This was our favorite home we’ve ever rented. The property was beautiful and peaceful with an amazing view of the ocean. Loved the outdoor shower and looking up at the stars. The home was very well stocked with cookware and anything else we needed to prepare meals. The grill was clean and worked well. In our 2 week stay we only went out to eat twice because we enjoyed cooking/grilling so much while eating on the outside patio. The owner was so helpful and nearby but respectful of our privacy. She even set us up on a sailboat snorkel cruise. We will definitely be back and are so grateful to have spent time in this gorgeous home on this gorgeous property.

We're a small family of three (two adults, one 9yo) on a first time visit to any Hawaiian island. The big island and Kalia's house in N. Kohala turned out to be amazing strokes of luck. The 2BR house was fantastic and well stocked with beach and kitchen items. Kalia and her daughter were wonderfully warm and helpful, better hosts couldn't be asked for. We rented their car for the duration, highly recommended for reaching the amazing places around the island both close and far. Our stay was late Aug, early Sept which also worked well. Lot's of activities to join but fewer crowds and nice weather.

The home itself is a wonderful destination in its own right. The spectacular gardens competed with the stunning long view of the ocean and mountains. The host, Kalia, has anticipated any and all needs in outfitting the house. I can't find enough praise to share about this property that is truly a paradise.

I don't usually give five-star reviews, but this was the nicest rental we've ever stayed in. The house and gardens are stunning. The lanai was a wonderful place to spend time soaking in the gorgeous view, lovely flowers, chirping birds, and cooling breeze, perfect for sharing a meal or to read and relax. The kitchen was large, modern, and well-furnished. There was a wonderful flow to the house. The bathrooms were gorgeous. The outdoor showers were a delightful way to start the day. The house has snorkel equipment and boogie boards to borrow, which we greatly appreciated. There was plenty of room for two adults and two teens. It was peaceful and tranquil and beautiful. A perfect retreat! Don't hesitate! This place is heaven!

My wife and I spent the week at Peaceful Hale owned and hosted by a special lady named Kalia. We have stayed here before and decided we would like to come back. Just as we expected, our experience was flawless and relaxing. The property is immaculate and the landscaping is amazing. This was our first visit to The Big Island. The setting and location was perfect for our family. The house was wonderful! Relaxing and peaceful! Thank you Kalia for a great stay!!

We loved our stay! The beautiful tropical gardens surrounding the house are masterfully cultivated to give guests both privacy and gorgeous vistas of the ocean and coastline. The sunsets from the lanai should not be missed. The property is very clean, well stocked, and easy to get to. We appreciated the variety of beach and snorkel gear we could borrow. We will definitely be referring friends until we can return for another stay.

This must be the most beautiful rental we’ve ever stayed at. The views are spectacular from sun-up through stargazing at night. The lānai is perfectly set up to be outside with comfy lounge chairs, table and chairs, and a hammock. Landscaping is just stunning. Inside is also very comfortable for gathering and sleeping. The outdoor showers are so fun - just have to make sure you’re aware of the reverse temp controls. The owner does a great job respecting the land with soap products and composting. We lacked for nothing. I would very much enjoy coming back!

We loved our stay so much and we’re sad to go. It was so quiet and off the beaten ( but not too far away) path that we could really relax. So close to crystal clear beaches.

