It was a very nice place and clean. The owners are great! They had snacks and desserts waiting on our arrival. She was also kind enough to ship my daughters rings that she left back to us. The neighborhood was nice and quite too. I would stay here again.

Our stay was great. Expected to have access to guest house as mentioned in advertising. 3 adults female in 2nd bedroom was tight. Fold away bed added to room. Very little space to move. Was disappointing. Was asked to pay extra for guest house on arrival.

I can't say enough about our host, Carla, and her wonderful home. She welcomed us on arrival with our favorite pie and other treats, and made sure we had everything we needed. Carla has a gift for making her guests feel well taken care of. Her home is decorated very attractively but it is also comfortable and cozy. The view from the deck is spectacular. The neighborhood is great, near the famous secret steps of La Mesa, the village, and access to the freeways. This is the third place we have rented this month while our flood damaged home was repaired. As anxious as we were to get back home we were a little sad leaving this lovely place.

Carla snd John are the ultimate hosts. They make you feel welcome and at home. They greet you with all kinds of goodies and restaurant recommendations. Their home is comfortable and stocked with everything you need for a home away from home. I highly recommend this vacation rental.

We had a great, relaxing stay in La Mesa. Just a short drive to downtown and other great San Diego spots. Everything was well kept and they even gave us snacks (a whole cherry pie) upon check in!

The house is situated such that there is a nice view. Carla was very nice and made a point to make us welcome, including providing snacks and pastries for us to enjoy. My only suggestion would be separate AC controls for the guest house.

We had an incredible stay at this Jewel! In town for our niece's wedding. Stayed with my brother and his wife. Traveled around downtown and north of La Mesa and we were very centrally located. Carla and John could not have been more nice or accommodating. We had some travel issues come up and they were very flexible in making sure we could get into the home and get comfortable.
And oh, how comfortable! The house is immaculate. It is larger than the photos show. The home is furnished like a model, but one you would want to live in for a long time. Carla made sure we would be comfortable by calling when I made the reservation and finding out what we liked and what we needed. Lots of good coffee, snacks and fruit when we arrived. We began and ended our days on the spacious deck with the marvelous views.
Things important to travelers: Clean? Immaculate. Comfortable? Like home. Owners? The nicest! Space? Plenty. Scenery? Can't be beat. Water? Lots of hot and lots of pressure. Convenient? Close to highways and downtown, yet private and quiet.
We visit family in San Diego. We can't wait to come back!

Perfect location overlooking San Diego. With easy access on the less congested I94 West to downtown. We stayed in both the upstairs unit which sleeps 5 for our adult children. The downstairs unit became a perfect getaway for us with no noise between levels. When you arrive Carla will warmly greet you and provide extra touches not found in other rentals.

Carla was wonderful to work with. The place was clean, accommodating and exactly in a perfect location for our travels. Beds were very comfortable and the space was fully equipped with everything we needed for a 6 day stay for my son's wedding. Would definitely recommend.

Due to a major plumbing crisis at home, we were out of our house for three months while repairs were made and moved 9 times in 2 months! This jewel was the last place we stayed on this odyssey and it was wonderful!
This is a warm, bright, welcoming place, extremely clean and very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and lovely and the view really is great. If you want a place that is close to major freeways to get around...but you also want a private homey oasis at the end of the day's adventures ~ this is it! Carla is a cheerful, responsive, generous hostess.

Absolutely nothing has been spared to make sure that the you have a “home away from home” when you stay in this lovely place! Comfortable beds, quality linens and towels, the most well stocked kitchen, beautiful decor and so much more make this the perfect place to stay. Carla, the gracious owner, greeted us with a sweet smile and a delicious apple pie. She also had coffee, snacks and fruit waiting for us. Everything you could possibly want is in this jewel of a home! Best place I have ever rented on VRBO!

What a wonderful place to stay. Not only was the home beautiful & clean , it was close to the airport , close to attractions , close to great food and being seconds from the la mesa steps was a plus !
The owners were extremely accommodating and thoughtful. Not only did they give us a homemade pie of our choice , they provided us with water bottles , fruit basket , coffee , half & half, and snacks. I asked it they had dominoes and the owner went out and purchased the game for us to use. I can’t say enough nice things about the location and experience. So glad we decided to not stay in a hotel. This really was such a wonderful experience.

