Very clean and cozy home. The owner is very easy to get in contact with and very welcoming. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone staying in the area.

We appreciated that house is on a street with very little traffic, with off street and garage parking. The house is within easy walking distance of St. Mary’s Campus. We were able to have meals at the dining room table, watching a squirrel in the backyard. We enjoyed some leisure time in the sunroom, and watched a little TV in the comfortable living room. Our son enjoyed using the treadmill. We have had the privilege of owning a couple of older houses so we didn’t mind the creaking of the old hardwood floors, as they are a part of the character of an older home. The bedrooms are comfortable as well. The helicopters coming in and going out from the hospital rooftop are a part of the neighborhood, having had a daughter life flighted to a trauma center we recognize they are literally saving lives. Denise communicated everything we needed to know and provides a nice place to stay with very comfortable accommodations.

Quiet neighborhood. Some helicopter noise. Cozy and comfortable. Nice to have our own rooms with queen sized beds in each.

Overall the property was a great spot to stay for a few weeks during a period of multiple medical visits. We did have an issue with a smoke alarm going off in the middle of the night (end of life for the device) and Denise was very quick to resolve it and have it replaced the next day when I contacted her. Favorite space in the house is the sunroom, very quiet, comfortable, and relaxing spot.

We had a really nice stay and the home was perfect for our needs since our family came to Rochester from different cities. We had everything we needed to prepare our meals. It was nice to be downtown so we could walk around town and nearby neighborhoods. We also walked to St. Mary’s Hospital and attended Mass at St. Mary’s Hospital Chapel which is beautiful! Our host was a great communicator and provided tips for our stay. We would definitely stay again if we are back in Rochester. Thank You!

A trip to the Mayo isn’t exactly a vacation, but this hostess goes out of her way to make things easy and our stay pleasant. This is a spacious, comfortable house in an excellent location.

Very clean house that is 1 block from Mayo Clinic. Our family member recovering from surgery enjoyed the sun room.

We have stayed in this home before and knew it would be perfect again. So very comfortable with quality linens and towels. Lovely location.

House was conveniently located to Mayo and surrounding area. Street had a low volume of traffic. Enjoyed sitting on the upper deck area watching the helicopters come and go. House is an older home with lots of charm. Worked out perfect for my brother and I. My brother loved the front room. The garage is for smaller vehicles for reference, cannot get an F-150 in there. Check in and out was simple. Thanks

Our 1 year old was being seen at Mayo all week and this property was very comfortable for my husband and I, our son and my in-laws. Everything in the home worked well. I brought a pack and play but there was one there in good condition so if we need to come back we’ll use that and pack less! We used the patio which is right off the kitchen a ton!!
Only complaint is the home is older and had very creaky floors.

We had a group of four stay at the property for our sons appointments and the house was in a great location, close to all Mayo buildings. The house was clean and met all of our needs.

We were in town for a week of testing at Mayo. The house could not have been more convenient. We walked easily to appointments at St. Mary's and were able to catch the shuttle for most appointments at the main campus. I love colonial style homes and the house had charm and everything we needed. My favorite thing was sitting out on the deck playing card games and drinking coffee. There can be a lot of helicopter noise, but we actually enjoyed watching them and never found the noise to be a nuisance. Denise was very helpful and her communication was great! She even gave us some extra time at checkout because my daughter was exhausted from her long week.

We were able to stay here and be within a mile's drive to the Mayo Clinic area. My mom was in for a surgery and it was nice to have the amenities of "home" without being in a hotel. We appreciated the stay and vintage-feel of the home. My dad is now inspired to do a little re-decorating in their home because of it.
I did accidentally take the garage door opener and a piece of laminated paper with me. My sister unknowingly packed it into the car before I could leave it on the table. When she took the bag out--I assumed she left the items on the table. About 11ish I got a call from Denise (owner) to return the items--which I very promptly did within 15 minutes. However, considering the circumstances I was dealing with my mom's surgery--I think Denise could have sounded a bit more understanding. If she deals with "Mayo Clinic" guests a lot and their situations--a bit better bedside manner would have been appreciated. Otherwise everything was good.

