We had an amazing stay. We had problems with the AC in the second bedroom but the property manager was on top of it before we got there. It wasn’t resolved but she quickly responded. We would definitely stay at this property again. It felt like home.

I rented this condo for our family of 5-me + husband, 2 college age kids, and our 15 yo.We needed a place to fit our family comfortably, a decent kitchen for preparing breakfast & lunch, a nice view, and wanted to be able to walk to the beach, and a/c. This hit all our wants except for bedding. Had good communication with the property management team ahead of time, particularly Mele, who was kind & helpful. This is in a small condo complex and we rarely saw other tenants the entire time we were there. Parking was ample and we never had a problem getting a spot. It is a bit tight and the driveway is very steep and we scraped the bottom of our rental car almost every time. Oops! For the most part, we were very pleased with the condo. The very best thing about it is the view. Incredible and relaxing. The "bed" for the 5th person is a joke and I let management know this within our first couple of days. I realized they wouldn't be able do anything to mitigate during our stay but NO ONE who weighs more than 40 pounds could sleep on that thing. It is very old and the "mattress" is very thin and narrow. Our son slept on the couch, which worked out ok, but should not be advertised as having a 5th sleeping spot. Kitchen is well stocked and new-ish, bathrooms older and could use remodeling, king mattress needs to be replaced (again, told mgmt while we were there.) as we had to struggle not to roll to middle. Overall, would rent again for view if bedding were upgraded

This property is fantastic, and the view is amazing! We saw sea turtles swimming right out of our unit. The beds were comfortable, and so was the furniture. The kitchen was stocked nicely. We thought the location of this property was perfect. We were within walking distance of a local beach(less than a mile), and the neighborhood was a great area in which to enjoy my morning walks. I highly recommend this property.

The condo, situated right on the coast, had incredible views of life in the sea (sea turtles, spinner dolphins). The sunsets were also spectacular. We enjoyed sitting on the lania and visiting the local Poipu beaches. We would stay here again if we return to Kauai.

We absolutely loved this condo. It was immaculate and very nicely decorated. It’s right on the water but not a sandy beach but the beauty and sound of the waves all day and all night was truly therapeutic! You can hike down the rocks and it’s so pretty. The AC works great. The furniture was comfortable. The master bed was soooo comfy and soft. We would definitely come back!

Poipu Makai was great and we enjoyed our stay. The views were amazing and check in was a breeze. The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. Like other reviews mentioned the parking is a little tight but not as bad as I was expecting after reading some of the reviews… we had a Jeep Gladiator and had no problems using the top parking area. We parked in the bottom lot one time and it was doable but a little tight getting out. There was also always plenty of spaces available on both the top and bottom lot and we were always getting in late from our adventures. Vicki was very nice and gave us a late checkout so we were able to enjoy our last day on the beach and didn’t have to worry about leaving our luggage in the car or where we would shower before our flight.

First thing you’ll see in the reviews is there are a lot of steps to get to the property… but it’s worth it. The space is clean, bright, and the view is gorgeous. You can walk down to a lava rock ledge that overlooks the waves and be able to fall asleep to the sound of them every night. A/c works amazingly, so does the laundry. Only critique I would have is that there is no information on where to take the trash, the couch is uncomfortable, & the directions on which parking lot to use are not good enough. Overall we will 100% book here again on our next stay.

Nice place to be, great views, whales everyday and turtles just over the edge of the cliff. Didn’t care for the access and parking, 30 stairs from unit to the car. Dated, a little run down. I’d rated it as average (3) but that gives too negative of a vibe. Management got us in early- but then used that as the reason it was in better condition…

This property is literally on the cliffs overlooking spots where the sea turtles play. It was so fun to spend the mornings watching them in the surf. Our visit was short so I don't feel that we were able to fully embrace all that the location had to offer, but we appreciated being close to many of the shops and restaurants in the Poipu area. The VRBO itself is well appointed and lovely, quiet and yet convenient. Communication with the property group was easy and they left lots of helpful information about the area. I would definitely stay here again and again!

