Fantastic location!
The lounge area could be improved with a lick of paint and replace the rotten skirting board

It’s in a lovely location
I had a bit of a bad experience in the restaurant for my evening meal.

Excellent cooked breakfast
4.0
Beautiful location, next to the river, plenty of parking space, and outdoor eating facilities.
We were late arriving our first night, and the food was below standard. The second night it was very good.

Very courteous and efficient. Large comfortable room, excellent food and wine.

Huge room. Comfortable bed. Well heated
Staying in a separate annex which meant you got wet getting to the restaurant and reception
4.0
The room was in an annex so was not conveniently located for the main hotel. No milk in the room for tea and at 7.30 in the morning I didn't want to walk outside and into the main building to get milk as suggested on a note in the room. Good breakfast with a good selection of cereals and cooked items. Room was pleasant and large.
Being in the annex.

The most amazing setting. Friendly staff. Great accommodation. Tasty food. Great bar selection. Best location for exploring.
One more of those coffee bags in the room - they are great.

Location was perfect.😊
Very clean and comfortable.

The whole place was just full of character, historic but with all the mod cons. Lots of options on seating, and great menu. Food was delicious and generous. Accommodation couldn’t be faulted, well provided for and extremely comfortable. Unforgettable view of the river, fells and quant town of Burnsall. Already booked to return next month.

The staff and location were excellent.
My wife walked into the bar area on our arrival and stood in a large pile of dog poo. There was a nasty smell in the bathroon every morning. When my wife ordered scrambled egg on the first morning there was a large human hair in it. Needless to say she couldn,t eat it..
4.5
The location and the fact it could accommodate a family
The breakfast service was very slow and they didn’t have or serve things in the menu, the serving staff were rude and dull. What breakfast we did have, was of nice quality.

Fabulous location, very friendly staff, lovely food and a wonderful outdoor seating area beside the river. We usually stay in Grassington but will definitely stay in Burnsall in future, and would have no hesitation in returning to The Red Lion.
Buffet breakfast on the first day was spot on but on the second day the system changed to table service, as a trial. Staff seemed rushed and it was not as good an experience. I hope they have reverted to buffet style for our next visit

The food was lovely breakfast very good. Bed was really comfy
Cottage 1 was very shabby and tired. TV not working, squeaky and banging door on bedroom and mismatched furniture. No games for rainy day. Lots of staff but no one seemed to be doing any specific thing making it feel chaotic. Would have liked a different cheaper bar menu as the food from restaurant was served in the bar as well, at restaurant price so felt a bit cheated that you weren't sitting in the restaurant.
We weren't kept up to date on status of the TV and on our last day someone appeared on the roof putting a new aerial up. We had wanted to watch Glastonbury on the Sunday but were unable to. I accept these things happen but feel if we had been told we would have bought a tablet to watch. TV not checked regularly, something the manager took on board when we complained.
All in all a disappointing experience.

10/10 location. Breakfast was great. Nice accommodating staff. Rooms fab considering this is an old building.
Just a bit pricey, not sure why the prices went up as much as they did.

Expensive room and rather tired

This establish was family run for many years but is now part of a chain. The high standards appear to have been maintained. Many of the original staff remain including the chef of over twenty years so the quality of dinner and breakfast was excellent.
The location, next to the river Wharfe is superb.
The bedroom was beginning to look a little shabby and needs a refurb. in the not too distant future.

All aspects were great, of particular note was the help of the staff who kindly provided plasters for my partner's blistered feet. The room, evening meal and breakfast were all top notch. I've visited many times over the years (my parents have a place in Ap'trick) but never stayed before.
Nothing comes to mind

We were a group of 8 and our stay at the Red Lion was outstanding. We booked a variety of rooms and one flat. We were all impressed with the whole package. Location is stunning, rooms lovely and the breakfast excellent. We also had dinner and that was excellent too. Restaurant standard food not just pub food.
