Thom and Nadeen were amazing hosts. They provided us prompt answers with any questions we had. The lake is beautiful, quiet, and so peaceful. We enjoyed bonfires almost every night and canoes and kayak during the day. We loved being close to the city but also the peacefulness of not being in it. All the maps and books helped us figure out what to do each day! Thank you.☺️

Very quiet area with beautiful view / sunrise. The kayak/canoe/jon boat were great for some fishing and exploring the lake. Sitting in the front room, if felt like the lake came right up to the house. Very relaxing environment. Beds were very comfortable. No A/C, which didn't realize when booked, but was not an issue, as the weather was great and plenty of fans in the house.

Loved the lake, loved the cottage. Perfect, relaxing stay for our family of four. Spent a lot of time on the water and around the fire pit. Location was very convenient for getting to various Traverse City spots. Hosts were wonderful.

Our family had an amazing time at the Artsy lake cottage. We felt right at home minus the gorgeous views from the large windows looking out at Bass Lake. The kids and I enjoyed fishing and my wife enjoyed kayaking and reading. Thom and Nadeen were so nice and helpful. Northern Michigan is a great vacation destination.

Remarkable in every way!
My husband and I have been traveling to the Traverse City area for about 6 years now and hadn't yet to "fallen in love" with our cabin/lakeside rental. Not the case anymore! We absolutely ADORE this property - the home, the peaceful, quiet surroundings, the hosts, the attention to details, the Everything about our trip this year was superb.
My husband and I especially loved sitting in the living space overlooking Bass lake every morning and evening (when we weren't outside on the dock or Adirondack's) listening to the family of loons and watching the quiet activity on the lake through the giant spread of windows.
Tom and Nadine were very warm, accommodating and accessible whenever we needed a question answered (which was rare because they were meticulous about supplying us with information about anything and everything). And when they passed through the property to access their boat or car, it was a treat to connect. They are lovely, interesting, kind humans who truly care about the land, their property and their guest's experience.

Beautiful stay at a lake side getaway
My family had a lovely time staying at this lake house which was centrally located and close to everything we wanted to do. The house was more spacious than we could’ve asked for and the Internet and cell coverage was good as well as A very clean and comfortable property to stay on.
They were very easy communications with the house and the facility had lots of activities including fishing that my son really got into. The lake was warm and very comfortable. There were lots of grocery stores and places to get your outfit for the week.
I’ve stayed at number of properties and this one was top Tier

Unique Cottage for Tranquil Getaway
The property is as described. Lake side with outstanding views. Charming cottage with fun decorative touches. Very comfortable beds and lovely linens. The hosts did an outstanding job communicating with us to ensure our visit was going well. My husband fished off of the pier and caught (and released) many Bass. There are water craft (canoe, john boat and kayak) for their guests to use. Our stay was very quiet and comfortable.

What a treasure!
We had a wonderful time exploring Bass Lake and the Leelanau Peninsula with this property as home base. The house was clean, homey, and in a great location. The lake itself is perfect for playing and paddling and has minimal boat traffic (an upside for us!). The homeowners Thom and Nadeen are wonderful, accessible, and helpful! Highly recommend.

Bass Lake Beauty
My son and I just spent three weeks basking in everything Bass Lake and the Traverse City area has to offer. This cottage is so quaint and cute, well located, and perfectly set up for a seamless lake holiday. And it also has a kind of warmth and comfort that is hard to describe and very rare in short term rentals. I feel so lucky that Thom and Nadeen share their special place. aaaahmazing.

One of our favorite family vacations ever!
It was really hard to leave our amazing July 11-18 stay! This past year has been a stressful one for many families, ours included, and our time at Bass Lake was exactly what we needed.
We pretty much only needed to bring some clothes, some food, and beach towels because the property is so well-appointed. Nadeen & Thom have thoughtfully included recommendations for anything and everything that one might wish to do in the area. It was our first time visiting Northern Michigan and we were struck by how easy it was to make short trips to do fun things together. That left us plenty of time to enjoy the house, which is full of gorgeous views, lovely rowing around the lake, excellent WiFi, multiple comfy seating areas (inside and out), stacks of games, beautiful books, a big dining table for delicious meals, and comfy beds. We hope to come back some day soon.
Thank you so much, Nadeen & Thom!

Bass Lake
My family and I had a wonderful stay during our weeklong trip at the property. The location is amazing as it’s close to many towns. During our stay we visited Traverse City, Leland, Glen Arbor and Frankfort. The house itself is quite spacious inside and decorated nicely with great views of the lake. We enjoyed taking the canoe and kayak out on the water as well as watching a great firework display on the lake on the 4th of July. Thom and Nadeem were very responsive and easy to communicate with when we saw them passing by on their way into town and offered good recommendations for things to do in the area. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to others!

Comfort with Character!
We rented the cottage from June 19 - June 26. The weather was not great, but, it did not dampen our great experience with this VRBO. Nadeen and Thom own the place, and we had great communication with them before, during and after the visit. The cottage is brimming with character; knotty pine, vintage gas stove top, funky art work, bright blue hair dryer circa 1978, nice coffee table reading, great games, etc. The beds are comfortable with very nice linens and covers. Wonderful commercial size washer and dryer allowed us NOT to over-pack. The cottage also has a great firepit, canoe, row boat, and kayaks. The views of Bass Lake from the lower porch, inside game room, or the new upper outdoor seating area are all great. We brought our small motor boat up, and Thom and Nadeen allowed us to use their dock (obtain prior approval per rules). The water of Bass Lake is kind of dark. It is certainly clean, but, don't expect the blue of Torch Lake. The place is so comfortable and so close to the many Traverse City sites, if you desire a day trip. We give this charming cottage our highest rating. We hope to return.

