The Hotel is housed in a charming colonial styled building and its location is absolutely outstanding with the sound of soothing waves in the background. We were fortunate to be upgraded to the Royal Dutch Suite, which featured a beautiful terrace overlooking lush green lawns and offering a lovely sea view. The suite itself was spacious, with a separate bedroom and a living room, and the additional toilet added an extra level of comfort. The restaurant, located in the patio, also boasts a wonderful sea view making dining there a truly enjoyable experience.

The breakfast was good, though it felt like something was missing. The food was enjoyable but had the feel of a typical club fare. A more elevated gourmet experience would have been a welcome addition.

The balcony was not swept and did not look clean. The rooms were a bit dated and dark, it could be modernized a little. There was a huge wedding when we stayed and the guests were quite loud as they were in house guests as well.

Best place to stay in Colombo

Iconic hotel right on the seafront. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The bagpiper was a highlight as was the museum.

The hotel is in need of restoration and repairs. Our first stay was in a balcony room and was very nice, but our second was not so. The hallway and room were very musty and the window once open couldn’t be closed. Considering the age of the building the upkeep needs to be addressed.

역사가 느껴지는 고풍스런 분위기 친절한 직원들 잘 관리된 시설, 바다조망 그리고 일몰까지 참 좋았음. 웰컴티 딜마였는데 너무 맛있어서 인상적이었음. 조식 분위기 너무 좋고 직원분들 다 유니폼 너무 멋지게 입고 연륜이 느껴지는 친절한 서비스에 감동받았음. 시설 생각보다 좋았고 관리가 잘 되어 있어서 전혀 불편함 없었고 어메니티 바디로션 향과 호텔 내부 향이 너무 좋아서 혹시나 스파실론에 파나 찾아봤는데 같은향 바디로션 못사서 아쉬웠음

체크인 요청하고 앉아 기다리는데 30분 넘게 아무 반응이 없어 카운터에 가서 언제 방 준비되냐고 말하니 그제서야 방으로 안내해줌. 보통 가방 들어주거나 방에 가져다 주는데 백팩 내가 이고 방에 들어감.. 그래서 호텔 첫인상이 너무 안좋았음. 그리도 일몰 보려고 나갔는데 바 직원이 음료 시켜야 여기서 볼 수 있다고 해서.. 어이가 없었지만 그냥 하나 시켜먹고 그냥 짜증나서 방에와서 일몰 감상함.

We stayed in the Heritance Sea view room which was lovely and big.

The hotel was once grand now tired and rickety. The bed was not comfortable and the towels in need of major replacing. The bars which many talk about were lovely but not as busy as I expected. If you want old world with a bit of Faulty Towers stay here. If you want luxury, new and classy don't stay here. I'm torn if I would stay again. Colombo hotels are very overpriced so this is a good compromise but I think I'd try somewhere else next time.

Breakfast was a substantial multicultural buffet with Sri Lankan, Indian and European sections. It included lots of tropical fruit. The room was on 3rd floor with a view of the sea; they gave me an option of that one or a quieter room downstair and I chose the view, even though they said it might get noisy at the weekend. The location is excellent being on the seafront at one end of the beach, with a wide expanse of greenery in front of it where kites are flown and street food sold and children play.

The use of airconditioning is a must to keep the humidity level low in the rooms. This was monsoon season, and the hotel is on the seafront, with windows that open. I made the mistake of turning the a/c off on my first night, to be greeted by damp floors in the bedroom and bathroom the next morning. This was quickly mopped up at my request, and dry towels brought. A reminder to be careful in the tropics.

A beautiful colonial hotel in a fabulous location. Would highly recommend the sea view room if you want to hear the waves!