We were able to check in early (11am) because the property was cleaned the previous day. The view from the lanai was fantastic! Didn't see any whales but saw dolphins. The property is a little older and the pool was just sad, but they include access to the Athletic club which has a resort-caliber pool and amenities. The living room sofa and chair were also a bit past their prime. There is access to a lava rock shore that is quite impressive. Had to be careful about food on the counters because there were tiny ants that would gather if anything was left out - to be expected in Hawaii - especially an older ground-floor condo. Would definitely consider staying here again!

The 2 bedroom unit was nicely appointed, well equipped and came with a lovely club membership that included swim, pickleball, tennis, fitness and a nice casual restaurant.
We loved the sound of the ocean waves crashing on the lava rocks beyond our unit. Sitting on the terrace or the rocks below and watching the sunset was such a treat!
The unit was well located for most of our activities (hiking, dining, snorkeling, spelunking, golf, sea turtle watching and more). Each evening we had a rousing game before falling asleep to amazing stars!
We could have used another week!

Very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is stocked with everything you would have in your kitchen at home. Master bedroom was cozy with a comfortable mattress. Extra pillows in the closet. Very nice patio with comfortable furniture. Watched every sunset from the lounge chairs. Loved listening to the waves crashing on the rocks below as we went to sleep and waking up to such a beautiful view. We will definitely try to stay here again. We enjoyed our visit to this beautiful island. Management was responsive when texting a question.

The building is super easy to get to plus it’s close to everything.If you need a big car or struggle with backing in this is not the place for you. It’s tight especially on the lower level.
The unit is nice and the air conditioning worked well. The second bedroom smelled like a cat lived in it so did the second bathroom. We didn’t use them but beware.The primary bathroom is nice and the bed was super comfortable. There were plenty of pillows and blankets throughout. I only wish the linens were a little nicer.
The sunset views are spectacular! We had dinner on the patio a few nights. This unit is not an easy walk to a sandy beach. You will need to drive there. There are ants everywhere, kitchen, bathroom, living room. They are small but you can’t leave anything on the counter.
The unit doesn’t feel private. An hour after checkin, my wife just got out of the shower and a maintenance man let himself in to install a blind. We had no warning.
There is no blinds on the kitchen window and people walking through the unit can see in.
Second day we were leaving for dinner and there was a blender on the doorstep. Again no warning.
Later in the week we received a notice they needed us out of the unit to spray for bugs. Great but that day we had plans and needed the unit to get ready. Thirty minutes before they were scheduled to start, my wife gets walked in on by the exterminator. She was dressed but 2nd instance.
Even with all the issues we still had a great time.

Easy check in process and the host/manager were very communicative. Kitchen was well appointed with everything you need. We enjoyed this lovely home for our family trip to Kauai! The rental had everything we needed for a relaxing trip. We especially loved the sunset view from the lanai right on the water. With just a short walk down the beach path, we also had a great sunrise view. Having the beach equipment - umbrella, chairs, beach towels was really helpful. The air conditioning worked well and kept us comfortable. The owner was very responsive and corrected one issue. We appreciated the available parking, but be aware that there are steps from the parking to the unit when you have luggage to manage.

Previous 2 stays were at the condo just down the road from where we stay this was a 2 story condo and at our age requested a single story condo because my wife has a hard time with stairs. The E-1 was a very nice unit with no stair in the unit, BuTTT it was necessary to navigate 27 stairs to just get to the entrance door. Everytime we had to leave for somethig it meant navigating the 27 stairs, so the rep must not have been familiar with the property.Only thing about the condo was the eletric stove top. all burner knobs were worn and mis labels as far as the power controls. Burned many a dinner before we just stopped using stove top. Nice property except for that,

