This was our second time staying at the chalet, and there's a reason we returned. Cozy and quiet, it overlooks the Penobscot, nestled among trees. Cape Rosier and this property are magical, embodying all things Maine—wild blueberries, pine forests, and fresh lobsters nearby.
A short walk takes you to Bakeman Beach, but we mostly enjoyed our own private cove just steps from the door. Morning coffee there was a dream. Great hiking spots are nearby, and there’s plenty to explore around the area.
Buzz and Rosemary are wonderful hosts, and the chalet is both private and beautiful. The entire property is just lovely. It was just the relaxing and rejuvenating trip we needed. We love this magical spot and hope to return for many years to come.

We stayed for a week at this gorgeous property. Rosemary and Buz went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. Their hospitality is one of a kind and are also some of the kindest people we have met. The beach house is kept in pristine condition and has everything you may need. The views were breathtaking. The cove is quiet and peaceful. Local lobster down the road and Acadia National Park is about a hours drive. The perfect Maine getaway!

We had such a great respite from the daily grind! The cottage was perfect. The setting is amazing...we were able to see seals catching fish, seabirds and the beautiful coast line and islands from the windows and just a few steps outside the front door. We took daily walks down the road to a sandy beach for swimming and beachcombing. It is a nice spot from which to take day trips to Acadia, and local villages.
The entire property is lovely and well cared for.
The cottage was clean and very comfortable. Probably one of the most comfortable and tidiest cottages we've ever rented.
Rosemary and Buzz provide multiple resources for activities, restaurants in the area. They were happy to help us with anything we needed.

My family of 4 and our dog had a wonderful stay at the Chalet. Buz and Rosemary were wonderful hosts, setting up a crib for us in advance and bringing in a high chair for the baby. The view is spectacular, the house super clean and well-appointed and the location is perfect for enjoying and exploring the area. We hope to come back again. Many wonderful memories made here. Thank you Buz and Rosemary!

An absolutely beautiful place! If you’re looking for peace, quiet and restoration, then this area is for you.
The chalet was as advertised; magical and immaculate. As part of a family compound, it’s location still lends itself to privacy and autonomy.
Be forewarned, staying here in the chalet will spoil you and sets very high standards for any stays you have elsewhere. To say it was “immaculate” is no exaggeration. Beautifully decorated and comfortable as well. We only used one bedroom during this stay and were grateful for a firm mattress.
They have thought of everything in their amenities; fully equipped kitchen, binoculars, outdoor seat cushions, market umbrellas, Adirondack chairs, lawn chairs, a picnic table and grill and even a luggage rack (so grateful!)
Their welcome/info binder was literally the most up-to-date, detailed one that I’ve seen and filled with recommendations and a sprinkling of delightful humor.
The kitchen is cozy yet efficient and we cooked most every night using the gas stovetop and outdoor grill.
A private beach is directly in front of the chalet. By coastal Maine standards, it is wonderfully accessible in terms launching kayaks (which we didn’t bring this trip, but you can rent.)
A midweek storm left us without power for only a couple hours and we didn’t even realize it (until Lewis popped over to check on us) because of their backup battery and generator systems.
They even shared their garden onions and lettuce with us!
Highly recommend!

Very impressed. Chalet was very clean. Nice view of the ocean. Saw many sailboats, lobster boats, schooners. We even saw a young eagle fly over one day. We had a great time. The weather was finally nice for the week after a long summer of mostly rain. We are considering going back again next summer.

Amazing views, chalet, hosts. Area is peaceful with plenty of attractions for day excursions. Rosemary and Lewis are wonderful hosts, thoughtful, even shared their garden’s bounty. Fantastic stay.

Lewis and Rosemary's property was absolutely perfect. It was wonderful to walk across the lawn and be right on the beach/water. The kitchen was well-outfitted and the house itself very comfortable. We stayed in the upstairs bedroom and had no trouble with the spiral staircase (I'm 60 and my husband is 70). It was peaceful and secluded, but we were able to get to Tinder Hearth in 15 minutes and Bagaduce Lunch in 20 minutes. If you're looking for a beautiful coastal rental in Maine this is perfection! Thank you Rosemary and Lewis for sharing this special property!

