Good breakfast and traditional Japanese rooms and close to Swiss bakery
Small onsen but close to large public onsen
4.0
Very cozy, the room was nice and warm and the futons were surprisingly comfortable. Having a private toilet and basin was a huge benefit. The shower/onsen was also nice. And the ski storage/drying room was ideal. Great restaurants nearby, ski hire within meters, and only 6 minutes walk from the nearest chair lift.
Small table in room-not big enough for 4 people.

Die Lage zum Ski Gebiet ist wirklich hervorragend.
Das Onsen bad war schon sehr klein und es gab leider nur eine Herdplatte ohne Zubehör um sich etwas zu erwärmen.

Drying room excellent
Traditional rooms and Onsen

Large family room with cozy mats and amazing fluffy comforters. Onsen facilities nice. Owner very kind and accommodating
Rooms a bit dark at night. Lobby/public space could be more welcoming/comfortable

Warm and cosy room, which was basic but clean. Beds are traditional mats and hard but we liked that. Close to a great Onsen. Very friendly staff with limited English.
Pillows not so great. Place is a bit dated but fine cause it’s budget.

Room was spacious and very warm
Excellent drying room and ski storage area
Kitchen facilities very limited and not the cleanest.
Note that the only showers are communal - onsen

I was not sure what to expect but I was happy with the experience. Our first family snow holiday and I was worried about heating - but the room was centrally heated and not cold at all with an extra heater in room that we didn't need. The room was spacious enough with plenty of cupboard space to keep tidy - we were four adult sized people. Unlike similar properties, there was a private toilet and vanity. For anyone wondering, the shared bathroom is a Japanese bathroom - so a communal washing area (no curtains) and onsen fed bath. This was fine for three of us, but one of my sons was not comfortable with this. Twenty years ago I spent three years sleeping on a futon on the floor of a tatami room, but I must be getting old because I did not find it comfortable this time - but fine for a short stay. One of the best public onsen is right around the corner. It is a about 10-15 minutes walk from main tourist streets, but there are places to eat right around the corner too. One surprise in the town was that reservations were needed for many restaurants, but we still managed to find good food.

Good location, near the chair lift and bus stop. If you drive, it has a covered carpark which means you won't need to shovel snow from your car! Free washing machine for use downstairs. Owners are nice.
Tho location is near chair lift, it is a 200m uphill walk to it. Imagine clonking up the hill in ski boots and carrying your skis at same time! No fun. Also, it is quite a distance from the main part of town. On foot, we are talking about a 20 minute walk.
The property is extremely run down. I estimate last renovation done to be about 30 or 40 years ago. Stains on the wall paper, v thin bedsheets. Common areas like sinks not cleaned for the 4 days I was there (someone left a plastic bag in the sink and it remained there throughout). Sink had stains on them. It was gross. Shoe racks were dirty.
Room was clean enough but I didn't dare look for dirty spots. Again, there were numerous stains on wallpaper and bed heads.
There was a toilet in my room but the sink was the type that is attached to the toilet and water runs only when you flush it (basically it's the water used to refill the toilet cistern). You can't brush your teeth or wash your face or anything in there.
Common bathroom was kept quite clean tho. There is a tiny onsen, enough for 1, at most 2 people.
Nice though the owners were, I wouldn't come back here to stay cos my skin was just crawling throughout my stay. Could barely sleep cos I just felt so uneasy!