Beautiful relaxing lake views; great outdoor space and charming house
Our small family (2 adults + a 12-year old), spend a relaxing week+ at Nadeen and Thom's house. The house itself was spotless, colorful with interesting artwork, the beds & living room were very comfortable, and the kitchen is extremely well stocked. The space was more than we really needed, but that wasn't a problem. The outdoor space was great. We spent most of our time outside: grilling on the gas grill, having a fire in the firepit, reading in the outdoor chairs, kayaking, canoeing, etc. The lakeside view is so beautiful and calming. The house is located on a small road with neighboring lake houses, but noise from neighbors was not a problem. Depending on wind direction, you could sometimes hear traffic in the distance, and on a few of the days, the motorized boat traffic was a bit annoying, but none of that was terrible and was expected in advance. The owners made themselves available to answer all of our questions before and during our stay, and the house is stocked with information about things to do in the local area. We were grateful to meet Thom and Nadeen in person and to be able to thank them for sharing their beautiful oasis. This was a great house for us to relax in.

Relaxing Week
We had a wonderful week at Thom and Nadeen’s house on Bass Lake. Such an inviting house with a beautiful view of a peaceful lake. When you’re not relaxing at the house, all that the Traverse City area has to offer is just a quick drive away.

Great Lake house near Traverse City!
My family had a fantastic time in the house on Bass Lake. It was well equipped and the owners were great/helpful. The location is near Traverse City and other activities within the environs and were perfect for us. We really enjoyed sitting by the lake, listening to the loons and enjoying the serenity of the area. Would definitely rent again. Thanks so much!

Loved this place!
Very clean with interesting decor and well maintained. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and the fire pit down by the beach. Bass is a lovely small lake within short distance of Traverse City shopping, restaurants, beach, etc. The owners were very easy to correspond with and kindly allowed us to change dates at the last minute for an unexpected event. We would be happy to stay here again.

Bass Lake House
We were very happy with our 4 day stay at Bass Lake with another couple. The lake is beautiful and there is a great view of it from the lakeside living room that has large windows facing the lake. The house is cozy and I'd call the decorating retro and eclectic. It would have been nice to have a second bathroom, but that would probably be at the loss of the main floor laundry so that's also a big benefit if you're staying there for long.

Wonderful Family Vacation
Great place right on the lake. Close to basically anything you’d want to do while in Traverse City. Pretty good set up for families. Bass lake is very clean and peaceful. We’d stay here again.

Sublime!
Both the house and lake it's on are divine. We had 4 adults and 1 child and had plenty of room. In many rental houses, you're tripping over each other, but this was never the case. The living room that overlooks the lake is such a tranquil spot. We used the kayak, canoe and rowboat and rented a stand-up paddleboard for the week. We appreciated that the lake was quiet--not too much motor traffic. The house's proximity to Traverse City was nice, too. It doesn't seem that you're so close to civilization, but it's nice to have Meijer (and the restaurants of downtown TC) to close at hand. Great spot!

Comfortable cottage on a beautiful lake!
We had a wonderful stay at Nadeen and Thom’s cottage. It was very roomy and clean, perfect for our family of 6. The lake views were amazing! We enjoyed the views from the large living room windows. The kids had a great time using the canoe, kayak, and rafts provided with the house. Nadeen and Thom were excellent hosts!

“Up North at its Best”
Nadeen and Thom’s place is so cool. It was well stocked and easy to move into for the week. We loved the lake views and saw loons and deer swimming. Bass Lake is great for kayaking. The 4 islands make it interesting.
Nadeen and Thom couldn’t be better hosts.

Gorgeous Mid-Century Cabin on a Beautiful Lake
Two buddies and I spent a golf week at Thom and Nadeen's cabin and were most impressed. I'm a huge fan of mid-century architecture and design. I must have taken 20 photos of the interior to show my wife all the gorgeous lamps and artwork. There's a huge bay of windows overlooking the lake and the house is roomy and so, so comfortable. We loved it.
The location is great. I recommend the close by Francisco's Market and Deli for delicious sandwiches, pizzas and all your booze needs. It's a short drive into TC and the golf selections can't be beat.
Thom and Nadeen were perfect hosts. We got to meet them as they were returning from their own private island, where they have a cabin, in the lake that you can see from the house. Lovely couple who made us feel right at home. Many thanks!!

Awesome and relaxing stay! (Family of 6)
We had a great vacation with our 4 boys! We brought a air mattress just to make sure we all would fit and it worked out great. The kids never had nothing to do. With the boats provided we were always kayaking, canoeing, or row boating out and fishing...or simply fishing off the dock. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. One neighbor gave us some night crawlers and the other let us fish off their dock as well. The fire pit was very much enjoyed...making smores every night. We found a local pontoon boat to rent for a day and that was very fun too. We also did a lot of shopping and eating around Traverse City all week. The no AC was no big deal. It got nice and cool during the night with all windows open.
The only cons were:
-Shower pressure was very weak
-Water (shower, sink, etc) was a little 'lake smelly' but the water filter provided helped
