Everything from the room to the staff, the grounds & views, the history etc etc etc - absolutely stunning in every way.

Ambience and property itself is very nice
Room floors was making too much noise while walking

The room was lovely and cool and the beds very comfortable.
The bread at breakfast was as hard as rocks and was a couple of days old. We were charged twice for our evening meal until I spotted it.

If you are looking for service, comfort, heritage and a beautiful setting, this is the pleace.
The fine dining restaurant was a disappointment. We had a cheese soufflé and vegetable tart for starters, and a sea bass and the halibut as mains. With the exception of the soufflé which was perfect, the other dishes lacked any form of leading taste, cohesion of ingredients, texture and presentation. What do raw slices of plum on a saltless poached filet of sea bass do in a bland kelp consommé?? Why call a few rough pieces of unrelated cooled vegetables a tart? The halibut would have been helpless if it wasn't for the creamy sauce it was sitting in. Chef, just stick to proven recepies, like the soufflé, and your guests will certainly enjoy a lot more.

Old school British glamour. The spa was very nice.
Stunning views from the dining room.
A little bit stuffy. Noisy wedding party above the dining room.

The service was impeccable. We had a room upgrade with cake and champagne in the room due to the trip being for our birthdays. It was such a lovely touch. The room was breathtakingly beautiful. We had the tasting menu which was delicious and the staff were so helpful and friendly. We walked the grounds which were lovely. I have nothing bad to say! A wonderful trip! Thank you.

Brilliant service and gorgeous grounds

The House is of a gorgeous elegant architecture. Loved the French Dining Room from Chateau d'Asnieres.
Loved the Gardens. Loved the Spa, with indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, steam room etc.
Loved the dinner. Loved the breakfast.
We would have liked to stay longer. There was a big wedding going on while we were there. But our personal timing worked out so that we were not really bothered by that group.

Room upgrade will make it far more likely we'll return. A big factor.
Every member of staff 100%.
Beautiful venue.
Nice touches around our mentioned "new job" celebration.
Swimming outside in April.
A lady cleaner was about to get in lift as I walked up to it. She stepped aside. No amount of insistence would make her either take the lift or join me in it. Personally I'd be happy to share a lift with the person cleaning my room but her courteous professionalism was a credit to her and her training.
All above applies to Astor Grill too.
I've never encountered a service charge on accommodation. Whilst on checking out it was made clear I could decline, (maybe being very "British") I wouldn't decline, and had no reason to, the service charge has just stuck in my mind as a negative. It seems to just to remove 5% from the face value of the room. It was a toss up between returning to The Grove or trying Cliveden. You might think the superficial price reduction worked, but actually it tips the balance toward a simple price.
Asquith Bath tap needs a bit of maintenance.

All of the staff were friendly and helpful. They made you feel welcomed me and quiet at home.

The history and staff were great.
The price certainly did not match up to the hype and expectation. The room was tired, TV didn't work. No Mini bar, We booked in for the tasting menu at 8.30 & were still waiting at 11.30!

The whole experience was exceptional. The surroundings were beautiful, spa was relaxing and we loved the whole time we were there.
The Spa cafe and Astor Grill weren't up to the exceptional standard of everything else we experienced. Just a few tweaks on the menu, standard and price would be welcomed.

The staff went above and beyond to be helpful.
Hotel felt tired and living off the history of the place. Breakfast was disappointing. The produce was not high-quality, cheap bread, pastries and cooked breakfast. It was not what I would expect from a five star hotel. Dinner in the restaurant was ok but not amazing, didn’t warrant the price paid. Afternoon tea, sandwiches - bread was dry. Overall felt disappointed with the price that I have paid to stay there for one night.

We stayed for 2 nights in December 2022. The positive points: The house was magnificent so as our room- The spa was luxerious with a small but nice swimming pool, towels and toiletries provided, staff were polite and car park was available free of charge. The gym was small though didn't bother me very much.
Negative points: I booked an expensive room with separate sitting/living room and bedroom! they said they have upgraded us to a room in a main building. However, I am not still convinced as the upgraded room didn't have any living room!
Then there was these service charges that came from every single direction! this wasn't clarified upfront and made a big difference to overall bill! we were never given a copy of the receipt either. Speaking of service my wife had her nails done and nail polish didn't last more than 3 days, Breakfast was very boring with fruits balls usually not re-filled until asked! poor collection of cheese and bread also noted overall average breakfast. The same was with the dinner at the main restaurant: boring menu.
Room that upgraded but didn't look like so, Service charge that came from every f*** place, Boring breakfast, no receipt at check out!

To put it simply, we had the most magical weekend imaginable at Cliveden. It's not hard to summarise what makes it so special - the beautiful grounds, the incredible history and - without question the most important feature - the quite brilliant staff. From the moment we arrived Dina made it very special and this continued throughout our stay thanks to the wonderful team. Particular (and very heartfelt) thanks go to Sebastian, Philip, John, George, Dragos and Dina. We are already very excited to see you all again. In a world of constantly falling standards, it was rejuvenating seeing all expectations smashed by Cliveden. Many thanks once again! Andrew and Salma.

The building and most of the staff
Breakfast was slow.
My partner had to ask three times for breakfast.
I think it was an off day. Very unusual. I have stayed there a number of times and will go back.
