Tremendous history of the house and Loire patiently explained by host, Thibeau. He was sincerely interested in having us thoroughly enjoy and get the most out of our visit to Amboise and surrounding area!

Our hosts, Thibaut and his dog Snook, were very helpful (not so much Snook who just wanted to play) and made us feel at home. The location is very good with easy access to the old town and river front.

It was the best stay I ever had in my life! I even felt a bit down after leaving. Le clos de la commanderie has all the amenities that you could want and more (comfy room,great breakfast, swimming pool, board games, books and a wondeful garden with even an enigma to resolve!). But what made our stay exceptional was our host, Thibaut. I have never seen someone so enthousiatic and passionate about history and music. We got to listen to many curious stories that really made our visits at the castles better. He made us fell like at home and gave us excellent recommandations about everything (restaurants, cycling paths...). Can't recommend enough!

Nothing bad to say, it was perfect. My only regret was to change hotel along the Loire according to the castles we were visiting and not stay at the clos de la commanderie for our full trip as everything is so close from each other with the train.

Freindly host who gave lots of information and advice on where to visit and the best restaurants. A wide choice of cereals, breads,home made conserves and pastries. The host enabled all the quests at the breakfast table to share their experiences and created a warm freindly experience. A short walk to the centre of town.

We loved our stay here. It is in a perfect location for visiting Le Val de la Loire. We were able to walk into Amboise in about 20 minutes and to Le Château du Clos Lucé in 10 minutes. It was fascinating listening to Thilbault talking about the history of his lovely house. Breakfast was superb.

Fantastic location close to the centre of Amboise. Thibaut was a superb host and looked after us so well. His knowledge of the area is profound. The grounds provide an ideal place to relax and unwind, as well as being most interesting, being on the site of the Knights Templar. It was good to meet various nationalities over breakfast too. A super friendly place to stay with a multitude of chateaux to visit.

The place is amazing!! Historical by yourself and very charmy. The owner (Mr. Thibaut), is a lovely and kind person, that recepted us with a great class of history about the city, the castles around and great restaurants. For sure, we will return soon and will stay in his lovely inn.

I just loved everything. Unfortunately I had to continue my journey, otherwise I would be there by now. ☺️☺️

Breakfast was normal French fare...pastries...bread, cereal jams and amazing coffee. What really was the best part of our stay was our interaction with our host. He was charming and his family was lovely. We enjoyed out morning talks and history lessons before we headed out on our daily adventures. Really an exceptional experience and one of the great joys of our trip. Proximity to the village center allowed for beautiful and safe walking as we explored the area.

We stayed 3 days...could have stayed longer. There really was not anything that we did not like.

We had a very nice stay for the weekend. The owner upgraded our room to an apartment. We've especially appreciated the convivial breakfast. Our only regret is not getting to enjoy the cute garden due to bad weather.

Very friendly host who's also very knowledgeable and who makes sure that his guests are well received. We had a great time at La Commanderie and we highly recommend it. :)