What an incredible place to spend a week, and Lewis and Rosemary were kind and gracious hosts. There’s nothing quite like waking up and looking out to the morning fog in the bay. We brought two kayaks and rented two more. They were delivered to the property when we arrived. Kayaking in the bay every morning was so peaceful and quiet. We saw seals, porpoises, eagles, cormorants, and sea gulls. I biked throughout the area on some amazing, hilly roads.
The chalet was cozy and perfect for our family of four. We took the queen in the loft for the views and light, and our kids split the nook and the downstairs bedroom.
We loved our stay at the chalet, and are so happy we had the opportunity to meet the Nickersons and spend such a peaceful week in Maine. We hope to return!

Couldn't have been a better property for us. Right on the water so we could paddle board or kayak. Peaceful. We used the grill quite a bit. Everything was perfect including the weather!! Thank you Rosemary & Buzz!

The house is gorgeous and the view is amazing. We absolutely adored our stay. The owners were super helpful and accommodating. We were in town from CA to drop our only son off at college, Rosemary knew how this mama would be feeling and brought me hugs and chocolate! Buzz and Rosemary’s kind and welcoming spirits really made our stay at this magical property a dream. We hope to be back again!

Very nice place
It was a very nice place right on the beach, which is shared with the owners, who live next door. They are extremely nice & helpful. Parking is about 100yard walk from the house, over a boardwalk. They supply a cart (& even helped out with a tractor-wagon) to bring things from the car to the chalet. The place is fairly small (cozy) but well-kept & comfortable. The spiral staircase to the 2nd floor is definitely not for grandma.
Just a few minor suggestions: More hooks would be so helpful. It would also be wonderful if they had kayaks to use- the water is beautiful & inviting, but we were apprehensive about getting kayaks (our own or rentals) all the way down to the beach from the parking area.
All & all, it was a great launching pad for many area hikes, swims & adventures. Thanks, Lewis & Rosemary!

Beautiful chalet and location
The chalet and location exceeded our expectations! This was the best vacation rental that we've had so far in many respects. It was very well maintained and appointed. Rosemary and Lewis were welcoming and accommodating hosts and we enjoyed visiting with them. The views of Penobscot Bay from the chalet were amazing and we enjoyed being able to kayak directly from the property. There's a beautiful sand beach just a short jog down the road and fresh lobster available a cove over (Thanks Nathan!). We loved the quiet and scenic seclusion of Cape Rosier and easy access to Blue Hills for shopping/dining/gym and Acadia National Park for our other outdoor adventures. We highly recommend this property and hope to return soon!

A charming chalet with an amazing view of the water. Very clean and comfortable. Plenty of room to lounge indoors or outside. The owners are a delightful couple that made us feel very welcome. Enjoyed getting fresh lobster a short distance away. A wonderful place to relax and enjoy nature.

Great getaway
My husband and I spent a week at this wonderful property with gorgeous views of Penobscot bay. Owners were gracious, on site and willing to accommodate any needs. Kayaking on the bay, fresh lobster and peaceful surroundings made for a memorable week away. Don’t hesitate to rent this one, it is comfortable, well furnished and a gorgeous setting.

Beautiful chalet on the ocean
This was a very well-kept, well-furnished home with amazing views of Penobscot Bay with a Small beach for launching my kayak. The chalet was both a great basecamp for journeying further afield (Acadia) as well as exploring local hikes!

Wonderful week in Beautiful Setting
Property surpassed ad description!
Wow!
You could not ask for a better place to get away from it all in a more beautiful setting.
I have rented several rentals over the years, but this one is the best equipped that I have experienced. Add in the ability to buy fresh Lobster off the boat everyday in the next cove over is something special.
Lewis and Rosemary were great hosts and enjoyed spending time with them! Thank You.
Only issue is the distance to Markets and Restaurants. If you plan well, no problem.