Like many of you, we stayed here during a stressful visit to the mayo clinic. The sun room gave us a perfect place to digest all the information we were getting, and to just relax in general. It was great match for us!

Location of property was perfect as we ended up needing a longer stay than originally planned. Our Host was able to accommodate our longer stay. We enjoyed the sun room for coffee in the morning and to unwind after all day at St. Mary’s in the evening. We enjoyed our stay.

We had absolutely the best time staying at the St. Augustine House. The property was so clean, comfortable and peaceful. We had everything we needed to spend a weekend visiting family, with a well appointed kitchen for making brunch, a lovely & sunny front room where we sat for hours, talking & reading. We were within walking distance for shopping & restaurants. We hope this home is available again the next time we visit family in Rochester.

We were absolutely thrilled with our stay at Denise’s St. Augustine house! She was extremely responsive to my questions before and during our stay. We needed to extend our dates twice, and she graciously accommodated us and made the process so simple!
The house was extremely comfortable and well furnished. The inclusions, such as a high chair and baby toys, made our stay easy and convenient.
The location to St. Mary’s campus absolutely cannot be beat! It was a very easy two minute walk door to door. A short 5 minute drive from the Gonda building downtown was also great!
I highly recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in Rochester!

Not Permitted with City of Rochester to be a Short Term Rental at the time of this review - Horrible
At the writing of this review, and following our stay at this sub-par property, we contacted the City of Rochester since short term rentals are required to be registered and hence inspected for safety of guests. We learned that this property is NOT registered which explained some of the safety concerns we had.
The garage leads to the dimly lit basement for entry to the home. There is a drain hose from the boiler laying across the walking path to the stairs. On the other side of the basement, there is an electrical cord from one of the three dryers also laying in the walking path. Both are significant tripping hazards as they are unexpected and due to the extremely bad lighting of that space.
Upon entry to the kitchen, there are white paint specs all over the floor. At first one would think that it was poor workmanship on cabinet painting until you realize the cabinet paint is chipping off of the cabinets and onto the floor (along with falling into the clean pots and pans). Who knows when the cabinets were last painted so it is unknown if this is old lead based paint or not.
There are no smoke detectors nor carbon monoxide detectors in the home.
The one fire extinquisher was stashed in the back of a linen closet on the second floor of the home.
There is mold in the upstairs bathroom.
We have reported this rental to the City of Rochester so that these items can be addressed for future guests.
The roof over the porch had structural support issues and in the middle of the stay, unannounced or coordinated with us, a handyman came out to fix it so, as he stated, "the roof won't fall down". I had walked home from the hospital to take a nap to find this man and his power tools at the home. I let the man continue to do his work and went back to the hospital as it was impossible to sleep over the saw and pounding.
From a cleanliness standpoint, we never slept in the beds. The linens were wrinkled, torn and stained which we have pictures of.
We checked to see if the downstairs sofa pulled out to make a bed and gagged on the amount of trash under the cushions.
One previous reviewer made a comment about safety - I understand now why. The sunroom while the best room in the house, only has sheers up. It is like being in a fishbowl as it faces the street. There are unknown people that tend to use the sidewalk in front of the home coming up to the front door so it is a little disconcerting.

Our time with family in Rochester was excellent and this home was the perfect landing spot for us! Denise was super pronto in replying to an internet question and was flexible in allowing us to check out an hour later when 10 was a problem. The home is warm with lots of cozy sitting spots for quiet close conversations and reading and the large dining table is perfect for gaming. Where one chooses to stay can make a big diff in the quality of the gathering and our group gives an enthusiastic 10 thumbs up to this place!

Beautiful home great location
We came to visit family and friends. There were 6 of us. Everything was really great! Location was perfect. Check in super easy. Very comfy and plenty room for everyone. I thought the beds were extremely comfortable. The Foosball table is in the basement unfortunately. There was only one bad thing but not a big deal at all. It has listed that they have a grill. They do but it was no good. I would suggest taking that off and throwing that away. They did tell me they don't maintain it so I was warned. We found one so it was all good. Would recommend and will hopefully be back.