My family had to find a home to rent to spend thanksgiving with my sister and her newborn. Carla’s place was perfect. She and her husband met us at the home and gave us a tour of the place. She also gave us tons of goodies and amenities for our stay. The beds were comfortable and rooms were clean. The kitchen was stocked and we had everything we needed to host thanksgiving dinner there!

My family and I were so happy to have found this property to stay at while visiting La Mesa and San Diego for my son’s graduation from the Marines Corps. We were fitting in one last family vacation before our oldest went to college. The location was very central to all the attractions we wanted to see, just as promised. There were 8 of us and we had plenty of room. Carla was extremely responsive any time I had a question about anything and very accommodating.

A wonderful home with lovely furnishings, immaculately cleaned, with everything one could possibly need. Carla met us at the house to familiarize us with everything, even providing a pie, banana bread, fruit, coffee, bottled water, and a snack basket. We arrived to the property a little early due to faster flight than expected...Carla contacted me to let us know she was tiding up the place for our stay so we did a little grocery shopping to pass time. Upon entering, the house was amazing! Very clean and wonderful veiw. Carla also bought us some fresh fruit, cookies, apple pie, and snacks for our kids. She put up a pull out bed for our lil one to sleep and provided beach towels. Everything you need was provided. Awesome AWESOME owner. We didnt use it but the guest house is very nice as well! Carla and her husband were amazing, She met us at the property for a walkthrough, left an apple pie, fruit, snacks, ice and coffee. The home was beautiful, just like the pictures. It was extremely comfortable, had a great view, gorgeous sunsets and a warm, friendly neighborhood. The location was safe, looked over the city and was very close to the Secret Stairs. We had an amazing visit and hope to rent from them again with future visits.

Being our first family vacation in some years, Carla made sure that we had a wonderful environment to return to after our busy days out and about in San Diego. From having snacks ready for us the moment we walked in to being extremely kind in answering our out-of-towner questions and offering suggestions, this place had everything we needed to feel comfortable and at home during our stay. Located within walking distance of downtown La Mesa, this property made us feel like native San Diegans as opposed to tourists! We enjoyed the beautiful morning views from the porch (perfect for hanging out) and on clear nights, could even see the fireworks from SeaWorld. This location offered us everything we could have asked for--comfortable living spaces that felt like home, beautiful views, close access to the trolley system that allowed us to leave the car behind, and close access to highways for our farther out adventures as well. If ever in the area again, we would definitely return to this "jewel!"

Carla was incredibly welcoming and accommodating during our stay. She made sure that we had everything we needed. The rental offers a 5-star environment. Even the sheets were ironed, which my dad has always said is the sign of the highest quality hotels. The view is amazing. You can see the water when the fog/haze allows. Either way, this location does offer a really great view of downtown and Mission Valley. The neighborhood is quite and feels private and secluded, yet there's easy access to the 8 and 94 freeways. We have family in East County, so it was really convenient for us to be close to them. It was a great base of operations for our vacation adventures in San Diego.

We enjoyed a week's vacation at this "jewel"! The home is lovely and very well kept. Carla makes a special effort to welcome her guests and make sure they know what her home has to offer and the special touches she adds, are very much appreciated.

It was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. My family and I stayed in the home for 9 days and enjoyed every minute of it. John and Carla went out of their way to purchase a playpen and high chair for our 2 year old so he could sleep and eat comfortably. The home is nicely decorated and they leave plenty of towels for use. They even provide beach towels and chairs for your time at the beach! The home was stocked with goodies and all the household necessities were provided. I would definitely stay there again! Thank you Carla and John for everything you did!

We stayed at this lovely home for two weeks while out in San Diego visiting family. Carla and John have created a very comfortable vacation rental with comfortable furnishings, fluffy towels, great beds, and snacks upon arrival. They sincerely want their guests to feel at home and enjoy the house and its gorgeous view. The bathrooms are great and everything in the house is clean, clean, clean! This house is a hidden gem in the hills of La Mesa. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful and provides plenty of strolling opportunity. The little village of La Mesa has several good restaurants and antique stores. You will not be disappointed if you rent from Carla!
