unfortunately we had to move units twice due to a plumbing malfunction… the staff excellent in terms of ensuring problem was resolved. we did bring to the attention on departure that the toilet in upgrade room needed a hood shot of bleach to really clean the upper bowl area. the outside furniture requires a good clean and refurb

This is a great Discovery Park, despite some things in the deluxe style cabin. It felt friendly, safe and secure. Family friendly, retiree friendly and, I believe, an area for dog friendly. Beautiful location on the river not far from the breakwater and a surf beach in Ballina. There is a small, very safe swimming beach next to the park, where kids could paddle, you could kayak etc. There's a long wheel chair/ bicycle or pram accessable/ dog on lead walkway also on the edge of the park. Lots of different style cabins or ensuited camping sites, plenty of room for caravans, big trees and excellent laundry facilities, BBQs etc. Stuff for kids to do. It was quiet - although the park was fairly busy there wasn't much noise at all. But, I expect in peak season it would be packed. The cabin I stayed in was very clean, with an efficient aircon, comfy bed and lounge and fully screened windows with a great pull down blind system for privacy. It had a good fridge and microwave. It was lovely to be able to open windows and the front door and still feel very secure. It is in a beautiful, peaceful location.

Hmmm. I thought the cabin ( deluxe standard) was pricey for the style of kitchen ( outdated but adequate) and bathroom - very outdated and could be quite dangerous for people with mobility or sight issues. I think the days of too long shower curtains, in tiny cubicles that leak water all over the bathroom floor should be gone. I've stayed in other parks in a similar standard of cabin where there's a walk-in shower, with shower screen, a decent basin and modern kitchen. I guess you pay for the location, which is stunning. However, you have to remember how tough Ballina's tourist industry has had it in the last few years- major floods, fires and pandemic. And, I guess, we all need to become very tolerant of outdated facilities just now. The criticism of the bathroom is only to warn people who may have special needs. My advice- don't be put off by this review if wishing to stay in one of the cabins. Do check to see if there are disability accessible ones or ring the park to see what's in each 'level' of cabin if you're concerned.

The cabin was just what we needed, perfect size for 2 adults and a toddler. Great location near the waterfront. Bed was comfy bed and the cabin looked really new! The splash park was perfect for little kids.

It was perfect for our 1 night stay. It also would have been great if staying longer as it was self contained.

shower in cabin, the water temp was impossible to get right. Air-conditioner could have been colder, kids room stayed warm. river wasn’t as pleasant to swim in. beach walk was further than expected. coffee and food was not in walking distance.

Loved everything

Fantastic location! Cabins are very clean and comfortable. The kids loved the mini golf and big pillow.

Two of the staff members weren’t very friendly but the other staff’s kindness made up for that. Sand flies! They ate us alive so make sure to pack a good bug repellent.

I was in need of total rest. The Park gave me that opportunity. It was quiet even though there were a lot of children around. I liked the mix of young families and 'grey haired nomads'. I liked that there were facilities catering to many diverse needs. Mini-golf for enjoyment by young and old; great play areas for children, including beach volley ball. Next visit I'm hoping to feel well enough to use the pool. Riverside and beach walks inviting even for the least energetic traveler.

I didn't like having to leave after only 3 nights!
