Staff were unable to communicate effectively due to their limited understanding of English.

I liked everything, the staff at night , I was very late The room was excellent, although dated , they keep clean and has air conditioning

The hotel badly needs to be renovated. There was paint coming off the walls in our room, stains on the quilt, and curtains not properly hung up. Staff were nice, but the service was very slow.

Beautiful spot on the lake with pretty lake views. Beautiful rooms.

A few small things needed maintenance (peeling paint, garden chair, small hole on bathroom wall from previous towel rail) but nothing major and nothing that bothered us.

The staff were extremely helpful & friendly. Dinner in the restaurant was sensational!

The staff really friendly and really helpful. One time back in 2018/19, me and my partner decided to spent our holiday in rotorua and choose VR for our hotel. The staff, the facility are really nice. Even when my car broke down, the staff is really helpfull, they offer us to just park the car at the hotel until someone can pick up the car because that time no one available for tow my car. And the one who available was way more then the time I booked to stay at this hotel and I need to fly back to wellington. They are really nice. That's why I always comes back to this hotel where ever I come to rotorua.

The view and access to the backyard were awesome. Kids loved playing with the big chess board.

When people walked in the room upstairs we could hear the sound. Not the quietest I would say.

Could hear all movement and sound from the room above. Was woken up by them at 5 am and they didn't leave until after 9. Not at all soundproof. The spa pool is not thermal.

Friendly check in, clean room. Huge bath tub, plenty of tea/coffee/creamer sachets etc. Location was good, away from hustle bustle but close enough to get to places. Stories on the walls about local legends. We should away longer next time, utilise all the facilities,sauna, pool etc.

It was great. We will stay longer next time.

Hotel ist heruntergekommen, viele Stellen sind vergammelt und ungepflegt. Die Sauberkeit läßt zu wünschen übrig. Kein Tisch im Zimmer, damit man sich mal hinsetzen kann. Das Hotel ist schlecht geführt, Umbuchung wurde bestätigt, aber das Zimmer war bereits anderweitig vergeben, da wir ja nicht zu dem ursprünglichen Termin gekommen sind. Türen sind sehr laut und man wird morgens von ständig zugeschlagenen Zimmertüren geweckt, offensichtlich Gäste die früh abreisen.

Upstairs balcony was very small. Couldn’t fit a chair out there to relax. Would definitely ask for ground floor next time. Shower was not very pleasant. Soap holder broken, nowhere to put own shampoo body wash face washers etc. water would run hot for approx 20 secs then run cold for 5-10 seconds for the entire duration of each shower

We loved the view of the lake. There was an excellent cafe a few km from the hotel that was recommended by the staff. The heated bathroom floor would be a huge plus in the winter.

The rooms were superficially updated in the last remodel. The repairs were not done. Our sliding balcony door was corroded and hard to open/close. Our a/c would not operate on cool and made a lot of noise. The sliding screen between the trim and bath was broken.

Unfortunately it could have been brought up in to today’s high standard of spec. Found it to be lacking in sharpness with things like just your basic maintenance, maybe not having a folding shutter partition between your bedroom to your bathroom.

Great room with view of the lake in two directions. Wonderful breakfast on offer and great dinner available on site. Kayaks available for hire which we did so could see things from the lake and be closer to the wildlife. Great to have washer and drier available as well.

Kitchenette cupboard needed replacing, but did not matter for us as we ate at the restaurant or elsewhere.

Room tired with broken fittings. Staff not helpful when checking in about facilities. Did not use any facilities we hoped to. Restaurant food OK to bad and expensive - would not eat there again. Noisy conference party screened off with only a curtain and made dining unpleasant. Restaurant staff were great though.

A bit old and not so clear in details. Hotel could be update a bit and change the cold white to warm white light bulb , outdoor spa should have an access inside than outside, not heated pools and changing room with birds poos on the racks… lots of flies marks in rooms and corridor etc.

We have stayed here 2yrs before and absolutly loved it then. This time we found the rooms have definitely aged. The staff on check in and out are very friendly. And beds are comfortable.

Room in serious need of update and maintenence. Mouldy showers, handprints on bathroom walls, dirt/grease smudged over door trimmings and toilets which flush continuously. Tea bags dumped on grass outside room. It was a cheap room. But I'm afraid I'm not rushing back.

The staff was nice. The cleaner was okay on saturday but the cleaner sunday morning was a very nice lady.

I didnt like having nobody at the desk when your needing some help

Aww, we loved how the bathroom floor was heated and warm. The spa pools were beautiful, and the outdoor area was just as amazing, especially with children who like to play with the chess board and challenge each other. The playground could have been closer, but that was fun, too. The view was absolutely beautiful, especially on a beautiful sunny day.

Well, the pool was freezing cold when it should have been a warmer pool, especially with kids who like to swim. Even though the spa was there, my kids would have loved it if it was warm, it doesnt help when the pool is cold, and you can get cold easily. It would have been nice if there were a lott more staff to supervise the activity family room, we would have enjoyed it more. 2 nights have been amazing.

We liked our room, bed was comfortable, very good sleep, big bed for 2 adults and 1 child , room was warm especially with the heat pump, shower and bath was good, liked little balcony with the views of lake rotoiti,liked that we got fresh towels and rubbish emptied from bins and milk replaced in fridge, the next day, loved the toiletries in bathroom, if id know i wouldn't have bought my own lol,very peaceful 😀

We arrived didn't really get a proper friendly greeting, checked in, went to room, sink in bathroom needed a clean, could have done with a microwave in room, and maybe a dustpan to sweep up crumbs from what the child ate ,not enough cutlery, no knives or forks and I thought this place was kid friendly? we experienced a guest who opened the door of her room and telling my grandchild to be quiet as we were walking down the hallway omg! Not happy about that!

The location was stunning, beautiful views to wake up to.

The food was terrible, we ordered room service and it arrived stone cold, next morning buffet breakfast was also cold.