Lovely property and beautiful peaceful surroundings.
Hosts were very nice and available.
Private and quiet. Beautiful water views
from the chalet. It was very enjoyable walking down to the waterfront and walking on the property. Views at sunrise and sunset were stellar. The large windows afforded amazing views. Saw a couple of eagles and a fisher cat. If you want space, nature and visual beauty this is the place.

Wonderful Stay at the Chalet
We enjoyed our stay at the Chalet in Harborside very much. The property was comfortable, very nicely furnished and well maintained. The location could not have been better - either for relaxing while watching the boats sail by or as a home base as we explored Cape Rosier and the Penobscot Bay region. We were even treated to veggies from the owner’s garden. We had a delightful stay and hope to return again.

Delightful cottage in wonderful location
The location is lovely and the cottage is terrific. It is amazingly well-equipped, and we had everything we needed. On a hot day, the attic fan did an incredible job of cooling off the cottage. We were so pleased!

Slice of Maine heaven
Our first time to Maine, and we could not have picked a better location and home to rent with our three kids. House was immaculate and quaint, we had our own private rocky beach from which we kayaked and hunted for critters at low tide from. Watched dolphins and seals and schools of mackerel, sailboats and lobster boats float by. Our kids loved buzz and rosemary, especially their little dog Nelson. They take great care of their property, and they were available for whatever we needed. They live on site, but we didn’t feel like we were infringing on their space and they weren’t in ours. The house was very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped with pots and pans and knives for cooking, we even boiled lobster and schucked oysters there. While cape rosier is quiet and remote, we found it the perfect place to unwind, with lots of hidden beaches and hikes around. We took day trips to stonington and Acadia which were easy—Acadia was about1.5 hours. While the cape is a bit low key for smaller kids, it helped to have the numerous beaches and hikes to explore all around. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks again to the nickerson’s for providing such a great place for us!

A Perfect Family Vacation
The Chalet is as beautiful as all the pictures. Its private, yet part-of. The entire Nickerson family really enhanced the comfort and ease of our stay. Not to mention added to our fun. At first we were concerned because we thought we could do wash therefore under packed. I was never so happy to be just a little earthy the whole week. The seating in the living room was too small to sit comfortable after a long day of excursions, and watch a movie with my family of five. That being said, I dont think any place with a more roomy couch could ever hold a candle to this place. It was all the magic promised and more partially because the people serving the magic(Nickerson family) were just naturally without effort or invasion, the exact people you hope to meet in life. The views, the flowers, the sounds coming from the nearby island, the tasteful and warm decor....more than I can go on
10 stars!!Haha

Peaceful Relaxatino
My family completely enjoyed our stay. From the surprise visits from the porpoise, bald eagle and fawn. To the amazing view of the ocean. Added to this picturesque location of this property. My sons favorite was sea glass hunting on the rocky beach!

Perfect for Kayaking!
My wife, daughter and I had an amazing time exploring Cape Rosier by kayak. The wildlife was incredible - with many seal sightings. The Chalet was perfect - very comfortable with amazing views! We love Maine - and the Blue Hill Peninsula did not disappoint. We had a great time exploring all the coastal towns - great art, great food and friendly people. Rosemary and Buz were wonderful hosts!!

Amazing Chalet and still "the Perfect Get-away!"
Once again, we had the most wonderful experience staying at the chalet on Cape Rosier! This is our second stay and we just love it! Being right on the ocean is amazing with breathtaking views of schooners and sailboats as they sail by, lobster boats pulling their traps, kayaks etc.and don't forget the wildlife... bald eagles, harbor seals, porpoise...the list goes on. The chalet, so charming, had everything we needed, it's so well equipped, and Rosemary and Lewis, the owners, are so gracious and very accommodating.
The Chalet makes the perfect place to base explorations of the area and experience that part of "Down East" Maine. And also the perfect spot to relax and unwind. That's why we are returning! You can't do better than this!
