This house is lovely and private. We enjoyed walking on trails close by and to the lobster co-op. I loved sitting on the dock, canoeing and kayaking, and I even braved the freeIng water a few times. The house is wonderfully equipped with everything you need, and the ciew

Wonderful home for a quiet get away for our family of 4. Home was just as described. Kitchen had everything we needed from sharp knives to spices and cooking oil. Beautiful views of the river. Would highly recommend

Beautiful tranquil setting. Host was friendly and helpful. Views of the river are spectacular with a big deck and sunroom to take advantage of the views. I would LOVE to return.

Our experience at this cottage was among the best we've ever had. The house itself was appointed with everything you could want, and more. It was relaxing, inviting, charming, gorgeous (inside and out), and accessible to town while still feeling totally remote. We loved hearing loons down the river at night, and grilling local fish every day. The water in the river is highly invigorating to swim in! Having access to a canoe was so much fun for our family. We can't say enough good things about this incredible place. It's not often that we really want to go back to the same place, but with this spot, we do.

We enjoyed our stay and the hosts had so many thoughtful little touches (like kids toys and kitchen items). The deck view and the dock were one of our favorite parts of our trip. Highly recommend staying here.

The cottage is in a wonderful location overlooking the Sheepscot River. We enjoyed the short walk to the Clough Preserve where we saw over fifty Lady Slippers among the ferns and trees.
There are many nice outdoor spaces including a front lawn and a large deck facing the water. The sunroom was a great space to enjoy morning coffee or to read a book on a rainy afternoon.

We had a wonderful time at Rocky Road! The house is wonderfully clean, and has everything you could need. We really enjoyed canoeing, and watching the world go by from the deck. We can't wait to go back!

Great location! Easy access to Route 1 while secluded with a nice overview of the water. Walk to trails along the river with great birds and wildlife including seals on seal rock. Very comfortable house with all the amenities needed.

My husband and I with our two teenagers were very comfortable and happy while staying at the cabin. I like that each of the kids had separate bedroom. The view was breath taken and it was very quiet the whole time we were there. My favorite feature was the full-size kitchen with plenty of cookware and condiments, especially many Asian kind. Carol was very attractive in communication and making sure we could get help and support if needed. The entertainment, such as board games and TV app, was provided and it was great. Hot water was impressively hot and almost instant. With permission, we were able to host our small family gathering for a wonderful family lunch. We are very happy with our trip and definitely will return to this vacation cabin in the future. :)

Beautiful but a little hard to find in the dark! LOL! The owner walked us through it. The view is gorgeous! We had pictured it was a flatter piece, but the stairs to the dock are 60. My son went down them but definitely not me!
Beds very comfortable and close-by village Wiscassett is very charming. You would enjoy it, I think especially in summer to use outdoor canoe/boat. But we went at fall-time for the area’s leaf color.

I wish there were more stars to give this incredible property in Maine. I've stayed in quite a few VRBO properties over the years & this is the best one I've ever stayed in. The location, privacy & outdoor spaces were our favorite as well as all of the windows & the well-appointed kitchen. We appreciated all of the organization & notes to help find things. The games, puzzles, binoculars, etc were all fun to have on hand & the home is very thoughtfully appointed. The view is beautiful as well & the beds are very comfortable. I hope to stay again someday!

We had a lovely time at this beautiful home. The location is private and peaceful with sparkling views of the water. We enjoyed walking the property and the views from the dock. The solarium was a favorite spot for reading and chatting with friends. The kitchen and pantry have everything you might need to help create a fabulous feast. We enjoyed exploring the island and visiting the attractions on it. We also explored the nearby towns and festivals. The owners have taken care that we have every comfort accessible at their home. I would love to return to this property in the future.

Our recent stay was perfect! This home is beautiful and well equipped, neat and clean as you walk in the door. We pent our mornings in the sunroom or in the deck watching fish jump or lobstermen checking their traps, enjoying the outdoors. This home is well located for day trips to other midcoast towns and a sweet retreat at the end of a busy day. Looking forward to our next stay!

Being the first time staying at this vacation home, what a lovely surprise walking in the door to find such peace and tranquility. It came with everything we needed including lobster pots ! The home was well kept, clean and nicely furnished. Our host was only a phone call away. The views of the lake were spectacular ! There were many places to walk without even leaving the island. Looking forward to staying here again.

This was a trip to celebrate our 36th anniversary and this home was more than perfect for our week stay. Beautiful views of the sheepscot river and surrounding woodlands full of ferns, wild blueberries, pine & oak trees. Just a short walk across the island to a lobster coop where we got our live lobsters for dinner. The lovely home had everything to make us comfortable and a great selection of puzzles! We definitely hope to return and highly recommend this hidden gem on an island

When I think of what a vacation home should be like, this is it! First let's talk about the setting: Private, quiet, woods all around, a wonderful view of the river, nice front yard, with places to sit and take it all in. There is a great sun porch, where we spent a lot of our time, that had great views and a relaxing vibe. The large deck was also a favorite place to relax and watch the lobster boats each day. Now on to the house: spacious, lots of natural light, really nicely laid out, just charming. The beds were some of the most comfortable we have had, the kitchen and pantry had everything we needed to prepare our food, and we appreciated being supplied the body wash, shampoo, and conditioner so we didn’t have to pack any. The area: the island is completely wooded, and I believe the lobster coop may be the only business on the island. Nearby Wiscasset is a wonderful, historical village that was a delight to explore. We had a very enjoyable stay, and our host Carol was great and very helpful. Highly recommend this lovely home!

