Spacious room with really comfy bed and excellent view of the river. Lovely big bathroom with double shower. The breakfast was cooked fresh and there was plenty of choice of cooked and cold buffet options. We had a truly delicious dinner one evening. Each member of staff we encountered were very friendly, professional and really couldn’t do enough for us. A memorable stay on our special wedding anniversary

Room was a little warm but we could probably have turned temperature down if we knew how wasn't a problem.

The hotel had an understated but excellent feel of experience.
I personally would have liked a balcony and further leisure facilities but that is all.

The bar and patio area is lovely because of the location. The bar has a lovely vibe too it is busy and buzzy without being overbearing. The staff are excellent, very obliging, friendly really impressive.
The restaurant lacks a good ambience. Maybe some table clothes, mood lighting. The menu was uninspiring but the food was OK but expensive.

Location and river view from our room was great. Close to the ferry for a beautiful walk to Hengistbury Head. Staff friendly and attentive. Food excellent.
The dinner menu wasn’t as ‘upmarket’ as we expected. What we had was delicious and beautifully presented, but for us there was not enough choice to have eaten dinner there every night. We had already pre booked 2 other restaurants for our 3 night stay and were glad we had done so.

The Spa has very small seating relaxing area small pool and sauna .This does not match the rest of the hotel..I cannot comment on treatments as we didn't have any.

Room was very nice, and immaculately clean, the housekeeping staff were more then lovely.
The restaurant was very very expensive, sadly the steak was inedible, the 3rd table to complain I learned. We were told we wouldn't be charged for it, of course we were. At checkout the rude receptionist insisted we were given fishcakes as a substitute, we were not. They also charged an extra £10 on the bottle of already expensive wine, which was passable in taste. So for over £100 we got a 2 course only one of us could eat, a mediocre wine they added £10 to an already expensive price, and a checkout fellow calling me a liar. And the spa had no water jets.

Staff were great, setting great on the side of the river, staff lovely.
Buffet breakfast was good (but not the a la carte)
Their key card system wasn't working. Their solution if leaving your room was to either leave your room on the latch which meant your door was visibly open or get a member of staff to go back to your room with you to let you in. We couldn't get some of the lamps in the room to work, and even though the heating was on, there was cold air coming from somewhere. AC was on a warm temp as was the wall heater.

Service very slow during breakfast. Eggs Royale not great. Eggs slightly overcooked. Hollandaise sauce split and congealed.

It's such a homely hotel. Breakfast is the best ever. Lunch and Evening meal good also with happy staff ready to help. Cocktails are good and the bar staff go out there way to help.

Thank you to James for organising the mobile wall handles and seat in the shower for my mother who is disabled.
Also, we do not know his name, but the very tall young gentleman with glasses in restaurant was very helpful and courteous.
This is the fourth time we have returned to the Captains Club as I wanted somewhere we knew, especially with my mother's mobility issues after 2 years of not being able to have a break - So if that is not a recommendation, I do not know what is.
