Newly refurbished with delightful staff . The food was a high standard and a reasonable price.
The second floor was a delightful room but the steps are very steep.

Received a phone call to discuss room choices, which was helpful, and also made sure we were aware that breakfast wasn’t available.
Location to Dartmoor was excellent.
Plenty of car parking.
The kitchen was shut on Mondays and Tuesdays, so our total stay. We would have booked elsewhere if we knew this before booking, as finding somewhere to eat as a family of five is tricky. Luckily, the Dolphin hotel managed to book us in for both evenings for great meals. Only takeaways available elsewhere in Bovey Tracey. One lamp didn’t work, blinds over roof lights were broken.
The hotel is very noisy. It’s an old building and you expect creaky floorboards, but you could hear every movement, shower, toilet flush when other rooms were occupied. Rooms, especially room 7, had a strange smell. Improved a bit once windows had been open for a while.

The room was a good size with a reasonably sized en-suite. The bed was comfortable and there was adequate hanging space.
We were charged an additional £10 for early check in (at 3.15pm) despite the web site showing check in from 2pm. The room & bathroom did not appear to have been hoovered. The toilet roll holder and soap dispenser in the shower were missing. The property does not provide breakfast but there were only two sachets of coffee in the room. A refrigerated delivery lorry was outside from 7am on Sunday morning for half an hour - not the Cromwell Arm's fault but not conducive to a romantic stay!

No staff, no opportunity for breakfast

The room was clean and the misunderstanding over booking for 1 or 2 people was resolved promptly.
We were disappointed that they did not provide breakfast which is something we expect an establishment of this type to provide.

Good location, pleasant staff, evening meal good.
No breakfast available.
Mind your head when standing at the toilet in the attic room.
Extractor fan rather noisy during the night.

good location in the town with east access to Dartmoor.
staff were friendly and helpful.
very basic. a bit old. no toiletries or breakfast.

Room was clean, beds were comfortable, decent hair dryer provided. It was quiet during the night.
The room was next to to the games room and the beer garden so it was very noisy in the evening as we could hear yelling and darts hitting the other side of the wall. Also, some elements of the room should have been in a better condition; one of the light bulbs had blown, the chair was worn and tatty. In the bathroom the bin was broken and some of the soaps had removed from the wall leaving ugly brackets on the wall - for the price we expected more attention to detail.
We were planning on eating in the restaurant as the menu looked good but we changed our minds as the restaurant was dull and empty, except for shouting coming from the adjacent games room (no door separating the games room and the restaurant).

Very comfortable room, reasonably spacious and well furnished. Great inn and location in the town, would recommend this as your first choice in Bovey Tracey.
Some of the bathroom fittings were a bit dated and a little loose. Nothing Major though.
For those who don't like too much noise, some of the rooms above the bar may be slightly noisy until close at 11pm. However, I didn't mind it because you're staying in an Inn after all!

Comfy bed warm enough room big room for the money. Love the pub only been in a couple of times but alway a friendly place to be.
Shower was disgusting old and used.

very good value for money for one night.
specious room and free parking.

Large room, hot water, free on site parking. Excellent central location in Bovey Tracey.
Recommend woodland walk in Parke (1/4m up the river) or family cycle ride along the old Wray valley line to Moretonhampstead (7m one way).
We knew in advance there would be no breakfast provided (though how hard can it be to provide at least cereal and a croissant?). But we were most disappointed to find there was no food in the evening either! Apparently this is short term (they are advertising for a chef) but it meant we couldn't stay in and be cozy in the nice warm bar, and had to go out again searching.

Lovely staff and a pub hotel with a lot of old world charm. The perfect place to stay after a long day of walking Dartmoor. The restaurant in the pub was great food and child friendly with chatty locals. the room was huge with a lot of space and the facilities were great, especially for the price. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it as a overnight spot for access to the top sites of the moorland.

Convenient location. Spacious room which was well away from the noisy bar area.
Carpark was full when I arrived but managed to park up later. Confusion at check-in as the Manager was unaware that I had booked an upgraded room.

1. The food in the bar and restaurant.
2. Direct access to family room from carpark, especially useful for dog owners.
3. Very friendly and good under pressure staff.
1.Apparent lack of understanding at the hotel of what was booked on booking.com.
2. Food shortages in the restaurant. Perhaps sign of the times.
3.A good but very loud live band on the Saturday night. It was difficult to have a conversation especially with older members of our family party.
4. No breakfast provision.

We enjoyed our brief stay and intend to return. The room was large with ample seating and the beds were comfortable. The Cromwell Arms is ideally suited in the centre of Bovey Tracy and close to the moors.
