responded promptly to our questions and in a friendly manner.

Good location, bedding comfortable, close to beach, heater very effective, great communication with owner. There were plenty of brochures to browse through.

The views from the upper decking are stunning, looking over St Andrews Golf Course and back towards Arthur's Seat. Enjoyed a glass of wine or 2 there! Was a beautiful little property, perfect for a couples weekend. The view was spectacular and only a short walk from the beach. Christine (the host) was very accommodating and even allowed a late check out which really allowed my partner and I to make the most of our trip. Would recommend to anyone!

The property is pleasant enough and the balcony and view is great. Unfortunately however, it lacks a few fundamentals such as: 1. No bath matt 2. Very few plates, glasses and dish washing utensils 3. No fly screen which means you either leave the doors open (which invites flies and other insects indoors) or keep them closed, which makes it very hot/stuffy 4. No wifi 5. The TV basically doesn’t work when it’s slightly windy as there’s a tree branch which knocks the antenna causing the screen to pixilate

Good experience very quiet as we like and slept better on the second night once we worked out that the noise was the timber moving which was fine.

Very cute little house with beautiful views and everything we needed. Will definitely be back, had a lovely time
