Charming, warm & tranquil historic downtown New Bern home
Maison historique de 1880, entièrement modernisée dans le centre-ville historique à côté des jardins / boutiques / cafés de Tryon Palace. La maison est tout au sujet du confort, du charme du sud, des équipements modernes et dispose de 4 cheminées à gaz (salon, salle à manger, 2 chambres) un loft pour 3 personnes, manger dans la cuisine, joliment meublé partout. TVHD (2), accès Internet haut débit inclus. Tous les restaurants / tavernes / cafés sont facilement accessibles à pied, tout comme le front de mer / la marina. Le golf est abondant, les plaisanciers ont 2 lancements publics de bateaux à moins de 3/4 mile. Il y a 2 porches et une belle cour arrière clôturée et paysagée. Le temps s'améliore et s'améliore après la fête du Travail, parfait pour le golf, la navigation de plaisance, la pêche et le vélo. Atlantic Beach, Emerald Isle, Cape Lookout Nat’l Seashore, poneys de Shackleford Banks et Carrot Island à moins de 40 minutes en voiture. Observation des oiseaux à la forêt nationale de Croatan, NC Aquarium, Core Sound Waterfowl Museum tous à proximité. Descendez, garez la voiture, marchez / faites du vélo partout, détendez-vous et soyez citadin pendant une semaine, un mois, une saison. Great location to downtown. If you like a historic home setting this is the place to stay. Also hostess has beautiful artwork throughout the home.

My husband, our 2 little schipperkes and I spent 4 days in this wonderful, charming house in New Bern. The location is easily walkable to downtown New Bern plus a wonderful little breakfast spot as well as a wine bar. Bed was comfortable and everything we needed was there! Thank you!

Charming 1900 property with a space for everyone; living room, dining room, family room, outdoor seating. I believe it is the home of an artist, lots of paintings to admire. If you love old homes with character, this is the one for you!

We had another fantastic weekend in New Bern. As always, Kippy’s home was just perfect. We appreciate the closeness to breweries and downtown- all within walking distance. The short drive to Atlantic Beach is also great! Thank you for sharing your New Bern Home with us once again!

The property was very comfortable with all the character of home built in the early 1900's. There were great spaces to be together and also to break away for quiet time. The location was extremely convenient and walkable to downtown. I would highly recommend this property.

A special celebration was what brought us to New Bern (my granddaughter’s christening) was enhanced by a stay at a gorgeous Smith House. Hoping to stay at The Smith House again when visiting my son, daughter-in-law, and my beautiful granddaughter in New Bern.

This place was very comfortable, and so clean! It was nice that the three of us each had our own.
The location was good, especially if you don’t mind walking a few blocks to the shops and restaurants. Two of us were having some difficulty walking due to recent injuries, so we ended up having to drive the few blocks.

The house is historical and has kept a lot of the old charm. The furniture is very attractive and comfortable. We did not use the kitchen much but seemed modern enough. Plenty of hot water for the two of us. The downstairs gas fireplace worked well. Private back deck and patio. Just around the corner from Tryon Palace. Around a 8-10 minute walk to downtown. A breakfast diner a block away. Wonderful weekend.

Beautiful home in New Bern's historic district, with plenty of room for family to gather and stay. Accommodations provided above and beyond what we needed. Walking distance to water, Tryon Palace and excellent coffee shop! Only 10 mins by foot to downtown as well. It was perfect.

All was excellent! Wonderful warm home; Beds and furniture were very comfortable; Great location for touring New Bern! Walk everywhere! Even while in France the homeowner was in touch with us! Artwork in the house was spectacular! Our grand-children enjoyed their private space "up the circle stairs"! Could not have been better.

I can’t rave enough about my stay. The owner is simply wonderful. Communication was top notch. The home itself is beautiful. It had everything I needed.
I actually went to New Bern, to have Thanksgiving with my daughter, son in law and brand new grandson. Their home is too small to accommodate guests. I was able to cook an entire Thanksgiving meal. The kitchen had everything I needed. We ate in the gorgeous dining room.
The walls throughout are decorated with the most beautiful original paintings. When I looked at the artist’s signature I realized, the host/owner is the artist.
I stayed with my dog Henry, who felt right at home. Fully fenced back yard, where I would sit on the porch swing, have my coffee, while Henry roamed safely.
My daughter and 3 month old grandson, did spend a lot of time with me during my stay. Plenty of room for all the baby gear.
We were able to walk to town and down to the waterside park. Shopped many locally owned businesses, restaurants and antique shops.
I hope to return and stay again in the future.

Property was exactly as described and in a beautiful neighborhood downtown. Owner was very nice and timely when a small issue arose about checking in.
5/5 stars. This property will definitely remain on my list of places to stay while in New Bern from now on.

This was a wonderful house that was close to town close enough to walk to shops and restaurants. It was very cozy and well-appointed with everything we could possibly need. It is one of my favorite VRBO stays. It had great character and charm!!!

Charming house, we could all spread out. Don't let your kids fall asleep if they are sleeping on the 3rd floor, within walking distance of Tryon Palace and the waterfront. We had a wonderful time spent there at their house.

The property is homey and eclectic. We would highly suggest this place to anyone. Close to the downtown with lots of personal charm. Definitely an old home with all the modern conveniences. Very comfortable furniture. With plenty of room for 5 adults. To. feel like a home away from home. Everyone that we worked with during our stay were very welcoming.

The location of the house to downtown was good. The house was in good condition with all the charm of an older home. The stairs were very noisy so you couldn’t creep downstairs in the morning without waking others but that’s to be expected in an older home. We would definitely stay here again.

Squeaky boards, creaking doors, some holes in the floor -- NOTHING COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER for this 1900 era home. Also reminded an old man about growing up in some of those circumstances. Host and real estate agent spectacular in working with us and making some unexpected accommodations. Grandkids thoroughly enjoyed the house and the whole of New Bern and Cherry Point. Best of all brought back many memories and good times for my wife as she grew up in New Bern and we resided there for many years while stationed at Cherry Point before career issues move us on. We would certainly consider staying again and recommending to others.

My daughters, young granddaughters, and I had a wonderful stay at Kippy’s house! In fact, my granddaughters said it was like the house was made for us! We had planned a weekend of sharing early New Bern family history and staying in such a wonderful historic house just added to the experience…not to mention Kippy’s incredible personal art collection. We can’t wait to return!

Perfect lodging for exploring historic New Bern
My two sisters and I really enjoyed our 3-night stay in this historic home. It is full of beautiful, inspiring art by the owner. The kitchen is very well equipped; we cooked all our evening meals there. Beds are very comfortable. Screened in porch is real bonus. Location is perfect... Our car didn't leave the driveway. We walked everywhere and immersed ourselves in the history of New Bern. Would definitely stay here again. The owner and property manager were extremely responsive. I don't think it could have been better.