The Poipu Makai has a stunning location and view right outside the patio.
The week was humid and we were thankful for the highly effective and quiet air conditioning, which made for good nights sleep. The beds and couch were very comfortable with ample linens and towels. It was very nice to have a dishwasher and laundry. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook. We cooked all of our meals here.
The location couldn’t be better. We were able to walk to Poipu beach after dinner to watch sunsets. It was an easy drive to several beaches and Waimea canyon. The condo and surrounding area was quiet, peaceful, and well maintained.
There is a small short path just outside the condo that led down to the lava rock shore. We went down there several times because it was so accessible and easy. It was fun to explore the shore this way, especially with kids.
Check in process was easy and communication was great. I would recommend staying here and would do so again!

Amazing location, stunning view. It's possible to see turtles (we saw them every day!) and dolphins (we saw them once) right from the edge. The are great cliff walks very nearby, and beaches you can walk to in both directions. Stand up, look along the coast to your right, and there are stunning sunsets every evening!
The apartment was well stocked, and comfortable. The only thing is you'll be arguing about who has the bedroom with the view!
Everything was good about our stay. The only thing was the freezer was frozen shut when we got there! We manager to pry it open so we could make ice cubes, and use it for ice cream of course!
There was plenty of kitchenware, bedding, and there were some towels for the beach.
Sitting at the outside table was a delight, morning and night!

Truly enjoyed staying at this property. It was clean, tidy, and inviting. Decor and amenities were on point. No issues. I even liked the exterior condo suite entry door that provided us some additional peace of mind when using the screen door for air flow. Great location as Poipu/Koloa has a lot of options available. But the truly exceptional feature is the view from the lanai. We loved sitting outside to view the sunrises, sunsets, and everything in between. It was very cathartic. Everyone we ran into at the complex was pleasant and had that aloha spirit. I would definitely stay at this property for a future visit to the island. THANK YOU so much for your hospitality.

I bypassed other rentals when zeroing in on this one...thrilled that I did! Beautiful, inviting, comfy condo. Ground floor, walk out to grass, flowers, steps to walkable rock outcrop on the ocean. Sand not required for us. The Poipu Beach Athletic membership was a great surprise, used it & loved it, more than the plunge pool that was also inviting "at home". Great spot for exploring Poipu area and jumping off to Waimea beauty. We appreciated comments about many steps from parking lot, very manageable for spry folks. E 1, Everything 1st class.

The vacation rental in Poipu was wonderful. The view is absolutely beautiful, makes you not want to leave the condo.
Beds were comfortable. Place was clean and ready for our arrival. Nicely decorated as well.
Couple of things that need attention are the fridge/ freezer and knobs on stove. Otherwise good, and management was very prompt.
The only thing I would say that I was not a fan of was having to pay for use of the aquatic park, regardless if you used it. We went one day for approximately 1.5 hours. If I wanted that type of vacation I would have booked an all inclusive. Hawaii has the most beautiful beaches, you don’t need a spot like that.
Otherwise, would recommend this spot.

Overall a great place. Communication in regard to refrigerator/freezer issue ahead of time would have been appreciated. Lost some food in the freezer. When we called they were aware of the issue and a part was on order, but again no notice until we called. We enjoyed the location and overall the place was great. A well-appointed ground-floor condo with a large lanai opening on to a wonderful sunset view over the Pacific. The lounges on the lanai are a great location for sun for most of the day and protected from the trade winds. The unit is quite comfortable and an easy walk to Brennecke's Beach, Poipu Beach Park and Waiohai Beach. A gas barbecue grill and a small swimming pool are steps away in the condo complex. Access to the Poipu Beach Athletic Club is available and a huge selling point for the unit. We walked or ran the roughly 1.3 miles from the condo to the club everyday to work out. Good workout facilities and classes as well as resort-style swimming pool, tennis and pickleball courts. Poipu Makai E1 is a solid choice if you are looking for an oceanfront condo in Poipu.