We wanted a relaxing getaway to slow down and enjoy each other’s company. This house was perfect for that. We enjoyed the dock, the deck, the sunroom and the walking trails. So many places to hang out in the house!
We had everything we needed in the kitchen/bathrooms and the beds were comfortable. We couldn’t have asked for anything more.
We drove into Bar Harbor and took a boat tour to see the Puffins. Then went for a walk from the house and saw about 15 harbor seals lounging on a rock out in the water!
Very comfortable and welcoming.
Highly recommend this gem!

We had a wonderful long weekend with our family for a cozy and quiet time on the coast celebrating the holiday season. The house is lovely, very clean, and personable. Thank you to the hosts for sharing. We enjoyed watching the birds on the water, a visit to see the lights at the Botanical Garden, trails on the conservation land up the road, and trips to downtown Wiscasset for Treats. Thank you!

My mother and I had our first VRBO stay at this wonderful Westport Island home and could not have been more pleased with our stay! We're Mainers, but if I were visiting Maine, this would be a top spot --peaceful and private, but close to all that the Midcoast area has to offer visitors, and an easy ride for a day trip to Portland to the South, and great hiking and other outdoor adventures further north. A quintessentially Maine house in the woods --and with water views!
The house is open, airy, cozy, comfortable, immaculate and has all the basics and many extras. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the pots, pans, appliances and dishware you would need, but also includes many cooking staples so you don't need to bring them, or if you forget something. Same for toiletries and other touches like a bluetooth speaker.
We were there for a mother/daughter retreat and picked it for the view. We were fortunate to have perfect warm, sunny fall weather and had a great time hanging out on the beautiful deck, where there were comfy chairs and a table for dining and to work on the craft projects we brought along.
Carol was very helpful and gracious as we planned our trip, checked in while we were there, and I have no doubt that if things hadn't been perfect, she would have been attentive to resolving any problems we ran into.
We highly recommend this "hidden gem" and if we ever plan another Maine stay-cation we would be thrilled to stay here again!
The host was gracious and provided many nice touches that

My wife and I came to be away from IT ALL for a few days after visiting lots of family. Found peaceful restfulness for multiple color-filled autumn days. The opportunity to relax and take in views from the deck, sunroom, and dock are good for the soul!

After looking several times on VRBO for a suitable place to spend a couple nights on the coast of Maine, I came across this gem. This is a secluded cabin in the woods overlooking the water & has access to the water. It's quiet, clean, well appointed and the host was very kind, cheerful & helpful. We recommend this place & would return if the opportunity arose.

From the minute we arrived we knew we were home. This home was the highlight of our trip. We are already making plans to return. I am always hesitant to book on line but this is the best. If you want to stay in one place and see the mid coast book this. Carol responded to text promptly and there were no concerns about anything. We will be back!

Peaceful stay, loved the sun room. We cook a lot so all the extra cooking supplies was appreciated.

Property was just as described in the listing. Great sunrise from rear deck, comfortable early fall evening in the screen room. The remoteness yet close location to stores and restaurants was ideal. We would have liked to use the would stove but understand the caution for someone without experience in fires in a house. Easy access from Route 1 and directions supplied were clear and concise. Would be great for a family retreat.

Great, quiet spot on the Sheepscot River. Plenty of room, games & books for our stay. Kitchen was well stocked. House has a lovely sunroom to be enjoyed on sunny days. Down the hill in front of the house is a dock on the water with canoe & kayaks available.

Charming home with water front access! Host is very thoughtful in preparing home for guest which made our stay so much better! We look forward to returning to this home.

Worth the trip!
This was a wonderful place to spend our first trip to Maine. The location is very private and quiet, but just a quick drive from the nearest town. We loved the salt air and abundant shade and made good use of the canoe and kayak that were included with the property. We were visited twice by seals swimming in the river and enjoyed seeing the lobster boats coming and going each day. Wiscasset is very charming and we spent one morning touring the Old Wiscasset Jail. We had a blast on the puffin cruise out of Boothbay Harbor (about a 30-minute drive) and dined on lobsters from Sprague's one day at lunch. We took several hikes on the nearby nature preserve trails. The only downsides were that the fish weren't biting and the local lobster co-op (a short walk from the property) was not yet open for the summer. I highly recommend this property for families, couples and solo travelers. It was worth the long drive from Maryland, and we hope to return to Maine someday.

Perfect Getaway
Thoroughly enjoyed everything about this beautiful home on Westport Island. Great communication with host, perfect and detailed instructions for the property, everything you need for preparing meals and lots of suggestions for area activities. One highlight was buying lobsters right off the dock at the North End Lobster Co-op, which is a just a short walk from the property. Will definitely return for another stay.

Best house ever!
This property was incredible. Beautiful views as advertised and a nature conservation area within walking distance. The owner has everything you would need on site. Very well thought out plan for the needs of guests. I would rent this house every weekend if we lived closer.