This is the second time we have stayed on Kalia's property which, in itself speaks volumes. The first time was in her smaller unit down the hill from the one we stayed out this time. This unit, the Peaceful Hale was just perfect for the two of us, although it would easily accommodate four. The house if beautifully furnished and restful. It is surrounded by fabulous gardens that screen all sides (except the magnificent ocean views) and the delicious fragrance of flowers drifted through the rooms. There was almost always a slight breeze to enjoy on the lanai, and the house itself was comfortable even after being closed up for most of a day. There were three tower fans for any times it was a little warm. The Hale is down a long driveway, far away from other neighbors. Its very safe because of the isolation. Not a dog barking was heard. Birds gently awakened us in the cool mornings. The kitchen was not huge, but it lacked for nothing in terms of cooking appliances and utensils. We enjoyed the master bedroom/bath outdoor shower every day of our stay - it was heavenly. Nearby Spencer Beach State Park was one of our favorite places to hang out, people watch, enjoy the beach and watch for whales. It was also fun watching the surfers and boogie boarders at nearby Kawaihae Harbor - also a great place for a picnic. For snorkelers, the Mahukona Beach Park, 10 miles away, provides a great, protected water entry point. And all the snorkel (and other beach) gear you would ever need is available in the Peaceful Hale garage. Kalia is a great host who is very pleasant and attentive. We would highly recommend the Peaceful Hale for couples and families. You won't want to leave.

This is the best house we have ever stayed in from VRBO! The house is so beautiful you don't even want to leave to go to the nearby beaches. We had an amazing time and already checking our calendar to see when we can come back. The hosts are kind and the home has everything you need. Loved it!!

My husband and I stayed three nights at this beautiful property in September. The nights were pretty warm but we were still able to sleep with the fans on and windows open. We were able to hear the people at the other rental property down the driveway a few times but it wasn't too bothersome. It was nice to be off the beaten path and the stars at night were lovely. Overall a nice stay.

This property is so magical, we couldn't believe we had found such an amazing property to spend two weeks on the island. We loved waking up to the sounds of all the birds who live in the gardens, the view is incredible, and you truly feel off the grid here... but with all the amenities. When you decide to pull yourself away from the Lani you are only a short drive to all of the best northern Kohala beaches. The house has all the beach equipment you will need: chairs, umbrellas, snorkeling gear, cooler bags, and sand toys. After a sunny day at the beaches or hiking around, Peaceful Hale is a comfortable place to come home to. The trade winds along with the ceiling fans eliminate the need for A/C. We used the outdoor showers everyday and my son loved the outdoor tub to splash around in. The kitchen is very well equipped and as a chef I really enjoyed having nice cookware and sharp knives! The beds are in great shape with high quality mattresses. We kept the house pretty open using the screen doors which invited the nighttime breeze in for a very comfortable sleep. Our son loved the geckos and exploring the grounds. Even cracked open a coconut from the tree for a little treat! Kalia is a gracious and kind host, she was very helpful and we loved our little run ins with her. We can't wait to come back!

It was too easy to get used to waking up in the morning to breathtaking vistas of the pacific, drinking Kona coffee while surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. Kalia was the perfect hostess, giving us tips on things to do and making sure we had everything we needed. She also has a stocked supply of boogie boards, beach chairs and snorkeling equipment: so no need to rent if you’re staying here. Truly amazing hideaway in paradise!

As with all the VRBO's we've used we were slightly apprehensive before we arrived. Would this property live up to its description and photos? Well yes it did, and much more. This is the perfect place for anyone who would like to enjoy Hawaii without the big resort bustle or even that of typical neighborhoods. The property is distant from neighbors, really an oasis, yet convenient to the entire west coast of the island, as well as trips across the island. The house was very clean and comfortable for two couples and truly had everything we needed. But I think the highlights are the privacy, the beautiful landscape and the incredible view down the coast from every room and the lanai. Our host, Kalia, is gracious and very helpful with any questions yet seemed to be invisible until you needed her. She is very fortunate to have this property and we all are very fortunate that she shares it. We definitely hope to return.

My husband, family and I work so much at home that this property was a perfect and well needed reset to our spirits. The sounds of nature and the view of island from the patio was incredible. There are many things to do locally and the beaches were fantastic. Thank you so much, Kali’a for putting together such a complete vacation spot. 5 stars doesn’t do this place justice. I don’t want to go home.

If you like the Kohala beaches (snorkeling lovers should), but don't much care for the large, glitzy, and fairly crowded Kohala coast resorts, and are looking for a great view, the absence of human-generated noise, nearly total privacy, and a lovely, spacious, and nicely decorated accommodation with a beautiful garden. you almost certainly will love this place. The area is bone dry but the house's landscaping is verdant; there is no A/C but the setting a couple thousand feet or so above sea level makes A/C unnecessary; there is only one indoor shower but there are two attractive outdoor showers with plenty of hot water and good water pressure (as well as a couple fillable outdoor tubs); and the house is not on the water but at least five or so great snorkeling beaches with live coral and fairly abundant sea life are only a 10-15 minute drive away. Plus, the house can easily accomodate two couples (there are two spacious and attractive bedrooms, both with nice views), the kitchen is very well-equipped, the interior lighting and wall art is attractive, and owner Kalia has furnished the place with a nice selection of tourist information, games, and beach equipment and toys. All this for a very reasonable price, especially by Hawaii standards.

What a gem of a place. Kalia has created an oasis of peace and tranquility that is perfect for anyone who wants to chill and getaway from the hustle and bustle of life. We will be back!

Our stay exceeded all of our expectations. The setting, the landscaping, the views and the ease and comfort of our stay had us longing for just a few more nights. Kalia was a fantastic host and made everything effortless for our family. We definitely will return again for a visit one day.

The view of the ocean, the bird songs, the gorgeous garden/landscaping, the outdoor showers/tubs, and all the beautiful art and decor made this home a dream to stay at. Kalia was incredibly helpful and loved meeting her and her cute dog when we first got there. Felt very private and serene and could have stayed there much longer than three nights. Very close to the small nearby town of Kawaihae that has amazing places for poke, burgers/fish tacos, and shaved ice (I mean what more do you need?!). Also was close proximity to many of the best beaches but at the same time felt totally separated from the tourist vibe of Kona. Also it was so nice that there was laundry and access to Beach chairs/umbrella/all the snorkel gear one would need. Would love to make it back here one day!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Location was perfect for us -- and out of the way retreat in North Kohala with beautiful views of the Pacific for the lanai, yet close to spectacular beaches. Loved the beautiful garden. Kitchen is unusually well stocked. Fish store close by has an excellent selection of fresh fish that we grilled many an evening on the lanai. Kalia is a kind and thoughtful host. An unqualified recommendation.

An all-time VRBO find! Away from the crowds and hubbub, this lovely house offers quiet, comfort, gardens, ocean views and a caring host. The large lanai provides a place to spend many relaxing hours. Totally off-grid, too.

We had a great vacation staying at Peaceful Hale. Quiet, clean and comfortable. Special place to stay. Kalia was very helpful and a fine hostess.

My wife and I stayed here for the 2nd year in a row in early September. We were not disappointed. We again felt a sense of complete relaxation in entering the Peaceful Hale. It is clear that Kalia pays attention to all the details in order to make her guests' experience as wonderful as possible. We again loved the location with great access to the wonderful beaches north of Kona. It was nice to have this proximity with the very private and somewhat remote location of the house. We also took a couple easy 20 minute drives to the artist community of Hawi to the North. As far as the house goes, it is exactly as advertised. We had the luxury of having the house to ourselves but it would certainly be comfortable for 4-5 guests. We particularly enjoyed the amazing gardens, perfectly stocked kitchen, gas grill outside, outdoor showers, and the comfortably stylish living spaces. In addition, we had excellent access to beach and snorkeling gear. Kalia is also very responsive to any questions or resolving any problems. For instance, during our stay, there were a few nights of heavy winds (trade winds?) which caused a branch to tap on the house. As soon as we notified her of this, she went and trimmed the branch right away. We definitely hope to stay here again in the future. Thanks to Kalia for creating and sharing this little slice of heaven!

This was our first time renting a home in Hawaii. We had previously stayed at a resort. This was a much better experience! This home is so peaceful and quiet. Exactly what was needed for our time away. We didn’t have to worry about renting chairs or snorkeling equipment. It’s all here. And Kalia was so helpful and available for any questions we had. We would definitely recommend!
